So, do you guys literally have people who sit back in the keeps, receiving scouting reports, watching the maps and timers in all 4 BLs, keep tabs on which guild groups are active in what BLs, and are in charge of allocating and directing your forces from on high?

Cuz…that’d be pretty freaking amazing. Maybe boring, since you don’t get to fight, but incredibly effective in terms of PPT. I know we tend to tunnel vision on the field.

We do, our TC scout system we have in place across all out BLs is pretty impressive. It’s made up of all sorts of guilds. I especially love the times when on Mumble all we hear is “Everyone, stop fighting in this ZvZ/Tower/Keep/etc and head to xBL to help defend/take this objective.” Everyone just stops what they’re doing and leave, probably leaving our enemies with a “wtf just happened?” face. But if we’re having a ton of fun, we’ll ignore it for selfish reasons, and later try to correct our error if it goes too downhill.

Plus we have you and Team Funk keeping us endlessly entertained in map chat

I was wondering how TC got an 8k lead. I was also wondering why Kain BL was left alone last night from TC but TC BL and FA BL was all red. Hmmm, coincidental? I’m not saying there was 2v1, I’m just calling out factual observation just looking at the maps last night.

Most likely. I’ll explain a few things (for context, I am a fort aspenwoody and I wvw with our server very frequently):

If Server 1 is focusing Server 2, it’s bad for Server 3 to focus Server 2. Why? because they’ll draw the ire of Server 1, and Server 2 is most likely smart enough to know that in order to get more points, you have to be on the delivering side of the 2 v 1.

Hence, whichever server is getting focused by another (Kain focuses FA, TC focuses FA) the server that isn’t focusing or getting focused…is likely to attack the server getting focused (i.e. other server focuses FA).

Here’s another fact:

FA is second place.
Kaineng is first place
TC is third place.

This was true in terms of points this round up until very very recently. Now, TC (formerly third) knows they cannot beat Kaineng. So what will they do? They’re pretty close in points to FA, so they’re going to play smartly for second place.

What about Kaineng? Well, they are already first, so they want to enlarge the gap between them and the second place server. Why would it make sense attacking the third place server, drawing their ire, and possibly getting double teamed and losing many points off their lead?

The point is, the second place server is very likely to get double teamed if the third place server is close in points to them.

and for those whining FA above, do not complain (I checked this morning and around 1PM EST Kaineng borderlands was half red, TC borderlands was half green, and FABL was almost completely blue. Wanna call double team again?). In case you are wondering, I am in Fort Aspenwood right now. I came here from Isle of Janthir and the last week where were in T3, FA did NOTHING but focus down Isle of Janthir because you wanted to play for second. Hence, you double teamed the second place team, because you wanted to play for second. Now that TC does this, you are crying like little babies.

It’s smart playing.

Anyways, for those who aren’t trolls/whiners/babies, I had a great time in FA BL this morning. It was fun defending both our northern towers from Kaineng. Props to you for nice fights, and for stopping our Bay Backcap against TC the first time around.

Not even an abuse really. All they have to do is either click on you and type /invite or /join .. an icon will pop up on your screen and it’s up to you to click the green check mark to invite them into group or not. (I believe, however, even if you don’t check the green check mark, and just leave the invite hanging, after a while your name appears, but again you can counter this by xing out quickly). Unless they are specifically using your account name you use here to post to send you a whisper, there is no other way of them knowing your character name to send you a whisper, and you have to allow it on your end by clicking that green check mark.

That said, I find being able to speak with the enemy incredibly useful. We’ve had a few incidents where hacking is involved and me typing /invite or /join lets me talk with someone on the other team right away to try to resolve it, instead of the usual that goes on in this forum of people coming here with accusations and creating drama.

I’d hate to see this feature taken away, simply for that reason alone. Solve the issue privately and in-game rather than fanning the flames here.

As well, most convos I’ve had with the enemy have been pleasant. I actually enjoy talking to folks from other servers. And others use the /invite function to do small skirmishes or duels.

The control, ultimately is yours when it comes to this. Just don’t accept the invite if you don’t want to talk to them, or accept it if you do.

We have been getting this lovely influx of players from EU servers this past week. Very happy to see all these new faces popping up in game and on our community forums. Seems like TC is becoming the destination server for those in EU who want to give NA a try.

Perhaps you should, too.

As for my 18 hour shift, we have countless others who are doing this as well. It’s really quite remarkable to see how many of us love to defend and fight for TC. The dedication is amazing. For myself, I blame my OCD in not being able to rest until “all the things” are fully upgraded. *twitch, twitch. lol.

First off let me get the pleasantries out of the way and say that I wish I could be on right now, as the fights this week have been a load of fun and fighting in a relatively balanced tier is amazing. That being said…

As a member of FA, I fully admit that our server is full of chest thumping, bag boasting, and just rude individuals in general. I have never doubted it, or denied it, but merely accepted it as the consequence of a competitive mmo. I myself have tried (although not always successfully) to rise above it and be better than that.

With that in mind I have to say… please don’t stoop to their level TC. Take a look at the last half a page and tell me that isn’t the same stuff you accuse FA of doing (and in some cases rightfully so). I said the same thing in the FA community forums last week, and I’ll repeat it here. You guys can lose like champs, garnering the admiration of BG and KN, but to those you defeat you reveal your darker side. It’s what initially put off so many FA’ers to begin with—all those weeks of being dominated by you guys.

I want the forums to be as civil a place as possible, which is impossible in most cases. But please take a page out of your own books and rise above the noise and show the sportsmanship you have when your chips are down.

I went back and read my posts to be sure I didn’t say anything untoward. Are you upset by the map updates and scores? If so, I apologize.

I agree, the forums should be a civil place. I tend to go out of my way to add some levity to the threads because often times we’re far too serious, and sometimes grumpy.

I have some cohorts on Kain who help me with the levity, would love to have some FA folks join in too. (And some are, was happy to see that!) It should be a place where we all kick back after beating each other up and exchange some jokes.

That said, every server has trolls. It’s unfortunate, but you can’t tell people how to post. You can make a million pleas and suggestions, but in the end, it’s their decision. For the most part, I’d like to think the bulk of TC behaves respectfully.

TC had a fantastic day today in tier two, maintaining a 300-400 ppt during the time period (10 am est onward) where a few extra bodies or a big guild could make the difference.

Imagine what could be accomplished with a SEA guild coming here? We have currently pushed into second place in tier 2, but the week is still young, and thats what makes tier 2 so exciting. Tier 2 is where the best fights are, without the toxic mess that is tier 1 (thinking of you BG guys, keep up the good fight!).

I think we all should be happy, personally. Tier one and tier two are reasonably balanced … well way more so than it used to be ….. there are good fights to be had pretty much any time of the day … and even with some uneven time periods, gains can be made for all sides. Sounds like an ideal spot to be really.

Of course, now that I’ve said this out loud, a server will implode and chaos will ensue …..
