Though I think it’s an “ok” skill, if you took one stack of stab away, then shaved a couple secs off it, and it would be worthy of Minor status IMO. I mean, I get that for dodging on my Rev with no CD as a Minor. Though Recovery Matrix is kind of a no brainer for PvP modes. It might turn out to be OP if SC worked on any Gyro use without a CD on the skill itself.

The Tempest has a chance to actually take you down, Chrono not so much(as far as the Meta builds go). Both are great at support, Tempest can heal teammates much more. Obviously it would matter what your strat is, but in most cases I’d rather have double Tempest on my team than double Chrono, all player skill equal. This is post Precog nerf.

This Seems quite susceptible to kiting and condi. Only staff 4 for long CD transfer and WoB which is weak, sadly. I’d at least take Plague Signet. I run pretty close to meta and that doesn’t seem enough a lot of the time, so a lot of the time I run Generosity and Energy on both weapon sets. Other than that, looks like a fun build.

I don’t think it’s fair to assume all Ppl at the top are gaming the system. Especially w/o proof. I think in most cases they’re trying to cut down on queue times. If anything the “culprits” are the designers if the system.

I’ve been really enjoying EOTM lately with all the fights happening, not running around keeping away from each other’s zergs as much, karma training like before. It seems an influx of regular WvWers have made their way into EOTM right after HoT released. I find it a double edged sword though, because a lot of these players are in there because they really dislike or the ppl they play with dislike the new BL, and EB is queued or there’s nobody around to fight or to fight with in their WvW matchup so they make their way to EOTM to find WvW like battles.

I understand that some ppl are surprised that’s the zergs actually engage with each other now, but that just makes for a more fruitful Karma Train. It’s actually engaging and fun now. Not ‘put NetFlix on and ktrain mindlessly’ like before. For the people upset about there being fighting, just pay attention and stick to the commander and not be part of a big fat tail to get ganked or split in half by the enemy and wiped, and you’ll have a better time in the long run. The more ppl that do that the better.

Hopefully they will nerf it next patch because right now its too strong.
Increasing some of the energy cost on weapons skills might be a good idea.

FYI OP isn’t saying nerf, he’s getting rolled over while on Rev…He’s saying condi reks him. And yeah, i agree Rev is quite weak against condi burst in pvp. In wvw at least you can use food & cleansing sigils which aren’t in pvp. But I don’t see many people using pure condi builds in pvp. I use purity & generosity sigils with Hoelbrak and Jalis over Shiro just in case though. I’d rather not use Jalis tbh, but I don’t like being completely hard countered if I can help it. IMO Rev should be weak against something, and in it’s form now(except for all the bugs), it’s great in all other areas. Maybe some more stub break options could be in order. I feel naked compared to the 3(+1 at 50% health) I usually run with Reaper.

Yeah it’s bugged. I’ve been hit by conditions while in Unrelenting Assault as well and I don’t just mean confusion proccing which is also another stupid bug.

I don’t think it evades damaging condis from certain attacks that aren’t the type to proc on crit/hit, just direct damage attacks. But I could be misunderstanding what you meant. I haven’t had a coffee yet today…

Holy misleading title. I was excited for a second there. I’m guessing most actual WvW players don’t really care much about master of ruins and dailies. It’s nice for some ppl that this was looked at, but the BLs were definitely not “fixed”. I think a red post saying they’re taking in all complaints and really looking into the problems that have flooded every GW2 WvW forum on the internet. I know not “everyone” is hating on the Desert BL, but a good 95% of the posts are people who are upset, and many have great ideas to fix them. Players just want to hear something is being done. GW2/WvW is hemorrhaging players, and I think a dev post or two would really help the game or at least the negativity a bit. No?

Just play what’s fun for you OP. Though don’t stink at it, or I doubt you’ll keep enjoying yourself. Roaming meta historically have been professions that can safely go to any spot on the maps, take objectives fast, kill players and be able to disengage large groups. Disengage being king. Though people roam on all professions. And some players can do very well on ones with sub par escape methods with lots of practice and a generous amount luck. Like with base Necro w/spectral walk jukes or worm for example.

I think once more players have their Elite Specs all unlocked and learned well, Power Chrono will be dreaded imo. The potential for them is scary. And I think good Daredevils will make the kids cry. So many ways to make you miss your big dmg and leave anytime they please.

I have WvW’ed about a grand total of an hour (max) since HoT released. The maps are just too big (even for T1 – can’t imagine in lower tiers) and stays dead during off hours 90% of the time with backcapping here and there.

Aesthetically speaking, alpine BL beats the current BL by a large margin.

Also, WTF with the events at the centre? Pathetic when WvW community wanted PvE to be removed, Anet goes on to add more PvE. Sorry, but its equivalent of showing the middle finger to the dedicated ones who care about this game mode.

Yeah, that’s EXACTLY how most people feel. I know gamers can be fickle and don’t like big changes, but just look at all these threads on here, reddit, salt forums ect. Adding that PVE event so a laser can PVD for you is still making me ask “WTF were they thinking?” I can handle most of the changes tbh. I’m stubborn, so I’ll keep seeing if ppl come back, but with all the new hyped RvR MMOs coming soon…this game could be in trouble. We had a nice thread a couple months ago saying WvW was getting worked on to fix the problems it had like night capping ect. Then they add auto upgrades so when other servers wake up everything is fully upgraded and have to spend a lot of time taking it back. That’s if you want to spend the time ktraining, cause normal NA times it’s dead, that’s all there is to do under T3. Yuck.

Maybe put a poll up with change ideas, devs? There’s 100s of them posted in every GW2 WvW forum out there. See what the community wants, see what’s feasible to implement, and go for it. That’s if these threads are being read. At all. We’ve been laughing about imagining them sticking their heads in the sand hiding like an ostrich when WvW is brought up.

EOTM is booming though. So the excuse that PvE is leeching ppl away from regular WvW isn’t that believable anymore.

Nah. I ran curses/sr/reaper with berzerker runes I just slapped a sigil of smoldering and bursting on my staff as well. I thought about going for flame legion/balth but the 5% increased damage on both power and condi should be worth more than and extra tick or two of burning if I did my math right. I’m still not entirely sure whether malice is better than smoldering for this tho and i cant be bothered to calc it. Anyway, either I’m worse than I thought at theorycrafting or condi reaper is awful.

Has the Berserker Rune bug been fixed? Wasn’t/isn’t the 6th tier skill not working?

IMO the rewards shouldn’t come from thin air in WvW. It should be a “put your money where your mouth is” type of gameplay. For example blue team puts 100g down that they’ll take SM in the next hour and red team puts 100g down that they’ll defend and the side that wins pulls out 200g. WvW needs somekind of zero sum risk/reward system IMO to keep it really interesting.

That sounds interesting. Too bad so many tiers are lop sided in terms of players/coverage right now. WIth the tiers like that, it might be hard to get two servers to agree to that very often. I really do think we need something to spice the game mode up without adding guards or kill 10 rats for a buff or something.

How about maybe every hour or so, start an event and have a call to arms for the most bad-kitten people to meet at a certain spot to fight it out for a prize and/or points. Make it even numbers depending on each sides total players on the maps at that time. Like 3v3 up to zerg vs zerg. When the event starts, only the ones who chose to fight(by hitting a yes or no icon or something)can attack/be attacked by the other side(so nobody trolls) in the area. Maybe sometimes make it a 3 way battle royal. And no siege or portals to run to in the fight area. If you leave the area, you’re out/downed or something. Maybe make the pve laser event area the battle area so it doesn’t clash with ppt-ers.

Those big numbers from power Reaper are a beautiful sight. I’m a power Necro at heart, but condi isn’t in such a bad spot as a couple weeks ago. I’ve had some really really good games lately in pvp with condi Reaper. I prob won’t switch to condi for WvW, but I might play it more in pvp. Keep those vids coming Hollts! Curious to see if/when you put out a Chrono vid some day.

OK, this worked for me. Rt click on your gw2 or gw2-64 exe and select Properties. Add this to the end of the target line after a space -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80 hit apply and try it. Hope it works for everyone…

I’m having the same problem. I tried both old and new 64bit exe. But if you’re stubborn like I am, and let it sit at 0, it does eventually start back up but at 10kb or so off and on. I’m gonna let it sit and watch Sportcenter and cross my fingers. GL

Competitive players should abuse any comp they can get their hands on. If you’re in a competitive tournament, your goal is to win. When you abuse something that the developer feels undermines their design philosophy, it’s a brighter spotlight on what they need to act on.

Plus, it should force other teams to try to figure out ways to beat it, even if they bring their own crazy comp. Nothing should be taboo.

I’m in total agreement with this. Well said..I feel the same way in FPS tourneys and sports among other things.

Rune choice depends on many different things. Profession, build/traits, solo roam/frontline/backline/gank/havok ect ect.

To add to that advice, I’d say since you don’t use Spectral Walk(a Necro roamer’s best friend), Travelers Runes, or Quickening Thirst, I’d take WH over offhand Dagger for swiftness. A roamer needs to get around fast. Or away fast. Plus there’s the 4 skill that interrupts, and the LF generation from 5 would help you a lot since you’re not taking Soul Marks. The armor should work nice. And the rune choice is good. I like Strength Runes myself. They rock. And Travelers for roaming isn’t a bad choice either. But Pack isn’t a bad choice. GL HF

Apparently there are problems with the megaserver system churning out multiple empty overflows and people not being prompted to roll over onto more populated maps, but we haven’t had any more correspondence from anet on this.

I’m guessing Donee means roaming in WvW. I 100% feel his pain. Hopefully people are just using pve to get their Elite specs maxed and come back to the fight. Halloween isn’t helping either. I really hope it’s not that WvW was killed for the ppl that are MIA….

I always suggest Hydromancy. In your build it would work very nice. And myself, I like to use a fire sigil on a cleave weapon to really know when I’ve hit a stealthed enemy. Though that’s mainly for WvW. Energy, Intelligence, Doom, Fire, Hydro, Air, Blood are all good. I haven’t tried Ice for a chill build yet. But it might be worth a test.

Edit: Forgot to add, I’d try Strength Runes with your build.

I think this idea would help a bit with most servers but gold tier. This should be very easy to try out for the devs. I don’t want these guys’ hard work to go to waste. Though as any person with eyes can see by looking in this and every other WvW forum on the internet, that this isn’t working at all. A select few do like it, and tbh I’m not surprised. Some players actually don’t want to see other players when in WvW. It’s nutty, I know, but there’s always someone with the opposite taste as the average person. But this is the needs of the many vs the needs of the few situation I’m thinking.

I really enjoy roaming on my Necro. Though it’s not a traditional roamer at all.

Like another stated, it’s like playing in Hard Mode. You are at a disadvantage for sure, and I definitely have to keep eyes out for lrg. groups more than on a “roaming” profession with proper escape skills. Worm and Spec. Walk are a must for Necro roaming. It’s not as easy to pull off escapes as a teleport, FGS, GS/Sword Warrior or stealth, but as long as you don’t have a zerg with a big tail of fat squirrels surrounding you, it’s super effective with practice. Sometimes just a juke from S. Walk is enough when you have cliffs around.

Note: Then you have the recipe for worm stomps on your bar when you kill other roamers

Here’s what you do.

Create a personal guild.
Put all your items from all your toons in the guild bank.
Delete all your toons. This will let you transfer to another server for free.

As gavyne.6847 says, look at /http://coveragewars2.com and see which servers are doing well in the times you typically play. Transfer to that server as long as that server isn’t full.

If you want to run with a lot of people, create a Guardian, Warrior, Elementalist and/or Necro and level them in EotM to 80.

Enter WvW, I’d start first in Eternal Battlegrounds or your home borderland and see which guilds are running. Ask them for Teamspeak info and join their channel after verification and listen. Say in map/team chat you’re new to WvW and need build help. Someone will give you directions to gear up your toon(s). Take your time and follow several guilds, eventually you’ll find one that you’re comfortable with.

This is the best advice. I feel bad you picked ET as your first WvW server. I don’t mean anything disrespectful or personal towards ET, I actually feel for those guys, I mean that in finding action to learn the game mode it’s far from optimal. I’d say stick it out for a little bit though, maybe find others on that server to play with and only leave if you can’t ever find action on the times you play. I hate suggesting to leave the low tier server because they need help(but TONS of it). If it’s between that or not playing, I’d transfer. If you want the best action at most times, I’d suggest T2-5. Maybe 6 if you only play NA prime. GL HF

If you’ve done enough WvW to warrant an insta-built character, you should have thousands of skill points.

Give me a break. My oldest character with full world completion has 200 HP. There are only a little over 200 HP total achievable. Characters that I build purely to WvW with over the last 9 months have 10% or less total map completion, and have 30-50 banked HP each. Based on datamined numbers over on the HoT forum they are talking about 170 HP needed to get your elite spec up and running.

Simply not enough time in the day for me to unlock the 5 elite specs I want to play in WvW. Would take about 3 weeks game time to do so, and that means 3 weeks of PvE, not 3 weeks of WvW.

Your post made me cringe. Though I think I’m going for 4 elite specs off the bat. In case it takes longer than expected, I’ll unlock the ones I expect to use the most early on. I hope it doesn’t take us that kittening long. But I’ll try to make the best of it, I have cool PVE guildies which will make it more fun at least…

I like those ideas for tag changes. How about a set of binoculars for scouts? Another added bonus with using shapes is this could help people who are color impaired.

Adding direct damage to thief traps isn’t a bad idea. A competent thief can just clown players all day with the Ghost build. It’s funny to watch though for sure.

I like the idea of removing the supply component to stealth traps and add a cooldown to them.

You’re too nice Seriously good writeup you did. Though if someone who complains about stealth hasn’t rolled Thief/Mes by now to learn it….they’re hard to take serious tbh. I’m not meaning it in a jerkish way at all.

Another easy tip if you have a weapon that cleaves on AA and have an OK crit chance, use a fire sigil so you don’t have to look to see if your AA is chaining when you hit them while they’re stealthed. Especially helpful when you’re in WvW and are sweeping for Mesmers in a keep for example.

How do you deal with/clear conditions? Just the single 30sec shout, which you have to hit your opponent to transfer doesn’t seem enough against any condi build. A lot of the condi builds stealth/reposition after their burst, not easy to hit to remove those cancer stacks.

IMO I do think PU trait bonus is a little much(and I play quite a bit of Mes in WvW). Maybe add 25-50% instead of 100% increase? Fix the Pledge bug would help with the QQ a lot also. I’d be willing to bet a good portion of the players say it was PU that made them lose against a Mesmer w/o said Mesmer even using the trait though. I’m not meaning all here QQing BTW… I’ve gotten quite a few salty whispers from someone I stomp when I wasn’t even using PU. And I do use it tbh, but it’s situational for me. I don’t use it in all my builds. I don’t mind adapting to the usage of stealth or condi the way it is now. I’ve always been adapting my builds for the new FOTM or meta builds so to speak. A good soldier adapts and overcomes.

My opinion on conditions as they are now, other than the passive proc for confusion they aren’t bad or over the top, it’s the fast re-application/stacking. Especially from the low/zero cooldown skills. But that’s all my opinion, and that’s coming from someone who owns 2 condi sets out of 6 lvl 80s and mains a power Necro. I don’t feel like I’m biased at all. With condi builds, go against a DS ele, most Necros, or a good/smart War or Guard and your damage is neutered. With stealth, I think if people actually really play on a Mes or Thief for a bit, they’ll understand it’s not godmode.

I personaly like the Hybrid the most.

I run all of those builds except mantras. I too enjoy the hybrid a lot. I use Traveller Runes on all my Mes builds, but when HoT drops that’ll change. For the longest time I imagined hybrid Mes not working well, but it really does. It’s nice to have great viable build diversity.

You pretty much see it all as a roamer. Gankers, roamers, ppl getting their daily on bloodlust nodes, ppl running back to their zerg, ppl waving from siege in towers, even uplevels that look lost

I found some solo guy ramming a tower I was trying to defend so naturally I tried to stop him. Unfortunately he outplayed me so I ran inside like a chicken when I was nearly dead. A servermate came along and the other guy stopped ramming to /bow to my servermate. They had a duel and my servermate won, backed away from the guy’s downed body and I came out to stomp him (: I got flamed and called an @sshole and I just said “welcome to WvW, enjoy your stay.”

You’re as bad as the people that fight a 1v1 and don’t get stomped because the person that won doesn’t care enough/is polite… gets rezzed by 4 buddies that happen to come along and then /laughs over the corpse of the person they just lost to.

It’s unfortunate Anet won’t give us a place to duel. You could say spvp rooms but they don’t allow all the builds wvw does. Also you can’t tell duelers to go into a corner away from everyone because you need to go where people are to find fights.

I wish people in wvw could just get good and then they wouldn’t need to jump on 1v1s just to get a stomp every now and then.

If I find myself about to duel, I use the /beckon emote to have them follow me out of the main paths. But I know, it’s spontaneous and organic sometimes and people die when it happens in a not so secluded spot. Oh well, at least we have unlimited lives In most cases interrupting duels is bad form. Unless you’re just out to troll for a bit, but hey, everyone finds fun in different ways in this game.

Hmmm, that’s a good question. I’d like to know the answer myself. I’ve been playing more Mes in WvW, and trying to learn everything about the profession(almost obsessively).

I haven’t noticed any positive population changes on my server at all. I’m not sure its a correlation, but since the Golem Week debacle, WvW seems to have thinned out quite a bit. I’ve actually started playing fps games a lot more lately and mainly WvW during NA prime when we have more than 5-10 players across all the maps.

I’ve gone against them quite a bit until quite recently and they have a good sized WvW presence. Big zergs and a good amount of roamers/havoks around. There were always Ppl to duel against. I can’t attest to their inner problems ect, but the Ppl I met in OS and roaming around were cool. They’ve grown quite a bit in recent months. The morning presence was average for the tier then. It seems a lot of the tier 5-6 servers are a lot larger lately. You can tell by how fast a few are climbing ATM.
