No incentive to NOT roll with the zerg. Playing with the zerg will yield you more rewards and now world xp. You can move across the map quickly. You can take points incredibly fast.

I want to see more reason to defend a point. The longer a point stays in your control the more points you accumulate. Make upgrades cheaper or use a different currency. (Why not use badges or karma? All I do is WvW thus I do not make a ton of gold. I can’t spend it on upgrades.)

Is this for PvE?

As for your ps comment, even if true, only proves there are a lot of very crap players in PvP/WvW .

Maybe if you took the time to learn your enemy, what their professions and builds are capable of and incapable of… you would be able to do what myself and the 2 posters after me can do.

This isn’t a first person shooter. It’s not who can jump out and shoot the other one in the face first. It’s about learning to adapt and counter what your enemy brings to the table. I spec for 190% vigor, because I learned that dodge is a straight counter to everything, with the exception of stun… which is why I carry a stun breaker.

Also the dps on GS is actually pretty nasty now. I hit 3.5k crits with my maul, which is on a 4 3/4 second cooldown, and I am built and spec’d tanky…. not even glass.

Best way to refine your capabilities is to either roam solo, or to play spvp (even if all skills and statistics don’t behave in the same way as wvw)

P.S. Last time I took my ranger GS into a dungeon, my party remarked how they never knew how tanky the GS was (kept outliving a pretty decent guardian)… oh and I was underleveled with half my spec and bad gear (killed many people in wvw like that too) Now personally… I mostly just wvw but I did level most of my 80’s through dungeons, and have played every path extensively with the exception of arah path 4 and a few stories. Here is a tip: Make your own parties, and no one gets to cry about anything.

I’m built pretty tanky too and noticed a nice damage increase with maul as well.

Just because a server is high tier does not mean it houses the best players. Especially for skirmishes. On IoJ there are a lot of small scale battles. Therefore I fancy myself to be very good in 1vX battles. I think the changes to ranger so far have been great. Sure I cried a bit inside with empathetic bond, quickness, and our pet skills not recharging on pet swap. However all of those were fair changes. I adapted my build and continued on my way. I am a ranger for life. All you other wannabes can go play a different class.

Well I was talking about me on my ranger. I play a defensive bm ranger with longbow/greatsword. Give up on the profession if you want. I still love my ranger and I am always tweaking my build. I had to do it because of yesterdays patch (grabbed the trait where f2 skills recharge faster).

I just see so many QQ ranger threads and it is upsetting to me. We are a good profession. Played one since headstart. It took awhile to get really good, but it was worth it.

Skill comes into play more. I have beaten trap rangers 1v1 when I wanted to steal their capture point they were bunkered at. Maybe they weren’t that good with their build. Same thing goes for bm builds. There are rangers out there who are good with them

Rangers are definitely a viable PvP class. I spend most of my time in WvW and sPvP. I actually think those 3 changes op mentioned are great. The only thing I would add is if you are moving and use your pets f2, have the pet stop and fire off that skill. It is a pain when I am trying to use my fern hounds regen howl for it to keep canceling itself out because it is trying to move with me.

Also check out my WvW video I made a few weeks ago. It at least demonstrates my playstyle in WvW and proves we are a good class! It just takes time to master.

They are viable. I still play mine the same. It is going to be difficult to get used to pet skills not recharging on swap as well as quickness just feels so slow now. However, I think these were fair changes. Gotta adapt.

Ok thanks guys. I swear I only saw the soldier armor and did not see any other tabs when at the merchant. I’ll have to look closer. The badge price isn’t too bad either.

I am at work and can’t launch game right now. I checked when I was in an enemy borderland last night, but did not see any new armor stats (just new weapon stats). Did new armor stats get added in? If so where do you get them? As well as how much do they cost?

Also, warriors got hit pretty hard with the quickness change. 100 blades wont be AS deadly now.

Good changes. I have a thief as well. However you could b in stealth 90% of the time with cloak and dagger. This new change to stealth is a GOOD one. Especially for WvW.

Does siphoning scale with healing power?

I’d be incredibly upset if Cantha and even Elona did not make a return in GW2. I’d love a katana for my thief like I had in GW1!

I’m excited. Honestly what I am MOST looking forward to is some kind of reward/incentive for GUARDING structures. Right now it is a flip fest. Sure people can stay behind on the tower walls etc, but you don’t get xp, gold, or karma.

If they can look into a system like that, I will enjoy WvW even more than I do now.

I solo cap supply camps all the time. I will for sure take the guard stuff. If we are limited to what we can take, then yes, supply will come first.

Why do you use Healing Spring if you’re not going to stay in the spring? Troll Unguent is by far the best ranger heal, but, it takes time to get used to.

I used to use troll. It is a great heal I agree. However, the condition removal and the combo field is better for me. The greatsword swoop is about a 2k heal for me. And I can do that twice before field is over.

Excellent! I really haven’t strayed too far from my longbow. I love it too much. Point blank shot is too good. Greatsword is a relatively new addition for me though. I am never giving it up now.

Now I hope IoJ somehow finds its way back up the ranks. I’d like to get a chance to take a swing at that build :P

Thanks I appreciate that. I agree with you. I love my ranger and though pet control still can be clunky, we are an extremely powerful profession in a lot of situations.

To that engi and guard from [DUNK], your grenade build is RIDICULOUS. I have over 2k toughness and you still did well over 8k in one shot. Pretty nasty. Though I think that is getting fixed next patch :P

I like the changes. I think the thief change is GOOD. I am leveling my thief right now and I am perfectly ok with this upcoming stealth change.

I think they have been smart so far with profession changes. I trust them completely.

gear I use mostly clerics. With a little bit of knight’s thrown in. So high toughness/healing. no crit dmg. decent power.

Weaknesses are I lack burst dmg. Especially when QZ is on cooldown. Conditions can be a problem for me depending on situation.

Nah I prefer not adding ennemy on my friend list, it just remove the “open world” part of WvW PvP.

For the same reason I rarely ever duel people or participate in fight clubs. You lose the chaos effect of fighting in the open.

Also, becoming friend with the ennemy make me feel bad when I kill them! (If I kill them :P)

I’m not sure if it was a thief, maybe. If you saw 3 [STAR] and 1 [SOLO] female norm engineer, it was us. :P

I had to post about roaming to find some exiting fights!

Yesterday was a night full of action, and grats to IoJ for bringing the action.

I fought a guild named [STIR] (or styr?) late yesterday and we had some nice nice fights. Early on we got stomped during groups fight, and we had to change to our main build to fight.

Then we had crazy back and forth fights, with the kitten camp npc pulling it. Loved it, hope to see you guys again.

Also fought a guildless GC iBerserk Mesmer from DarkHaven in AR BL. He made me change to my main build because he was really hiting hard. We did like 6-7 duel, was fun!

[Prot] I didn’t find you yesterday? Were you in our BL? I roamed in ARBL for a time, but it got empty and I had to switch to DH. I saw one upleveled Prot, nothing else!

Was it a female thief? If so that was me! On my lvl 2 thief haha. Just add me in game. When we are both online we can find somewhere to fight.

I don’t like camping spawn, and I would have nothing to cap while waiting. Also I like to hunt zerg, and I die a lot doing it. If I’m too far from my spawn it gets boring.

All I do is roam in borderlands. I don’t think I have seen the tag SOLO yet though. Maybe one day

I use a high healing/toughness build with 25 in beastmastery and I fair well outnumbered in WvW and sPvP. The downside is I don’t kill things too quickly. Unless they are super squishy and I can combo knockdowns and dazes.

Even a way to track a guilds achievements in WvWvW would be cool, and something WvWvW wise for guilds to work towards.

Leaderboards are rumored I THINK for WvW. I might be thinking just of sPvP though. But yes, that would be very cool. Not sure how you would track guilds though. I can see individuals being tracked based on certain criteria. Like # of supply camps capped etc.
