Life force could go full out of combat. If you start low life force you don’t have any kind of chance. Of course some power builds get life force ok, but i don’t play those because too boring.

That’s because epi is so powerful against the unorganised. But I don’t see why they should nerf it just because people are too lazy or casual to organise themselves to counter it.

Highest potential DPS skill in the game that is unblockable, on a 13.5s timer and an AoE. The skill is ridiculous in the current condi heavy meta. I ran around last night firing CB/Epi with the occasional Plague and it is easily the most powerful combo I have run in a long time.

Sure you did. If you would try to use epidemic you would fail nine times of ten.

Here’s a fair Nerf for Epidemic:
-Reduce range to 800, effect radius to 300
-Increase cast time
-Cap number of condis to 5, and transferred duration to 10 seconds.
-Cannot target siege, pets, or minions.
-Cannot transfer fear or taunt.

tldr = Remove Epidemic.

Did I mention it’s still unblockable?

A fair nerf is reducing the radius to 360 (the size of Meteor Shower) and reducing the range to 900. Not taking away everything that makes it a threat.

So you wanna just ruin it in small scale? Epi 5 target skill and big fight there is always 5 target in that radius.

U cant do nothing against that. Almost no visual effect and 13s CD. Old necrobomb had 32s/40s CD and visual effect…. Epidemic was insane.

And about resistance… is strong? YES, but can be corrupted or have a counterplay, but epidemic on the previous state had no counterplay.

I dont know jet if this change is the one that the skill needs to be balanced, but at the first moment looks fine to me, at least gives you a counter play wich is fair.

There was good counter play. Wait that necro start to cast epidemic and cleanse conditions.

People crying at this? I watched a few of there’s so called high end gvg matches and all it was, was 2 guilds bunker up like hell, load condis on enemy rev, the epi bomb someone…how pathetic is that lol.

Probably wasn’t high end matches if tactic like that works. Probably those guilds who lose in EotM against pugs.

So landing epidemic is now pure luck because boon spam is totally out of control in wvw. At least make epidemic insta cast. How to kitten i can know if enemy get resistance after is start to cast epidemic? It was already hard to land epidemic before because enemy usually lost all condis after you started cast epidemic (of course i play EotM where players actually know how to remove conditions ). Devs probably didn’t even think about this because they don’t play their own game.

This post doesn’t make any sense. “Dire and trailblazer are really terrible stats for WvW. These stats are only good in PvE not in WvW and there is a reason those stats are banned PvP. So how to fix it? First fix the bug that it can transfer only 25 stacks (if enemy can stack high stacks in normal combat you deserve get epi bomb because you get outplayed) and make change that epi could only transfer 10 stacks from sieges and keep lords.

In my opinion that’s a bad idea: people usually go to EB to get some big fights, because map is created in such a way, that sooner or later big fights happen. And we like big fights. Without any cliffs to fall off. That’s why nobody wants to go to the desert borderland, because it is too much similar to EoTM, too big and too vertical. I don’t think many people enjoy that kind of WvW …

I enjoy cliffs.

+10 cd
only 5 stacks max (mby + remaining time -50% or something)
shorter range (cast and effect range!) + 1 sec cast time

there u have it a not op skill and not a dead skill WOW

Wvw players, kinda weird.
They don’t want increased rewards to try and make the mode attractive to pve players.
They don’t want achievement hunters from tournaments in wvw.
They don’t want players coming in for dailies and potentially trying out wvw during that time.
They don’t want players using the crafting tables who potentially could rally to a defense.
They don’t want the guildless pugs following their zergs.
They don’t want pugs following them around unless they are on teamspeak, until they need more numbers to counter a blob.

But they would like to destroy eotm game mode to force all those type of players into wvw and borderland maps.

EotM was created as a waiting room for people in queue to real WvW. Population is down in WvW and the waiting room is not needed anymore. It actually drains WvW population, and makes WvW worse off.

So it is time to get rid of it.

With that said, the map(with some tweaks here and there) isn’t terrible, and it would be a waste of resources to not use it. So re-purpose it as a third BL map, meaning we get four unique maps in every match-up to play on.

Probably bad idea get rid of best and most popular game mode.

Epidemic needs to be reworked, plain and simple.

Bandaids aren’t going to balance this issue.

The skill can be balanced and still be a powerful tool for condi-spikes and carrying out numbered fights.

1st .. the “25” condition cap is broken and not working as intended, we’ve tested this, and the .gif I’ve attached in the OP is proof of this as well. This could easily follow the same condition table as Corrupt Boon https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Corrupt_Boon … and what I mean by this is – it will apply a multiplier from this table as you see it I.E. 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x what’s currently on the table, per Epidemic cast on target, if those conditions exist.

2nd .. the cooldown is way to short, cleanses to counter an EPI spike don’t share nearly the same cooldown I.E. Virtue Of Resolve (when traited, can clear up to 5-conditions on Guard, and 3-conditions on allies); this has a 30-second cooldown whereas Epidemic has a 15-20 second cooldown reduction depending if you trait for it or not. 3rd .. there’s no clear indication that the Necromancer is channeling such an aggressive skill. A poster in this thread mentioned implementing a floater signaling Epidemic is being cast.

4th .. it’s unblockable, IMHO if you want this to remain unblockable make the core skill blockable, then make it unblockable if it’s traited for; so it doesn’t get abused by power necro specs as well.

Edit: For illuminati reasons, you should know that I mentioned my guild utilizes this skill and coordinates EPI-Spikes on targets. Even against organized groups we’re matched up against, we’re still insta-gibbing 2-3 players minimum on top of the original target. We still intend to use Epidemic after the rework, but the skill as it currently stands is overpowered because of the way it exponentially scales.

I think that you should just stay in PvE.

I am seriously astonished that a dev replied to that. This community is full of nothing but complainers that spam salt threads until they get what they want.

As I’d said in another Epidemic related post, anyone who is having trouble with this skill is either a frontliner without properly co-ordinated group cleanses and/or they’re not using their cleanses properly, or just terrible players not taking the proper measures to deal with it all together.

I’m not special, I’ve been hit by big Epidemic bombs as well. But as far as I can recall, it has only been twice that I’ve insta-downed. I am rarely if ever in a squad, almost never on teamspeak, play vanilla roaming builds on all my characters and I often push to the frontline with builds not designed for it, but I don’t die and don’t get Epi nuked. How is it that I’m not having the same problem so many others apparently have? With as much time as I have invested in WvW, I find it incredibly difficult to believe people aren’t over exaggerating. As far as I’m concerned, this is just one of those things people hate and want gone even though it’s not as much of an issue as they claim it to be.

Yes it’s devastating if it’s coming from a co-ordinated group and yes it can insta-down you if you’re not careful. It’s a powerful skill but the amount of times it kills me/forces me to retreat and recover while zerging is a whole lot less than the times I lose 50 – 80% of my health in one hit from a CoR even on builds with 3k+ armor. And that’s not a complaint about CoR, just a statement that it causes me a lot more problems than Epi’s do.

As I’d said in other Epidemic complaint related threads – I believe it would be fair to adjust this skill but the way people kitten and whine about it and the way ANet always folds to that kind of behavior, I just know it’s going to be gutted and the bunker meta will return in full force.

I very rarely say this but if you’re getting Epi-nuked constantly and you’re not a commander… Get. kittening. Smarter.

This game caters to the casual player, I get that. ANET needs to have some sort of skill that players can use to one-shot other players to feel relevant enough to keep them interested in playing because they feel they’re contributing.

There are plenty of these skills in the game.

Epidemic is not one of those. This skill should have a few things considered — Cool-down rework, MAX application of condition stacks applied (I.E. 3,5,10 stacks max per cast), and rework to (-)condition duration from skills such as Purging Flames, food, or runes (as already outlined by the DEV response). This skill should be a skill that requires a higher skill level cap.

Epi has frigging sec cast time. This game have so much aoe condi removal that landing good epidemic is pure luck and mainly only works because enemy have l2p issues.

I don’t really see problem. You could interrupt epidemic, you could use brains and not stand close potential epi targets, you can ress downed player, you could use resistance like normal players. If i would start to whine every skill that have downed me that fast half of game dmg skills would get nerf.

I think that condi burst have something to do about traps and enemy being afk or stupid. I got condi burst yesterday, but it was like 4 vs 1 fight and all enemies played some lame stealth trap build. Necro is kind of bad removing conditions if you can’t see enemy or there isn’t any mobs in range.

I met a necro that my condition theif build could not dent.

The ones with Minions using Necromantic corruption with Rise have lots of cleanses and do not need to see the target for all those cleanses. It hard for a condition user to get rid of all those minions AND deal with the necro whereas a power user can easily kill them if needed.

I have played necro 3k hours and i don’t know what necromantic corruption, rise or minions mean.

Skill, gear, and tactics, win against numbers in ESO. You have been warned not to try this game. But if you do just get ready for that one to 4 month Champion Point system grind, get ready for the month of gear grinding, get ready for that looking a guides time to optimize your skills and builds, just to begin to compete with some of the more dedicated PvPers of ESO. ZOS is making the game more and more of, your carefree skill-less numbers will not save you type of game.

But gear does give you an advantage in GW2, a big one in some cases, and GW2 is pretty much the least skillful mmo around.

Isn’t it like a 10-15% boost or something in stats if you run full ascended crap? I still run exotics, I just don’t care enough to win anymore lol

Yes nerf skill even more. Maybe players were just better before because it wasn’t problem in launch when it got unlimited range and you didn’t need line of sight.

It wasn’t a problem at launch because people were abusing boonshare, no conditions can cut through the unlimited spam of resistance.

Valid point, but need to remember that resistance was added in game june 23, 2015.
