To hear “mesmer is op” is music to my ears to be honest. It’s not true though.
Mesmers finally being on par has exposed the weakness of some of the other classes that were able to rely on melting an inherently underpowered Mesmer class.
That’s a skill issue the other classes need to cope with.
I adamantly disagree. In my 3rd year of play, this is the first time I feel on a relatively even footing.
What needs to happen is the former burst/zerk classes that could destroy a Mesmer ( or Ele ) in seconds learn to have some defense.
I understand the sour grapes. Rangers, Warriors, Guardians and thieves prety much had the upper hand going into a fight with a Mesmer.
This led them to believe they were highly skilled. Now, they need to learn a new skill set and defense.

Dear Devs,
Please allow me to suggest an improved process for releasing the Chronomancer specialization.
I propose a two step method. The second step is crucial.
Step 1. Release the Chronomancer a bit underpowered. Yes, I said it. The next step must follow though.
Step 2. Buff it substantially.
This situation of having things given to Mesmer followed soon after by nerfs, (some to worse than the situation before the buff, ) makes me apoplectic and I’m not the only one.
Yes it’s true there are some very skilled Mesmers advocating for nerfs even now. I would say that their perspective is not that of a vast majority of players.
I have over 5000 hours in the game, more than 1700 on Mesmer. In the years I have played this is the first time I feel like I’m on a relatively even footing with other classes in PvP.
The immediate round of nerfs almost had me physically sick. You may be sure it didn’t improve my opinion of ANET either.
Thanks for listening,
Ithilwen

The trading post allows one to buy extra bank tabs when the bank is already maxed.
While I admit it was my mistake… Other items do not allow you to buy if you’re maxed. This cost me 800 gems for something I can’t use.
Please fix.
The damage is fine.
I’m happy that now a lot of people have to think about defense. It used to be they could just count on a key press combo to kill a Mesmer really fast. Now, zerkers need to think about defensive skills and positioning. I think it’s brilliant.

I’m not playing PU, not much stealth here. I love the new condi mode. Finally, all those zerk wars and glassbow rangers have to consider defense.
Before, they could count on spiking you down and just ignored condi. That gravy train has run for a long time. I’m not surprised that they are bitter over the loss of easymode.
Yes I was. You are the ranger who told me to learn to play. I now return that to you in spades. LEARN TO PLAY.
Damage is not too high. The problem is that you Zerk players have never needed to really have a defense before. You could easily ignore condi and spike down a mesmer in seconds.
LEARN TO PLAY and stop whining.
Go away Warlord. You’ve been all over the forums advocating mega nerfs to Mesmer. It doesn’t make you “cool.” It certainly doesn’t make me think you are a skilled Mesmer. I think you are a ranger or something trolling.
We have already been insta nerfed ( again ) please just go away.
Yes, Mesmers being Mesmers… some think it’s “cool” to advocate for nerfs and making the class as hard to play as possible.
I sincerely wish such people would main Ranger. I’ve waited years for a nice patch like this and I think the naysayers are being rather…. well TOS prevents me from saying.
Here’s the latest hit:
Chaos Chaotic Dampening: Reduced the recharge reduction percent of staff skills per pulse of chaos armor from 5% to 2%.
Domination Power Block: Reduced the damage on interrupt by 17%.
Soon enough we’ll be back to irrelavance. I could just puke on my keyboard.

Keep the condition as it is. I’m actually having a good time playing shatter Mesmer for once.
You people who are “zerk” built with no defense need to realize that it was a crutch all along and learn to play for real.
I think a lot of this is sour grapes. The zerk gravy train has been running for a long time. It’s refreshing as hell to finally be a factor as a condi Mesmer after years of struggling with being over nerfed.
This is something I’ve waited a very long time to say to the zerk warriors and rangers; LEARN TO PLAY.
I don’t find GW2 easymode. It’s refreshing to finally be a factor as a condi shatter Mesmer. I think the issue here is zerk players, mad that full zerk is now dangerous to play.
The devs have commented repeatedly that the “zerk” meta had overwhelmed most other things. The Condi buff has changed the game board and I for one think it’s an awesome patch.
my guild consists of my two accounts. Still, I have the guild bonus for pre purchasing HoT and I’d like to be able to obtain a guild hall. I’m fine with inviting others to help get it.
My question is: Once gotten, what am I going to have to do to keep it?
I just bought a tab extension for my bank @ 800 gems. Upon receiving it I can’t use it because I already have the tabs maxed.
Admittedly, this was my mistake. Still, buying something account bound and useless to me for $10.00 USD was a bit of a slap.
Please don’t sell me items that are already maxed. I know the code for this exists because the storage expansion doesn’t permit buying too many.
Being a post op T woman myself, I am amazed and gratified. Thank you ANET.
It absolutely disgusts me that ANET targeted Mesmer for an insta nerf. Finally I start to have some success and the first thing you do is crush it.
I fully expected that ANET will nerf Mesmer back to uselessness within days and destroy confusion. STOP NERFING MESMER.
I have have heard devs repeatedly complain about the zerk meta. The strong condi is an excellent solution. Let it ride.
Please stop hounding Mesmer, I’m finally having some fun with it after waiting for years.

+1 I’m loving dropping null field on my team with Temporal Enchanter traited. The Necros have the funniest looks on their faces when DS skills fail and fear does nothing. It screws up ranger canine pets too, not to mention Basilisk Venom thieves.
Consider also that Time Warp is a glamour
Think of it like an aoe berserker stance.
I suspect it’s up to 5 allies.. but I can’t prove that. This would be nasty in a WvW zerg fight.

I think we have some rangers on the forum who don’t like that their easy kill longbow 2 stopped working as well.
Actually sword /torch would work. It wouldn’t be optimal, but it’d work. The key would be to shatter constantly for the heal and blind. I’m stacking confusion, so scepter is the natural choice. Sword / torch would work though if you kept the shatters coming.
Sounds like a serious case of the whines to me. As I’ve said several times today; crying for nerfs and claiming the class isn’t “skilled” enough doesn’t make you cool.
If you don’t feel challenged please go away. I’ve waited years to be able to play shatter effectively. It’s idiotic to encourage ANET to nerf Mesmer when we have seen they are likely to trash anything we find effective anyway.
Please just leave and play something else.
I feel trolled that the minstrel is male. The unicorn is thought to be hugely inspiring it’s presense brings healing and generally good things. I thought that was a pretty good pick.
Actually if you check my “Glamour Girl” build (#shamelessplug ) You will find it’s condi shatter with Staff as the secondary.
I’m seeing confusion stacks as high as 10 at times and melted a ranger or two. Scepter is definitely the go-to weapon for condi but staff is no slouch.
Talking about “boring” and not challenging is stupid given ANET’s manifest propensity for nerfing Mesmer into the ground. I really don’t want that kind of talk on the forum.
Or we could stop being elitists and realize that Mesmer has finally been built with some sustain.
@Levetty I suggest you go with a main hand weapon only if you don’t feel challenged enough. Mesmer has waited way too long to be able to play shatter without being a fanatic with high level game skills.
A truly skillful player would want the class accessible to all, not be threatened that the class is now a bit more playable in shatter mode.
I’m finally having some decent success playing shatter. If you’re bored please go away but don’t start asking for nerfs.
It DOES NOT make you a “cool” Mesmer to advocate for making the class harder to play.
A slight pun yes. I’m not sure why the link doesn’t work.

Staff and scepter/torch with water and torment Sigils. Use one or two glamours in the utilities to act as a sort of AOE Berserker stance. Nightmare runes.
Comes out health 2408, vitality 1900 , condition damage 1375 +15% on condi duration.
Shatter to build condi stacks and heal yourself and teammates.
I’ve used this build successfully in SPvp in ranked overnight. In the process, I bagged a ranger or two and a couple of thieves. Have a look, it seems to work well.
It stacks confusion and heals nicely. I’m having fun with this one.

Let’s see, with any height difference, rangers shoot right over my temporal curtain. Feedback won’t reach them most of the time, the reflect phantasm has the same range issue.. that leaves mirror. So I’m supposed to be able to win on a 1 second reflect? You learn to play and stop relying on an OP burst and a pet that makes closing you almost impossible.
yes of course I use LOS. A useless reply
OK, I’ll bite. “How should a Mesmer deal with a longbow ranger?” Bear in mind that none of my closure skills will reach them before I get killed by the rf burst. My feedback won’t reach that far. In many situations a ranger can shoot right over my temporal curtain. I have no good means of escaping entangle nor an effective counter to stealth.
(edited by Ithilwen.1529)
And therein lies the basic problem. You’re also hiding too far away to be hit with a god gun bow and a guided missle.
I meant that I am sorry for giving support to ANET because ranger just keeps being built up. It’s already a bane to PvP and going to be worse.
and that means?
I think Rangers are hugely OP and that the class is mainly used for trolling in PVP. I’d like to see it receive major nerfs. The Longbow and pet are especially offensive.
It looks like ANET is making a concerted effort to destroy most non shatter builds. I honestly think it’s sour grapes because “grouch” got wrecked by a clone death Mesmer.
It amuses me that those “skilled” players who hammered me for using clone death traits also often used those traits in interrupt builds.
Prediction; The interrupt builds will find that clone death was a major crutch and they will suffer for the loss.
Here’s hoping that Chronomancer will offer something other than spamming keypress combos.
It looks like an interesting PVE build. Food and the runes aren’t available in PVP. I don’t think the runes are permitted in WvW either.
“Zerk” sucks. I’d like to see it get cut back some more. I hate being 1 shot killed by thieves and slinking rangers.
Two new specializations are re-purposing weapons. This was a unique trait of Mesmer, with the ranged Greatsword.
Engineer is apparently getting an aoe [Polymorph Moa] a signature power of the Mesmer.
Other classes now generate Chaos Armor, once the sole province of Mesmer.
Other classes now generate confusion better than Mesmer can. R.I.P. another unique power of Mesmer.
I think that ANET is “generating content” by thoroughly watering down the individual classes and distributing the traits to other classes.
This shows basic laziness and a very low level of respect for any RP quality of a given class. I don’t want a game in which the classes are basically the same, differing only in minor detail.
While I’m ranting, I also don’t want my play ability based on long chains or cycles of keypresses. Is that the limit of your creativity anet?
I went into the beta with fairly low expectations. The “verticality” concept sounded suspicious and I feared it would be a constant zerg fest.
How very wrong I was.
The vertical expansion gives much more play space for a given “floor area.” I didn’t feel in constant danger of falling to my death as I feared. There was room to play solo and in small groups.
Some general likes:
The personal story continues the pattern of excellence. On my walk this evening I wondered about the Mordrem Court and it’s connection to the Nightmare court. Why did Ventari create the Pale Tree? What’s Glint’s connection to the Silvari and Centaurs?
Where do the Zephyrites really stand? It will be fascinating to see how the story plays out. At some point if feels like there needs to be a reckoning between Rox and Rytlock. She did try to follow him through the portal. It seems likely he believes she abandoned him.
The Art in general was amazing and worth the trouble of getting the portal.
The Mordrem felt toned down a bit that was good.. they may have been nerfed a hair too much.
The Pale Reavers and their laser sighted rifles were a pleasant surprise. I may have to dust off my Warrior if those become available.
The aoe brambles. These feel contrived and excessive in Orr. In HoT they seem to fit perfectly.
The pocket raptors were really neat. Kudos on a cool idea, ANET.
I chose to play a Mesmer, so not much to say about Revenants. I liked the different shaped aoe footprints and the graphics that I saw. They didn’t seem wildly OP which was a major concern I had.
Some dislikes:
It wasn’t clear that I needed to click the top bar on the Mastery page to begin training. I missed my chance to try gliding because I didn’t understand that fully, big QQ.
The personal story battles seemed too easy. I never felt seriously threatened. Rytlock’s statement at the end of the personal story episode felt a bit contrived and stilted.
The pit event where we were asked to recover parts of a down pact aircraft didn’t work. The event itself seemed to work, but there was no apparent place to take the parts once we recovered them.
One thing I heard repeatedly from players on map chat was the wish for mounts. I’ll add my voice to that. Even if the mount itself were non combatant, it’d be fun to be able to ride. Maybe it could be non-combatant, but one could still fight while mounted. I suspect the Gem Store would make a killing on such a thing.
Overall, I’d say it’s not quite ready for prime time. It’ll be a lot of fun when it is though.
The advantage of having a solo queue is removing farming and exploits. I consistently queue Ranked as a solo and getting hammered by an organized group seems to be a fairly common experience. I’d very much like to see a queue mode that banned all parties.
So Devs, what’s the deal on that?
From the official wiki:
Logitech Gaming Keyboards[edit]
This key section of the article is incomplete. You can help the Guild Wars 2 Wiki by expanding it.
G19s has its own app that shows world completion, zone completion, WvW score, basic stats (power, precision, defense, and health), and the combat log.
The G13 is a mini-keyboard that includes 25 programmable G-keys that simplify complex actions by allowing you to configure up to 75 unique functions across three different modes with three macros per key. (G-key programming requires Logitech® Gaming Software, available at gaming.logitech.com/support)
G15 shows world completion, zone completion, WvW score, and basic stats (power, precision, and defense).
So ANET not only allows, but apparently endorses macros to some extent.
Really? I don’t personally use macros but playing in Spvp I’d assumed that it was common/accepted. The real problem is; You could make a macro with a random key press delay. Then how would you know if it was a quick player or a macro?
Perhaps best not to go too crazy on this.
Fear Not This Night is one of my favorite pieces ever. It’s perfect in The Grove and at the end of the personal story track.. Yes I’d love this to happen. Yes, I could also just record it off YouTube.
I’d like an achievement to gain this title, similar to Acolyte of Dwayna. The back piece already exists. Mesmer is by far my favorite class and Lyssa is our Patroness ( or Patronesses technically.)
In the Order of Whispers personal story episode “Thieving from Thieves,” Tybalt Leftpaw speaks with Forgal Kernson’s voice making a parenthetical comment just before entering the Centaur camp.
The words are still appropriate, but the voice change is a bit jarring.
My first and still main character is my Venom Share Thief.
I make a daily habit of running Cad’s Manor.
The regular LFG posts that include some variation of “80’s only” annoy me. So, I’ve made it my policy to take anyone who wants to go.
The teaching is fun and it exposes new-ish players to dungeons. My friends list is populated with many past students. More than once, I’ve held informal classes in the dungeon for new thieves, teaching some stealth basics.
Tonight, I returned from the hospital to find that not only am I revealed upon stealthing, the stealth is far shorter and more fragile. In addition to that any interaction using the “f” button removes stealth.
( Yes, ANET, I still managed to solo the P1 basement )
This change to stealth and the dungeon is incredibly cheesy even by ANET standards.
It will have a more important effect though. I was already part of a fairly small group of people willing to take relatively new and/or non 80 characters through the dungeon. I have been able to do that because stealth and venom share enabled me to either skip fights or add enough bonus dps to get the group through.
With this cheap new trick added… I predict that the number of non “zerk 80’s” running CM will drop to nearly none. If it is ANET’s intention to discourage new players being allowed in dungeon groups, I’d say they’ve succeeded admirably.
kite and range. D/D ele hasn’t got much ranged attack.
