it’s christmas here!
merry christmas everyone
kitten off-hour folks even get xmas before us…
Happy holidays
Down-vote moderation can be trolled hard, so I hesitant to use that one.
What about a system like orrmaps.com where anyone can moderate — and the user has a preference of moderators:
for example, you go into the NSP-IoJ-CD thread and there’s a pulldown list of volunteer moderators — JaneDoe and JohnDoe, for example .. if you choose JaneDoe from the list, then you see only the posts that JaneDoe hasn’t ticked as “blocked.”
This is a good idea as well.
Added a bit of additional code to delay vote evaluation by an hour. So comments will live an hour at a minimum to allow for ‘saving’ votes by other forum members to help prevent comment moderation should ‘downvote abuse’ be occurring.
That said, also changed the comment moderation from ‘delete’ to unpublish. That allows the comment to be retained and reposted. Right now I don’t intend on anyone else being asked to review unpublished comments… as we haven’t even chosen which site to use.
Is there a way to make it so that the down votes or stars or however they are calculated like a spam filter that we can control in our personal settings? So say I am fine seeing all posts even if they were down voted 20 times, I would still see them all. If I were a sensitive snowflake like Coghbyrn, then I could set it for 2 down votes and stop seeing the posts once they reach that point.
Couple this with the ability to ignore a poster entirely and it is all the moderation I would need.
At least Anet had standards the Mods had to follow. With fansite forums, players themselves do the moderating. So if a fansite Mod had grudge against, say Black Gate, he could restrict them all.
Yes because ANET had no biases….
Prove they have biases, if you would. When you don’t, I’ll be over here, watching you not prove anything.
Also, nice bias.
Post a constructive post on the moderation system and how it could be changed for the better and then count how long it takes for it to be removed.
Also, thank you for stalking me, it makes me feel warm and cuddly inside.
And now you know why Mag hates Yaks and SBI.
I used to think TC was the worst server, but Yaks beats them hands down at being the worst.
So we’re not even the best at being the worst anymore? kitten
Nothing wrong with coming in second.
I thought you said JQ was worse than us. MAKE THE LIST.
Hmm… I do not recall that, but it is a valid point, tough call.

Nothing new means nothing poorly implemented as well. Good to look on the positive side of things.
in that case TC’s motto is “we used to be nicer”
mag can have “we used to be roamers”
Where you been hiding? Haven’t seen you about.

Is that FA’s motto
huehuehue
I think FA’s motto is ‘we are not what we used to be’.

I would enjoy playing WvW if we were grouped against servers closer to the SoS skill level. I’ve played for kicks and mostly feel kicked-around. Looking up WvW builds help, but competition with others closer in the SoS skill level is a big help, too.
Any thoughts?
This game is not about skill, it is about coverage and population.SoS’s ranking reflects an off-hour coverage that is higher than servers below them, but not as much as those above them. Isn’t it fun?
Interesting. When FA beat TC last week it was because of their superior organization and outstanding open field fighting skills.
Now with FA in 2nd place…its because of 2 v 1.
Some things never change.
Yes because this thread is full of people talking about 2v1… seriously, read more then one post before you share your wisdom with us.
Taunt the zerg melee train, kite while they faceroll every button on their keyboard, then hit them.
No excuses reallity i was not online when all of that happen ^^, anyways Happy Holidays, enjoy the game.
Im enjoy the beach and the sun ^^ envy me Canada. !!
I just spent an hour racing down my driveway on sleds with my kid. More fun than I ever had at a beach.
Looking forward for another year of either 1) ignoring WvW outright or 2) implementing half backed ideas to WvW in a way that makes things worse. Most importantly looking forward to not having to care because new games are coming.
Game encourages large team play. It wont happen, and I hope it doesn’t.
Killing karma trains is very fun and I know a lot of guilds that enjoy the zerg busting
Blobbing is not team play, it is follow the leader at best.
Answer: Josh “grouch” Davis is a GW2Guru employee whom now works for ArenaNet.
So ANET hired Josh. Josh convinced them to axe the matchup forums expecting everyone to go to gw2guru. Josh gets big kickback. ANET still controls our forum posting through gw2guru.
All makes sense now…
The only way to reduce blobbing (without revamping the entire combat system or putting in some arbitrary scaling mechanic) would be to reduce the map population caps to about 60 players per map.
Then people would run in 60 man zergs. :P
The only way to stop it is to change average human behavior, which won’t happen. The mistake that Anet makes is that they reward this playstyle instead of punishing it.
This. Change reward structure, problem solved. Serious players all hoped that the WXP system would be introduced properly and with this in mind, it wasnt and here we are months later, same problem. ANET runs in those blobs, they do not see it as a problem.

Tyrion – Best commander on NA servers. Hands down.
disclaimer: person that recorded is a clicker….
This deserves its own thread.
Tyrion is the master of breaking enemy zergs.
It’s the superior coordination.
Tyrion – Best commander on NA servers. Hands down.
I’ve never followed him, but that is absolutely amazing.
I am not even sure how you would follow him. I had no idea what he was saying most of the time.
My horse is higher than your horse.
How many hands?
Hahaha, the vitriol in these types of threads has only gotten worse since I last poked my head in on one. No wonder they’re potentially shutting down the sub-forum.
It’s surprising how people seem like they don’t know how to lose, which is a bummer since they also don’t know how to win.
The real tragedy though, is when everyone forgot how to have fun.
Or maybe they like some competitive rivalry and do not take what is said here personally or all that seriously. Perhaps it is just some folks like yourself that forgot how to have fun?
I’d like to believe that, but such a gross lack of sportsmanship and respect speaks to something else. You don’t end a basketball game in high school, then walk over to the other bench and yell “AHHAHAHAHHAA OWNED” after the game if you win. You don’t say “Lol you guys are bad, we just didn’t have our starters” back if you lost. You clap hands and say “good game”.
And like most online feedback tools, the number of people who take the time to post something positive is intensely outweighed by those who come searching for somewhere to vent in the heat of an emotional moment.
So no, I don’t believe you. And I’m having the time of my life in WvW. I’m the Necro in white who laughs as zergs swarm over him, then comes back to charge/divert again immediately.
Are you really suggesting that there is no poor behaviour in sports? Really poor analogy.
If you want to take the forums personally and be offended by their content, that is on you and you can make the choice not to come to the forums.
Nobody is having fun in here. They are behaving badly and should all be punished,
So far it looks like SOS was keeping TC in check at night while Mag just offers up easy ppt.
This weeks ppt game goes to TC
We held a meeting with our doors last night, they promised to do better.

Hmm so those red castle tag things next to players names in EBG, does that mean they are new to WvW? Because, they keep getting killed.
plz inform me kthx
It means they want you to emote at them a lot, like laughs, eat lots of candy to puke on them, etc.
Well after a blobby reset, I hope we can thin the zergs out and get some roamers on the map.
I look forward to the rest of the week.
But what if I am my own blob?
You wouldnt be in SIC
Chubu, was not expecting that reply. Am happy to go to combat with you at any time. Please feel free to add me to friends list, my name is Rexxxie, will be keen to skirmish with you guys. I actually enjoyed the fighting at north camb tcbl earlier, despite my antics in /emote. I was feeling grumpy that you wouldn’t fight more of us, but i understood you actions – survival and defeat were your tactics and I worked as well as I could to interrupt them.
I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield and if you happen to notice an asura thief, of [CERN], that downs you but does not kill you then it is myself. I prefer to let my wvw friends/enemies get on with the job at hand so when it is suitable I do not fully kill my enemies. I enjoy the fighting but I’m not interested, terribly, in lowering the morale of my enemies.
That is not to say your morale is easy to lower, rather, it is an acknowledgement of how easy zerker thief is and how much I feel acquainted with it.
Best wishes to all, and as always at this time of year, happy festive season to you and yours.
Rexxxie.
Did you put on a tweed jacket to write that little novella?
[BURN] you’re pretty good at the 10v1 but no so much when it’s against a few more.
Even with my horrible guardian skills, all you guys could do was run away.
NICE one….post this on Reddit…get upvotes…WIN!
oh wait..no one cares…but thanks for the vid, enjoy the game.
*confused as to why some waste their time with minor things like this.
Probably for the same reason why you wasted your time responding to it.
Did I say I don’t like wvw? and that map completion shouldnt be at all in wvw?
I complained about the roatation between the colours, that my server gunnar’s hold seems to always be either red or blue. So if map completion need wvw, they need a better colour rotation.
When I no longer have to do 400+ exceptionally stupid heart quests in PvE to get my legendary I will care about your colour issue.
[BOMB] you are terrible, the only thing you know how to do well is bunker in SMC behind cannons and mortars…
Thanks for wasting our time we were hoping to get some late night fights
CERN calling someone else terrible…. I am not even sure where to go with that.
I know there aren’t any roamers on FA, but didn’t a roaming guild transfer to TC a while back? Was that Oozo’s guild?
You’re probably thinking of Good Fights. Pretty sure AD is on EBay still.
Ah, I really should have remembered that. I blame it on GF never posting in matchup threads.
Most of the good GF stayed and joined AD, they are a shell of a guild now.
I believe they want these types of posts on the General Discussion forums, right?
I assume so.
Good fight, was all about who made the first mistake.
Nothing to do with freedom of speech or censorship. Anet is a private company, they don’t have to let you say anthing on their forums.
Having the ability to do something, and it being a good idea, are entirely two different things. While you are slurping back your purple kool-aid, some of us are concerned about the long term effect this will have on the game.
That was hilarious, fun and totally worth it – thanks for this Ark. I’ll chase you to hell and back from now on.
Like the zerglets needed more incentive.
This reminds me of when you are watching a football game and the ref’s keep calling pointless penalties and everyone on both teams is chanting ‘let them play’.
So why did the last thread get locked?
Infractions are because of rule breaking, not because of reports.
You are naive. While there is no question that moderators catch their own violations, the vast majority of their actions are an over-response to reports, no matter how vague and silly the report reason is.
Play with it some time. I did a bunch of tests, reporting the silliest things, almost all were removed.
Had you actually been an active user of the match-up forums you would however have been fully aware that it is not just “some competitive chat between opponents”.
It is flat-out abuse in almost every thread.
I don’t think anyone have any issues with some competitive chat. But when every week requires loads of removed posts and even locked threads in most cases, there is clearly an issue.
You act like ANET is blameless in this.
Had you actually been an active user of the forums in general you would have been fully aware that erroneous infractions are given out add hock on a daily basis in response to anyone that can think of a far fetched reason to hit the report tool.
The forums could get an an ignore/block user feature for the forums, like has been asked for many times and ANET never bothered to do. This way you could ignore people that push your buttons.
The in-game reporting tool could be added an option for exploits and hacking, reduce those kinds of threads on the forums. Took them no time to add it for LFG System Abuse, but not for WvW.
Instead of locking down in game chat they could have made it available for those of us that want it, once again removing many discussions off the forums. Obviously you need ways to opt-out for those not interested in that type of interaction, but that would take planning and effort.
So many things could be done, but instead we get the typical ANET least amount of effort for WvW response.
In order to come up with a solution you need to care enough to think about it. I do not feel ANET is even trying. We get EotM so the poor folks jamming themselves into T1 will have a place to play while they wait in que…. but guess what, que system will still be broken…
Yea nothing wrong with the last thread and I am not sure why moderators feel it is a big punishment to close a thread. Last I checked it is pretty easy to start a new one.
I think it is important to be for more than just the matchup threads. Moderation on these forums has always been pretty questionable, the latest move makes me think that if I switch to a new place for match-up forums I want to switch entirely and just stop bothering with these forums.
Low moderation, but have the tools for us to ignore/block a poster that bothers you would be my ideal.
I like that they complain that folks post about hacking/exploits and yet after 1.5 years they couldn’t add them as an option to the in-game reporting tool, because adding to a drop down is a huge amount of effort. They could of course find time to add LFG System Abuse to the list… go pve game.
For everyone thinking this is a bad idea, you know that there are rules on these forums right? And that rules are supposed to be enforced?
ANET watered down the importance of their own rules repeatedly. When you hand out infractions simply because someone used the report tool on a post, it means that 1) the report tool becomes more abused and more effort for the moderators, and 2) that those receiving infractions for outright silly things stop caring about the infractions, they become meaningless.
As for your other comment, that is laughable and not worth discussing.
For everyone thinking this is a good idea, you know that no one forced you to go to those threads right? If you did not like or enjoy them, simply do not go to them, it would be like ANET removed them without limiting the rest of us.
SE and One holding hands after getting wiped individually. I feel like I’m fighting FA or TC again it’s so adorable
Yea serious hand holding
I personally view the situation as ANET’s own fault and they are oblivious to it.
The over-zealous moderation made a mockery of the importance of an infraction. Is there any active poster that has not received an infraction that made you scratch your head?
The bigger issue is that players have figured out that all you need to do is report any borderline post and not only will the post be removed but the person be given an infraction. Players are using the reporting system as a tool that has nothing to do with reporting inappropriate posts.
They’re also closing down the matchup forums.

Another strong indication that WvW is more of an inconvenience than it is anything else to ANET.
