Too many passed posts to respond to all of them. The Anet Dev was in the wrong, players were in the wrong for speaking to anyone that way.

Players want GVG added (really deathmatch), this is not the way to get what you want. Players want a 15v15 or 20v20 deathmatch, can’t blame them sounds fun. I think I’d rather have 10v10 or maybe 15v15, any more than that and it seems bloated.

Absolutely. There is no reason to resort to name calling like the players did in that video. Some posters want an apology from the dev directly. All I am saying is that those players were also in the wrong with how they acted. I am happy the video is out there so others can see what happened and how badly both sides behaved.

There are a good deal in this thread that believe the players were in the right to act that way. I am simply saying that is not the case.

Nope. I am not in a large guild so to me it doesn’t matter. I enjoy wvw, the siege, the defense etc. It needs work and improvement for sure, but I still enjoy it most of the time.

I think you should watch the video again and look at the players immediate responses. That is not how you respond to people. Players wonder why others are viewing the community as Toxic. This is the reason.

Perhaps I am bad at picking fights. Seems like I start off, 1 v 1 or 2 v 1 and 2 of 3 more arrive before I can kill them. Mostly in the Ruins, maybe it’s the area, maybe my wvw matchup.

Has nothing to do with “well I guess that is Anet for you”. There is no MMO company, or much any company that would let the employee on here to apologize after the incident. And even if they did it would be coached, and the responses from players would be the same.

I also don’t see any from the players involved in this? Their behavior in some cases was even worse than the employee’s. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

I’ll keep at it. Perhaps the skillcap is too high for me. I’m an average player.

2 of you no longer play GW2 but you still frequent the forums? Must be nothing else to play I suppose. Also why does the apology even matter to you? I certainly wouldn’t care or even continue to goto forums of a game I don’t even play. -shrugs- seems odd to me.

I wouldn’t know GVG was happening when I stumbled across it. I don’t follow it, and I don’t participate in it. If I seen it happening it’s very likely I’d try to get some tags in to get credit for kills.

This works both ways. I could kill some of them, I am sure they could run me down and kill me.

I am not able to kill them fast enough before large amounts of support arrive and I am run down.

Perhaps I am not using the runes properly. Maybe they just have tons of removal, Not entirely sure.

I use Nemisis’s WVW condition build. Perhaps there is a difference in that build verse yours that prefers Mad king runes.

Hello Engineer Community:

In the past I’ve come here looking for help with smashing results.

I play a condition / perplexity Engineer.

Tonight was probably the worst I’ve felt in a long time or possibly ever in GW2 / WVW.
I’ve never felt so terrible, useless, and demoralized.

Started out with the ruins in my BL. Trying to keep / recapture them. One of the opposing sides had a major buff, and we had a minor buff. I wasn’t able to get many favorable situations, and even when I did I felt outplayed or outclassed.

I decided to switch to taking camps back. Similar results ensued.

I don’t think my build is the issue. I am using same build as Yishi is using. Clearly I am not nearly as skilled a player.

So Is it the skill cap on Engineer? My play needs improvement, that isn’t news to me. But is the skill cap very high on Engineer?

Is it simply the bloodlust stacks? I didn’t think this the case necessarily but it is a possibility.

Is it something else? I simply don’t know. All I know is I feel very defeated right now. Perhaps Engineer isn’t the class for me. I’ve put considerable work into the character and do not relish the thought of giving up.

I see. When you said Alpha I assumed you meant the alpha of the game and not on going testing. Again though my statement doesn’t change much. You are taking a post (new or old) that most of the public can not see.

A Dev (unnamed — I do not expect a name, I am sure it would be blacked out anyways if there was one) who may or may not even work for Anet anymore made a statement that says “We don’t care about WVW” , you’ve connected that to this incident and have let it sway your personal opinion on the matter. What is worse is that you’ve made your mind up that the entire company feels this way and that they are instilling this within their employees.

Sadly there is no way for most of us to know if there is any truth to the above statements about WVW. It is clear that a good portion of the posters here on the WVW forums feel that not enough resources are being given to WVW. That is indeed sad.

I am sure there are things happening behind the scenes. They aren’t going to share that with us.

I have to keep asking though. Why does this person losing their job make you (not you but people in the community) feel better about the situation? Does it really bring you satisfaction? Does it instill in you that it will never happen again?

It happened. It shouldn’t have happened. A blanket apology was forged. Not sure what else player are expecting out of this. It make me smile a little when I see someone respond with “I am uninstalling because of this, and I wasn’t even effected personally.”

The damage has been done. Not sure what else players expect at this point. It doesn’t make it ok.

So you are linking a conversation from ALPHA to now. And because of that have blanketed the company with a label. Even though in numerous interviews they’ve said otherwise.

Would love to see this alpha post where an arena net dev told everyone they don’t care about wvw.

As for the example, those work both ways. While you are right, those people would eventually get fired, it rarely happens on their first offense if ever in some situations.

Yes absolutely. However, you’d never tell the company or boss. It is possible in this situation that is exactly what happened. He allowed his/her personal opinions to leak through onto the customer.

By this you assume the whole company thinks this way. I do not. I am not trying to convince you on the matter. But I think it’s unfair to label the entire company in such a way. You also seem very unsatisfied with the apology and want him/her to lose their job. I am sorry you feel that is the only solution that would make you happy in this situation.

You are clearly making a connection to two instances. If I were you I might make that connection as well. There aren’t many of us privy to that conversation in alpha though.

I have a feeling this is how they react to a lot of things, inside and outside of the game. Not limited to GVG alone.

This notion is silly. Of course not, he/she has formed an opinion. A personal opinion.

You are making assumptions. While I will agree that opinions are influenced by a persons surroundings, it is possible for people in general to form unpopular opinions despite the popular opinion surrounding them. You assume the majority of A net employee’s all hate GVG. Somehow doubt that to be the truth.

Really? Care to give an example? There are rude customer server people all the time who don’t get fired. Most of the time nothing happens to them. Would him/her losing their job make you happy? Doesn’t make me happy to hear someone lost their job. That doesn’t make their actions ok. Not by a long shot. I just disagree with your reasoning and your thirst for blood.

There is an apology, it just isn’t from the offender. Do you think whoever it was, that they would let them get on the forums? Would you if you ran the company? I sure wouldn’t.

So you are saying you would be satisfied if the offender got on here and wrote an apology? (which by the way, wouldn’t even be written by them, or at least not coached as to how to approach it.)

There is no simple solution right now. It is not as simple as make an empty map and let them go at it. Anet has in that past and I am sure in the future put their own spin and polish on features.

They didn’t just want LFG, the wanted their LFG, They want their story, dungeons, raiding, etc etc.

They want to add GVG but it will have additional features, this takes time and resources. Resources they clearly don’t have right now. You want them just to release something, anything to do with GVG, this is not how they operate.

If a simple apology is not enough, then what is “enough”. What would satiate you? One person lacks professionalism that the entire company does? How does that even make sense?

I am sure just like the player base itself some employees would love GVG and some probably care less about it, or don’t want it at all. Especially in WVW. The problem here of course was that he is an employee and was in the wrong about his approach.

oddly enough there are a lot of them around too. Thought it might be a more limited market. On the other hand every time I look at someone with a GS and don’t see the gem sparkling I think to myself “weak not even enternity” :P

I like the effects of eternity. the crafting and effort involved is what I am still questioning.

or even what we are debating. Abyss looks really black to me. Mightnight fire is close but there is a redish tint in some cases.

This is very wrong. I am not anti GVG per se. Do what you like in the game in my moto. I don’t understand the strong hate for not having it. I also understand those guild play a lot.

25 kills or so and still nothing to show for it much. Certainly no skins or boxes. Haven’t given up but my interest has dwindled a little. Shame my necro could really use those skins.
