It’s okish. You don’t have CI, which is usually a pretty important staple of interrupt builds. You’ve also got basically zero defense. You’re relying completely on locking someone down offensively to stay alive.
You’ll have major problems with stability. You’ll also have major problems against other glassy roamers, thieves in particular.
Honestly, there’s a lot of good reasons you don’t see people running interrupt builds anymore. There’s a lot of stability, and a lot of builds/classes are able to just shrug off that sort of pressure.
Yeah I was messing around with this in pvp and wasn’t having much success haha. I guess i’ll give glass gs mesmer a try. My only worry is condi cleanse.
As the title says, i’m fairly new to mesmer. I mainly solo roam in WvW and really dislike the current meta condi build. I did watch a couple of old vids of an interrupt style build that looked quite fun though. How do you think this would perform? What would you do differently? Any other advice?
AA nerf I can kinda see
HGH nerf is totally uncalled for though. I just don’t understand why they thought this was necessary.
Ok, here’s a list of things that I would like to see tweaked/fixed based on my experience so far:
Hammer
-#3 skill is very buggy. The first leap will launch me away from the target sometimes. Other times all 3 leaps miss the target entirely.
-#5 cooldown seems pretty long for such a short duration stun. Reduced cooldown or increased stun duration would be nice.
-Autoattack damage seems pretty low. Maybe give it a small 10% buff and see how it does.
Gyros
-All of them need their movement speed increased significantly. Right now they lag behind you a good bit if you have any speed buffs on.
-Medic gyro…I don’t even know where to start with this. The toolbelt skill is absolutely fantastic. I feel like the skill itself needs to have a condi cleanse or increased healing though.
-Blast gyro seems to get lost half the time after throwing the tracker dart at a target.
-Function gyro needs to be sped up a bit.
Traits
-In addition to granting stability to you and your function gyro, maybe have stabilization core also reduce the cooldown of gyros.
-Expert examination does not proc with net turret’s overcharge.
-Impact savant is pretty lackluster, even for a minor trait. Consider increasing atleast the outgoing stun durations, and leave the incoming stun durations the same. Also please add daze durations as well, both incoming and outgoing.
That’s all I can think of right now. Might come back to add more.

Sounds like cele might work, but I think Soldier’s will still be the go-to choice.
I was thinking of trying Soldier’s and taking Inventions+Tools+Scrapper. Grabbing both Bunker Down and Rapid Regeneration in the scrapper line. With streamlined kits you should have a constant regen effect up 24/7, in addition to the actual regeneration boon. Only issue i’m having is what utilities would be best here. I was thinking grenade kit, tool kit, and either slick shoes or elixir gun. Slick shoes would be good for the on demand healing sig effect from Rapid Regeneration, but elixir gun gives more utility obviously. The elite is going to be a toss up for me. Mortar kit/Elixir X/Stealth gyro depending on the situation.
The changes to grenades don’t bother me nearly as much as the fact that 409 was moved into tools for whatever reason. If that stays, elixir builds will be forced into taking 2 lines and the GM traits in both in order to get the most out of elixirs, which, excluding S, are pretty lackluster.
Really hoping either they buff 409 to the heavens as compensation, or just leave it alone and move it back to alchemy where it belongs.

And I just noticed there is a TBD where Energy Conversion Matrix is supposed to be. I didn’t catch that the first time for whatever reason..Your suggestion is good, but honestly I would rather they just not change it at all.

Yeah I’ve noticed this too. Seems like it has a 50% chance of working or not. Which kinda sucks because I use it to reflect ranger pewpew, so when it doesn’t work it leaves me standing out in the open feeling awkward
Got mine Thursday night from a reward chest. I was farming nearly all day Tuesday and Wednesday, and…half of Thursday? So..I’d say 20+ hours of farming easy.
Med Kit TBD (Field Medic) – 20% reduced CD, med kit skills are 20% more effective (antidote now removes 2 condis instead of just 1). You revive allies faster while you are in med kit.
Alchemy GM TBD (Deadly Mixture) – basically what you suggested. 20% CD reduction and +20% dmg to EG and FT.
Elixir gun TBD (Volatile Concoctions) – Condition durations of all EG skills are increased by 20%. Acid bomb lasts longer and super elixir heals for an increased amount.
Tools Master (Quick Thinking) – all gadgets remove a boon when they hit. Gadgets grant quickness when activated.
Tools GM (Empowered Armor) – Gain aegis when struck (15 sec CD). While you have aegis, all of your attacks deal 30% more damage.
^(Alternative) Tools GM (Force Field) – You take X% less damage when you have a boon on you (Synergy with speedy kits).
GM Gadget trait (Stroke of Genius) – gadgets have reduced cooldowns. Gadgets off CD now passively apply boons at set intervals (basically what you suggested).

Blast finishers for DAYS
Overall my build got buffed massively. Favorite part was the change to juggernaut and the merge of speedy kits and kit refinement. Oh and the addition of 1000000 more blast finishers. Kind of sad that they didn’t do anything about the global CD of kit refinement though. I love that trait so much but the cooldown is killing me.

Nice work. Would you mind posting your build? I was trying to guess it last night just from watching the video. I didn’t notice empathic bond going off so i’m guessing either 6/6/2 or 6/6/0/2. Usual longbow traits, quickdraw, trap potency. Oh and trapper runes obviously. As far as gear goes, I’m guessing full zerk. You definitely have more guts than I do. I don’t set foot in wvw without empathic bond or SotF.

Just had a thought, maybe the bots will function like the elementalist’s rock barrier, granting you increased toughness for each bot that is active or something. Secondary skill might be something like a self destruct command, dealing damage to nearby enemies. In which case, the bots may actually be a weapon skill tied to the hammer, and not utilities.
While I don’t disagree with the OP, I almost want them to leave SD alone out of fear they’ll attach an ICD in order to “keep things balanced” and completely butcher nearly ever SD build in one fell swoop.
Either that or they’ll reduce the damage by 30% to compensate. And no, that joke is never going anywhere.

They have pretty much left static discharge alone since…forever. Part of me wishes for it to be fixed, the other part of me wants them to just continue leaving it alone.
I would love to see some comments from anet employees regarding this matter.
Are they considering something different to the current appearance and mechanic? Will this issue, requested in a big scale, addressed?

This is what I have encountered while roaming during the past few weeks. Might just be bad luck, who knows.
Engineers need it because pistol auto attack is worse than bad.

No one plays that… and you completly ignore your wrong statement that you can get a 12cd on each weapon skill. You even post it with cleric amulett and vampiric runes, things that no one uses. Its some squishy VERY WEIRD power build that is not meta at all in sPvP. No speedy kits etc… very strange trait selection no engi would use, ever. Also stealth and stability is not something you can spam with that build. Please play a class for some month bevor you post some weird kitten build to proof your point.
You seem to spread alot of engi hate in every thread you post because of some unexplained personal problem against the class.
I don’t like engineers so much be cause they are the obvious favorite class of the devs.

Update: Here we go… i wont bother to go into more detail mesh wise.. just proving a point in how a fuel tank could look appealing and STILL be neutral enough but whatever.. a-net doesnt give a kitten anyways.

1. Fix steal, as others have said
2. increase the damage bonus from pistol mastery to 20%
3. Decrease the cast time on unload
4. options for condi removal outside of SA (pain response is unreliable, doesn’t count)
5. remove traps or atleast cut the cooldowns by half, cooldowns are stupidly long right now considering the effects are almost useless
6. slightly increased radius on blackpowder smoke field
7. reduce the base cooldown of RFI, reduce the initiative gain to compensate
8. dancing dagger no longer bounces, instead it applies poison and a longer cripple
9. reduce the base cooldown of all venoms
10. IF NOTHING ELSE, PLEASE REMOVE LAST REFUGE, THAT TRAIT ANNOYS ME TO NO END
might actually be able to stand toe to toe with those pesky pu mesmers now
People are going to complain. Doesn’t matter what build or weaponset you use. I run a stealthless s/d evasion thief and still get complaints. I bet i could stand still and people would probably complain that i’m not dying fast enough.
There are those rare occasions where someone will actually be polite after a fight..but hey, it’s easier to blame your loss on another class rather than admit you made mistakes.
I would rather see flashing blades added as a grandmaster trait in the acro line. Something like when you successfully evade an attack it deals a certain amount of damage back to the target in the 130 range and blinds the attacker in the 240ish range.
OP? No more so than retaliation especially since it would only trigger on evade. The blind would also prevent excessive amounts of damage as the next attack would miss rather than being evaded. Plus it’s close combat range only for the damage.
I’ve never played Gw1, so i’m unfamiliar with how flashing blades works. However, I could see something like this working. Another possibility (I’m just throwing this out here) could be an elite signet of some kind.
Example:
Flashing Signet:
Signet passive: Every 10th attack causes blindness (blindness: 5s)
Signet active: Cause distortion for 2 seconds (Cooldown: 60s)
Although you might have issues with weaponsets like s/p and p/p which spam alot of attacks…
This is a l2p issue for 99.999% of the people in this game, seriously. Thief is right behind ranger as the easiest class to kill for me. If people would take a few minutes every day to get aquainted with the thief class and learn it’s ins and outs, I can guarantee nobody would be complaining anymore.
About the upcoming changes: Could be a nerf or a buff. If it’s a nerf then thieves will feel it the most. If it’s a buff then we will barely notice it (I’m looking at you, assassin’s reward.)

I just want the cast time reduced, stupid ridiculous.
Oh instant cast would make me so happy. You have no idea. Hell, i’d even settle for 1/4 sec cast time. I’d still be the happiest engi ever!
Either way I want to actually be able to play my engineer without feeling like a scrub playing the easiest and most OP profession.

if you want to have an advantage over the enemy, pick asura. their animations are the hardest to tell imo. also you’ll be wearing a less huge hobosack disgracing your screen.

Travelers. Frees up a utility slot for me so i don’t have to run that blasted signet of shadows.
It’s viable until you meet a Diamond Skin Ele, then you might as well waypoint.
Funny you should mention that. Literally like 2 minutes after the patch comes in, I run into a DS ele while soloing a camp. Had to run away cause I didn’t have enough power to punch through DS. The measly damage I was dealing, he just healed right away to keep his health above the threshold.
Thanks for sharing your build. I’ve really been enjoying this in WvW. I decided to throw some cavalier items into the mix for a little bit of toughness. Also took shadowstep instead of refuge. Other than that, most everything is the same. Great build
Only trait i’ve never used would have to be acidic elixirs.
I mostly use FT for the toolbelt skill, since it’s kinda difficult to keep burning up at all times with p/s. That said, I do occasionally switch to it and use 2-5. #5 has saved me so many times from eating big hits when i’m down.
Race change please. There are days (every day) when i just curse myself for making a human engi instead of an asura engi. Already level 80, completed personal story, unlocked loads of rare dyes, jetpack, rank 80 in wvw, etc…sooo yeah leveling another toon of the same profession doesn’t really appeal to me..Would gladly drop $20+ dollars for it
