You don’t like men being treated the way women have been for decades in most media and video games, you don’t like the fact GW2 favors portraying women in important roles rather than men, and you think this is a issue that needs to be fixed or “balanced”?

You’re basically saying:
male dominated = bad
female dominated = good

Stop being petty and wanting “revenge” for past gender inequality.
The solution to sexism is not sexism in the other direction, it’s equality.

Funny thing about equality. In order for it to exist this debate needs to not matter. Because if there was equality no one would care. I choose to treat men and women equally, as such the quantities of men or women makes no difference to me, only the quality of them.

To me Kiel was an over reaching under qualified person and didn’t deserve what she got (from the players) compared to Gnashblade. Not because she was female but because she didn’t make sense where he did. Marjory, though, is a different story entirely and I very much enjoy her taking a central role. I don’t know anything about Kashmeer, nor where she comes from, but Faren is delightful in how foppish he is. He’s impossible to hate because he’s a buffoon, but a well meaning one.

I still subscribe to the idea that Sylvari are elves and all elves are chicks, so Trehearn, Scarlet, Caithe, it makes no difference if they’re male or female they’re Sylvari so they’re girls.

Brahaam and Roxx, Brahaam is teenager, the fact that he’s bigger than you means nothing. He’s a Norn, he’s tough, straight forward and dumb as rocks. That’s what Norn are. An unlimited number of examples to the contrary doesn’t change it. He’s also Eir’s son and as such has a huge amount that he needs to prove just to represent that. As such he doesn’t really have time to cope with situations, he needs to act in order to solidify his legend and become more than just his mother’s son. Roxx, on the other hand, is a Charr and Charr are not dumb by any stretch of the imagination. She’s also young, though, and a gladium in a society where that’s a serious stigma so she is ultimately also unsure of herself. The way they are is not so much a stereotype as it is a proper representation of who and what they should be based on their backstory.

Agree with the OP, its a terrible daily, takes for too long for a daily. You after do 20 offshoot spore events to complete it, so its 4x as long as the other daily, daily event completer where you do 5 events.

Should be 5 or 10 spores.

Also, YES THEY HAVE NERFED SPORE DROP RATE, shock, horror. I was getting 10-15 after completing 1 toxic offshoot event first night from some of the events, now its 3-5.

Way to not read the thread and then spout completely misinformed nonsense. You are not farming spores. The Daily has nothing to do with spores. The daily is for spore nodes. It is for each time you use a harvesting tool on a spore node. The outcome of that harvest is inconsequential to the Daily. Multiple spore nodes occasionally spawn inside an offshoot event, but there are also clumps of spore nodes all about the kessex hills map. Just walk around the lake and look for clumps of plant nodes on your mini map. Every time you see a clump, rather than just a single node, that is a clump of spores. I know of a clump north of Marjory, then another north east of there. One to the north of the lake near the fort and bandits. One to the east of the lake north of the harbor village. One to the south where the Ettins and Hylek are. It’s really very easy to complete this. That is a minimum of 20 right there.

Instead of complaining about something you don’t understand, why not actually make an attempt to educate yourself and figure out how to do it easier?

You can find them even if an event is not active. They just show up near the current event spots usually. This daily is easier than the regular daily gather to be honest.

It also counts toward the daily gather, so you get two dailies for the work of one.

If you bothered to read the posts, you would likely have no trouble working out what the problem is.

Lack of male heroes in the Living Story arc.

Ok, how about this. I’m unclear why this is a problem. Does that explain my position a bit better?

The only post that I have seen expressing an understanding of the problem have been absurdly chauvinistic and repugnant. Why does it matter if they’re guys or girls or raccoons? How does this effect anyone at all in the world such that it warrants being complained about by anyone?

Mask of the Night answer to armor types

So I got the Mask of the Night last night on my Ranger. This item is very interesting and very different than any other skin in the game. Rather than applying the skin of the mask to the stats of another item it takes the stats of another item onto its skin. What is the significance of this difference? Apparently it can take the stats of any armor value. The Mask is very obviously light armor, but I as a medium armor user am still able to apply it to my big floppy hat. I didn’t, but I could if I wanted.

This means that ANet has just implemented a way for people who want to wear an armor type outside of their class to have that ability. The question simply becomes, how far will they go with this.

The aetherblades had the most elaborate espionage based attack as well as a hidden base. Yes, they got found out, but that’s because the bad guys are never as good as the good guys.

As for the scholarly aspects of the Toxic Alliance, all you need to do is talk to the Priory people around Marjory to understand that the Krait are all about mysticism, history, mathematics, and the things that the Priory above all other orders would respect.

I’m not coming up with this and claiming it as my own. Others have already made the initial notice of 3 alliances and 3 orders, but I want to take this to the next step that I haven’t seen.

Three alliances: Molten Alliance, Aetherblades and Toxic Alliance. The Molten Alliance is mostly muscle, so the Vigil. The Aetherblades are crafty, so the Whispers. The Toxic Alliance is scholarly, so the Priory. All led by a single Sylvari no one likes, so Trehern. Thus we have the Anti-Pact.

The question becomes what is the purpose of the Anti-Pact. The Pact was formed to kill dragons. Is the Anti-Pact intended to raise them up?

Becoming a Member of Another Culture

I’ve never liked the exclusivity of cultural armor. I understand the concept was that they are designed with only a single race in mind so they could fit it perfectly to that race and not have to worry about clipping on any other races. I just don’t care, I would like to see them expanded, mostly because I really like a lot of the norn gear better than what’s available other places, but I don’t like the norn themselves.

How to make Condition Damage viable in PvE

I love how the first thing you say is that you hope to start this right, and the first thing you do is wrong because you posed this suggestion as a question post, which it is not.

I have at least three different condition characters and none of them have had any trouble competing in PvE and getting whatever rewards they deserve, including elite bags from champions.

They’re not going to do it. It’s been a year.

Kal, Ranger as a profession shouldn’t be tied to clunky, broken AIs. We should have a choice to use a bow without being a short-range stealth class or a heavy-armor class that is literally disallowed from using lighter armor.

I agree, we shouldn’t be stuck with clunky AI. They should fix the pets, so they function more consistently and effectively across the board. This has nothing to do with perma-stowing, nor should it.

Why would the krait, a race from the ocean, be working with an elder dragon from a jungle. If you follow the lore behind the krait, quaggan and hylek it becomes clear that the krait didn’t used to be a problem. Something from deep in the ocean (Deep Sea Dragon) pushed them out of their home into the other aquatic civilizations and eventually to Tyria. If a dragon made them run away from where they lived why would they be working with an entirely different one? If they were going to work with any Dragons it would be DSD. I’m pretty sure they’re connected to something else entirely unrelated to dragons.

Risen Krait.

Does not connect in a meaningful way with the Krait in Kessex Hills who are just normal every day Krait, and not connected to an Elder Dragon.

Does glowing toxic green Krait look normal to you?

Ok, so lets look at some Dragon Minions, shall we? Risen: Undead walking corpses, all falling apart. Most similar to normal. Icebrood: bulging with ice crystals, entirely different color pallet and for some entirely different physical form. Some Icebrood norn look more like oakhearts. Destroyers: made of magma, with flowing lava, complete different color pallet. Branded: completely crystalized, entirely different color pallet.

Glowing green is just an indication of magic, not Elder Dragon power. Most likely their Abyssal lords doing something. If they were connected to Mordremoth they wouldn’t just be glowing green, they would be turned fully into some sort of plant creature.

Also, MY point was that the Krait currently living in Kessex hills are their own. There is no reason to indicate, including glowing green, that would reasonably connect them to an Elder Dragon. I’ll go even further to say that Risen aren’t an indication of any race consorting with Elder Dragons, especially when the only Krait Dragon Minions are Risen, since ALL Risen are taken after death, not before.

I hope the tower will bring a giant tower and krait… honestly I don’t. Krait are probably my least favorite mob after mummies. It used to be just krait, but I really really dislike how much CC a group of mummies can throw around, it’s not fun. Once Halloween is over it’ll just be krait again, though.

Makes me feel like I’m running around in Orr before they nerfed the amount of mobs there. Groups of mummies make me yell at my computer.

Makes me feel like I’m a pinball.

Outside is a long, difficult JP. Inside is a 5-person dungeon route. Both lead to the top floor, with a nice reward.

if it was something like what you discribe and reward was the same for both I’d rage though sorry, doing a JP in my view is not something that should reward the same as doing dungeon content, but my opinion is obviously biased

I agree, but I would not be discontent to have the dungeon deposit you to the top of the tower where you can freely get the same reward chest as the JP, but fully separated from the rewards you got while doing the dungeon.

So if you go the JP route you only get the chest. If you go the dungeon route it takes longer, is harder, but you get dungeon rewards AND the chest at the top.

I hope yes, partly but sometimes Anet makes me angry, as they did with Clocktower. I couldnt finish it last year but I know that you could farm chest but now people who run around map using auto-attack are getting more rewarded than those who use SKILL and beat hardest JP in the game.

I’m not clear what the aetherbase has to do with what you’re talking about. Because clearly that is the hardest JP in the game right now. Clocktower is pretty straight forward, like the Southsun steam vents.

Not really, aetherbase is just loooong and you die if you fall, but in CT you have time limit and every lost second is death.

Exactly, it’s really long, and the longer you run it the more likely you are to fall and die or at least have to start over. Clocktower is comparably short and you can do it without ever pausing, cause you have to. The time limit doesn’t make it harder when it is possible to easily complete it within the limit without ever stopping. The only penalty for falling is having to wait, no matter how far you fall from you never die. Also, because it’s PvP now even if you did somehow glitch and die you don’t have to worry about a long trek back to the puzzle, nor the incurred repair costs. Aetherbase is by far more difficult and punishing than the Clocktower.

Yes, I think the three events, the quaggan, the krait and the risen in the tunnel, should be the pre-events to tequatl. They’re already there, they happen all the time anyway, just link them up. It should also mean they don’t be taking place while tequatl is, which is annoying.

So that’s your first and second suggestions out. The third one can still be a thing on its own, but without any major story elements or prominence on your part.

Unbalanced Heal Skill

I’m just going to throw this out there. Where in the description does this say it heals at all? The fact that it’s a healing skill only means its in the 6 slot. That doesn’t mean it necessarily actually heals anyone, or else anyone other than you.

So… This way from where ever we are we can travel to the Mist, then to LA, do the ridiculously easy JP on the east side of the zone then WP to Arah for free. Farm farm farm, Mist, LA, sewer JP, WP back for free. Farm farm farm, Mist, LA, Pirate JP, WP back for free.

Thank you eccentric and redenaz. There are at least some people who aren’t 200% brain dead on these forums.

Not brain dead, just used to seeing posts like this. There were many posts far more stupid that actually were serious. The first thing I thought when I started reading was “oh look, one of these again”. Because there are threads like this every day..

Yeah, as stupid an nonsensical as it was it was not actually stupid, nor nonsensical, enough to be obvious satire without the an explanation. I just assumed you didn’t know anything about anything and decided to come here to vent. It’s not the first post like this I’ve seen, either, where the other ones were real.

I kind of have to agree with Leeroy. This is the suggestions forum, not the silly satir forums. If you want to make pointless fake suggestions do it in General. Here we’re actually, sort of, trying to work with the developers to improve the game. What is this even satir about? This isn’t really relevant to any standing concerns.

I don’t understand. I’m unaware of any skills or traits that only remove a single type of condition. As I understand it condition removal is universal. As such any class that is weak in condition removal is weak to conditions, regardless of what that condition is. Why should it matter if it’s torment?

Never seen peasants win at all, that’s why I stopped playing. As long as the ghosts aren’t afk the peasants don’t have much of a chance. Yay for lopsided mini games!

Hehhe, my first game I won as the last peasant standing by hiding in one spot the entire match. At least now I know how I got found, but it was too late to beat me.

It’s about doing it for FUN and not the rewards. Stop being so entitled. Can’t you just enjoy the Halloween event without constantly begging for money to be paid out for every corner you turn?

Jeez, what a bunch of whiny complainers.

So are you suggesting that you run all the jumping puzzles you enjoy most over and over and over all day? Even one more time after reaching the end? Really? I kind of doubt it. There are a lot of them, why run it again and again, what is the point? What is the point of running it even a second time after completing it.

I run jumping puzzles for the challenge. Once I’ve competed them, though, there is no more challenge. I know all the jumps I need to make. Therefore the only thing that gets me to come back, short of leading someone else through (which is entirely impossible in the CT) is the chest at the end, and the occasional daily or monthly.

Now I could just leave after finishing it the first time, but I tend to stick around in the CT for the same reason. I want the activity participation daily. But that means running up the tower another 4 times for nothing. I’m not actually competing with anyone and I’m not getting rewarded for it. I think I wouldn’t even question it if one of two things was true. That the chest stayed open, like it used to, or the other chests didn’t reset and give me access to their goodies again every other run.

What if one player is really lucky and lands all crit hits while the other play doesnt land any at all. How can you disprove this theory?

Because that’s how statistics work? With infinite attempts 5% will prove to be 5%. In 20 attempts 5% could prove to be 50% or more likely 0%. As such it’s a meaningless argument.

That’s an interesting solution, but what happens when you zone and forget to reactivate your mini and then deposit all? Until we have a minipet slot that will allow the mini to be out of our inventory and also active all the time, or turned off if we choose, it won’t be good enough.

My only real complaint is that I would like to see returning achievements that aren’t tied to story (such as Pumpkin Carving, or the Clocktower), in order to allow players who didn’t have the chance to complete them last year the chance to finish them again. I suspect that there are technical restrictions behind how achievements work that prevent them from doing this, however.

The SAB World 1 achievements returned with World 2 so that doesn’t seem like it would be the case.

If a warrior misses his adrenaline isn’t expended, but he has to wait out the cool down. If he hits he loses adrenaline and has to rebuild it.

If a Mesmer misses his power goes on cooldown but he has a bunch of others and can instantly recoup by summoning another phantom. If a Mesmer hits the only difference is that he applies some effect as well. Basically since a Mesmer is never without at least a Phantom available they’re never in the same situation as a Warrior, so they shouldn’t be balanced the same either. Which they’re not.

Warrior has 1 F-Skill for each weapon set and as far as I know, the F-skills dont share their cooldown.
So if one skill misses, the warrior has still adrenaline left and can use the other one, espacially due to the fact that a lot of builds only have reduced weapon swap.
So warrior has 2 F-skills with 10s cd each one.
Mes has 4 skills, most of them have cooldowns far beyond 10s.
Additionally, the skills have mostly completly different usage.
F1 is damage
F2 is condition dmg / far lower damage
F3 is mostly interrupt, or if traited in order to aplly vulnerability
F4 is protection

Warrior skills are usually all about dmg / stun. So if a warrior might miss with one of his F-skills, the F-skill of the second weapon set might still to very well.
If a shatter Mesmer misses with F1, he might be able to use F2, but thats vary less effective.

I still don’t see what you’re point is. They’re different classes with entirely unrelated mechanics. If a thief uses steal but doesn’t actually have a target, or reach the target, it goes on cooldown without granting any ability. That’s how the skill works. If a Ranger’s mechanic dies he can swap it, but if that ones dies too he’s on a minute cooldown from when he originally swapped, even if he’s not in combat anymore.

Also, yes they do share a cooldown because the Warrior only has one F1 skill. The result of that skill swaps between weapon sets, but the whole mechanic doesn’t reset because you swap weapons. You’re comparing apples to carburetors. The class mechanics are balanced for the class, not for other classes.

It’s fine. None of the JP are exactly hard, and they’re all cake once you’ve completed them once. Considering the way the clock tower has to work I wouldn’t want it to be pixel perfect jumps. That would be an unnecessary frustration.

Just a side note. It’s not just your home instance, but all the home instances will have this node for you.

At least that’s how it works for me and the Quartz node.

But you can only use it once in one instance for the day. So don’t be surprised if you go to one of the others and there’s nothing there.

I like your suggestion, but as for the deposit collectibles issue, this is one of the reasons invisible bags were created. Put your mini there and you won’t have to worry about it depositing.

You just have to open your inventory and activate the mini every single time you log in, or zone anywhere. Also Invisible bags were created to prevent you from accidentally selling something you didn’t want to. I suspect blocking out deposit was an after thought. Or possibly even a consequence of the code that blocked out vendors.

No no, I think you guys are missing the point of the post. Maybe i worded it weird. There’s no other incentive to do some of this crap is what I’m saying. The past few patches have had a focus around achievements as an incentive. I want another incentive, an armor set, an awesome weapon, a new game mode, something!

Oh… I do it cause it’s fun. I think if you’re doing it for achievements or any of those other things you’re kind of missing the point. The “reward” is supposed to be a bonus, not the purpose.

I’m not saying they’re not easy to do. I’m just saying I’m tired of doing them. Why are achievements the primary goal of the patches?

This is actually the first event where that is actually the case. In all the other events the “goal” if there was one was to get some pointless thing. In this one, though, in order to progress the story you actually have to complete the meta, because until you have the candy corn mini you can’t do the next story mission.

While it would be easier to just reply with something like “don’t like the achievements? Don’t go get them”, i’m inclined to agree with the one i think is the main reason of your post: the amount of repetitive tasks in achievements.

50 doors to close? 10 would have been enough. I remember dragon bash, how many pignatas was? 250 or 300? 30 would have been enough, more is just grinding..
We could go on and on with the list, but that’s it..

The game, especially with a 2 week release schedule, needs more variety in achievements, not just bigger numbers to achieve. Why no Lunatic Inquisition achievements in the living world? Why not a clocktower achievement, maybe a “hard mode” one? Why not a scavenger hunt like last year?

Twilight assault dungeon achievement category is a good example on how a living world category should be: many different tasks that require you to play a content once or twice, thrice max to get them.

Because all of those achievements are handled in the two dailies every day. The first pair of dailies was eating candy corn and doing lunatic inquisition. Yesterday was to beat the clock tower. Wednesday was five doors.

Also this will be going on until the middle of November, not just two weeks, as I understand it.
