Are you people being intentionally obtuse? Is this really hard to understand? I mean, you did actually do the whole story right? When exactly, during the entirety of your story were you alone?
“Well I did it solo, so the whole thing…”

No, you have never been alone. Every step of the way you had at least one NPC partner backing you up. Once you get to Claw Island you start having whole garrisons and squads backing you up. By the time you get to the Eye you have an army of old friends who you spent the whole story meeting and fighting along side.

So why is it so difficult to conceave of the final fight of your story being a solo instance with the entirety of the Pact army following you, just like you had the original of the Pact following you onto Claw Island?

You, not Destiny’s Edge fought your way through Orr. You, not Destiny’s Edge, killed the Mouth (possibly) and the Eye. So why, in the final moments should Destiny’s Edge get any place in the fight? What have they been doing this whole time? A whole lot of nothing useful and mostly being jerks to eachother. You are the Commander of the Pact, and it is you Trahern and the Pact that should be finishing the job.

No not really. I don’t think they ever intended Precursors to be the most expensive thing in the game. You have the “Gift of Fortune” which is supposed to represent earning a lot of gold, the precursor is what… Gift of SUPER fortune?

There is still the other 3 gifts you need to craft, they’re not exactly a walk in the park, even if the Precursor was taken out it would still take a long time and need a lot of effort to get the Legendary.

What you have now is the Legendary going up in price every single day, faster than anyone can earn gold, so people who crafted one early on get it for a handful of gold, but people who want to craft one now are basically priced out of the market.

If anything, it cheapens the value of a Legendary, since you know anyone who crafts one now basically had to spend a few hundred $ to get their precursor, they didn’t get it through playing the game.

I think it’s possible to make a precursor expensive without leaving it up to the Trade Post to decide how much you pay. What if they just cost 100G from a vendor?

You missed the point entirely. The way to get Precursers is not designed to be BLTC at all. The fact that they are available there is completely beside the point.

You can already see Commander Icon if you target the character, just like you can see attenuements if you target an Ele.
But the dynamic events on Commander kill is a pretty awesome idea ahah, even tho it seems pretty laggy for the commander, imagine, as soon as you turn badge on, you become a mobile dynamic event :S

This isn’t about being able to see that they’re a commender by clicking through each person in the zerg until you find him. This about seeing a floating icon over their head when they’re close enough, just like all of the commander’s allies see as a matter of course. Preferably in red.

I’m a little disturbed by how far the GW2 community is willing to feed trolls on this forum. This is a troll post. It offer nothing but fuel for angry and contemptive responses. When fed it then responds with more inflamitory material that offers nothing in the way of actual substance.

On a side note for Callynn and those like him/her, how do you quit a game you’re not subscribing to? You own the game. You have an account. It takes nothing else to play it. You can stop playing, but since at an moment, without putting in any extra effort, you can immediately return to it for any reason can it really be said that you quit?

Quitting was meaningful to the old subscription model because it meant a sudden cease of revenue. But since ANet will be getting no less from you whether you play the game or don’t, does it really matter one way or the other?

When you say “went to sell it” did you mean vendor, or BLTC? Because even if the item was soulbound you can still sell it to a vendor. If the item was a karma purchase, though, you can’t sell those to vendors.

All items that are soulbound have a line at the bottem of the item description that says soulbound. If it doesn’t say that it’s not actually soulbound.

Wow… That is a LOT of work just to kill some mobs. As a Ranger myself I don’t see it. My favored weapon is Longbow and I still don’t see it. There isn’t anything outside a huge mob of mobs or some Champions that can actually do enough damage to me to warrant that amount of effort in a fight. You just start shooting them. I don’t even use traps, or any of that. If I need to get serious I whip out my greatsword and jump into the middle of them.

Who cares if they hit me, I regen and troll unguent is extremely strong. I’m very hard to kill. In lower level zones it’s even less of a concern. Just wade into them and have at it. All of this, if you get hit you’re doing it wrong, is rediculous. I take tons of damage, I just heal through it.

Dodge wasn’t even in todays anyway. So far the objective that has given me the most trouble was kill 5 Veterans. I expected it to be a snap, but I had a hell of a time actually finding them, go figure.

My suggest is, do more events. You get way more mobs in events then just wondering around, and more opportunities to evade or whatever. And guess what, you have to do 5 of them anyway just to complete the daily, so it’s not like you’re doing extra work.

So what your saying is that the only reward in the game is how much money you acquire? The reason you should be doing Fractals is because they’re exceptionally fun. Barring that, how about because as of level 10 you can start earning Ascended gear?

If that’s still not good enough, don’t sell the rare quality gear you get in fractals and break them down for Ectoplasm. Then you will really start making some cash. I highly recommend avoiding using black lion salvage kits for anything other than harvesting ectoplasm from level 70+ rares.

It’s very simple, just because it optimizes earning does NOT, in fact, make it a requirement. I will admit that I refuse to use Karma consumables unless I’m heavily boosted, but that’s a choice I make. If I need Karma right now I can just chug from jugs, I just like to see how much karma I can actually make at once.

“Visit a Laurel Vendor”? Really? What next? “Open the Gem store window”?

People will just complain about anything, won’t they? Was this too difficult? It took you out of stride? The point was to get people in touch with the Laurel Vendor since, amazingly, not everyone actually pays attention to every detail or even reads the patch notes. It’s not like it said, buy something from a Laurel Vendor.

These aren’t meant to be earth shattering projects. They’re just little nothing objectives that you may have done anyway. I know I’ve checked out the vendor each day anyway.

To gain different buffs. Perhaps they want their Legendary to have cleric stats or Berzerker, or whatever. With this change it means the the only things that matter for power are the level of the item it’s going into and the quality of the higher of the two.

To answer the question, though, there shouldn’t be any issue. If it’s Legendary it will automatically be whatever quality legendary is. When there are Ascended weapons Legendary will automatically be at that level so it will too.

People jump through hoops for Legendaries to show off that they successfully jumped through hoops. People jump through hoops for Ascended items to have ascended quality gear. They jump through hoops for a variety of ascended items that don’t even show up on their characters. The fact that one of those hoops also give them a cool backslot that would otherwise not appear doesn’t change the fact that they’re getting ascended gear and those hoops are a representation of the power of the item.

I feel that people should continue to jump through hoops to get the gear quality. I just think that those of us who only want a purely cosmetic aspect of it, an aspect that is and should be extremely mundane considering the actual appearance of the item, shouldn’t have to.

People would still be “forced” to do the maximum to get the maximum reward, because if they did less they’d be gipping themselves. I think one daily for one reward is enough.

He’s asking for more ways to get skins for lesser back items without having to grind for the best in slot just to gain the look. This seems pretty reasonable to me. The Quiver is simultaneously awesome and mundane. It’s just a lame quiver, but since it was not even a hint of an option until now it’s extra ordinary. I very much want one as well, but I don’t care about having an Ascended item, I just want a quiver for my Ranger. I don’t want to put in the expense, time and effort necessary to make a best in slot item, I just want to have something I can paste over my currently slotted item which doesn’t even have an appearance.

The only problem with this is that it would “force” people to do the hardcore dailies in order to get the laurel. See the reason people are having problems with this is that they have a very skewed idea of how a reward system should work. There is a reward, and because there is a reward they want it. They just don’t want to have to actually do something to get the reward.

Therefore if the hardcore daily also rewarded them with the reward they want they would obviously be “forced” to do it in order to get the reward they “need.”

My Idea for this was to make them work like the class abilities filling slots F5-F8, but also work like skills, in that you click on the slot and pick the item from your inventory, but can only do this while out of combat.

I know it’s come up, but the dodge daily only counts evade. Why this is significant is because dodge is not the only way to evade. Some classes have it built in to attacks. My Ranger got the dodge daily done by fighting things with two handed sword. The third attack in power 1 is evade. Thief dagger/dagger gets evade in power 3, and underwater spear power 5. It is also possible, though I didn’t test it, that blocking also counts which opens up even more posibilities. You don’t have to have good timing, just learn how the game works and what combinations work.

Every single one of my characters with access to this trait gets this trait as a matter of course. It is extremely useful for getting around since it means you can fall for nearly twice the standard distance without dying.

One Free World Transfer

Which is why they implemented guesting. Instead of having to make a whole new character that may not be able to play with them where they want to play, and without having to pay anything at all to play with them, you can guest over to their server and interact at your leisure. The only thing you can’t do is play competatively in their WvW, because that would mess up their numbers.

I think it would be best if legendary weapons offered a new elite skill. This way it’s not “game changing” and people wouldn’t go off about how OP someone is with legendary. It would still be an advantage, but one that is minimal and with elite cool down.

If devs read this, i want a legendary staff elite that lets me summon a phantasmal dragon!

To accomodate both sides, the legendary could unlock a special unique skill for all teirs. This way you would have the choice to use them or not use them as you please. The idea would be for them to be equivilent to all other skills at that teir, but be unique to the legendary you’re weilding.

I really am shocked that you think anet wont change there game to accomadate us… did gw1 have 400 plus skills when it released ?

more problematic than that is that the hope is so forlorn now that you dont beleive anet will listebn to our suggestions because the way the game is now is the way it will stay… Or is it just tio more skills that your against? or is it just to diff skills forlegerndary and named?

No, I am absolutely certain that ANet will accomodate player feedback when it’s good. This one just isn’t.

The problem, as has been stated twice now, is working for an item to look cool while playing the way you want to play, only to have that item suddenly changing the way you want to play because it doesn’t play as expected. It’s really very simple. It’s designed to have the best stats and have a unique appearance. It’s not meant to be Calenbolg and completely change the way you play the game.

Why would you lose the transmute? You may have to transmute it again, but that’s your choice for wanting that look. Each character can earn a finite number of transmutation stone, but ultimately they should be more than enough to accomodate any characters appearance needs.

I don’t want to disable it, but I would like the ability to change the number of things up there that can be maximized. Currently it’s 2, with the addition of daily/monthly, PvP and then a couple of simultaneous events occuring, it’s very hard to get what I want maximized to stay maximized.

Now who’s missing the point. They are in game FOR FOTM. Interesting point, I don’t run FOTM. I’m only to level 5, so I don’t even need agony protection yet. What I am is the guy who’s been accumulating karma for aged and has enough to easily buy all the ascended gear I could even need if it suddenly became available. I’m that guy and still I’m telling you it’s a bad idea.

My POINT was, how exactly is anyone being screwed over? The problem here is not Laurels, nor what used what kind of currency. The problem is that Ascended gear should be on Fractal vendors first, and available anywhere else later. Ascended gear is for Fractal players. That is why it exists. To allow Fractal players to survive in tougher fractals. Until Agony becomes a thing outside of Fractals Ascended gear really isn’t necessary in any way, and no one is losing out by being unable to acquire them easily.

Unique Skills for Legendary and Named Weapons

You’re kidding, right? First off, if it has a different power set that makes it a different weapon, so it couldn’t be transmuted. Second off, we’ll assume that’s not the case, where does the powerset reside? Is it in the look of the weapon, because I obviously want the look of the weapon, how else would anyone know I had it? Is it in the stats of the weapon, because I obviously want to keep those too since they’re best in slot stats as well… I’m running out of things to transmute away.

Ok, so I don’t know how I missed this thread when I first posted my ideas, but since this appears to be the actual place for it, here goes.

Alright, so I’ve had many ideas but the same few keep coming to mind and I’d like to put them down for your interest, criticism and approval.

First, Ease of Use, and this is a biggy, one that I’m sure comes up all the time, but for that same reason it tops my list. The ability to preview from the Black Lion Trading Company. Included in this would be the ability to paste an item from BLTC to the chat window to potentially discuss the item with friends and guildies. I’m at a point in the game where the stats of an item are not a particular concern to me, what I’m interested in is what the item actually looks like when equiped. I’m not interest in spending several gold, or worse the ever growing prices on some of the dyes without knowing perfectly that I’m about to get an item I actually want to use.

Second, Character Customization, this is actually something that I came up with as an off shoot of what will be my third suggestion. A slot in the hero panes character sheet for a mini pet. You can only have one minipet active at a time, but in order to have that mini pet active it has to be wasting a slot in your inventory and whenever you zone you have to reactivate it. Concidering that minipets serve no tactical purpose, why not allow us to slot them? Then they don’t waste a space in our inventory and whenever we zone they would automatically be activated again, so we would never forget that we’re showing something off.

Third, Mechanics, I originally came up with this one as a quick way to reactivate a minipet. It then expanded and then I came up with the obviouslly better solution for minipets that I just described. I would like, what I will call, a utility belt. There are a remarkably large number of consumables in the game, from items we can buy from vendors, to foods we can make, to boosters we can acquire, and probably more. Just like F1-F4 are used for class specific features I would like to make use of F5-F8 for belt items. Basically inventory items that would be linked to one of the four slots, possibly done like skills are slotted in 6-0, so it could only be done while not in combat. The item would remain in the inventory but would become accessible on the fly ingame, rather than having to open the inventory, blocking the screen, and using the item then closing the inventory and returning to the action. I have any number of items that I would love to use in combat that I don’t even think about until after I don’t even need them anymore because out of sight out of mind.

Ascended gear is for fractals. Yes, it is best in slot, but who cares? Really? In a dungeon what does it really matter if you have ascended gear, or exotic gear, or rare or gasp masterwork. You don’t even need gear that’s your proper level. As long as you know how to play and your group can play too you can do it. So why should dungeon playing be able to earn them?

In WvW it makes even less difference unless you happen to be caught out alone by someone else who’s alone the fights are generally pretty straight forward and your specific gear makeup isn’t terribly important. So why should PvPers be able to earn them?

The rest of the game is absolutle no difficulty until you get to Orr and even then, only a little. You don’t need best in anything, so why should “casuals” be able to earn them?

Personally I would say they don’t really have any place in the laurel vendor at all, but I guess this is to allow casual players the opportunity to eventually work themselves up to being able to do some higher level fractal work without actually having to do the fractals to get there.

Should the Ascended items that are not immediately available to fractal players be on the fractal vendors? Yes, yes they should, that is an oversight. But the solution is not to make it so any random person who’s been accumulating karma forever can just pick them up for nothing.

We need Giants

I would also add that changing the enemy type of Risen Giants from “risen” to “giant” would handily solve this problem, and give people another reason to be in Orr.

I would like to see all risen that are not human be classified under the alternate type. The same goes for the other dragon’s minions as well. It makes it very annoying to kill 15 different kinds of things only to see your daily variety change by 1 because they were all undead, or crystals or ice minions.

Daily/Monthly Laurel system not alt friendly

The main fault in the reasoning here is the expectation that Laurels is/will be the only way to acquire these Ascended items. They won’t, they’re just how these specific ones are currently acquirable to allow for a different play style to acquire them.

Also, as has been stated laurels will become available through other means, as such it’s perfectly reasonable.

I personally have no interest in doing dailies on each character. I usually have enough time each day to do them once in the first place, so I don’t want to be forced to do them on a specific character. I want to play whoever and however I like and be able to accomplish just like those that have all the time in the world.

Legendaries Appearance

Predator is pretty kitten, but the things is, why would there be two Greatswords of all things and not two of anything else. I have the feeling there are more legendaries than what is found there, there almost has to be.

If there were going to be two it should be daggers or pistols since they’re the only things in the game that any class can actually hold two of simultaneously.

Superior Sigils on dual wield, how do they work?

Your shield is a weapon. It’s not armor. As such it would work the same as it would with a dagger or focus or pistol, it makes no difference.

The thing to test would be two stacking bonus sigils, like corruption and bloodlust. I know that if you have two of the same only one of them will have an effect, but if you have two different ones they should not interfere with eachother.

A jumping puzzle area

I don’t know why either, but are you aware that there is a jumping puzzle in every single zone in the game, including the WvWvW zones? They come in a wide variety of styles and all end with an acheivement and a chest at the end.

Ranger Pet's

In WoW, there was a similar problem for a very long time. The fix? Make all pets attack the back of enemies unless it was a solo encounter. So if you were fighting a boss, your pet was always on the butt of the boss. This keeps them out of harms way, but with the amount of AoE bosses can dish out, it doesn’t make your pet completely invulnerable. Also, pet special abilities should be Auto Cast, having to micro manage one skill that a lot of times doesn’t even work till you spam the skill about five times is just not efficient at all.

The problem is, this doesn’t work for most rangers who are ranged. My pet is my tank. His purpose is to keep the attention of the mob so I don’t need to be near it. Also, this wouldn’t work since the event that is the problem is specifically the solo encounter. Normal mobs and Veterans aren’t an issue to keep my pets up, it’s the bosses that can quite litterally kill my pet in one shot that are the problem.

The issue with F2 command, I believe, is an issue with queuing. You can’t queue powers and unless the power is channeled, which pet standard powers do not seem to be, or your primary attack it can’t be interrupted by other powers. Therefore if your pet is trying to do a different power when you hit F2 nothing happens. What they need is some sort of queue, so that when you hit F2 it sticks the power at the end of the sequence so that as soon as it finishes doing whatever it was doing it immediately does F2.

Can we also make it so that Ranger pets keep their names? It’s frustrating when you name your Pig Sir Francis Bacon, but the next time he’s summoned, he’s just Juvenile Pig once more.

THIS x 1000 please! It’s a quality of life issue but very annoying. I realize this is probably far down on the list of things to fix, though.

I agree. This breaks immersion so much. I love making my pets personal and disappearing pet names is bad. Also, in the pet management screen, you should see all your pets by their pet names, not “Juvenile” whatever.

I came to this forum for this issue specifically. I don’t change up my pets now because I don’t want to have to remember their names each time I bring them out again.

Also, I suspect the labeling in the management screen may be a symptom of the problem. It’s displaying the name that it has for them, which ends up being the name they have when you select them, rather than the name you want them to have.

I have discussed this will many people and some say pets are just a bonus and we don’t need them to keep our dps up and others say ranger’s dps has alot to do with the addition of pet dps. I however don’t really care either way other than I feel a rangers pet being dead for majority of boss fight mechanics is a broken system and I feel bad for the ranger’s that enjoy playing with the beast mastery trait tree considering their pets are dead.
A couple fixes to the above issue i can think of is-

  • Make it so pets do an automatic dodge roll when you dodge roll.
  • (this fix is drastic but I personally would love to see it done and it was like this in GW1 in a sense) Change out or add a trait/skill/toggle that allows the ranger to remove the requirement of pets. If such a thing would happen i wouldn’t be opposed to changing the way beast-mastery trait works and making it so you can go pet-less like a lone-ranger type trait tree.

I would like to see an option added to turn on or off pets however I am not sure what i would like to see for our F1-F4 abilities if pets are off. Some support or added kiting mechanics would be nice to make up for the loss of special pet skills.

Pets are the Ranger Mechanic. To be in a situation where Pets are unavailable is quite litterally to remove the class power. Every class has their thing that makes them unique and powerful and Pets are ours.

Now, that isn’t to say that adding in something, like Elementalists have attunments and Engineers have bundles, wouldn’t be well received. You can have your pets, OR you can do this. That could be cool too. Though I suspect that’s where the nonbeast master traits are intended to take your character.

Ultimately, I love the idea of your pet dodging when you dodge. That potentially fixes the problem, while also forcing Rangers to pay more attention to their pets. Do you want to complete that channel, or do you want to lose it and dodge so your pet doesn’t take the incoming hit? That’s fun gameplay.
