This is a terrible solution for what the described problem is. What you actually want is a minipet slot in your hero panel, like everyone else who has ever brought this up. Being able to lock deposit slots is just silly.
Invisible bags don’t auto deposit.

just plus 1
Also, customizable UI will be great – SWTOR have it, works perfect
More importantly GW1 has it. Lets have at least the functionality of the first game.
I don’t see a value in a delay. If someone wants to have intended in combat SSB and out of combat SSB that seems perfectly acceptable. As long as it can’t be changed while in combat. This means if they mess up and get into combat before swapping back they’re stuck with it. Happens all the time with skills of the same nature.
It a failure to adapt or understand the game’s mechanics. Solo play is different from group play, and landscape play is different from dungeons.
Soloing on the landscape ANY class chugs along just fine even in really crappy builds. The solo bearbow ranger is thus misled into thinking “Hey, I’ve figured this game out. Look at how good I am!” Fluffy the bear tanks, not because it has extra threat or does great damage – it tanks because the game massively prioritizes attacking the target you can reach now rather than the one you can hit in 2-3 seconds if you walk over to it. The ranger is plinking away gloriously unaware that he’s suffering the double whammy of the ranged attack damage coefficient (ranged attacks just plain old do less base DPS than their melee equivalents) AND the -25% to -40% that is the tax for having Fluffy as a class mechanic. A.k.a. his damage is as bad as it can possibly get, and so he rarely pulls things off the bear. The standard vision of the great Hunter+Pet Archetype is upheld and all seems right with the world.
And then they get into a group. The bear’s incredibly bad damage means than an ill tempered melee-Mesmer will pull agro off of it in one rotation, and let’s not even get into the laugh riot that is how fast a warrior seizes aggro from Fluffy.
Here’s one of the dark secrets of tanking – there is no prize for second place. You either have control of the mob or you’re just coincidentally in melee… and probably should be standing behind it to avoid cleaves (yet another thing the pet AI is blissfully oblivious to…).
The bear is WORTHLESS as a tank in most group play, and yet the Ranger, seeing that he’s not pulling agro (double de-buffed by range and class mechanic, remember) thinks Fluffy is doing a great job. And he thinks he’s doing a great job dishing the worst DPS in the game. But by-golly, it sure looks like he’s avoiding damage, dishing steady DPS, and Fluffy is a tank to be admired, all in accordance to the great Hunter+Pet Archetype learned in some other game where threat and face-tanking are the tools of the trade.
I love my Ranger, but even out on the landscape solo, if I can’t pull agro off my pet I’m not doing enough damage. And in a dungeon, you can bet I’m rolling Spotter, I’m dropping springs in close where they reinforce the wounded, and I’m constantly moving to make sure that while my shortbow damage may not be the best there is, I’m leveraging every button on the tool bar and keeping my health solid so I can get in and take a few hits while standing back up any teammate that catches a bad break on a dodge.
I feel like this post was written last year as there are several assertions that don’t actually coincide with game mechanics.
One, agro is not based on closeness of the target. The biggest concideration, in my experience, is toughness. This is one of the reasons that even at max range I can draw agro with my poorly damaging bow because I have entirely too much toughness and mobs will chance me down. I am almost always the target of choice for open world champions like the Ulgoth, despite the rest of the zerg that is almost certainly doing much more damage. The reason the bear draws agro is because it too has massive toughness.
In a dungeon situation, especially a zerker situation it doesn’t matter how hard the warrior or Mesmer hits the boss it will want to play with the bear because the bear has toughness and no one else does. Unfortunately, that is actually the problem. You don’t want your pet to tank in the dungeon because even the bear will take two shots and drop and now you’re lost that 25-40% of your damage that wasn’t doing very good damage in the first place. Worse, because it was your pet when it dies it may transfer its agro to you and cause the boss to move away from where it was supposed to go. Also, because the bear is such an agro magnet it may cause the boss to not move when you want it to since you can’t really make the bear move around when you want.
If the bear does lose agro, though, it doesn’t just stand there getting smacked. It’s AI immediately sends it behind its target to flank.

This interests me greatly because as far as I understand LB has some of the worse DPS in the game.
Now if it wasn’t viewable directly by others and you need to ping it then it isn’t as bad as people would be able to find the chat codes for it and then they could ping whatever the ‘elitists’ want them to while not sacrificing their own build on the whims of another.
The amount of effort it would take to look that up would appear to dwarf the effort to research an ‘acceptable’ build, no?
Also, wouldn’t the overall structure of the gear matter just as much as the trait lines, if not more? This isn’t at you, just in general.
Again, not necessarily true. I’d keep them on hand to sate those that want to force what they want me to play. I know I’m not running what many would consider to be optimal, yet I still find myself one of the last to fall and have very, very rarely had a complaint as to my performance. But based on my build, some would just pass me by.
And yes, gear matters strongly as well. Someone trying to force a condi geared ranger to run a damaging stat will, instead of getting better performance, will get someone far worse than if that player would bring their usual build.
I love how you’re solution to being put on the spot with a system that would force you to tell the truth is to figure out how to cheat the system so you can still lie. This is great because the whole point of this system is to prevent people from lying to the group about their build so other people who are not necessarily qualified to judge you or your build can decide if you’re acceptable.
It’s actually the same thing that I’ve considered since the first time I saw one of these ping suggestions. It shouldn’t be that hard to fake.
I am of the opinion that if you are pugging you should have to deal with whatever you get. If they are actively incompetent then kick them, but if they can do the encounters, whether they are perfect or not, too bad.
If you expect people to be using specific builds you shouldn’t be pugging in the first place.

The funny thing is that I’ ve spent these last two days..duelling most of the rangers who posted comments towards me like : You can’ t play this class ^^ Learn to play and so on..^^
They were simply nabs ah ah who died so easily..
I won’ t write their names here to avoid being reported..but seriously..before writing such things..really learn to play your ranger ^^ ah ah))
I got dragon class in sPvP but asked Anet not to let it show and I got full ascended gear in PvE but transmuted all to low tier skins just so I don’t embarass people ingame.
Get a grip sunshine, this post is even more ridiculous than your first.
So you transmuted your weapons? I mean really, full ascended gear? What does that even mean? You’ve got jewelry and a backpack and weapons. Jewelry and the backpack are common place, and the weapons are craftable, so why would anyone be embarrassed? I put a lot of work into my backpack so I like to show it off. I haven’t bothered with the weapons yet, but unless they look amazing, instead of squirrely like most of the crafted weapons I’ll end up transmuting them anyway.
I’m just lost at what the point of this post was.
+1
Selfish entitled players want everything and don’t think it’s fair that prestige items exist that they can’t get. Except they can: the skins are still availble on the TP.
Oh the cost is too high? So it’s greedy selfish entitled players who are also misers. Nice.
I have to say, it’s funny that both sides are using the same argument.
If you want your luck based reward to have more meaning than just, “it’s a skin I like to use,” or to force people to have to pay you for it because you happened to be lucky enough to get it you’re a greedy selfish entitled player. See how that falls into place. Greedy because you’re forcing people who either weren’t luck or never had the opportunity to pay exorbitant amounts for something that cost you nothing to acquire. Selfish because you don’t want them to have any other way to get it. Entitled because you happened to get it and still don’t want them to have the same options.
If you want another chance to get a skin other than having to go to great effort to pay for something that took no effort to acquire in the first place because you legitimately want to use it for its appearance and not at a pay day you’re a greedy selfish entitled player. No, that one doesn’t fit nearly so well. You’re not greedy for not wanting to pay hyper inflated prices one something, you’re frugal. You’re not selfish for wanting them to be available, that’s altruistic. You’re not entitled for want the option simply because it’s not a demand.
I do want it to be the case, I’ve always felt prestige items should be based on effort, not happenstance. Titles and achievements can be based on happenstance but actual items shouldn’t be. But I’m not insisting that’s the way it has to be because it’s not my game and ANet can do whatever they kitten well please with it. When someone insists that that is the only way it can be done and claims they will fly off the handle if it’s not done that way because they say so, that is entitled.
Ranger sword is the hardest weapon to use in the game. Don’t feel bad if you had trouble with it the first time. Most people never even bother to try to use it.
+25% run speed isn’t true if you use one of two rune sets with same bonuses. There are no weapon-type specific signets yet, but it doesn’t mean there can’t be.
Considering the number of class that have signets and there isn’t one for any of them, I’d say yes it does. The +25% is still true, it’s just not stacking. You will not go slower than 25% faster than normal speed while Signet of the Hunt is granting its passive effect.
It’s a cool idea and the active power is nice, especially the revised version, but the passive power needs work, and a 50% faster projectile effect should be a trait.
I was under the impression that was one of the three gear pieces you could start with as an Engi.
A build isn’t a role. I’m sorry that this seems to be too difficult to grasp but there it is.
You are right though. What they wanted isn’t important because they only got one role. DPS is the only role in GW2. A role is defined by what you need to bring to complex group content. Effectively what you need in dungeons. There is only one thing you need in dungeons and that’s DPS, therefore there is only one role. You were supposed to need Control and Support, as opposed to Tanking and Healing, but they broke the game before that became a reality and so they never got it.
It’s most definitely not skill to try and guess which bump in the ground ahead of you is within max range. You can’t just hold out the mouse and know you’re at the right spot from muscle memory because the shape of the ground changes your view and where that spot is. Anyone who think otherwise has not actually spent any real time tinkering with these powers.
Talking about the ground, what else is annoying is using a skill and then getting stuck on a stone and the skill being wasted :/
In an attempt to not give some classes an unfair advantage in jumping puzzles (and I really can’t think of any other case where it could make sense, though possibly invading keeps in WvW) they made it so you couldn’t teleport past gaps. This has had the unfortunate effect of causing the stupidest things to be viewed by the system as gaps, eating teleporting powers.
So a ledge that is slightly too tall? That’s a gap. A space that you could actually have jumped past? No that’s a gap you can’t go there.
Bunker isn’t a role. Just because you can spec for this play style doesn’t make it a role. Healing and Tanking are both part of support. Every class has the ability to be specced for support, dps and control. This is a fact. The problem is that neither support nor control are good for anything and so aren’t worth it.
Bunker is pretty much the same as Tank. In terms of other MMO games Tank is pretty much a bunker, take low damage and have high survivability while doing a little damage. The biggest problem is that certain support builds are FAR superior than support builds of other classes, same goes for healing builds and control builds. The only build that is really constant across all the classes is DPS and even then some classes are far superior at it.
You’re still failing to understand. Tank is Support or Control. Healing is Support. Therefore if a class can build well as a bunker they are building to Support. If a class can build well to healing they are building to Support.
DPS, Support, Control. Every class can spec to each of these. Are they all the same? No, of course not, and they shouldn’t be. They should play these roles different and have different strengths and weaknesses within how they build to these roles.
Ultimately, though, it still doesn’t matter because Support and Control are trash and DPS is king.
I take a little issue with what you said. Heavy and medium armor classes have pretty heavy DPS, plus they can bunker/tank.. On the other hand, light armor classes (especially E) don’t have the damage output to justify light armor.
My point is every class can’t tank while every class can DPS alomost at par. It doesn’t make a ton of sense.
Bunker is not a role. How is this not sinking in. Therefore any classes ability to bunker or not to bunker is meaningless in this debate.
I disagree that bunker is not a role. Perhaps by default but melee serve as bunkers. There’d be a lof of the light armor classes that would be unplayable in harder settings.
You can disagree all you want, but that just proves you don’t know anything about the development of the game, nor the intentions of the devs. This was never intended to be Tank, Heal, DPS where Bunker would be the definition of Tank.
This game is a different trinity. DPS, Support and Control. Bunker is a subset of Support. Support is the role which contains boons, condition eating, bunker, healing. Anything that isn’t directly damaging the enemy or stopping/slowing them down. Bunker in and of itself is not a role, therefore it doesn’t matter what classes are good at it because the other classes are good at something else within the Support role that is actually a role.
It’s most definitely not skill to try and guess which bump in the ground ahead of you is within max range. You can’t just hold out the mouse and know you’re at the right spot from muscle memory because the shape of the ground changes your view and where that spot is. Yes, if I drop the skill past the range limit it should go off at the range limit. Hell it would be even better if I were physically incapable of holding the target past the range limit. They’re able to restrict the movement of line attacks, why can’t they force my AoE reticle to stay within its range bounds?

The passive is still no good. They will never make a passive utility that only works under specific situations.
What are our signets?
Run Speed +25%, this is always true.
Drop a condition every 10 seconds, this is always true.
Increase Toughness, this is always true.
Regenerate, this is always true.
Increase projectile speed, this is only true for two two-handers, one main hand, and three other specific powers of three other weapons. This is only true for two pet groups.
That’s too limited.

I think some of you are missing the point of a unique event item. The rarity of the item is why people try to farm the crap out of the event and why prices are they way there are on the TP. If you still really want one, you can buy items like the scythe staff on the TP. To allow them to be re-released would be unfair to all those that put in the time and effort to farm or the money to purchase. For those using the RNG excuse and feel entitled to every single item just because you took part during the event…GROW UP.
Here is what it sounds like using a real world example. I buy 5 packs of Topps football cards hoping to get a Barry Sanders rookie card. I do not get one but the person after me does. Well that’s not fair, I think everyone who purchased a pack should get that rookie card. Maybe I can wait a whole year and next years’ cards will STILL have Barry Sanders as a rookie?!….that is honestly what this thread sounds like….and no, I am not an owner of one of those weapon skins.
No, that’s a bullkitten excuse. RNG automatically negates everything about a reasonable argument because RNG isn’t reasonable. Not everyone has the ability to get something when the only way to get it is random chance. It isn’t like these were special rewards for an event or contest. It was pure chance. If they were a reward for doing something I could accept them being unavailable, assuming the thing they were a reward for became unavailable.
The book is an example of this. If the quest for the book isn’t available this year then the skin shouldn’t be available. Getting lucky doesn’t entitle you to exclusive rights to the skin and the skin should become available again. If the value of the skin goes down in the market too bad. Everyone who managed to sell them for ridiculous amounts can feel proud of themselves, everyone who failed, too bad for you. Considering you got it because you were lucky and didn’t do any actual work for it everything you get no matter how low is profit.
Your example is utter trash as well. Why? Because I guarantee you that you got baseball cards from that pack. Maybe you didn’t get the card you wanted, but in every single pack of cards you did in fact get cards. There was no guarantee of getting a skin, that you wanted or otherwise, therefore there is no comparison.

Fix the Longbow #1 to not reduce damage wile under certain range. Fixed!
I don’t think that would fix this particular instance. I suspect the problem here is that the guy decided, “If I can fight from this far away, then I will fight from this far away.” Not that he needed to be that far away to do damage.

You do know that gold is generated by the system from nothing, right? It’s not a closed economy. That’s why there are so many gold sinks because they need to destroy the gold that is being generated. The gold you spend wasn’t introduced to the system from gems. The gold you spend stops existing, there isn’t some well where all the gold comes from/goes to and if everyone stopped spending any gold on anything it would eventually run dry.
That has nothing to do with his claim. His claim is that all gems enter the economy via real money exchange. Gems you buy with gold have already been bought with money and sold for gold.
Which makes the same amount of sense.
Saying, I got it when it first happened so you shouldn’t be able to get it again is elitist. Period. It isn’t a question of ANets design choices, the direction they choose to go, nor what they mean by limited and prestigious. It’s telling someone that since they missed it they should not be given the opportunity to get it. Everyone should get the opportunity, that doesn’t mean they will, but the default attitude of saying no I don’t want you to have what I have is what is elitist.
Then buy it like everyone else has this past year, they’re still on the TP. If you want it to be rereleased so that it becomes cheaper than the price that new players have been grinding for the past few months then that’s just as much an over-inflated sense of entitlement as wanting no one to have is a sense of elitism.
If it comes back at all, it should cost 5+ BLC tickets like the other rare chest skins.
You have a very odd sense of reality. But I could definitely care less what happens to prices on the trading post. It’s already a ridiculously over inflated waste of space.
While skill idea could be nice… They’d have to nerf our MoC/SoH active/SoW active or prepare for one-hit kill combo endless QQ
Having the chance to one shot a single/line of targets every minute seems fair to me. Especially when that one shot is dodgable/blockable/reflectable. How embarrassing would it be to pop all three signets, charge to full, then hit a whirling axe and kill yourself with it?
Yep, I think the talent system is one of the WORST i have seen. It is truly awful, very unbalanced and full of useless, bugged and broken traits.
They should take a look at Rift Talent system, the game might have died but that talent system was AMAZING.
THAT is how you make it so that a class can be anything. Unlike this game where some classes are FORCED into certain roles – Then again how many of the players in this game play anything other than Zerker or Bunker?
The whole system needs to be totally redesigned. They should make it like Rifts in terms of that ANY class can play ANY role – You have Thieves that can heal, You have Rangers that can tank, You have range Tanks as well. It was what made the game amazing for me.
First off, this game isn’t intended to be tank heal dps. Those aren’t the roles. It’s supposed to be DPS, Support, Control. In that regard every class can fill every role, it’s just that two of them are pointless because of how the game actually works.
That said, Rangers make amazing tanks.
I may have gotten this but 800 gems is far too much for this kind of content. That’s like a monthly subscription and I don’t think that’s worth a month in subscription fees.
What you said is completely contradictory. If you bought it, it’s priced correctly. That’s how supply and demand works.
They didn’t say that they bought it, they said that they may have been interested in buying it had it not been as expensive as it is, that had it been less expensive they’d have probably picked one up.
That is also in line with my feelings on the subject of Infinite Gathering Tools; I don’t mind “Soulbound on Use”, but at 800 Gems each…thanks, but no thanks. If they were 200 Gems each I’d be buying dozens of them. At 800 I won’t even be buying one.
Again, ArenaNet…people are more willing to make many smaller amount purchases over a single larger one, even if it ends up costing more in the long run. At 200 Gems each, I’d happily spend 6000 gems to outfits 10 characters with a single set of Infinite Gathering Tools, instead I’m spending no gems.
I’d also have no problem with buying additional versions of the infinite tools on each of those 10 characters when they are released or made available. I’d swap out to whichever I felt like using at the time. So also buying each variation of each Infinite Gathering Tool across 10 characters would really add up.
Infinite Gathering Tools
10 Characters
3 Infinite Tools Each
3 Variations of Each Tool (when made available)
18,000 – # of Gems I’d spend @ 200 Gems per tool
22,500 – # of Gems I’d spend @ 250 Gems per tool
ZERO – # of Gems I’ve spent and will ever spend on Infinite Tools that cost 800 Gems EachAnd that’s just on Infinite Gathering Tools and not even getting into what would have been spent on pieces from a single set of Gem Armor had armor pieces been sold individually in the gem store instead of as full sets.
99% of marketing is psychology.
Anet want people to buy gems with $ not gold. Your argument is invalid.
Anet wants people to buy gems, period, they don’t care whether is with $ or gold.
Lots of people seem to have the idea that gems purchased with gold are free gems, that’s not the case. Not counting the time used to get the gold, gems might be free to you, but someone already paid for them, and Anet got their money (well, there might have been some free ones placed there at release to start the market).
Each gem you buy with gold means that someone previously bought it with real money and sold it for gold, which is why the price fluctuates so much (offer and demand, more people selling gems = price of gems goes down, more people buying them with gold = price goes up). From anet point of view is exactly the same, they already got the money from the gems in the first place.
They obviously benefit from people buying gems with real money, and they also benefit from people buying them with gold, since when you do that you keep the market alive and well, making it attractive for more people to buy gems with money to convert to gold, plus it serves as a gold sink (converting gold to gems and back again takes about 30% out of the economy).
Ok, so looking at numbers exclusively you have twice as many minor traits and one less major trait plus three special major traits so actually plus two major traits. So the question is how, in your system, do you gain access to/unlock traits? Currently you unlock them every five points, but if you did that with this system you would come out with far fewer major traits available to you and could definitely not fill out both rings. Are you even intended to fill out both rings?
Also when do you gain access to the special traits in the three rings?
I would not use this in place of any of the other signets and I’m a Longbow Signet Ranger.
While it would be nice to shoot faster I would not be willing to lose regen, invulnerable, nor condition dropping.
So I was going to be smarmy because it sounded like the old elitist shtick of you’re not perfect so GTFO. But ultimately it’s a guy who is a kitten. It isn’t indicative of being a Ranger it’s indicative of not being able to play well with others.
I have a nonconventional spec. I don’t zerk, I don’t spirit, I don’t spring and I do bear when my bird isn’t cutting it. My build is about survival, not damage, and that’s what I do. But I run the encounter for how it needs to be run and I follow my teams lead. I’m not changing up my spec, though. I play the way I want and unless I am specifically causing us to fail, which hasn’t happened in my experience, I don’t need someone telling me to play differently.
And yet nothing about that sayings that they can’t be available again. Being available for one month every year is still limited and prestigious. Being available for one month or requiring a months worth of gathering at a single node in your home instance to accomplish crafting is still limited and prestigious.
No offense but I hope to god they do NOT come back EVER… These should be something that people who have been around since the beginning have a priviledge of owning. They can go ahead and make new weapons but I will be EXTREMELY kittened off if they bring these back…
So only people who happened to be around and got extra lucky, or who bought them from someone who got extra lucky should be allowed to have them? Sorry, but go be kittened off in your special “none for you all for me” elitist corner. I was here for Halloween last year. I did all the events and got 100% on the achievements, but I didn’t please the RNG gods and was not willing to spend the gold to buy a skin so I couldn’t get them. So should I not get the chance again to make good on that just because you happened to be lucky? That is a big honking load of bullkitten right there.
and again… this isn’t elitism… this is working my tail off farming BLC keys in order to open TONS of chests and get the skins that we were told would be gone FOREVER after Halloween ended.
I’ll stop you right there because after this nothing you have to say it relevant. It IS Elitism. It’s the definition of elitism. I have something because I was able to get it when it was there, you weren’t so you cannot have it. That is elitism.
If you told me that you worked your kitten off by running the Halloween dungeon twenty times a day each day, ran the clocktower twenty times a day each day, opened one hundred doors each day, and got high score in lunatics labyrinth each day because that was the minimum amount of effort required to get one skin, then your “work” would have merit. “I worked to farm keys to have an exceedingly rare chance to get something through RNG,” means absolutely kitten. You didn’t do any work. You got lucky. Your luck doesn’t warrant you any worth over anyone else nor does it entitle you to keep that same thing out of the hands of anyone new. You didn’t do anything at all to get it and as such deserve nothing for having it.
I have one of every class at 80 in full exotics and some with full Ascended. Hell, I even remade my Ranger character into a Thief, but I’ve kept both in the hope Ranger will get better someday.
With that said, I’ve positioned myself ready to jump this train and abandon my Ranger forever. This ride sucks. :\
This is as relevant as if I said I have one of every character but Mesmer is just crap and I am ready to drop it. The truth is, I don’t have a Mesmer because I can’t stand the class. I’ve gotten behind all the other classes and have a good time. I don’t play a Mesmer, though, cause I don’t like it. If you don’t like the class don’t play the class, that doesn’t make the class bad though. It just makes it bad for you.
I’m sure if I want long enough they’ll make a Vitality, Power, Healing Power set.
you can still go for vitality.
let me see if i can find my trusty old clerics build. You’d be surprised i think.
There is Soldier or Sentinel which drops healing for vitality, but since it’s toughness I’m looking to drop that’s not great. I want huge healing power. Otherwise there is Magi which replaces power and toughness for precision and vitality. This might be worth it, but it seems to me that if I’m not pushing precision hard it’s not worth it to push at all.
i dont have ascended weapons yet, and only exotic celestial earrings, but the rest of that set, i do have. it can handle 1v2 pretty ok, although, not 2 thieves at once, then again, no class can do that.
Is that right for the infusions? I was under the impression that because they’re unique you couldn’t have two of the same infusion and same type of jewelry. So if you were sporting cleric ring and celestial ring, then cleric accessory and celestial you could make them both defensive, but for them to be the same one would have to be defensive and the other offensive.
I avoid PvP, so I don’t really concern myself with what I can kill in WvW. What I currently have is:

I also don’t have ascended weapons and I accounted for my disinterest in spending ectos for accessories.

^^2800 armor ranger^^w
2800 is too much, you want 2750 and not a point more… rest goes into vitality. Learn to build your gear.
Why is that?
its because thanks to this wonderful thing called math, one can calculate that 2750 armor is equal to 33.33% damage reduction. This means you get the best possible protection given the least amount of armor. That again means you can spend your remaining gear points on something important, like high vitality and healing.
Basically, for the new invincible bunker build, you want a healthy mix of Dire and Shaman gear. to achieve massive condition damage, HP and healing, along with a healthy dose of physical tanking. You youngsters really need to learn how to play a MMO. Numbers does indeed rule the game, and the most desirable numbers, are not the ones produced by your burst attacks. It is the ones you don’t see.
Unfortunately when building for power and healing there isn’t anything that supports vitality instead of toughness.
Barrage, as I’ve said many times, isn’t a viable skill at the moment. Splitting it up a bit, reducing number or hits to 3 and base cooldown to 7 seconds, with cast time of 1/2 sec cast time, buffing awhile making it a bit better when scaling with power would be such a large step in right direction
I’d love for cast time to be reduces but I don’t want to see anything else change on it. I don’t know what you’re using it for, but there’s more to the game then whatever that is.
I love, “I’m faster than a centaur,” during the Ulgoth chain.

I don’t normally complain on the forums, however when I do, I do it about Rangers.

I’m unclear what this has to do with the Ranger class.
However, again, that isn’t how I like to play this game or what I was led to believe when I made a Ranger.
Sorry, that just means you’re going about class selection wrong. If you were led to believe something other than what you experienced then obviously the information was faulty. If you played the class the way you want to play in the environment you wanted to play and did not enjoy it, then you’re not playing the right class. It isn’t a problem with the class it is a disconnect between the class and you. You should not be playing a Ranger because the Ranger does not jive with your expectations nor intentions. Don’t try to force a round peg into the triangle slot, it won’t fit. Go find your triangle.
Yes, but I was forced to find that Triangle, because the class I thought was correct due to the game description was in fact in correct. And Yes, it fits my play style better, I can now play a Long Bow and be effective, sorry, MORE effective than the Ranger class. Sadly the difference is striking. For the life of me I can not figure how OP in comparison the LB is for another class when put up against the Ranger LB.
Why?
Because they’re entirely different classes with entirely different build designs. Warriors are supposed to be damage beasts. Rangers aren’t designed with that in mind. Personally I did not enjoy longbow on my warrior, but I love it on my Ranger. I’m all about Barrage.
I hardly call normal the fact that i have to wait 5-20 seconds after pressing the skill for wolf’s fear to actually be casted.
That’s not AI, that’s a buggy interface. AI is when your wolf runs up to a target, stops and lets the target move away from it, then attacks and misses. AI is the stuff it does outside of your controlling it. F2 should be interrupting whatever the AI is doing and immediately enacting your attack, like if you were charging up a power or channeling a power then hit another attack before it finished. Instead it seems to be queuing the power in some nonsensical way.
Though I will accept that the AI often conflicts with the interface, but that’s mainly because the interface was tacked on after the fact. Once upon a time we had absolutely no control over our pets at all. Gradually they gave us more control, but they didn’t implement that control is a way that necessarily makes sense. Like when your pet gets hit by an attack and runs after its attacker. You hit F3 to make it stop and return to you, then as soon as it gets back to you it turns right around and attacks again even though it should have lost all agro as a result of F3.
The only thing ranger needs is NORMAL pet AI, not that mess it is now. And all classes are pretty easy to learn if you want to, including ranger. Apparently many people want to be good without trying hard.
Actually, the pets already have NORMAL AI. What you want is better AI than what all the other NPCs in the game have.

I think he was being facetious.

I think no one cares about five people giving up on anything in this game. I think that oct 15 will come and go like every other patch has for me without any changes to my enjoyment of nor how I play my main. If they go through the changes to duration stacking on boons and conditions it may change how I play my condition ranger and retaliation guardian, but for my main I’m taking this patch as a buff because they’re increasing stacks of vulnerable on maul and increasing it’s burst damage.
I’d really like to fight some dragons…
Any kind of AoE knockback in auto-attack is just overpowered.
So the catapult is overpowered then? And the trebuchet! Also as I mentioned it would be a new spell with more cooldown than the normal attack. I like the idea of firing an explosive round as suggested above. Kinda helps with the hitting moving targets and lack of CC.
Catapults and Trebuchets are more expensive and take more salvage. So you’re putting in more work to get better results.
I do agree that just having one power that is specifically a knockback would be better than nothing. I still think it should be piercing, but making it a line attack would be the same thing.
I can definitely get behind some of these concepts. I do like trenchcoats, but that is only because my main wears one and it’s right on him. It’s not so right for my theif, my nor my engineer, so it would be nice to have something else out there for medium armor. The suit look is pretty nice too.
Honestly I’m not entirely sure why medium armor has different pants since almost no coats let you see the pants.
