Commander to [SLVR], Housepet to [GH]
(edited by KStudios.2850)
Sadly aftering clearing your hills we did not find the commander that took our bay, so we breached every single thing you own and we still cant find him, Where the hell is he, WHERE IS HE
Still in the bay waiting to port us in on Thursday.
Asked for nothing more than a loaf of bread, water, and an empty gallon jug for bodily waste… He’s THAT hardcore. XD

I would like to thank all the people in this thread that are keeping the humor going whether they are winning, losing, don’t care, or not even in this tier. To me the best one was the parking golems post although the screenshot of the dead moa was a close second. To all the “why so serious?” people in here…have some fun! I know I will (even if our BL get’s totally flipped).
BTW…I’m an official member of the BP night crew and when our BL is not in jeopardy you’ll find me running around solo or with 1-2 other guild members. I’m also probably the worst Mesmer ever in history but I love a good fight. I don’t really like setup duels so you’ll have to just find me. Cheers!
I’m tryin’! DX
Even I’m finding it hard to keep up the lightheartness in this mess…. ME! The part of this that utterly boggles me is the fact that at the time, nobody was even all that mad. Delayed reaction much? Slow boil?
P.s. The parking golems post is far funnier if you read it in a British proper English accent.
(edited by KStudios.2850)
To the Moa photoshop of the “totally legit master of disguise”. I nearly snarfed my coffee. This thread needs more humor and less kitten
I know right? Bout near died choking on Lucky Charms. XD
I actually paid the guy about half the bounty I placed on myself, just for the laugh and creativity.
Which btw, is still active. I still have not seen a pic here. I never gave a time limit. If it takes one of you all week, it takes one of you all week. It officially ends at reset, or until a pic surfaces and it’s paid up.
(edited by KStudios.2850)
I like to call my superior numbers Harvey.
Okay, that was funny…
Also, to the EBay folks who are mad we’re in the lead: Get over it. The last time we faced you we ended up a hood ornament, and you made sure to let us know at every opportunity just how unworthy you thought we were. We’ve lost people since then. We expected to be pasted this week because IoJ’s free fall pushed us up. You remember that scene in LotR when the people were preparing for the Battle of Helms Deep? That was us all day before reset on Friday. We hoped only to be able to hold up our heads and say we did our best. Well, now you are enjoying the results of our best.
Y’all launched a Golem rush in the middle of the night, turned half our map green, and have the nerve to whine about us PvDooring? We’re a “garbage” server for retaliating? Oh, it’s on.
I think you should look to your own for the reasons why you are doing so badly. Where are your self-described “superior numbers and tactics” now? You are obviously not the server you once were. Enjoy T5, because I don’t think you will be seeing T4 again any time soon. It is my fondest wish to ROFLstomp you and shove you down into T6 because, frankly, Anvil Rock was the better fight.
So, shall we place some sort of actual door knockers on our towers to make it easier for you while we slumber? Seems a dreadful waste of a ram since you’re just going to walk in as you please anyhow.
By all means, guys. Go ahead. Before I was all for setting you guys up for success where we failed. Now I just hope you don’t do this kind of thing to Yaks, they’re nice folk. They’ll smear you if you do though. They didn’t have to with us, it was pretty obvious we were still outclassed. And funny thing is, before you pulled last nights stunt, you WERE barely staying afloat. Your chances as of right now with that lot: 0

I hear a couple of you Borliss folks are wanting the 25 silver for killing me. Specifically said, pic or it didn’t happen. It has happened a few times today. I see no pic here yet though. =P
Pft! No one even bothered to make a picture to back up their claim? It’s totally easy! Behold my entirely real and totally not falsified footage of killing you, deserving your reward!
Lmao! Nice.
Better not let me go to waste. Dem thighs… O,..,o
Seriously though, if that guy that was hanging out near my corpse on Redlake’s front lawn didn’t get a shot… He was standing there for ages.

Once even by a Devona’s solo roamer on your very Borderlands while trying to ninja your Briar, BP.
(edited by KStudios.2850)
There is a lesson to be learned here I think. That lesson is to not launch a Golem Rush at 2 AM :P
Eh, not to necessarily sound accusatory, but I highly doubt this would be different had we done nothing lol. Backing the notion of proceeding to own someone’s entire map solely on the basis that they sacked just one of your bases is in my mind overcompensation on the level of using napalm to shave one’s head because you don’t like your hair. =P
I can always be mistaken, however… Wouldn’t be the first time. Nor the last, undoubtedly.
Not talking about you specifically, just the fact that your server took our bay which got us a bit angry and made us unleash this.
Careful. Don’t stoop to Kain or CD’s level in the PvDoor catagory lol. I don’t mind so much though, so long as it is known that possible retaliation is all fair and good. It’s not in us within this server to hurt feelings (minus maybe our beloved Archer XD ). We come to play, and if necessary, play hard.
Come play with us, Borliss! =D
P.s. to any Devona’s folks online, you can gather a fair bit of intelligence from this pic. Those are YOUR Borderlands it was taken on!

Dont Mess with Borlis Pass Brother, Remember We’ll Always hunt you Down
You people are far too serious. To any and all interested, I propose we play a game, if indeed you wanna hunt me down, lol. The first of our enemies to snap a screenie of my defeated carcass and post it here gets 25 silver pieces! First and first only! Cause nobody likely wants multiple shots of me feeding worms all throughout this thread.
Rules are simple:
- It must be Yumiko (my ranger).
- Guild tag must be clearly visible for it to count. Shouldn’t be hard to tell it’s me, there’s all of about six of us from [SLVR] who WvW and I’m by far the only one whack enough in the head to specialize in ranger. Plus, I have a brown bear in tow.
- Bounty paid only to the account of the first person who posted the pic here. Does not count for other folks in the shot. If you guys split it somehow that’s on you cause it’s at that point your money.
- I will not drop hints as to my times of play in WvW, or my location therein. I will however let my corpse linger for a short period to facilitate greater chances of finding me.
- Keep it clean. I can appreciate a good joke (as I tend to tell many), but nothing lewd or offensive please. (Means no “bagging”!)
For anyone potentially complaining about the bounty price. One, I’m not wealthy for cryin’ out loud! Secondly, good luck getting 25 silver pieces for anything else ingame that equates to all of about 5 to 10 minutes of your personal time (Monthlies only give like 50s, c’mon…). The bounty will be paid by ingame mail, or if that doesn’t work I will arrange a meeting with you and deliver it personally in LA via guesting on your server.
Happy hunting, folks!

I notice that BP and EB are for the most part avoiding fighting each other and are concentrating on DR. I vacillate between being honored that you guys fear us so much that you must team up on us and smfh at how strange you look in the skirt and pig-tails..

Oh, terribly sorry. Most rude of us… We were looking for parking and found no lots on your BL. You might want to consult your public services department on that. =D
We do so loves our golem trains. Can’t just park them anywhere you know?. Choo choooo!

I’ve been seeing exactly the opposite actually. At least in my timeslot. We’ve been kind of occupied with BP. You’re ALL opponents to me though, so I suppose it all depends on who is in front of me at the time. Usually BP, again. Since they seem to be the more agressive in my time of play. -Shrug-
(edited by KStudios.2850)
So every BP PvP player is terrible because of the JP people you met? I don’t know if you realized but a lot of the jumping puzzle people are PvE people.
Also, have you met GOAT or WAR? Instead of complaining how terrible we are at the JP, go out there and find a real challenge in the ACTUAL WvW.
Scrub.
I assume you didn’t read my second post, because I clearly stated that this was aimed at those players and not every BP PvP player.
And I’ve probably seen GOAT on the battlefield but don’t remember anything in particular, WAR is great on the battlefield but from what I’ve seen not very good in PvP (it’s an opinion, QQ more). Btw the only one complaining here is you complaining about my post. Why would I complain about how my enemy is terrible? Lmao
Again it’s obvious you didn’t read my second post because I have found a challenge in the actual WvW with Echo. (very good fights and lots of fun)
Scrub for encouraging my opponent to improve in an area I believe they lack in? Ha, pretentious, pretentious.
Well, if you’re looking for great PvP players, go to Heart of the Mists. From what I know, BP does not have any roaming guilds (I think only HUNT).
So don’t come on the forums and make fun of how bad our players are or we’ll start making fun of how bad your server is at WvW and how the only reason you’re ‘close’ in the match up is because of the potential threat of Ehmry Bay.
I find this post to be very disgusting coming from a commander.
Yeah, and I’m sorry. But if somebody says one of my future child is bad at sports or drawing, I’m not going to sit around and take it! :o
Love it! XD
Now you might say, “Well just give me some buffs for when the pet’s stowed to make up the difference”. At this point there’s no reason to ever take the pet out, and what’s worse is that you’re now playing a class that has nothing to set it apart from any other. Bows are not Ranger-exclusive (Warrior, Thief), nor are Traps (Thief), nor are pretty light clothing.
Precisely the point of this entire post. A stowed pet would no longer be granting the ranger anything at all. All former base stat consolidation between ranger and pet would be no more, and everything originally shared with the pet would be returned to the ranger themselves. We’re wanting the ability to go completely petless if we so desire. And for rangers then being outclassed in every conceivable way by every other prof, separate topic entirely, and we’re working on that one too.
As for other profs using bows. True, but I’m sorry, we do it better. Thieves especially, while having pretty and overall very flashy arching shortbow skills, are not terribly useful with them unless perched somewhere firing down on an opponent or being used to run away quickly (all they’re really used for in WvW). Since all other thief shortbow skills are easily sidestep-able.
Whichever one of you BP pistol toting thieves was shooting at me with that broken wall between us in Klovan earlier before your mini-horde reinforcements plowed over me; it was both fun and slap-stick humorous. Haven’t had to side-step dodge and weave that much… like, EVER! XD
A shame Daily Dodger wasn’t up, I’d have had that in half a minute flat.
(edited by KStudios.2850)
EBay took my overlook. Should i build another 10 golems and go for revenge ? .
Bu-but… we just put up the nice silken emerald curtains! D’=
But… I’ll miss Bark Skin trait so much…
Thieves already hate me cause they have to go through 2-3 traps to even touch me anyway. The average amongst them only has 10k -14k health. While I’m kiting and evading, I’m also planting the things all the time. They have no choice but to go through them, lol XD
(edited by KStudios.2850)
Lmao! Both funny and quite true.
I actually… Utterly adore this. O.o
As someone who is also beating the “I wanna be my own ranger” horse, I admire your rather unique perspective on this issue. I say press on with it. Ferrets, parakeets, rats, snakes, iguanas… possibilites. Also, aside from the damage dealing aspect, the mechanics of the game as is could largely remain the same.
Best of all, they could still grant boons based on their species!
Snakes: Venom adds X-amount poison damage per random main weapon attack. With cooldown.
Ferrets and Crows: Stealth for X-amount time per trigger/condition, or watered down steal.
Rats: Forage for X-percent chance of better items when gathering.
Iguana: Passive bonus to swim speed.
The more I think about it, the better this idea becomes…

It seems like EBay will not go back to tier 4 in a looooooooooong time, at least BP seems to be fun to fight.
Not complaining are you? I got kinda sick of looking up to find scores 60k+ our own where we just came from. I’m having a blast here with how close this is. Borliss has really stood up and went all in. So I say lets either supplant them and go back to where we were, or work Borliss up into such a froth that when we send them on their way up they give ’em kitten themselves! >=P
Personally, I don’t want a mandatory pet as a ranger. I’m drawn to the class because I love the concept of a nature-oriented archer, not because I want a near-useless stray mutt limping after me. Your response to such remarks has been something along the lines of, “Tough. L2p. It’s a core mechanic; this isn’t GW1.” You seem unable to recognize that it’s precisely that core mechanic – pets – that’s being called into question. Reminding us all that pets are intended to be a defining characteristic of the ranger class is irrelevant when the feedback offered is precisely that many players do not like that mechanic, and wish it were optional.
The part that so utterly befuddles me is this feeling that they got it so much more right the first time. With the ranger more so than any other profession. It was diverse, it was versatile, it was in large part magnificent. And true, we’re not asking to go back to the original game. Yet it feels like with our profession that we’ve lost so much.
No… Now I can sit for up to two hours or more in Lion’s Arch or any other dungeon gathering venue and wait for a group. Then to finally get one, and when my icon pops up in team have someone say, “…Wait, you’re a ranger?” Anet, there is pain in this. Why is it we’re not being heeded? We are told to deal with what we’ve been given, and yet we’re still that lone little kid on the playground nobody wants to play with.
Frustrating. =)
(edited by KStudios.2850)
The only real issue I have with ArenaNet’s concept of the Ranger is that my pet has to account for ~40% of my damage. Because of its mediocre ‘AI’, inability to hit moving targets reliably and subsequent deaths whenever an AoE is flung in its general direction; you are left with a Ranger operating at ~60% potential most of the time in damage-heavy encounters (WvW and dungeons).
In a nutshell; the Ranger’s damage potential is kitten because there is too much (theoretical) damage potential allocated to a secondary computer controlled entity that does not function properly.
Next to that we have this active combat system where positioning and dodging are key to survival. Yet our pets can’t position nor dodge and basically seem to operate with a limited version of WoW style AI mechanics (and there pets had 90% reduced damage from AoE to compensate for their limited AI).
As such I believe that ArenaNet should change the Ranger60%/Pet40% to Ranger80%/Pet20%. Bring the focus back that our pet is a ‘support class’ with a special ability to supplement our own arsenal; not something that takes away 40% of the Ranger’s damage potential but is incapable of providing it during combat.
Next up they should focus on giving pets the same Agony Resistance as the Ranger and either give the pet some form of passive defenses to help it survive. A passive resistance to AoE spells and effects could be such a means of defense.
But I sincerely hope they will not simply add more and more buttons so we will effectively be forced to micromanage 2 characters in order to function. If we are forced to play with a computer controlled entity, at least try and give it some form of ‘intelligence’.
Just my opinion on the matter…
This… THIS
Greetings, oh ye of like mind.
-Sigh of relief in knowing one is not alone in free-flowing objective thought after all-
This as well, would at least be a step in the direction I’m looking at. Though there are admittedly times when I’d rather simply be rid of my pet entirely. Especially in dungeons, fractals, and WvW.

We know where the dialogue with the developers is at now,
anything else is just navel gazing. You’re welcome to navel gaze to your heart’s content, just don’t be surprised when alot of people don’t really engage you, because anyone whose been on this sub-forum for any appreciable length of time is pretty much navel gazed out.
This is fine. I’m not necessarily asking a dev anything. If I wanted a dev, I’d directly seek out a dev and nobody else short of a dev. If a dev decided to chime in, that’s fine. Devs are no more or less people than anyone else. This is not necessarily the case however. I’m addressing YOU I want YOUR opinion, the players. My fellow rangers. Yet I find myself oddly beset upon by hostility, snarky comments about how I should be pleased with the status quo when the status quo is plainly bugged and glitching out, or those trying to cage or quantify my ideas. Conversation is the written or verbal exchange of thoughts and ideas. It inherently requires no real binding. Yet instead what you’ve offered thus far is that you’ve apparently caged yourself within a “framework” of discussion.
Then take a moment to organize your thoughts, and distill the appealing elements of what you were familiar with in a way that works within the framework of the discussion.
For the record, that discussion is;
- Ranger must work with pets
- Solution should work for people with varying levels of multitasking skills.
- Pets must be made more survivable in dodge/kite heavy content but not more survivable in dodge/kite lite content
- Ranger mechanics can’t change from one game-mode to another.
- Solution should not involve changing a stat across the board (AOE resistance), and try to involve Pet AI, Mechanics, or player actions. If you’re current desires seem at face value contradictory to the framework of the discussion, step back for a moment and think of approaching the problem from a new creative angle that isn’t. It isn’t in the best interest of the class to have one side of a viewpoint contributing, and another side refusing to engage entirely.
-You’re restricting yourself to a any framework at all? I am not. I’m seeking to expand upon that which I’m already confined by default. Yes, we are told, “Ranger must work with pets.” My question is why? Why am I so irrevocably chained to my dear Tooki? A lovable, furry, and fiercely loyal shackle… but a shackle nonetheless
- So by this you’re saying they’re researching possibly giving pets even MORE buttons and tabs? This is a slope most treacherous.
- I in no way disagree with this. For those that wish to keep their pets around, they should be able to live with them.
- Again, I’m not asking for an overall class change. I have little issue with the majority of the traits and skills I’m given (well, perhaps aside from the fact that thieves get a skill that mimics [Entangle], a ranger elite, on a slightly lesser level as a first tier skill for one point in cost… but this is another discussion entirely). I’m asking to have returned to me the damage percentage my pet inflicts, and as stated above one extra NON-UTILITY SKILL TOGGLED dodge, or one other small mobility perk, might be nice. You’re telling me this is unreasonable or in any way game shattering? That’s difficult to see.
- None of the above mentioned do any such thing. Minus perhaps the damage, which one way or another is already mine to begin with. I just want it to come from me directly, that is all I’m asking.
Framework of whose discussion? As I openly stated to Wispy back in post number four, I’m not intending to adhere to any previous conversation of the ranger profession. I’m not asking that my owl be given six inch talons with which to rend Graul faces. I’m asking why I’m restrained from my very rightful stats to a creature , and then penalized for its death, as if it should somehow affect me at all. Do you share any measure of your strength and/or natural senses with your housecat? I’d certainly hope not… that would be weird and unnatural. At that point it would no longer be a housecat as we know it, but instead some oddly cute parasite.
Accept the reality of what the ranger is/isn’t and based on that decide if you want to continue to play one.
Understand somethings are core and wont change easily.
I do not adhere the notion that one should or should not seek to improve something, merely because it is “traditional” or has a specific appeal. I have emphasized throughout this entire post that choice (and the need for more of it) is the biggest matter in this, and as of present we have none. Rigidity in one’s beliefs has never, and will never, produce change. Favorable or otherwise.
On that same coin, I have not by any means claimed the path I’m seeking opinion on alone is right for everyone. To make such an assumption is blatantly biased. Thus, I am open to suggestion and/or exchange and deliberation.
You are happy the way things stand as is. There is nothing inherently wrong with this. I am pleased that you are thusly pleased. I do not believe asking to explore something closer to my favorite profession’s predecessor is in any way unreasonable, nor game breaking however. We could certainly use that kind of versatility once more. =)
(edited by KStudios.2850)
You are not alone…
I never used them in GW1 on my Ranger, why must i be forced too in GW2?
We should have a choice like Necros have a choice…
My feelings exactly. The Necro’s minions are often a tremendous boon, and they have connecting skills and traits to help them utilize and take advantage of their critters. While not necessarily being bound to them directly, as Rangers are.
I do agree with Wispy, although you put your point across well, another thread really wasn’t needed. I guess if you hang out in the Ranger forums a lot you just get a little sick of seeing the same things cropping up, it’s in no way a personal attack. From the thread he linked to you here is a direct quote from Dev Robert Hrouda that specifically addresses your issue:
“There have been some calls for perma-stowed pets, and while I have said this in other areas I will say it again here. I don’t think we will let you perma-stow pets – the main reason being we want the player to be interacting with the pet, and the pet to be part of the identity of the player. The role of ranger is to to have a pet in our game, and with that comes a bit of extra micromanagement that comes with the package. Right now the micromanage is difficult and more tools are desired, and I honestly feel that once we make micromanaging pets easier, more responsive, and better in general that players won’t mind that they don’t have perma-stow capabilities.”
Disheartening. Then in my opinion we will always be “g-word,” the favorite term of those who speak against our profession. Not only am I burdened to have to micromanage a separate creature in combat, unable to ever fully focus on the fight at hand, when said creature dies I am penalized not only in that a significant portion of my damage output being gone. Also in any buffs or perks it was providing me. Don’t get me wrong, I like the fact that they grant such things, however. Oftentimes, if both pets die (which in places like WvW is frequently, cause it’s not like other players don’t know this) I’m left in this particular state until the pet-swap cooldown cycles through.
It doesn’t bother anyone else that every other response in any “tips for new ranger” thread that appears is usually upon the lines of “Yeah, roll a warrior, thief, guardian, etc”? Another familiar one being, “want GW2 hardmode? Roll a ranger.”
(edited by KStudios.2850)
Well, that is progress one supposes, and congratulations on that. Also, a heartfelt thanks for linking the post in general. It appears at a glance to be an interesting read, and read it I no doubt shall. I do however, not see the direct relation to my post in general. I’m not asking for a black widow spider health buff. I’m asking for opinion(s) on the optional removal or stowing of what I consider to be a malfunctioning and grievously gangrenous limb (the pet) from the overall body (the ranger profession).
As stated:
Why is something that should at best be an add-on or perk completely defining the ranger class?
(edited by KStudios.2850)
I’ve lost count of how many of these threads have been made, if you’re going to make such a long post use the search function beforehand to avoid reiterating what has been asked countless times before. A lot of people don’t like pets, a lot of people do like pets, and Anet balances the profession around permanently having an active pet. They will not be made optional anytime soon, if ever.
Then instead of basically telling me not to post because I’m walking a well trodden path, why not tell me what I’ve hit or missed since you’ve apparently seen such threads? As for no apparent help being forthcoming… Most unfortunate.
(edited by KStudios.2850)
Disclaimer: Not intended as a hate or whine thread. Please review/comment objectively.
Am I alone in sometimes wishing pets could be “turned off” entirely? Seriously, in my opinion the pet should not make/break the profession. In the original Guild Wars it was often rare to even see a ranger with a pet outside of Jade Quarry PvP (even having a pet active took up one or more of your eight skill slots). We were trappers, interrupters, and professional aggro pullers/manipulators. In those things we had legitimate strategic purpose as a class. We had a solid range of diversity that I’d really like to see again.
When I see dev posts here in the ranger forums, most of what I see is “we’re aware pets need adjustments and this is where we’re focusing.” Why? I grieve because I love the profession, it easily being my favorite; and yet I can’t always find a group for dungeons and fractals outside of my guild. To make it worse, this is often for good reason, my pet. They run ahead and draw aggro if not properly watched and maintained. Mine is usually placed on docile the entire time unless on a boss where at least they can soak a few hits for me or someone else. Which comes to the second part, pet survivability. Most of them dying within a few hits in direct enemy agro. Amidst a slew of other noteworthy (mostly AI based) issues. I won’t even touch upon pets in PvP arenas like WvW, because doing so I believe will broaden the scope of the conversation beyond its necessary limits.
Again, I’m not trying to troll or toss another “oh woe is me” post here. I want legit opinions on this. Why is something that should at best be an add-on or perk completely defining the ranger class? Me, I’d be perfectly happy being able to stow the pet away if I so chose (outside of combat only of course, as the option should not be allowed during to prevent any sort of infight stat manipulation). In doing so getting all my own damage output returned to me directly instead of being consolidated between two entities, and maybe having something cool like one extra bar on my endurance for one extra dodge or something.
Thoughts?

I love them as an offand for PvE. Whirling is an amazing skill.
Thanks Yak’s Bend, for double teaming us, constantly, all the time, while Crystal Desert’s borderlands almost always remained untouched. I guess taking stuff from a server that can’t challenge you is fun. We had second place for a while, but even a server as skilled as ours can’t hold off 100x the amount of players we have.
Next time, attack Crystal Desert more.
~No respect.Peace.
Cya again soon. LOLDear angry EB’er.
Zerg more like the rest of your server.
That is all.
;)
Where are all our zergs?! >.<
I must miss a ton whilst I sleep during our primetime. I’m on through the early mornings until noon while most of NA sleeps. I’ve only once ever even seen a proper EBay zerg… By “proper” meaning anything above 15-30 players. Anything less is a group, or possibly a evekittenerg-lette.
Edit: Wait… why did it block me from using the “z word” the third time (see above)? Are we honestly restricted to only using that word twice per post? XD
(edited by KStudios.2850)
If the developers need feedback on pets in dungeons, We’re in more trouble then we thought.
Personally I’ve gone through just about every explorable mode without my pet dying… Granted I have 30pts in BM, so that may be why.
PS: I use drakes, fire and reef, or a fern wolf+ Moa/Drake combo and have no problem either way, and YES I keep my pet on the boss/mob for well over 80% of the fight, with a few exceptions.
TA Patch 1 I think it is, if you teleport inside the shield part, it’ll auto kill your pet, if you swtich pets while inside, it also auto kills your pet.
My pets die in the dungeons, not a whole lot since i’m 30 BM also, but they die enough that its annoying as hell.
Fractals past 10 start to get really annoying on them as well.
Double digit fractals might as well remove pets altogether since they will tank nothing but the ground and make killing the Maw take even longer because the kitten thing targets your pet which obviously accomplishes nothing for the team.
The fact that a dev who claims to play the class doesn’t know this is just silly and furthers my theory that they just don’t play the class at all.
i think they all just play the game at a much lower level than most of us. like, Robert seems satisfied gimping his group by running some sort of evasion tank condition ranger, which to me is an indication that actual players need to be consulted more.
Groups just need to know how to deal with a ranger. Usually in dungeons it’s best just to have the pet on guard only except maybe in melee boss fights where they can at least soak some amount a damage. We’re no thieves, but we are pretty evasive and have respectable mobility on the field. Not only that, and I can’t speak for everyone, but I know when I’m on a boss with a group, it usually doesn’t take long for them to lock aggro on me, and I often hold it for about 3/4 of the fight (I could say it’s my stunning attractiveness, but hey, lol. It’s probably just something in the enemy AI). In this situation, my usual group knows they can kick back and have a bit of a break and swap to ranged options, while I lead and goad the enemy into running circles about the room. I can’t tank the guy, in most respects, and I’ll not even try. I can however, pull him into a kiting AI induced merry-go-round of death while he’s getting pelted by the other players from afar, without a great deal of difficulty. Does this sometimes take more time that simply wailing on him? Most certainly. My friends however, have come to realize that a bit of patience in this case can actually be a wallet saver in terms of repairs and such.
So in my opinion, a lot of it comes down to how astute and able to compensate for most given situations your team is. I know when I do dungeons, fractals, and other long term mission-type excursions, my entire bottom couple bars of inventory become my “armory bars.” In which I carry anything I’m expecting to need for the journey ahead. At least one of each of all my weapon and offhand options. So I can swap up if the circumstances call for me to need to do so. As well as armor repair canisters, foods, utility extras, etc. What can I say, I’m an ex-D&D player. You don’t put a sword and a torch in some kid’s hands and tell him to run that minotaur maze dungeon and expect to ever see him come out again. An experienced adventurer (in this case player) knows that he’s going to need a little more than that for success. Like chalk… oh good gawd, the seemingly humble piece of chalk, and its astounding potential to save one’s kitten. Most dungeons are often also mazes, so I really shouldn’t need to explain that one. I begin to digress though.
The pet AI does need some serious work though… Maybe some more commands or simple battle tactics? Maybe a “heel!” command, where the pet will still attack if I am attacked, but will remain within a short radius of me and otherwise will not go running into combat/mass aggro like his name was Leroy Jenkins… And if you named your pet that, you’re already a sick kitten anyway. XD

And for people who supposedly “don’t care” they sure like to talk about it. X)
He also said “most people.” I care… Enjoy your possible rise in rank, and the bragging rights therein, CD. You’ve earned them I guess. I wish you the best.
CD only brags when the other people taunt us first.
And I actually think T5 would be a more fun environment. Can’t understand why you like getting stomped by YB/Mag so much.
As stated in my previous. We haven’t actually, by my definition, ever been stomped by Yaks this match-up. Sheer point numbers included? Yeah maybe… but… meh.
Transfer to CD and be our NA krewe. T.T
Sovvie! I finally met you at Garrison!…

I think there is some truth to Boss’ statement but it isn’t necessarily nice.
Thing is CD has been double teamed (generally) during NA prime time. We have the lowest population during that time, so we just try to hang on. The consequent talking how we are “bad” is not really called for.
Like last night, EB committed most of their players to hold CD keep. They had (I gave it a rough count) 25+ people defending it. We had about 25 attacking. It made no sense to me that EB would focus CD so hard instead of defending against YB, but it didn’t matter, we ended the night with us higher on PPT scale.
Do we have the right to exact some revenge? Of course. And I’m glad for that. Does it mean it’s malicious trash talk, not necessarily. Same can be said of ANY server that trash talks.
Wait, wait… So -THIS- (see below) is “some revenge”? Over one keep?
If anything we fight you because until now you’ve been far closer to us. I can’t speak for everyone and won’t attempt to try, but Yaks is out of our league still. I honestly think if they really wanted to they could still push us both to the ground and simply hold us down if they wished. They don’t. If anything I’ve seen of Yaks, they prefer quality fights. They come ashore on a BL, take a few things, set up siege to run the defenders through a bit of a guantlet, and follow through accordingly. Basically stroll up with half a bee-suit on, kick a beehive, and see what happens. I’ve not once awoken to find a green map.

Gratz on the PvDoor.
Most people could care less honestly.

“Godly”? It took us almost five mins to scrounge up the folks to perform the following breakout.
So… Who kicked mini-Kaineng’s puppies? T.T
WvW is so boring no one has posted in here for over 9 HOURS. lol Awesome.
Did you have something in particular you wished to discuss, Mr./Mrs. Wreck?
(jump in)
- point finger at Guild Missions -

:p
At least you guys got the manning to do the Guild Missions. I hear they take large groups.
You hear me [SLVR]? We must eat alls our veggies and grow! So we can haz insane amounts of rawr in WvW!… At this point I’d settle for mildy unstable amounts of rawr. <.<

Ehmry Bay currently only has 3 guilds that can rally more than 40 players. That’s FTF, GH, and PK. With the recent loss of some guilds, these 3 guilds tried to get as much people to wvw as they can by recruiting them to their guilds. This resulted in our members over all quality as far as skill is involved to go down. Our guild is freakin’ averaging 100 online every night! So we divided FTF into squads and assigned squad leaders to manage and train their members according to their playstyle.
The work and professionalism you guys provide is appreciated, even within our own server ranks. The smaller “swab” guilds like mine, who beyond having a few hardcore WvW’ers, would’nt get by without your folks dedication! =D
Thank you, dear CD. I spent about 45 mins on your borderlands, completing the gathering, kill variety, and caravan wrecking portion of my daily. I did so with such utter impunity, despite seeing at least four of your folks milling about, one of them literally running over the top of me at Godslore without notice. I was compelled to report this stellar freedom of movement to one of our Commanders. Who you may notice has just recently begun harassing your camps and keeps. You’re most welcome for the morning entertainment. =)
>3< Our homeland security isn’t that good. And it was right of you to report it to your commander.
That’s two things you guys have an advantage over us.
Tis true, our defense is pretty good. While you guys tend to excel more in the offense department… Such oddballs we are, having opposite boons and weaknesses, lol.

Score by golem train once again!
Glad you guys like the things so much. I for one can’t stand the tediously slow plodding along… I’m no good with driving stick, or 2×2 all terrain drive either.
I’ve never seen that happen, but if you see such strategies being utilized, why not just report the players involved? I think selecting the player and rightclicking their head works?
Because reporting it has not stopped anyone of questionable sportsmanship from partaking in it. Nothing else to it.
It shouldn’t be an option. It should be an automatic effect of claiming anything that is claimable. You claim the flag, everyone in the area of the flag are moved. You claim the supply depot, everyone is moved. You claim the keep, same thing. Automatically, your reward for being dead and losing the area is a free trip to your asura gate. None of this nearest WP either. You go to the beginning. IF you can go somewhere else from there you do that yourself.
Exactly. I’m thinking this would work best on some sort of timer. Say, thirty seconds? So they have time to pick a different destination in that time if they so chose.
So yakkers… slow day huh?
Pants, or no pants on them Yaks?
Maybe we should start some sort of twenty-four hour Streak-Fest or something. Leaving it up to them to kick that off if they want, lol. They have more manning and points than either of us. >=D
How’about it Yaks? What say we whip out the baby oil and have a day of slicked-up extra squishy squishiness?
Not gonna lie, CD put a hurtin’ on us this morning. Best I could do aside from kill any solo roamers I came across was help four other folks hold on to their Borderlands Vale for over an hour or so. Easily defensible spot with a bit of siege. I could brag about it being a badge farm or whatever, like many seem to dabble in, but badges alone are empty victories in the face of 50 points on the board.
Don’t know where all our folks were at, was outmanned off and on for the entire three hours I was in before leaving to polish off daily. Where’s the numbers we had the other day? Was nice to for once be on completely even ground personnel-wise. We squeeze 10-11k points ahead and everyone thinks it’s breaktime I guess. :P
We’re back at about a 6k lead as I type this. I’ll be impressed if they take it back.
And wheres the fun in clearing death people ? if it ever would get implemented and people are aware of it,then there is a great chance the option would never be used at all since people would spawn back to wp’s instantly. Why hang around when people will clear you ? The point is..there is no need for a “clear dead option” at all..If only they would remove the ability for us to res death people through a gate, wich doesn’t even make sense to begin with.
Considering the same thing gets done both ways (the dead respawning) why does that mean it shouldn’t be done?
Precisely. It doesn’t matter. It’s just a timed forced respawn.
Disable the ability for players to res each other through a gate…
Where’s the fun in that, lol? In fact, just use the “clear the dead” option to send them back home or to the next nearest waypoint. Anyone who would resort to such tactics deserves to hup it a bit, I say.
Call me a bit vindictive lol.
Title says all. We need a “clear the dead” option at the guild claiming NPC in each keep within WvW. Instantly transferring all corpses several ingame meters outside the palisade walls. Living enemies in hiding are one thing. Perfectly acceptable. Having to sit next to the corpse of a dead Mes laying near a gate awaiting to be rezzed from outside just as a “Kitten, please…” is an overall waste of my time.
-Edit: March 6th-
After deliberation below, it has been deemed that instead of simply moving the enemy corspes outside the keep, it would be more proper (and easier on the programmers) to simply have a forced respawn back to the nearest waypoint for any fallen. Probably on some sort of timer. So say, after thirty seconds of capping any outpost, the enemy’s dead (and only the dead), would be moved back to the nearest point of origin.

Good to see CD up to their old tricks by having a Mesmer die at the door
Reported him everyone that helped him res…
And yes he was from that ’’Guild’’
This… ^
