Please fix the rare veggie pizza exploit!

What’s funny is that it isn’t even an exploit – it’s just a bug.
What’s sad is the OP throwing the term around in order to “clickbait” people into his sensational topic.

It’s not even a bug too. The devs fully know what 20% condition duration means and purposely chose those stats to stick on the consumable as of HoT release.

There is really no point with convincing people their opinion is just only that, an opinion.

Some people think 20% condition duration is too good, some people think it’s too bad compared to what it was before getting nerfed (40% condition duration) and some people think it’s in the right spot.

There is totally nothing wrong with that but the fact of the matter is that the consumable is currently working as it is intended to be. Devs wanted it to give 20% duration and that is what it exactly does.

It being too much, too little or just enough is another discussion altogether.

blah blah blah

Having done one balance patch doesn’t mean it’s balance. It’s not. It is clearly not intended from at the dev’s perspective. Look at warrior 35-40k dps. Or look at condi necro 30k dps.

Toning the food down to +100 condi damage, +70 expertise should be one of the steps to normalize and tone down OP all condi builds right now. Anyone with a common sense can see that it’s not balanced. Too bad common sense these days is clearly not common as you said.

There’s a huge difference between something being over/under-tuned and being an exploit. You cannot claim its an exploit because it isn’t balanced(according to your opinion).

You called it an exploit which exactly means abusing some unintended mechanic/feature/item in the game in order to gain an unfair advantage. The devs intend Pizza to function as they currently do otherwise they wouldn’t tune it to those stats in the first place.

If they feel it’s too powerful then they will nerf it but it is perfectly fine to use it now and isn’t an exploit in any way.

English isn’t even my native language and it’s clear as day for me.

If you want to talk about condi DPS then Pizza is part of it but isn’t the right venue to balance condi DPS since nerfing it will also nerf decent/good condi DPS builds like rangers/engi to being bad. The balancing will be done specifically to lower Berserkers and Reapers DPS.

bla bla

They already did a balance pass on consumables at HoT launch. Devs determined that it was fair for the Pizza to give 20% condi duration, down from 40% condi duration during that balance pass.

That should be more than enough for anyone with a common sense to figure out it’s working as devs intended at the moment. The only catch is common sense is not common at all.

It won’t happen anytime soon simply because Windows 10 isn’t even widely used yet. If only a small percentage of people wants to upgrade to Windows 10 (even if it’s mandatory downloaded in the background offered for free by Microsoft) then logic dictates that they don’t even care about DirectX 12.

It’s not practical to throw resources on tech that doesn’t cater to majority of your target market.

I encountered an annoying bug during the phase where you can commune with fissures to drag enemies. The enemies were disappearing before the channeling finishes and last boss becomes invulnerable.

After several tries I think using a condi build was at fault lol. The illusions were getting killed by ticks so they simply disappear while I was trying to pull them to the fissures.

Had to switch to a power build and made sure I stopped hitting those adds as soon as fissures were ready.

Yeah, just 5 bolts of damask… at 12 gold each multiplied by ‘N’ balls of dark energy… Who has that much gold lying around? I haven’t made that much in the entire 2 years I’ve been playing!

Blame the TP flippers for the price. They have been pouncing on everything desirable in the past 2 weeks and jacking the price up. Endless bat tonic went from 80 to 278 gold.

You mean the people removing gold from the economy are responsible? For inflation? Really? o.o

Er, how does TP flipping REMOVE gold from the economy .. TP flipping is a gold TRANSFER mechanism from a player to a greedy player leeching off the hard work of others.

For what it’s worth, a gold sink removes gold from the game. Waypoint fees are a good example of this.

The Trading Post is not a gold sink. The gold remains in another player’s account and in the game, regardless if the player chooses to use this gold or not.

Working for an item, hunting for ingredients is all well and good. Depending on RNG to reward you for your work is like hoping your employer will pay you for your week’s efforts on their behalf. That is not work, it’s gambling your time in hope of a reward.

RNG is not grind. RNG is not work. With no guarantee of success vs. effort, RNG is gambling. Nightfury is a gamble due to the (randomness and) rarity of one of it’s ingredients. You can put in enormous effort (time) in obtaining what you can, but unless your odds improve over time and effort spent to the point of a guaranteed drop on all of the ingredients, it’s still a gamble.

Do you even TP?

5% listing fee and additional 10% fee after it gets sold says otherwise.

Need some advice regarding hardware upgrade

So I’ve been thinking about upgrading my secondary PC for Heart of Thorns and probably some other new games.

I have an i5 3470 and a Radeon 6970. I’m currently looking at different upgrade paths and I’d like to get your opinions.

First one would be to upgrade CPU and with a midrange GPU, something along the lines of getting the following:
6600k + Z170 motherboard, R9 380(or 380x if it’s out by mid October and if the price is right)

OR

Staying with my i5 3470 and get a better GPU and SSD (I do instanced content alot so loading time actually matters for me) instead:
GTX 980 + 250gb SSD

I can already feel the 6970 not cutting it for higher detail settings and a 980 will definitely max everything(provided my 3470 doesn’t bottleneck) but will I get significant gains when moving to a 6600k in Guild Wars 2 for zergy areas (and I guess 6970→ 380 is kinda noticeable too)?

Nemesis's new video on necro DPS is brutal

Haven’t taken Nemesis all that serious since he tried to proclaim that we out damaged Warrior. I’d love to see a “Nike reacts” video to this though, dude is going to blow a casket when he sees this.

Out DPS, yes, outburst, no. Again proven by numbers. And the real point was that since line-casted icebow does around 10 times more DPS/Burst than anything else in the game, DPS measurements are pointless from the get-go.

Only if 100% of the players know how to linecast realiably & DPS calcs assume line casted Ice Storms and Meteor Showers which are obviously not the case.

The only info you can’t take with a grain of salt is that Ice Bows are OP.

It’s probably intended.

They don’t want people to stockpile the consumable version for later use(it would hurt their revenue later on, specially with people considering making new toons when the expansion hits and increasing the demand for Bag Slot Expansions) but they sure want to spike revenue during the sale hence it’s 50% off for the non-consumable version.

I doubt you’ll get punished for buying stuff on the gem store outside of using fraudulent information for purchases.

Honestly, what baffles me is that with such a low droprate, people consider that they could farm for this item.

Isn’t it very obvious that it’s not intended to be farmed. It might be a lucky drop. Hooray, you got lucky.

Semabtics people doesn’t want to farm it they want to drop only ONE of it.

It’s genuinely a bit like lottery. If you try to “farm” the big win lottery, you’re stupid. Sorry. That’s a simple fact. However, individually you could buy a single ticket and hey, if you won more power to you, grats.

That’s not farming an item than trying to get ONE of it.

There are items intended to be farmed (Carapace pieces come to mind). There are items intended to exist as lucky bonus drops (like this one). Don’t try to force one to be the other, you don’t control dropchances.

The only other item that have such a stupid absurdly low drop rate like that than come to my mind is precursor.
That’s bullkitten; at least precursor aren’t account bound, you can also buy them on Trading post.
You’re right; we can’t control the dropchance but having an account bound item with suchh drop rate is STUPID

I think Anet hit the mark with this mini. They wanted to drive mini collectors nuts with this mini by being rare as kitten and its a huge success! (i.e. they don’t want every tom, kitten or harry running around with this mini).

BTW I have Gwynefyrdd mini on my alt and main accounts. Drop rates are fine. I wanted to pump luck and maybe get those expensive thingies but whatever. The return for gold is like 80-90% usually with the odds of getting something for several hundred gold so its okay except opening bags is less exciting than flushing rares in the MF.

You should open more ToT bags instead

The Horrible, Awful, Tragic Death of My Build

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

1. It would not had been difficult to have kept the reserve stat points for free issue.

Of course it would have been difficult! It would have required putting an entirely new system into the game to distribute stat points on top of what you get from gear – a redundant system, since you already have the ability to distribute stat points using gear.

That is not a trivial cost – players are already selecting their weapon sets, their utility skills, their traits, and their stats via gear – and that’s not even considering runes and sigils and food and oil. It probably doesn’t seem like it as a veteran, but it’s actually a pretty complicated character build system with a lot of moving parts. Why does it need another layer of stat assignment, on top of gear? What variety and depth is that adding to the game that stats from gear are not? What are you buying with that complexity?

It really wouldn’t have been difficult. It already existed and worked just fine. And I’m glad you like to pay a lot of money and spend hours to switch stat points but I much prefer my freedom and the ability to change often without consequence.

Well to be honest the new system gives you more freedom than the old one did.

You aren’t forced anymore to add useless stats if you want to access a certain trait line. For example, running Piercing Shards & Aqumancer’s Training without having to dump trait stats into Vitality and Healing, same thing with wanting to run PS on a Warrior and being forced to dump trait stats into Vitality (Boon Duration is ideal for PS though but that’s another story probably related to normalizing boon and condi duration the same way as Ferocity went).

Thoughts on recent silent nerf

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Izaya.2906

I can accept or deny why anet put downscaling in this game. It doesn’t matter what I think about this. Or you. However when a change is made I can have an opinion if it is needed. I think the change to downscaling was needed for a long time however my opinion is it was overdone, it scales down too much and makes me question the goal of leveling. If a random lvl 20 character is equal or stronger than my lvl 80 toon with full ascended gear I should get a refund for all purchases I made for this character because they are pointless now in downscaled areas.

I really don’t understand the people that say this makes lower level content too difficult. It’s like, Silverwastes, yea no that’s an OK difficulty, it’s level 80, the mobs are hard, but no one complains it is too hard.

They change down-scaling to essentially make it so that playing at a down-scaled level is actually like being that level and suddenly it’s the end of the world, the content is too hard, it’s like being crippled.

Like seriously? It literally took the downscaled content from facerolleasy, to just regular easy.

I wish people would get over this idea that because you are level 80 in max gear that you should somehow be a god walking around the lower level zones. Where monsters melt just from looking at you. If you want that, go play a game that doesn’t down-scale. You can AoE 1-shot all the grey mobs you want then.

Except nobody is asking to be gods, we’re asking to be more powerful than low level toons in green gear. You can ignore that fact for your own convenience all you want but it won’t change it. As it stands my level 21 mesmer in level 20 green gear does more than my full level 80 full exotic full meta build mesmer. Sorry, that is bogus and it needs to be fixed.

Except you have access to far more powerful traits and skills….

And in general you are likely a far better player who knows how to utilize proper skill rotation, combos, positioning, kiting, etc.

But if you want to completely focus on one aspect and compare the attack of a 21 mesmer vs an 80 mesmer, then sure, I guess then the level 21 mesmer is just so much better than your fully geared 80 mesmer… (even though your DPS will be far greater simply because of the traits and skills that have been unlocked)

Your whole argument boils down to: “Yea it’s easy, but I don’t like the fact that a low level character in level appropriate gear can auto-attack for more than I can because I’m a level 80 in the best gear and I need to feel like I am.”

Easy is easy. Who cares if it’s slightly easier for lower level characters. That’s the WHOLE point….

Those “powerful” traits are meaningless if they have underpowered base stat to scale from.

And I feel like your argument is “you are higher lvl, you play longer, you must be better/stronger – lets punish you for this”. This is exactly why some ppl are upset. We invested in our characters and now we are made in pair with lowbies – no matter if those are alts or new players. We put our time to lvl, to gear and explore this game. It is fully expected that we should be more powerful, not overpowered but stil more powerfull. Today the game punishes us for leveling our characters. Lol.

The fact that you need to feel elite in comparison to low level toons as opposed to just appreciating the content you unlock by leveling is really kind of sad.

Please show me where am I expressing my urge to feel elite. I am a total noob. Today the game punishes me for playing it because if I was a lowbie I would be stronger in the area I like to play in. This is ridiculous.

Lvl 20 should never be equal or stronger than lvl 80. I think this system is bugged and I’m waiting for confirmation from arena net if it is intended or is it bugged and when will be fixed.

If a level 20 is outperforming your 80 then the problem is obviously on your side.

You have access to stuff like Scholar Runes(10% damage, or any other runes with a flat out damage modifier), slaying/force runes (5-10% more damage, stack both then its 15-20% more), all traits, utilities & elites.

Go compare a lvl 20 and 80 ele and there is a huge difference. Full lava font uptime vs 66%, 10% on burning foes, 10% on fire attunement, access to fury(20% crit rate), 20% more damage on half hp enemy, 20% on disabled enemy(Frost Bow 5) , 10% on 90% hp, 10% on water attunement+vuln on enemy, etc.

I don’t see a lvl 80 not having a significant advatage even if his stats exactly matched a lvl 20.

Why can't we enjoy game to get gold?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Izaya.2906

Izaya.2906

All three can be cheated/fudge that’s why.

Jumping Puzzle? sit an alt at the end, or use someone elses Mesmer portal to bypass the whole thing.

WvW? Win trading, if there were nice rewards this would occur, there’s also no way to control the difficulty, one day it could be a cake walk, the next the 9th level of hell. So you’d have to balance rewards on it being the cake walk end.

PvP? same problems , outside of a monitored tournament you have to assume every PvP match is difficulty 0 because there is no consistency to the overall difficulty so it can’t have excessive rewards.

It’s the same problem you encounter with a lot of areas, another is exploration: can’t be rewarding because location guides exist.

For content to be rewarding it has to impose the same conditions on everyone attempting it or close enough to it.

And yet again, you still don’t get my point of this topic.
Question is, I’ll repeat it and try to represent it differently:

  • If this is casual game, why can’t everything that you enjoy doing being at least averagely rewarding compared to other things. Why can’t people enjoy game and get rewarded for what they do with +/-10% reward difference. With other words i would interpretate your comment as: “If you don’t do X, you can’t earn gold because it’s not hard enough. And i do X if i want to get gold, and I cannot do my favourite Y that i enjoy to earn it.”

You should direct your question to the game’s resident economist, John Smith.

Generating gold ingame from thin air is more of an economic concern than your “fun”.

What food buffs do you use in dungeons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Izaya.2906

Griffon Egg Omelets or Minotaur Steaks, Super Veggie Pizza on engineer(these are only 2 silver each and not significantly worse than the best ones).

But what’s more important are the +9% or +10% slaying potions(cost 1 token each). A high percentage of players don’t bother with this even if they are so cheap.

You can also further pump by making slaying weapons for sub lvl 80 dungeons with exotics(they only cost some arah/coe/cof tokens anyway, the slaying sigil isn’t that expensive too). That’s another 5% damage most are missing. Of course you also have a decision to make on what sigils to use on ascended weapons depending on how much you run Arah/CoE/HoTW.

Just like everything else, you have to spend money to make more money. You won’t accumulate wealth with a kitten attitude like pinching every penny that is significantly hindering your performance(losing out on possibly 15%+ damage off the bat).

You need to look up the Credit card that was used to buy the account if nothing else or you need to take your phone to the place that sells them and see about getting the chip replaced. Try contacting your bank to see if they have the credit card record on file.

The problem is not ANet’s negligence. The problem is that you have not yet provided the necessary information to prove ownership. The information you have provided so far is information that an account stealer can provide and ANet not confirming ownership on that basis is not negligence. So, yes. You need to contact and work with them.

Complaining on the forum will do nothing for you.

it wont the thing here is im giving up on my own account , also ill let u judge if its anet negligence or not when i link the tickets from my email, as i said i provided all respective info, no need to believe me ull see for urself, when i fell its all done ill just copy paste tickets even if they compromise my acc info i wont need my own account anymore i guess , sadly saying it but anet wont do anything .

but probably my tickets would let other people learn and see how their support care for em mainly for people that acutally spend real money in game and not gold.

but as i said ull get ur own judgement once u see the tickets

if i was looking for a fix i would have bring this up on account issues forum, the thing is simply im giving up , prolly ull understand once i link tickets or prolly u wont ever cuz im guessing ur one of the “lucky” or in wich all case “smart ones” never lost their serial w.e

but just think about this how did i change my email if u read i mentioned i changed my email 1 year ago , my email was hacked , and i didnt had serial code aswell, i just provided same info i did this time , and they changed my email but it seems support care less nowadays idk

So you got the email your registered your account with originally compromised, didn’t bother to even list your game SN on a text file or a crummy paper on a notebook, mysteriously lost info on the cc you used to buy the account and Anet is the negligent party?

Right…. I don’t think you won’t find any sympathy for you here.

Close the equipment gap

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Izaya.2906

HoT is the perfect opportunity to up the stats of exotics to be on par with ascended items.
Having no equipment spiral has always been one of the best things about GW.

So why not take this chance to even out the playing field and adjust the stats to one base level.

Now you might think the stat difference is rather small and has no significant impact. But if you compar it to other games like WoW, wich is pretty much the poster child for an endless gear treadmill, you can see the stat increase is about the same as in WoW, percentage wise.

If ANet comes through with their promises of “truly chalenging PvE content” I can’t help but wonder what this content will be balanced around.

If it’s balanced for exotics the hardcore crowd will just plow through the contend and be disappointed because it’s no challenge.
On the other hand if it’s balanced around ascended gear we will have a hard split in the community, at least in dungeons ect.

I’d be very interested to know how people who have all the ascended stuff would feel about a change like this.

It’s not even an “endless gear treadmill” kitten .

Ascended gear was introduced on Nov. 2012, that’s like more than 2 and a half years ago.

I don’t exactly see the next step in the endless gear treadmill that you are think exists.

How can you even define having ascended gear as top tier for 90% of the game’s existence as endless gear treadmill lol.

On the contrary, now would be the perfect time to stop being a lazy entitled player and start getting Ascended gear while waiting a couple of more months for HoT.

New Party Kicking Mechanic is Unfair!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Izaya.2906

Izaya.2906

To answer your questions:

Yes I have been kicked before for being new, yes I have been kicked before for not having the right build, and guess what? That is perfectly fine. They had every right to do so as it was their party. I just learned the ropes and moved on. So yes it is okay and well within reason. If he has to teach newer players then it is only fair he is compensated? Right? Right? Isn’t that the very nature of a transaction? To earn profit for your efforts?

No the nature of team play is not to carry and teach. The nature of team play is cohesiveness, familiarity and being ABLE to rely on one another’s ability because a trust is formed. None of which is present within interactions with new players. The act of teaching newer players is rewarding in another sense, but not within the cornerstones of team play. That is why none of the ‘top’ PvP teams have new players cycling in every week because they are practicing with their old familiar friends and players to better their TEAM PLAY.

now imagine if every one acts like that. you join a group, get kicked, join another, get kicked again, another get kicked again. Until you get “lucky” and find a group of completely new players. How would that run go? plenty of wipes and no one teaching you what you’re doing wrong.. so there is no growth and next time you’re going through all this cycle… until eventually you get fed up and quit.

On the other side there are the vets who stick together only vets dont play a game forever. some quit, some take a break, some move on to another game. The pool gets smaller and smaller and no new players are replacing the vets that stop playing because we have segregated them. Until one day it starts getting bad. its hard to find a party without a long wait so one fine day they decide perhaps its worthed to let new players in the party and teach them only by now so many have quit out of frustration and the game is a shell of its former self.

Was it worthed?

Her aim was to finish off the instance. That they’re helping her doing it is already compensation. By helping them understand how to perform better they’ll finish her off quicker… isnt that also compensation? Next time she goes for it she might get them in her party again and now they’re even better from what they learned and practiced in the meantime.. isnt this also compensation ?

Above everything else she would most likely have actually finished the instance instead of having to start from scratch… more compensation.

not really. You dont always get to team up with people you’re familiar with. as for cohesiveness and trust, yes most certainly but you dont foster those values by essentially telling people they dont know what they’re doing and should listen just to what you say instead. As a matter of fact if you look up how to set up effective teams a few common suggestions are to share knowledge, give everyone a chance and top above all is no ego.

By your “logic” people would’ve already quit when they encountered something someone didn’t teach them LOL.

How’d you think the first players who cleared content did it? They figured out the in the first place.

No one is entitled to get their hands held every step of the way. The only thing that hinders growth is yourself.

If you’re not willing to learn from resources or figure things out yourself you won’t get anywhere, unless you get lucky and get things handed to you, just like in real life.

give ascended equipment ability to stat swap

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Izaya.2906

Izaya.2906

with the new system making it so attributes are based off armor instead of traits, that means i need to create multiple sets of armor for different occasions. where do i store them?? i have 5-6 lv80’s and you want me to make multiple ascended sets for each just incase i need them for a certain fight?? that’s annoying as hell, the way to solve it imo would be to give ascended equipment stat swap so that it is more convenient for hardcore and casual player alike.

You should already have the extra set of armor by now if you really care so much about needed certain stats provided by trait points.

If you want to deal Condition damage, you want Sinister, Rabid or the like and have the armor for it now and have maximum condition damage.

If you want to be tanky(more toughness & vitaliy) you don’t even need to switch around armor to get the extra 300 toughness and 300 vitality you get from having 6 in trait lines providing them.

Armor actually gives the least amount of stats that you don’t have the option to change.

Weapon: 456
Trait Points: 1400
Trinkets: 1322
Armor: 799

Nothing has changed much, if anything, you are enabled to customize your stats further. You aren’t also forced to take unnecessary stats like Power when taking Dhuumfire to be used in condition build for a necro for example.

The moment you go down, you either failed yourself OR the team failed to provide active defence.

Exactly, and if you’ve failed or your team has failed, there should be some consequence aside from the small loss in dps uptime while you’re being revived.

Of courese there are a lot of different options reducing dmg. making the downed state missable for etruly experienced runners, but it would destory the wannabee zerker rings…

Destroying the wannabee zerkers would of course be a good thing. It should be a build that takes serious skill to run.

Most pre-made teams wouldn’t be affected much(if there is any effect at all) by removing downed state. People can run with low man parties anyway and if there are some mistakes they can afford a man or two perma downed and still be significantly faster than pugs and people actually going down in the first place isn’t that common.

When most “toxic zerker players” adapt( either get better or run more survivable builds), run times will just be a bit longer but most survivability comes from traits and utilities anyway so you don’t really get rid of the “toxic zerker meta”.

All you will force players to do(assuming it is really needed by the player for the content) is something like getting Vigorous Precision on guards, getting Feline Grace for thieves, running x/F on eles etc. The changes to what people are able to get away with will be insignificant and other gear/runes still wont be attractive at all outside berserker+scholar runes.

The majority of dungeon runners will just complain day one because of the change and how unforgiving dungeons are.

And while you do that you will just kitten casual runners(who weren’t running the “toxic zerker meta” in the first place) who suddenly can’t finish runs anymore or take extra 10-15 minutes per path to finish making running dungeons not worth their time in the first place.

TBH your proposal would probably backfire and make the dungeon running experience more toxic for the typical GW2 player lol.

hi guys,

I am almost done with Gift of Mastery, and im gonna farm for Gift of Fortune.
now should i keep them and wait for the new staff legendary or get the bifrost (i really love it. However, im afried the new staff legendary would have better looking than bifrost.

So,
What do you guys think ?

Make the Bifrost now.

Nothing is stopping you from making the new legendaries if you have the old ones.

If you can trade more than 500g in a week, what would be the purpose of limiting mailed gold to 500g a week in the first place?

The targeted parties(hacking gold sellers) would just trade off all the gold making the change to mailed gold moot.

At the very minimum, moving from ‘selling gold’ to ‘selling a random selection of objects based on their TP value’ severely complicates the gold sellers’ operations.

Sellers wouldn’t suddenly not have the option to sell gold only mind you. They can still trade more than 500g+ a week ingame if you facilitate it through p2p trading.

I was talking about why would you limit an activity(sending gold) and introduce something else to facilitate it again(trading) effectively making your first change useless.

Ranger Talk: Buff Range / Party Buff Range

in Ranger

You’re confused. I think you’re trying to express multiple ideas without properly defining each one.

Many a warrior uses a longbow.

A good warrior uses it in concert with their melee weapon and does well. Can you guess what a good ranger does based on the aforementioned?

Hint: This isn’t abandoning your weapon of preference. Adapting to changing circumstances in fluid combat is necessary.

No. I am not confused. That still does not change the fact that, yes, while Warriors utilize Longbows for certain scenarios like pulling enemies and whatnot, a Warrior still uses his main weapon type, that which is a melee-based weapon, more so than a long-ranged weapon they only use some of the time.

With that just said in mind, the only time a Ranger can get away with using a Shortbow or a Longbow is if they’re outside high-end content. You can say whatever you want, but that is just not right. Sorry.

Rangers, on the other hand —-- because of what majority opinion tells players to use, and do so —-- utilize their main long-ranged weapon only some of the time, and in doing so they instead utilize a melee-ranged weapon most of the time.

Do you see the difference here between a Warrior and a Ranger? Last I checked, the definition of a Ranger does not use close quarters combat weapons (most of the time) to deal with what they’re hunting; they instead use long-ranged weapons (most of the time) to deal with what they’re hunting.

Conclusively (since this is rocket science to everybody), my point is Rangers should not have to be or feel forced to use melee-based weapon in parties. They should be able to and allowed to utilize their primary weapon type just like every other class minus all the hate and scrutiny when doing so. That is what separates the Ranger from every other class and is exactly why they are not equal to all other classes because of their current game state.

Obviously I am not wrong about this being an issue or else it would not be talked about. And of course melee-based players are not going to understand (nor do they want to understand) because they are not the ones affected by this kind of stigma.

I’m curious, who exactly decides the “main weapon type” for each class?

When RP’ing or in DnD, when ranger is mentioned I always think about Drizzt Do’Urden with his double scimitars which are consequently melee weapons. Maybe we’re checking different sources, what makes your per-determined view of a ranger more correct than mine?

Seems to me that you’re just proposing lazy gameplay to be encouraged(Yes ranging from 1500+ is lazy gameplay compared to being in melee range where you can be hit by cleaving and PBAoE damage).

Making Legendary Weapons Truly Legendary

Legendaries in gw2 does not make you better than others, its only a weapon skin.

Oh that’s nice, since I wasn’t even talking about that. I’m saying those weapon skills do exactly the same function with exactly the same damage output, how the avatars visually perform those skills would look different, going beyond projectile visuals and footstep effects.

But you know… reading is hard. I understand.

You should explain it clearly that it does exactly the same thing as the normal rifle skill set except with different animations!

Ranger or Guardian: Best DPS In PvE?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Izaya.2906

Izaya.2906

Guardian can probably have more dps with the unscathed contender but that trait is not operational all the time (only when you have aegis up). Rangers probably have more dps and offensive support but Guardian has lots of nice support too (reflection, aegis, protection, blinds etc.). Rangers are more of a luxury in terms of support comparable to warriors.

So…rangers aren’t important to a group?

There are 5 members in a party.

Warrior gives the highest stat buff for all professions so it’s given that you take one. They can also provide alot of might effortlessly.

Staff ele is top tier DPS and has the almighty Frost Bow.

Thief is also top tier DPS with lots of blinds and the bonus of enabling easier skips that will save you alot of time.

Ranger has good burst damage and second to warriors for stat buffing.

Guardians gives aegis, projectile block/reflects, blinds, cleanses, stability and some might. These might not directly affect stats like a Ranger does but these enable other party members to not dodge and allow them to build more offensively(traits+utilities) and keep attacking or possibly channeling a hard hitting skill. Reflect can also be significant in damage(like in Arah).

It’s not just simply which one does more damage, you have to look at the bigger picture and ask yourself which one allows the whole party to do more damage in the long run.

Hmm, this isn’t making me want to play a ranger unfortunately. Sigh, back to guard?

If there’s a competent guardian already just hop on your ranger. If you feel there’s a need for you to play guardian to make your life easier then do it lol.

Yes, and you also have to craft the precursor in the end(who knows what mats are needed for them), not just do the collections.

Cost Of Crafting Ascended Heavy Armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Izaya.2906

Izaya.2906

I have 2 sets each of heavy, medium and light Armour in ascended and I don’t think it cost me anywhere near those figures Ayrilana with all due respect – it all depends on how much mats you gather. I buy some and gather others. I also have about 15 – 20 weapons in ascended. I have Grand Artisan status as have been crafting for over 2 years.

My gripe is that ascended equipment is not treated like all other items up to exotic – you can’t sell them (only a few mats) , you can’t give them to your wife which she would like and she can’t give me all the mats I need to make her stuff but has to destroy them. Empyreal fragments still take time collect even with the drop rate in silver wastes. Drop rates of mats for other things seemed to have decreased in recent days.

Pricing on the TP bears no relationship to cost in most cases. There are some inconsistencies here and there.

Gathering mats doesn’t make those mats “free” when computing for the total cost to craft something.

CPU: i5 4460
Motherboard: Asrock H97M Pro4
GPU: Sapphire Vapor-X R9 270X 2GB
Power Supply: Corsair CX600M 600W

Any opinions on these?

Can you stretch your budget some more and to what extent?
If yes, is your friend willing to overclock the computer he will build for you?
If not, do you want to bother with learning to overclock it yourself?

If not, then those are perfectly fine. Just browsing PcPartpicker, you can probably get a Seasonic S12II 620 Bronze for the same price for the CX600m.

It would be a minor change but an improvement on the QoL and the actual usablility.

This is out of topic question, but I see lots of T6 on those recipes. Aren’t those really expensive to craft to be cost-effective compared to 4 tokens(aside from the AC potion)?

I always thought they were account bound though because they cost a fortune compared to the 30 minute ones, that really sucks on top of expensive costs.

Pets buggy?

in Ranger

Posted by: Izaya.2906

Izaya.2906

For passive mode this is how it works now.

If you target something and press auto attack(whether you actually hit your target or not), your pet attacks your target.

If you hit something not targeted(aoe, cleave), your pet doesn’t attack it.

If something hits you and you don’t hit them back while targeted, your pet doesn’t attack it.

Passive pet auto-attack isn’t random at all and seems like a good QoL change at least for me (no need to hit F1 for pet to start attacking your target when in passive mode).
