Ok we all know Anet has a long and storied history of doing some pretty creative and often hilarious stuff on this day, so what would you LOVE to see them do in WvW, if only for the one day?

Here’s my list:

• dolyaks strike back! Those gentle, passive dolyaks have frankly had it with all the slaughter. On April Fool’s Day, the minute a dolyak head butts you …. be it on the road, in a supply camp, or grazing peacefully in a field …. You are transformed into a dolyak yourself for 10 minutes.
• alternately … Instead of the dolyak transform … If you try to kill a dolyak, it summons every dolyak on the map to rush in, trample you in a big cloud of dust, and trots off after …. Leaving you face down in the dirt.
• trebs and catas deploy cookies, not boulders. This will make everyone work double time because instead of killing your enemy, you’re feeding them. One day of cookie trebs and catas means alternate strategy for attacking
• siegerazer instead of being super powered, wanders up to the gate drunk, and passes out.
• golems can /dance!

Ok that’s a start for me … Any other ideas?

Titling that video “BT and Friends…” when I only counted a few BT is kind of misleading. I saw AVTR, Drgn, TFAS, BT, SHOT, LUST, Shh…so, yeah. Seems more like an assorted bunch, rather than a BT core group with a few odd militia, as the title implies.

You know, just in case you were trying to say that you pulled a fast one on a guild that many people considered to be quite skilled.

This I think was the third attack on hills .. the first two all I saw were BT tags, but it was chaotic, so I may have miscounted. But yeah there appears to be a mix in this one …. would be nice to see all three attacks on fraps tho, because those fights were pretty fun.

That’s not true. In spite of what ANet has repeatedly stated, the only siege that reliably despawns after 30 minutes is trebs … everything else is indeterminate and often lasts until destroyed by the enemy.

That’s not true either. Siege reliably despawns after 30 minutes of not being used on the BL’s. On EB, it’s an entity unto itself for some reason, and siege can be left and stays there for days. On the BL’s, however, it’s like clockwork pretty much.

This is no more true then the statement you are replying to.

Sure it is. I’ve actually taken the time to do experiments on the BL vs EB for four hours a day, for a full week. I watched siege I ticked remain, while the one I didn’t despawn before my very eyes.

True the BL is still buggy as heck, with quaggans taking out siege with lightning strikes, even when they’re allied. But for the most part, any placed siege that’s not ticked within 30 minutes of use will go poof. Siege I’ve placed on EB sometimes lasts a full week.

Oh you guys know nothing… SoR hired TC and FA to never let Kain go up… It’s simple…

If you only knew what we on SOR are actually planning, you would find your post pretty kitten funny……. just like me.

Well, the scheme I see is:

• SoR hire TC and FA, in order to keep Kaineng on T2
• Since Kaineng is stuck at T2, SoR convince JQ to 2v1 BG.
• BG will keep getting stomped by combinated forced of “Quarry of Rall” (The name of the newly formed alliance), however will not drop since Kaineng can’t make enough rating to reach T1.
• The pressure will make SoS Bandwagon to leave and BG will implode, dropping back to T2 (Kaineng move up).
• SoR will convince JQ that Kaineng is a threat just as BG, and will ask to continue with “Quarry of Rall”
• At same time, SoR will convince Kaineng that together they can dethrone JQ.
• While JQ and Kaineng battle against each other, SoR backstab JQ and became the new #1.

It’s so obvious i don’t know how you guys didn’t saw it…

Only fly in that ointment is we like Kaineng. So step one is likely to hit a bit of a roadblock

Honestly from what I’m seeing in our tier matches, everyone is going after everyone else .. the way it should be. It’s part of what makes tier 2 so good.

Ummm, so we transferred to TC like last week? People can do that you know. We thought FA was going to be fun, but its like a big server of people who just run around and focus on killing people instead of the meta game. TC is fun and more organized, but it is really bad at fights.

FA seems to have 2 peek time zones nailed, but is lacking in the SEA time slot. DB is lacking in all time slots, except when NNK plays during the SEA time slot.

We are moving to FA (just a handful of us). Seems like a match made in heaven. Would be pointless for those T3 powerhouses to keep fighting when they could make some awesome strides in T2. The missing equation for both servers is for them to come together.

The initial cooldown on a mesmers downed skill 3 aint short. You’re lucky to get it off. And unless you’re a zerker mes, you’re not going to be dealing that sort of damage.
As with any class, to go full glass cannon you’re giving up something. That a mes is down on the ground and has the ability to still dish damage to get back up is an intended part of their build. Working as intended.

It’s comparable when you get very little opportunity to use it. Might as well not even have it as an option really because the moment you go down there’s like a full minute before you actually can use it …. And as I said above, most times you’re dead long before that option becomes available.

The enemy literally has to forget you’re dying there for you to proc it.

Not sure why it’s called smoke bomb in your hit log tho … I run a mesmer.

It’s actually kind of hard to trigger, when you go down it’s timed out unless the enemy “forgets” about you and you have a chance to heal, it’s hard to even use it. Most times you’re dead before you even get a chance to click it.

Nyari and I have tea and convo every morning. We are both in the same industry, so it’s fun to kvetch about it while we both slavishly upgrade and run supply. Nyari is synonymous with TC … The idea of the Queen of EB being anywhere else is just silly.

Eh give it time. FA has some strong guilds. I’m sure they’ll fight to their last dying breath.

Our daytime crew (euro time) has been so hardened that we tend to do a heck of a lot more with less. Even when we’re hit by the big Tier 1 servers visiting Tier 2, we manage to hold on defensively and are extremely resilient in maintaining our points tick. Plus the daytime crew (sea and euro time) are some of the best people I’ve ever known in game.

Our guys don’t need a commander on map to automatically do what’s necessary. We do have some great commanders at that time, but I’m just saying you’d be coming to join a very experienced and battle-hardened crew. Map chat is often hilarious, always pleasant, and everyone there helps everyone else out. Cry out for help and you’ll instantly have about 20 bodies coming to your aid, if not more.

Plus I give cookies to all newcomers.

As for PVE, our maps are packed at pretty much every hour of the day. TC is the destination server for guesting, mostly because all the Orr temples are constantly up and there’s always activity. I myself prefer to be on a server where this kind of thing is constant, and I don’t have to guest, so I get to know the faces and names of my community. The community itself is wonderful. It’s extremely stable and TC likely will never suffer the fate of other servers when it comes time to merge. TC is kind of like the NYC of the NA servers. You get people playing from all over the world, it really is a multi-cultural affair.

Just want to poke my nose in here and say that Static is a very dedicated TC WvW player. I see Static in WvW every day and I’m sure his/her insights into TC are as valid as any posting here, possibly more. I just wish you guys would realize you two are not going to convince the other of anything. It is what it is.

I was happy to see the fair weathers this week, simply because we have been trying to lure them in for a while now. Hopefully some positive foundations were laid this week and we will see more of them out after reset.

As for getting the fairweathers out when things are not so pretty. Here’s what I did all week, while we were winning, and seeing our maps filled to the brim with new bodies:

Every morning at 11 am EST, I would run a short 10-minute WvW clinic — just the basics, but I took the time to answer questions and outline some of the most simple concepts of WvW so that new folks coming in felt more comfy.

I would advertise these clinics about ten minutes before I started them in all the major cities and hubs, and when folks arrived, I’d be patient and actually run them to various spots on the map, so that it wasn’t just a verbal lecture, but a visual one, too.

Over the weekend, I got two people each day. During the week, in the time period that we need more bodies, I was lucky to get 10 or more each day. If we retain even 5% of those new folks into our Tier 2 match, when things are tougher, I will consider it a minor victory. If we don’t, then I got to spend some pleasant time with some nice people.

But the key is organizing, being pleasant, most of all patient, and understanding that the toughest part for a new player coming into a WvW map is that they pretty much feel helpless because they don’t know how things work.

Having a real, live body there to explain and answer is a way to establish not only a welcoming community, but a foundation of people doing WvW the proper way. Fewer mistakes that way, confidence is gained as results are seen, and siege is placed out of the way of enemy aoe, lol.

A more passive learning system for new folks is to have a daily map trivia during “down” times. Have the vets shout out in /map tips and tricks they learned in WvW. Remember to start with the very basics, like the difference between a tower and keep and supply camp on the map and how to distinguish the difference. You’ll laugh, but folks new to WvW won’t have a clue what the difference is and how it can impact WvW.

Just a suggestion for the Mags folks when they hit T4 and start getting their fairweather folks again. Take advantage of the numbers and take time to teach. It’s highly likely you guys are already doing this, but I’m just letting you know what seemed to work well for me this week.
