Hey all, no worries, we got you covered.

Weapons, armor and trinkets with magic find will become account bound, lose their current stats and will gain the ability to be double-clicked to select one of several stat options depending on the item.

For example, if you have an Explorer’s Pearl Staff, you can now double-click it to change it to any other crafting stat.

We will have a blog post about it with more extensive information as well, keep an eye on the website.

So wait… ….WAIT WAIT WAIT…. * urnfff…. think I just dropped a brick here *

On Explorer’s… MF is THE primary stat. Being able to change that stat, means picking whatever PRIMARY STAT on whatever Gear set you want. This is a potential level of PowerCreep that not even Zerker4Lyfe minmaxxers have asked for.

You won’t get to change the primary stat on its own, you’ll get to choose from the existing combinations. So for example on an Explorer’s Staff you don’t get to make it Condition Duration / Power / Precision (because that combination doesn’t exist), you have to choose from one of these:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Explorer%27s#Triple_attribute

Not all of those are armor crafting stats.

Still no confirmation on Sentinel & Celestial though but they are both armor crafting stats.

Exotic to Ascended Weapon Recipe

So Anet has already added a recipe for an existing expensive exotic trinket( triforge) to be able to upgrade to ascended grade.

I’m suggesting you should do the same for weapons.

Add recipes for MF created exotics(with a similar recipe like triforge) which cost roughly the same if not more(Elementalist conjured themed weapons except Titans’ Vengance, Infinite Light, Foefire themed weapons, Dwayna bow/sb, Eye of Rodgort, Immobulus ) to be upgraded to ascended grade.

Precursor prices aren’t “manipulated”, there are obviously people paying for that price if they stay there otherwise you’ll see it get undercut soon(700g+ could’ve been farmed in a few days pre-ember/deadeye nerf).

Izaya.2906

Soon legendaries will allow you to change the stats on the weapon when out of combat. PVT->Zerk->Whatever on the fly.

Which is kind of useless if you ask me. It only really serves as a QoL thing when changing your whole build (which is not something you’ll be doing on the fly, because it requires a completely new set of equipment and a full trait respec). Otherwise, you’ll just end up having a weapon whose stats don’t gel with the rest of your gear.

Just think of it this way, you’ll have access to all the ascended stat combinations right when they are introduced and they are time gated to acquire. There are roughly 23 stat combinations right now so it is potentially worth 23 ascended weapons.

From what we experienced for trinkets you can expect each piece to be gated 10-30 days with a next to impossible rng acquisition rate so that’s definitely something to consider.

Zerg Farming: Needs to be stopped.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

@op
Zerg farming is totally fine & fun(I did some myself), its the type of rewards that needed some modification.

It was probably the best during the Plinx days. The abundance of drops was Heavy Loot Bags & Rares(i.e. crafting mats). You could farm for what you need but there wasn’t such a big production of money to cause heavy inflation. Heck, almost all the T6 mats I needed back then were gained from just doing Plinx.

Ember & Dead Eye were really bad for the economy in the long run(I farmed both of these).

I can’t say anything about the current invasion farm though because I haven’t tried it yet but from what I heard it isn’t really comparable to pre-patch farms.

Ember gave mostly items and a small coin reward. There was very little actual inflation involved with the ember farm (the pure gold gain from farming dung’s would have caused much more inflation if people had opted to do those instead). Ember did introduce tons of t5/6 and core/lodestones into the market and made them less expensive (they were getting a bit out of hand). Considering that we’ll need these for when 500 crafting comes out, it’s a good thing. If they hadn’t introduced more materials, but made the demand for the materials higher, then the prices would have shot way up. In the long run, it’ll be a GOOD thing for the econ (we are both speculating with this, but this is what I see happening).

The new event… is nothing close to the rewards from ember/deadeye. You can get about as many boxes just by doing the frost champs in the same period of time.

Ember created somewhere around 10g/hr, Dead Eye was around 20-25g/hr. Both are in no way “small coin” rewards compared to what was available prior.

Before that the best was CoF for around 5g/hr. If they really wanted to drive prices down they should’ve just kept the gold/hr stable across all activities while increase mat supply(I guess this was done this week with nerfs to both).

It depends, but some legendaries are cheaper bought than made(if you consider how long it takes for map completion which is the bulk of the time sink for crafting one, the rest like karma/tokens are gained naturally by playing the game).

That being said, the margin for profit isn’t that big compared for cheap/unpopular legendaries to farming with the time you’re doing map completion.

You’re also gonna sit there for a while waiting for the item you listed to be sold and in the end you probably only get 100-200g profit(which was like 5-10 hours farming last event, way too low for map completion time sink).

I’ll give Minstrel as an example, it was listed for 900g and sold according to spidy, its 722g to make and 765g after taxes and it sat there for quite a long time.

You’re probably better off investing in limited time items that have a high possibility of gaining in price over time.

The non stop howling is not what bugs me.
What bugs me is this legendary clips through any female Norn rangers leg/knee when wielding it.
With or without armour, it does not matter. I cannot even see the effects when I have it out cause its always inside my characters leg.

It’s an issue for all female offhands.

They hold offhands adjacent to their hand so it will always clip to the knees while males hold it pointing to the back.

Hello, i was wondering when Anet releases the new legendarys will they release a new legendary for each weapon type (greatsword, staff, sword, axe, etc…)?

because i’m not sure if i should start working for twilight or just save up the gold i have and work for the new legendary great sword.

in my opinion i would rather get the new legendary gs, because twilight is overused, but i really cant stand the urge of crafting twilight and what if i craft it and then 1 month later or so they announce/release the new legendary gs, or what if i don’t craft twilight( wait for the new gs instead) and after a while they decide not to release a new gs (because there are 2 or 3 if u count eternity).

It’s more like they meant it to be 1 gs(Eternity just like the one wielded by Risen Wizard in Arah) but decided to split it(Twilight & Sunrise).

Anet will make a new GS simply because there is a greater number of professions that have access to that weapon type & how popular these professions are.

If I were you just gather all the basic mats/currencies common to legendary recipes and if you feel lucky some inscriptions/mithril/elder wood logs to flush when the new legendaries are in.

Yea, he wasn’t even overclocking and had totally fine temperatures compared to the TjCase, suggestions just caused needless spending and hassle of trying to do it properly.

He said he could easily reach 65C in his original post. With my understanding that thermal shutdown for the FX-8320 and FX-8350 being 70C, I was concerned.

Ok I may have missed that one, even so 3c higher than TjCase isn’t something to be concerned about. It’s more like “your temps are fine but it can be better” scenario specially for a stock cooler.

Also thermal shutdown is higher than 70c, he’s already hitting 74c right now without even throttling down. Not sure what the exact number is though but its normally 90-100ish C, can’t find a proper data sheet for it unlike Intel ><

What i can do? Can anyone help me pls?…

First off, you already had perfectly fine temperatures(21c-57c ) when you first posted, you didn’t need to do anything. Anything below 62c is fine for everyday use for your CPU.

After changing to an aftermarket cooler you made it worse(38c-74c), so you definitely did something wrong as other posters above suggested(not cleaning properly, too much/little thermal interface material, method of application, not properly seated heatsink etc.). Nothing is wrong with your CPU.

Go look up some videos on how to properly clean CPU heat spreaders and heatsinks and follow them properly. Also look for videos about proper application of thermal interface material you are using.

Go try reinstalling the aftermarket cooler following steps carefully.

If you are still unsure about it or can’t properly install the heatsink yourself, you can look for a professional to do it for you.

Edit: You can also check the fan speed the new cooler you installed is running at, make sure its running at maximum speed.

You can use a program such as this: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

As for that FPS drop, yes its normal because of that smoke effect in your screenshot. Smoke effects drops FPS in GW2.

[Black Lion Trading] TP bought items should be account bound

Because the market should be based off of actual buy and sell offers, not flippers. Let the market normalize itself without the leeches.

But it does, if no one is willing to pay for the price that the flipper posts it simply won’t sell.

*sigh*

Of course that would be true … if flippers didn’t post lower than the sell offers and buy higher than the other buy offers, thus making others putting in buy offers higher than the flippers and making theirs the lowest of the sell offers. So yes, the flippers stuff almost always sells. But the guy they undercut doesn’t always sell.

Really … why do I even try using common sense …

Eh … I’m off to bed. Enjoy the rest of your discourse …

OP said that the solution will stop inflating prices artificially.

Like gaspara.4079 said, artificial inflation won’t be caused by flippers, unless they have total monopoly of the item, which rarely happens.

Items won’t be magically cheaper because you can’t flip. If people are willing to buy at 10g and multiple non flippers list lower than that, it will eventually hit and normalize at 10g no matter what.

And not to mention the problems it can bring, let’s say player A bought Dusk wanting to make Twilight then he changes his mind or anet nerfs GS for the class he is playing so he won’t be using it anymore. Instead of being able to resell it(probably at a loss because of taxes and low volatility of precursor prices), he will be stuck with a 600g item that he can’t liquidate.

I’m sure he won’t be pleased because everything bought on TP will be account bound automatically.

Legendaries should be Account Bound?

in Crafting

Posted by: Izaya.2906

Izaya.2906

I see your point but at the same time, if someone spends the time/effort/money to craft a legendary weapon, they shouldn’t be limited to having it on only one character.

I disagree with your use of the word “shouldn’t”. That’s a personal belief, not an absolute statement of fact.

It would be nice for some people if they could move legedaries around their account freely, but I don’t think it’s a necessary perk, or even a healthy-for-the-game perk that once you have a legendary you never need another weapon of that type ever again…

@bold
Not necessarily, I maintain same stat weapons but with different sigils for different situations(some are useless for pve but are great for wvw like Restoration & Stamina). This won’t change even if we had an account bound legendary with interchangeable stats.

@OP
First decide on what you wanna main for WvW and is the class okay for you to run more in PvE and what weapon type is mostly used for both scenarios.

You might want to look into Juggernaut for your warrior/guardian, its not used that much in PvE for warriors but its used alot for WvW.

For guards, you can hammer in PvE and its also useful for WvW for blasting and area denial/knockbacks. And if ever they decide to make it account bound both your classes can use it.

If you have patience, you can also just gather mats/gold(aside from the precursor) and wait for the precursor/ascended weapon update coming soon™ then make a more informed choice.

If skills have delay then its server fault, you can’t do anything about it even if your connection is good.

Valks Worth It for DS Build?

in Necromancer

Izaya.2906

You also will not hit 100% crit rate in DS form with valks.

Yes you will, with Superior Runes of the Eagle.

Zerk gear isn’t the only, or best, way to get to the 50% crit chance “sweet spot” for a DS power build. Valk armor is incredibly strong in this build. You’re spec’d to own in DS, so the longer you can stay in DS the better. With Valks, and the right traits, you can easily spend the predominance of your fights in DS — plus have the survivability to generate back your LF and still be in the fight. Zerks will put up bigger numbers; Valks actually works better.

Op is talking about an all or nothing situation here.

As op said, valk = 8.2k hp, berserker = 30% crit rate, you aren’t gonna get that 30% crit rate from going eagle runes, max you’ll get is 26% with 30 in curses and eagle runes.
You’ll also miss out on alot more potential damage from Ruby Orbs/Scholar Runes.

I’ll go rephrase my earlier post, berseker gear is best if you know when/what to dodge in PvE dungeons, but if you need some HP buffer its perfectly fine to mix some valks in.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to get at:

Life Force building aside (that depends entirely on skills/utilities for the most part), I’m wondering if the extra time in DS allowed by Valks is worth the trade-off for crit chance.

You also will not hit 100% crit rate in DS form with valks.

I’m not looking to be tanky—but to maximize uptime of DS.

From experience going 30 10 0 0 30 full zerk & reaper’s precision/vital persistence with warhorn offhand gives more life force generation and overall damage compared to mixing valks in.

You also won’t hit 100% crit rate in DS form with valks.

What DS could use is 0 cooldown, making it so you can swap to DS at any time (sort of like an Engie kit), as long as you have the necessary life force to do so.

They can’t make it 0 cooldown because it will be OP with enter/leave DS traits(perma fury, stability, condition removal, retaliation, area heal etc. /spammable area weakness, bleed, vulnerability)

No degen would be too powerful too(at least in PvE where you can effectively avoid any damage, 4-5k constant piercing /vuln & might stacking ranged AA’s )

You can check real time costs to make weapons here:
http://calculator.bravevesperia.com/

Personally speaking I went with Infinite Light on my guardian instead of Bolt because it kinda looks better for a guardian IMO.

There are additional time sinks involved on legendaries, most of them are for this component: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Mastery

Optionally you can put a buy order on a legendary for what they cost(more or less because of RNG on clovers) and it might get filled.

How long it will take for you to farm for them will depend on how you earn your gold. If you flip items and you’re lucky you can cash in really fast (like sentinel mats, f&f dyes).

But if you’re CoF farming you’ll just have to compute how many hours it will take for you to get 1kg+.

Eeeegod why? Why on a guardian? I can see on a mesmer, ranger, or a thief as one handed swords are decent on them, but guardian?

I like it alot for roaming in WvW and as for PvE full zerk with Right Hand Strength hits like a truck with spammable blind/ranged block.

And of course it looks kittening good with human heavy t3 XD

Well.. All Legendaries will have Ascended stats sooner or later, exotic not, also I think Mjolnir is the most overpriced item and hurts my eyes, it should be ~350 gold instead 1050 like other Elementalist weapons-skills.

I keep reading this myth and I want to believe it but for me it’s just heresay. Does anyone have a link where Anet dev has actually stated that Legendaries will be upgradeable to Ascended status?

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/

You’ll also see more Legendary items in the future and an update to our existing Legendary weapons. Legendary items were always intended to be on par with other “best-in-slot” items. So fear not, all existing Legendary weapons, which are currently on par with Exotics, will be upgraded to be on par with Ascended weapons at the same time that we add Ascended weapons to the game. Thus Legendaries will remain “best-in-slot” items. All Legendary items going forward will be of Ascended power.

How long it will take for you to farm for them will depend on how you earn your gold. If you flip items and you’re lucky you can cash in really fast (like sentinel mats, f&f dyes).

But if you’re CoF farming you’ll just have to compute how many hours it will take for you to get 1kg+.

unfortunately, the light armor obtainable from the karma vendor is mainly magi with single piece of rabid.

My bad, I only bought ones for my guardian months ago lol.

Anyway, you could always trasmute some soldier stats to them from wvw vendor or ac/se/hotw armor if you have some fine transmutation stones around.

Even with a damage focused guardian you still have access to area denial if your purpose is to heal/get downed allies up.

Melandru runes and/or Lemongrass Poultry soup are more than enough if you have problems with conditions against a big zerg.

+Condition duration runes/food isn’t that good because of condition cleanse and Melandru runes + Lemongrass Poultry Soup being popular.

If you’re sitting on alot of disposable karma then you can get soldier armor with Melandru runes from Melandru temple in Orr.

Mystic Forge for precursor

After reading all this I’m not sure if I should try MF for Zap or not. Then I’m not sure if I should use rares or exotics.

I’ve been screwed over on clovers enough that I’m leaning towards just saving my gold and buying the precursor (or continuing to wait for the scavenger hunt, or other precursor acquisition mechanism).

If you’re gonna use the MF by crafting/buying rare/exotic swords, go for the more expensive precursors and sell to buy zap.

Lack of Recognition for Legendary Crafters

so ppl now want to be openly recognized for having the luck to have a precursor drop for them?

No, they don’t. They want a title they can display so that people will stop thinking of them as wallet warriors that bought a Legendary with daddy’s credit card. It’s not about bragging rights, it’s about some way to say “no, I didn’t use a credit card. I actually worked hard to get this, so kitten”.

It’s also about the profound lack of titles available in GW2.

You do realize that you can buy ALL the ingredients for a legendary weapon out of the TP?

Gift OF Mastery

Although its not exactly hard, it’s still something that can’t be bought. Getting gift of Exploration is a kitten if you’re going for more than 2 legendaries(for me its kinda boring after the first exploration).
