In a nutshell the current heal skills don’t heal enough.
I was asking for real feedback. I honestly think a decent heal and / or more illusion slots would be a real boost for not much effort on anet’s part.
Comments Welcomed.
Suggestion 1;
What if Mesmers had another Phantasm. This one wouldn’t count against our three. It would have to be conjured in combat and have a specific target.
Call it Phantasmal Thief. The phantasm would act like a Necromancer Blood Pet. It would steal life from it’s target and transfer conditions to it’s target. This makes sense in a Mesmer’s world. It would be a kind of complex.
Suggestion 2;
Allow Mesmers to build up 6 phantasms/clones. There’s already a precedent in Lady Kasmeer and the Corrupted Priestess of Lyssa in Arah. It wouldn’t be OP because building such a stack would take forever.
This would add a lot of skill in managing and optimizing the illusions.
Hitman you are so far off the mark I figure you must be just trolling. Not one of the claims you made is accurate. I DARE you to roll a PU Mesmer and demonstrate that it
is at all accurate.
I have done some programming. The idea that the Dev or Devs working on Mesmer should main Mesmer seems like it should be a given. This is just too cool a class to keep dissing so hard.
I received the dishonorable debuff because the PVP maps took so long to load that I was d/c’d for inactivity.. that’s not appropriate at all.
I’m fairly insulted tbh.
bump bump bump…………
I think the bugs are a stealth nerf.
Anet must realize by now that yet another hit on Mesmer would be bad PR but “broken” stuff has plausible deniability.
Truthfully dear moderators, why does Anet hate Mesmers?
Mesmer has the best style in the game. Also, I’m a masochist. I’m sticking with it despite regular hammerings in pvp.
Rangers are now getting far too much damage. The act like thieves + pets. ANET way overbuffed them.
Did these traits ever get fixed?
Disclaimer: I’m pretty new at PvP and not particularly skilled
Before seeing this thread, I replaced Illusionary Personality with Main the Disillusioned in an otherwise generic pvp power shatter build. Enemy players almost always move, so the torment does well.
Conditions haven’t been very effective for me in general. I consider the Torment a bonus.
On balance, Maim the Disillusioned seems to do better. I’m running staff and GS with Runes of the Eagle. Sigils of Fire and Purity.
OMFG, wow ANET! Home Run… awesome story. I’m on edge for the next episode and to learn more of what the vision means.
Kudos upon Kudos.
GW2 has it’s warts but it’s the best game I’ve ever played, hands down.
I wish Anet would offer something like Althea’s outfit as a light armor skin. I’d gladly pay gems for that. You might see a serious upsurge in human Mesmers though
When I play Thief, I’m surprised how often stealth fails to break aggro or protect from attacks. Most of the people who complain about a class, don’t play that class. ( and yes.. I have an 80 in every class )
I use clones traited to damage on death. When the zerg kills them, they suffer.
As a PU Mesmer.. I lose more often than I win. To tell the truth, 1v1 is very rare in my experience. Most of the time it’s a cowardly group of 6v1. As to fleeing at whim, Blix you obviously haven’t played Mesmer or Thief.. It’s usually the ones who don’t play a class that scream OP.
Not much I can add to the foregoing and I agree with most of it. Anet has created a game that promotes zerging and rewards it richly. If things continue as they are I see the mists simply being the new Queensdale train.
The game was supposed to be about heroism. Now it’s more like..( deleted )
I found myself reciting The Charge of the Light Brigade last night while facing yet another
10-1 + mob.
Defending the keep in WvW feels like re-enacting Masada ( look it up ) several times a night.
I suggest that rewards be removed for the larger side when they outnumber by such ridiculous proportions. How does zerging a keep with little to no chance of injury earn Karma and Dragonite?
I’d much rather see ANet work on balancing out the zergs. I’m sick of reliving Massada 10 times a night. ( look it up if you don’t know the reference.. very apropos to the current situation in WvW )
I got my 100 tickets in the mail for completing the achievement but my second place reward was voided by Anet. Is there a way to claim new tickets for the ones anet invalidated?
When one side out numbers another by say 5-1 or more, remove Ascended material and Karma awards and debuff WxP for the overpowered side. After all, zerging hardly earns Ascended Gear.
This worked in Queensdale and would result in servers being reshuffled.
I do roam, constantly. Overnight there are often a dozen or less on the maps from my side. Yes, I do manage to pick off somebody from a group now and then. I’ve learned a lot simply because my first mistake means instant death.
The competition at the moment is nonexistant. It’s just survival and hoping to grab a few points before I get found and steamrolled.
I like the idea of giving a major boost to the Outnumbered buff… say 500% increased power and toughness. That “might” make it possible to beat a medium sized zerg with a small group. Plus it would tend to discourage the outrageous karma trains.
I stay with my server because it’s my home and I have friends there. Still, I’m foul sick of being so outnumbered that I can only hide and raid an occasional sentry or camp.
It’s time to promote Gate of Madness to Silver League so they have a challenge and are not simply taking advantage.
GoM ( the first place world in Bronze league last season ) consistently outnumbers my world ( Devonas Rest, the second place world in Bronze league ) by something on the order of 10-1.
Their karma train reminds me of the Queensdale train. It requires no fighting skill and simply crushes by weight of numbers. The only viable counter is to wait until most of them leave at about 6-7 am PST.
This is an exploit on the part of GoM and makes for a pretty crumby night playing WvW if your world happens to get matched with them.
I spend the night hours back capturing and camp raiding knowing that if I encounter GoM I will have 0 chance of survival. They are seldom seen in groups of less than 5 and that’s very early in the morning. Otherwise, expect 20+.
I’ve heard discussions of having everyone leave until that week is up.
Have some courage and sportsmanship, GoM.
I have seen all this before in the work of Supcutie and others. Looks like plagarism to me. Have you spent some time trying to play this style post patch?
First, Guild Wars 2 is the best MMO online. The only thing that would make it better would be to allow me to script and content create.
Having said that I am having trouble after the MegaServer got started.
I generally run with graphics set for best performance and haven’t had too much trouble even in default graphics.
Post megaserver, I am seeing my inputs ignored for up to 30 seconds at a time. My skills do not activate and I cannot f key interact. When the interaction returns, the server resolves all npc and other player actions before it resolves mine, so I will be jogging down the road and die for no apparent reason of wounds from an enemy I never saw.
If I happen to be fighting when this begins. I take all incoming damage and conditions BEFORE anything I do is resolved. Few toons can withstand 10 seconds or more of giving a mob free shots.
Depending on the map I’m travelling in I may see this happen multiple times in an hour or not see it at all. Anywhere in the vicinity of Queensdale seems to be the most difficult
The issue has been worse on weekend days and is often associated with a “train” coming into an area.
I’ve seen similar in WvW where we can sometimes tell the enemy is approaching as we start to freeze and see a dramatic frame rate drop. One of our opponents in particular this season consistently runs in large mobs. Our little groups of defenders know they are coming well before they are visible because of the lag they induce.
First, please stop self suggesting nerfs. It has taken me so long to be a credible pvp/wvw Mesmer.. so many instant deaths.. Mesmer doesn’t need any nerfing.
I have shied away from using GS though I like it alot. It has almost no defensive value in WvW.
I think returning the cast to regular targeting is a great idea. When I do use GS, mind stab is pretty much useless in most situations as it stands. It’s too slow except perhaps against surprised foes or siege operators. With regular targeting it would be more useful.

This thread probably won’t be stickied. That would be tantamount to A Net promoting a player and their created guild, ethics issues abound. Still please do invite me or PM and tell me why not. This is like the 5th time I’ve asked.

Osicat, I love the videos and they are part of the inspiration that keeps me trying. Please give a text description of playing this build. The videos leave me wondering at points what the rotation was and what the reasoning was.
I’ve been playing PU Mesmer. I admit I suck at Mesmer generally but if you think PU is overpowered than you are simply not a skilled player. I’m guessing #1 mashing warrior.
I have a leveled thief but I seldom play her. The reason is that in any reasonable fight a thief should win. A thief who loses a fight where they weren’t grossly overpowered has only themselves to blame.
I hate to lose and I hate even more losing on thief because I know I went into the fight with all the odds in my favor.
Yes, the class is grossly overpowered. No, A net doesn’t give a kitten what the community thinks.
Power Block was the one bright spot on a rather dismal Mesmer scene. I think the kittens who say l2p are actually thieves trolling because they like being hyper OP. Underhanded knaves that they are.

The Armor is all Council Ministry. CM reward armor with Vitality, Healing and Condition traits. I’m using Superior Runes of the Traveler because I need the speed boost for WvW. They also increase my condition output some, + 10% condition duration.
My Trinkets are all ascended with mostly power/toughness traits.
I’m currently using a Sigil of Doom on the pistol I’ll be adding energy sigils.
Having Wastrel’s Punishment in the Domination line is icing on the cake.
Interrupt, Shatter, Rinse and Repeat.

This draws on many others’ ideas in particular PyroAthiest and Osicat are inspirations.
A tip of the hat to The Blackwater Mesmer as well.
The name refers to the Searing of Ascalon. This build feels a bit like my GW Mesmer/Ranger
6/4/4. Domination II, V, XIII. Dueling III, X. Chaos V, VIII
Runes are Traveler’s for WvW movement.
Utilities: Signet of Domination, Mantra of Distraction, Arcane Thievery, Moa
Weapons: Scepter/Pistol and Staff. Alternative Scepter/Pistol and Sword/Focus.
Second alternative sacrifices one interrupt for a block Scepter/Sword and Staff
The idea is that this gives 4 interrupts ( 5 with Temporal Curtain ) 1 signet, 2 mantra hits and Magic Bullet. In the Mists practice area I’m finding my clones dying often so I’m using the on death traits.
Halting strikes for the interrupt damage.
The on block agony is a nice sideline.
Initial results seem promising. Feedback?
EDIT: 5 and 6 interrupts. Diversion Dazes so you can interrupt on shatter.

Let me open by saying that Mesmer is my favorite class and the one I want to keep playing.
A recent post on the forums made me curious. So I have been leveling a Mesmer/Ranger in GW. Also, I’d like to earn that cool dragonsword skin.
From an RP standpoint I find the “modern” Mesmer of GW2 much better. Visible illusions are a real improvement. RP is an integral part of the game for me.
It seems to me that a Mantra build would be very similar to the “Searing Times” ( to coin a phrase ) Mesmer of old Ascalon.
It seems that the devs have made a concerted effort to weaken Mesmers and have succeeded very well.
I believe that a small number of dedicated gamers with excellent equipment skew the demographic and make the class appear stronger than it is.

Problem resolved by resetting password
One of my accounts logs in with no issue. My other account on the same computer and internet connection consistently returns an error; Can’t access the login server.
Any suggestions?

Playtime usually late night / early morning.
WvW , pvp and dungeon running.
Pyro, I think you are one of a small group that does very well with Mesmer. My experience has consistently shown that the class is badly under powered and that Warriors, Guardians and Engineers can consistently out heal whatever I can dish out.
Your implication that the problem must simply be that I am a bad player is arrogant, nasty, elitist and dead wrong.
Ryn, I own an 80 toon in every class. I agree.. Ranger is unimpressive at best. Still it’s likely to beat a Mesmer most of the time.
Infantry, as it happens, I’m about to go and try a PU build, again. My expectations are pretty low though.
Carighan, you’ve said that multiple times now. Define “proper”? I should be the obedient wife and hide behind my warriors in shining armor perhaps?
What is it that you mean by playing “properly” and “to win”?
Ideally, each class would have strengths and weaknesses set up in such a way that any 2 classes could compete on level ground by playing to their respective strengths.
Anet basically deceived me by presenting a class and not telling me, “this class is incapable of beating medium to heavy armor class the majority of the time.”
Obviously, A net would prefer everyone play a warrior or guardian.
Deleting was more about emotional state than actual action.
I meant Phantasm being able to be rezzed without a specific target. So that they are available at the beginning of a fight, rather than needing to be created on the spot.
That seems to be the root reason my Minion Mistress Necro does so well by comparison. Her Minions are standing by at the beginning of the fight and they can be redirected to a new target.
(edited by Ithilwen.1529)
The mention of the gear was to illustrate that this toon has a lot of time and energy invested and “should” be competitive.
True to form.. the forum ignores the suggestion and tries to find excuses to be snarky. How about replying to the suggestion?
