I’m not a “noob” at World Rank 130 and a bit under 7000 ap. It sounds like you are liking being OP and scared it’ll change.
As to zergs. I refer to those players as “zerg dolls” when I use printable language and have little to no respect for the “train” play style.

It’s another morning after an awful night in WvW. Most other classes steamroller me 1v1.
I’m ready to delete my Mesmer with all her Ascended gear ( 5 accesories built around power precision and a power toughness Greatsword, Berserker Armor ) and cut my losses. I’ve tried multiple revisions and different builds.
Here’s my suggestion; Allow Mesmer to pre rez Phantasms and for them to be re targetible.
My Minion Mistress Necromancer is far more successful in WvW despite her second rate gear. She keeps 4-6 Minions up ( with some proc’d if she kills ) as much as possible and can reasonably hope to seriously endanger a Warrior.
My Mesmer is lucky to make a dent despite high level gear and much trying.
Yet another awful night in WvW. With an Ascended weapon and 5 Ascended accessories, I can’t even make a credible effort at defeating most other classes.
Here’s my suggestion;
Make Mesmer Phantasms rezzable in the same way that Necromancer pets are, and retargetable.
My Necromancer with second rate gear does far better in WvW than the Mesmer I’ve already invested far too much time and effort in.
My only function in WvW at this point as a Mesmer is to give easy kills to noob zerg trains.
Thanks folks. The build was “confused” though it worked well enough in PVE. I changed to ’zerker armor and compatible sigils + a shatter oriented build and doing much better.
I like the trooper’s pants from Fort Trinity. They look kinda like Harem pants. Better than wearing a ballgown into battle, at any rate.
Let me try that again.
I’m running a Phantasm build of my own. 10/10/0/30/20.
Armor is: Vitality Healing, Condition with Traveler Runes.
Weapons: S/S with Doom and Corruption Sigils. The weapons themselves are spec’d Power, Precision, Crit.
GS ( ascended ) Power, Precision, Crit
Alternate weapon Sword/Focus for speed and dungeon farming. In WvW
I typically switch the focus in and out for travel speed. So, I end up in combat with S/F and GS fairly often.
Trinkets: 3 Ascended, 2 exotic.. mostly Power , Precision
I took Warden’s feedback and Glamour Mastery for the reflects.
Now my question: Is there a specific rotation for S/S and GS? and some ideas on playing this generally? I’m getting thrashed 1 v 1 just about every time and am becoming really discouraged.
Phantasmal Haste is bugged? Meh.. then I’ve been making an error setting up for it. Is that for all phantasms? or specific ones?
I’m not a high level player. Phantasm build seems to work for me as well or better than any other. So, I’m running it until I get better. I highly recommend this page.

I think Lesbian relationships in a game are much more interesting than “Ozzie and Harriet”
That being said, why are you not whining about the “gay” relationship of Logan and Rytlock? I sense a huge double standard. It’s OK for guys only?
Come on people, this is an MMO. To be concerned about the social ramifications of a relationship between two minor members of the supporting cast shows a depth of perversion or at least immaturity in the players freaked out about it. That’s what’s disturbing about this thread.
I think y’all need to grow up some and leave your prudery at the door.
I’m seeing my target shift unpredictably even after clicking on an enemy player or pve enemy. It’s making a hash of PvP dueling when several spectators are around. It’s also making WvW harder for an admittedly mediocre player.
Same issues in WvW main hand sword clones and focus iWarden sometimes stand around doing the idle animations when aimed at a structure or player.
Three things I would like to see in WvW.
1.) Controlled queues so that a reasonable proportion of population between servers would be maintained.
a.) I recognize that this defeats part of the purpose of WvW by denying access to
some players who wish to play. However, I believe that the improvement in game
quality and the reduction of “trains” would compensate and it would be a win in
long run by favoring quality play over numbers.
2.) Make fortresses more defensible.
a.) Make the doors and walls invulnerable to hand weapons and magic. This would
serve Arena Net by encouraging people to buy siege and defend camps.
b.) Reconfigure the catwalks in such a way that one can hide from aoe while still
being able to fight. It is frustrating that I mostly can’t hit a defender with an
aimed attack, but any noob can spam wells and/or Ranger barrage to make
catwalk impassible.
3.) Create boats! I think a pirate ship would be mega cool.
meah culpa mea maxima effing culpa
The vast majority of you missed the point. What happened illustrated that the numbers were very far out of balance. That was my point, though, yes, I expressed it clumsily.
Letoll,
1. It’s neither clever nor funny.
2. If you don’t have a reasoned idea, maybe you’d do better to say nothing.
Letoll, it wasn’t about a buff. The point was that these people owned the vast majority of the map and still had time to pull stunts and laugh. Try to focus on the point.
The roll through was an attempt to distract the SF zergs if we are thinking of the same night. The group left because they assumed the blobs would arrive shortly and wipe them.
I was the one trolling your BL, yackslapping and killing Sentries. The SF zergs were so large that was the most I could accomplish. Capping camps is hard as a single and takes too long. The enemy sees the swords and descends.
I’m all for good fights. Let’s have some more of those.
Me Games, teach me how to be an “OP” Mesmer. I’m struggling to survive most of the time, let alone take on 3 v1. By all means publish your build and strategy.
I’m still working on countering Warrior immobilize + evicerate. They usually manage to kill my Mesmer in two to three button pushes.
Yes, I’m working on skill building.
Warriors do seem to be very much the favored children in the Arena Net family.
Letoll, kindly read the thread before being snarky.
I’m seeing defenders at a huge disadvantage in most cases. There is little or no shelter on the walls within range / LOS of the attackers and the tankers laugh off arrow carts.
The “fortresses” are pretty much a joke. A hand weapon should not even damage a keep door.
Part of the reason I go to WvW is to fight for my server. Hence, I’m not likely to transfer. Eotm.. well I went this morning and found it confusing.
It does seem clear to me that Arena Net is pandering to mediocre players who enjoy running around in unbeatable masses.
Perhaps EB should be renamed “Queensdale”.
My point is that the enemy had us outnumbered by so much, they had time to goof off like that and still own the entire map.
As to the Legendary Defenders.. the point was, they utterly failed to work.
I’d love to know how to blink through a tower door. I bet that’s a myth. My point is: when the match is so uneven, that a blob of enemy has time to sneak into your home spawn, it’s a sign that the game isn’t well set up.
I actually spoke to one of those CoSA members, nice guy. Still, at that moment most of DR map was green as was sfbl and EB. The matchups are consistently uneven. It seems to have a lot to do with time zones.
Not eager to fight? Do you enjoy going 5 or 6 v 20+?

How badly is WvW out of balance?
I attach a screenshot of Sorrow’s Furnace forces standing inside Devonas Rest Citadel in Devonas Rest Borderland, waving and laughing. This was taken about 10 minutes ago. Yes we wiped them. Without any help from the “Legendary Defenders” I might add
.
Arena Net, if it is your goal to destroy WvW, you’re on the right track.
The ticket number seems to be: 327112. Logically, if it were an issue with my computer it would affect all my toons, not just one.
I’m having the same issue with Bloodtide Coast. I have used both the refresh and repair command line ideas without success. Oddly, it is only that one toon. Repair consistently sticks and crashes with 56,707 files remaining.
I’m angry with the response I am getting from Tech Support and would like to know who I can contact about the issue.
I have an unknown problem with my client that permits me to play any toon on my main or alternate account except one.
That particular one has a lot of time/money invested. She has ascended trinkets and Greatsword etc.
Technical support claims that it must be my machine and hence Arena Net bears no responsibility.
This defies logic and common sense because each of the other toons plays without a hitch in pve, pvp and WvW.
I am running an Ascended GS 3 Ascended trinkets and the balance is Exotic.
The video was very good. How are shatters targetted?
I have read the guide, will read it again. Do shatters “miss”? If so,how can I avoid this or target better? Also, how can I keep my auto target from shifting from one enemy to another?
I have tried running several of the published “shatter” builds. I’m finding that while I can kill target golems well enough, I’m not doing significant damage in actual play.
Will someone review the basic tactic? Should I be shattering as often as possible? Why can’t I dent warriors?
Also, I hear fantastic damage numbers but the numbers on my log for any of the published builds run an average of about 150. Why is this?
Mesmer is my favorite class but I’m getting my * handed to me in PvP and WvW just about every time, regardless of my ascended gear.
Got to build some skills.
Thanks in advance.

My suggestion; Restrict WvW queues to reasonable ratios between worlds. This will be better for the game in the long run.
Today I encountered something like 30-1 odds in; Devona’s Rest Borderland, Anvil Rock Borderland and Eternal Battlegrounds in the same half an hour or so.
WvW is quickly becoming another Queensdale. Players from heavily populated servers “earn” rewards with no risk whatever and simply run over anyone silly enough to resist.
I’m ready to walk away from WvW and GW2. A good fight is one thing. Being run over for the amusement of another server’s players is quite another.
I’m running a slightly tweaked shatter build with staff and sword/ focus or sword/pistol most of the time. She spends a lot of time in WvW.
This is just an area of interest for me and it is mentioned in the Arena Net literature ( I’m not finding the reference at this moment ) that Illusions can be used to draw aggro.
I haven’t seen it work yet in actual play and wonder why.
Does anyone have a good technique for transferring aggro to one’s illusions in PVE? Based on the wiki discussion of Aggro, I tried; being furthest and closest and attacking vs not attacking and allowing the clones to attack.
I consistently find enemies ignoring my illusions and zeroing in on me. I’d like to be able to redirect them to the illusions.
To my mind that seems what a Mesmer would do. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Most of my recipes are no longer unlocked. It’s as though I started over at a rating of 50 or so. Oops… maybe it wasn’t my mesmer. :: hangs head in shame::
I have to say that the main thing I’ve gotten out of spending 5 plus hours trying to get through this is to hate Brazilians. A warrior of the Brazillizn legion killed me and destroyed all my progress that took hours to accomplish. I hadn’t attacked and had no intention of attacking.. I can only hope the reward isn’t cheesy if and when I manage to complete this.
I’ve been fighting for Devona’s Rest for a bit ( world rank 21 ). The feeling is one of being a target dummy for the entertainment of other server players.
A common scenario is to have 5 or more warriors descend escorted by a thief and compete to be the first to get the “finisher”. There is no possibility whatever that I will win.
It reminds me of the Queensdale “train” in which 40+ toons ( many 80’s ) attack a helpless “Champion” and destroy it seconds then get credit for a champion kill.
I like a challenging game but this feels abusive. How about a little balance?
Stealth is not working. Bandits in CM see and follow me until stealth expires then kill me. I managed to stay aggro’d by a single bandit for more than 5 minutes. In addition, guns are hitting me right through stealth. Stealth is the primary weapon and skill of thieves. If A net chooses to destroy that, they will have disabled my favorite character.
Turmaine and Martha are now immune to kegs. This makes P2 too difficult to be worth it. Parties are simply quitting.
K, thank you for that.
My pet’s names do not “stick” they keep going back to generic names. How can I fix this?
Please create some non skirt options for Light Female Armor. If you have ever worn a long skirt you know that the idea of running cross country in a ball gown is a tad ridiculous. Fighting is even worse.
- Other Random observations **
GW2 continues to amaze me with the richness of the world. The political and philosophical vignettes, popular culture references and visual puns such as Nightmare weapons being sold by Valiant Serequel me paying attention instead of queueing up music on my headphones.
Please don’t go much more Steampunk in general. Anachronism is an interesting spice but too much will destroy the atmosphere.
I’d like there to be a way to craft precursor weapons. Even if it were an epic grind. I can’t see earning/buying 1000+ gold for a weapon that isn’t really a major upgrade.
The Captain in the Crows Nest bar, Lion’s Arch ( where the Whispers safehouse entry is ) tells an interesting story. It grates on me because it uses wrong terms. He states that The Capricorn can’t be made to weigh anchor and therefore never stops.
In fact, to “weigh” anchor is to pull it up. To moor, one “drops” or “sets” anchor. It shows an uncharacteristic lack of attention and is annoying to a real world sailor.
Great job in general A Net. The game is awesome.
There should be a way to run dungeons solo. The situation is now much like it developed in City of Heroes and Star Trek Online.
It’s the old schoolyard game of trying to be picked for a team and the elitism makes much game content unavailable to people like me who are not uber gamers.
