Guild Wars 2

The game is named from the lore revolving around THE guild wars. I didn’t do a lot of GvG in GW1, but it is definitely a system I would love to see brought to GW2. I’m sure it is on the list of stuff they want to do. They said they want to work on existing systems first though before adding new ones.

I run a duo of 2 identical mesmers with my wife and kitten if i dont get laughed or taunted in some way everytime we lose to AR by vast numbers. I’m not sure what the deal is with some of you guys but alot of you guys are just rude. So if I use regeneration and then go into death shroud, does that regeneration heal my hp and not life force? Same goes for any other boons/conditions.

OMG! Just played the path 2 of AC. LOVED it. It took FOREVER. When we got to the end we had no idea what to do. We figured it out though slowly. It was very frustrating, but VERY rewarding when we finally beat it.

Love the mechanics. Requires lots of teamwork. Keep doing this kind of thing with the dungeons. Dpsing the boss till it is dead is just boring and stale. I like this new style much better!

I haven’t used any of the traps in my current build yet so far. However the new fire aura seems pretty cool. Might try and find room for flame trap on my bar now…Anyone else feeling the same?

transferring conditions to your pet is not dooming your pet to death as it is the same to you. 3 conditions is still very good.

Imagine combining all conditions wiped off you every 10 seconds, get that food buff/melandru runes to make conditions shorter duration, signet of renewal, healing spring. Conditions would be no issue at all. Since this is a 30 pt trait in toughness, it will likely mean you have high armor too. Too powerful.

Regarding the trait, in all honesty, pulling all conditions off you every 10 seconds seemed a bit…much. I think it is a fair change.

Go to WvW. Your server can use your help and you will get your dodge daily quick. You shouldn’t have to seek out your dodge daily. It should happen just by playing. Nonetheless, WvW is my suggestion for you.

I don’t think this means what you think. It is more of an exploit fix. People can’t interact with the portal if the portal is halfway between a wall.

You can still have one portal in a keep and the other outside. Just not clipping through the wall etc

population rate = DR < IOJ < SB or IOJ = SB
skill = DR > IOJ = SB
SB and IOJ just has a lot of ppl than DR, that’s it.

An IoJ thief and one of yours went head to head for literally 15 minutes in a draw. I am generally in small skirmishes when I WvW. So far DR has put up the hardest fights for ME.

I think all three servers have groups of really skilled players though.

What happened to the friendly thread I enjoyed reading the past couple weeks?

Using the offensive build, think it would be beneficial to take 5 points from radiance and put them in honor? for the vigor?

I play World v World all the time. Ranger is my go to profession for it. Pretty nice access to quickness which is amazing for offense/support. Can’t tell you how many times an ally goes down and i run to them, swap to wolf, use its aoe fear, and quickness revive my ally.

Ranger is a hard class to play since managing your pet is important. Give it a chance.

I was in IoJ borderlands for a bit last night on my low level guardian then switched to ranger at the end. I don’t know who it was, but I had a bunch of people chasing me (and killing me a couple times) at the bottom of the map.

So if you saw a ranger running for their life, that was me. Was fun times though :P

As a ranger I take offense to all this negative ranger talk! We have bugs, but we are far from useless. Good rangers are few and far between, but we can deliver a beating and survive the day when we are good

I use longbow/greatsword in mostly cleric gear and I do just fine with it. So only viable option is not accurate I would say. I can’t speak for paid tournaments though. As I don’t do much of those.

Well you have the chill on the axe on a pretty short cooldown. I think you will be fine. Try it out for yourself!

You do have to manage your pet, but like you said it depends how heavily you want to rely on them. I have 15 sec pet swapping and use two wolves. So I swap a lot and my pets are important to my build.

You would need to make up for lack of toughness with good pet cc and dodging, but I don’t think the combo is ridiculous.

If there was an easy way to swap out traits/gear I would try a build like this too.

I’m still a relatively shy person. My first REAL girlfriend wasn’t until I was 22 years old. I had never kissed a girl before then or anything. My advice to you is be confident in yourself. If you are confident, other people will see that.

Well not really. What do you want to do with your ranger? Role wise. Longbow/greatsword is my fav combo actually. I use it right now. Also do you want this build for PvE, dungeons, WvW, or sPvP?

Granted I haven’t really investigated using other gear, but I use cleric armor with a mix of cleric/knights trinkets and I do fine in WvW. I can 1v1 and 2v1 pretty easily.

Mesmers can be tough and the p/d thief that cloaks every other second are very tough. I use two wolves and greatsword/longbow. Pet swapping is key for me.

This is an interesting build. All the builds I have been trying to come up with focused around boon duration and at least some healing power. This build has none. What are the weaknesses for this build? What are the hardest enemies you come across?

I generally play WvW solo or with 2-5 other people. I usually fight against 1-8 people. I never fight in zergs. I wonder if this is the kind of build I want.

I have been theory crafting a build for weeks now. I was originally going to go for an AH hammer build, but I am usually running solo in WvW. Or with a few other people. I don’t know how to gear myself or if my traits are as good as they can be. I don’t want to spread myself too thin and be ok at everything, but not great at nothing.

I don’t fight in zergs. I am usually in small skirmishes of anywhere from 1-8 enemies with 1-5 allies. I want to use hammer for sure. As of now my other set is mace/focus. I like the blocks with focus. I’d rather be more self reliant, but still offer SOME support to allies. This I see coming from boons and cc.

Now I need help with gear. I’d like to have high damage mitigation and decent power. My playstyle goal is to outlast the enemy. I like the idea of high boon duration. So if possible I’d like to keep that with the runes.

Question: Would signet of judgement’s passive -10% dmg mitigation not be worth it with high protection uptime and high toughness? I’d like to slot that in there if it is worth the spot.

Thanks for the reply! I think I will drop condition damage. My reasoning behind it was for all the burns I would do with all my blocks. I get 4 blocks with mace/focus and who knows how many when using shelter. So I would stack might/heals from AH as well as stack burning on foes.

I really do not want to give up hammer. I love the cc on it.

I kinda am stuck with not giving up judges either. I use it to swoop in to stop stomps or to catch people. (channel #4 on hammer then teleport or channel #5 and teleport).

I really never am in big battles. I avoid zergs. I usually am in skirmishes with anywhere from 2-10 enemies.

I’ll drop condition damage, and not worry about crit damage. Ill look into boasting my power a bit too.

Is 200 healing power enough? I havent had time to test these in the mists, but what would be a good halfway number for healing power? That’s why in my build I linked I had around 500. Is it worth it to go from 200-500 or 600?

Ive been following the AH hammer build in the sticky as far as where to put my stats. That’s also where i read that low hp is fine.

I have a lvl 30 guardian and am doing some gear planning for when I hit 80 for WvW. I want to be a frontline guardian protecting my allies with boons and cc. The idea is to use hammer for damage and cc. Switch to mace/focus when i need the blocks or healing. When reviewing the build (especially stats) let me know if i can add/subtract anything.

I am making a human male warrior soley because I like how he says ‘shake it off’ when using that shout. It sounds epic.

I solo camps on my ranger so I feel the opposite of useless.

I don’t even remember what BL I was in (DR I think). Whoever that greatsword/axe and warhorn EB ranger was, epic fight. We duked it out in the lake then moved to the land and it was a stalemate for like 10 minutes before I gave up and did a /bow.

Were you running cleric stats too? Haha. We kept outhealing the damage to each other.

I may be biased because I play sPvP and WvW a lot. Therefore, my content is always there and rewarding since I am always battling new players etc. Besides FOTM, I can see PvE goals and motivation lacking. Would a GW1 challenge mission be a good thing to add? Something that has a leaderboard and is all about who can have the best time/score?

I have been reading some interesting threads on here relating to end game etc. I think we as mmo gamers EXPECT to be rewarded in some way for doing all these activities in game. Otherwise, what is the point of doing them? It is ironic how being too heavily rewarded for something you already enjoy doing can actually cause you to be less motivated and less rewarded.

I think we have been trained to expect this beast called ‘end game’ to be about tackling harder challenges, scoring more points, reaching higher levels, etc. That carrot on the stick scenario. With that we run the risk of being too focused on the gratification of positive feedback, and we lose the ability to enjoy an activity for its own sake.

What do you all think?

Lots of depth to this game. Especially the combat system. I really like the mix of the action style combat with the tab targeting system. I like mmo’s where i can have fun right away and not have to wait for x level and do all this grind. I don’t have time for grind.

What kind of weapon? If it is melee you of course need to be facing and close to the target for your #1 skill to hit.

No. I like Guild Wars because the focus is not placed on leveling, but on playing the game. Adding new content and zones? Yea! No need to add levels alongside that.

It is for sure louder. The thing I like best about it is how powerful and ‘beefy’ it sounds now. The old sound lacked that.

Did you all notice the new sound when the ram is banging on a door?! It is a HUGE difference. It sounds epic now!

I hope it is a UI bug! While I can see this fix being justified, having it ninja’d in there is really crazy to me. I currently rely very heavily on pet swap and their abilities.

If it is not a UI bug, like I said I can see the reasoning. We have two pet traits, one that reduces F2 cooldowns and the other reduces pet skill cooldowns by 10%. Those really have no use besides people who do not want to swap pets if using that BM trait that stacks upon kills.
