“First half of 2013” = content not coming before May.

I hated raids in other games. But that’s because it required the good stuff with a ton of grind needed…

The jellyfish takes hardly any time to kill if you do the actual strategy for the bossfight. If you drag it to the electrified cages every time, it’s down in a couple minutes tops.

And what Ettin are you talking about?

The Ettin in the asura structure… when a rabbit, a bandit and a charr shaman spawn with him… I feel it so hard each time I fight him…

I use the LFG website, it is very helpfull, and you can join cross server. Why not make all the cities cross server then? Lion’s arch has so much to explore and look at without the LFM messages for fractals.

I did use the LFG website… I ended up with a team with 2 EU people (including me) and 3 US people. And then we noticed we can’t play together, because the 2 big servers are separated.

I had to recruit in Lion Arch to finally get a team.

You missed my point. So let’s explain again. I did a serie of 3 fractals… but got kicked on the boss of the third, so I got only 2 for my achievement. Then I did a serie of 4, without any problem this time, and I had 6/7 for my achievement.

And then, you know the rest… My point is, without this glitch, I’d have 7/7 and no bad story…

The game itself deserves all the awards of the world,

But the rest is handled by jerks (Gem Store, end-game, etc…). I feel that someone is really limiting developpers since release…

+1 to this idea, but only if they add a LFG tool…

The game bugged; it happens. But you CHOSE to leave them. It wasn’t the game it was you. Just as those other people CHOSE not to continue with you to help you get that last bit of achievement. You could have stayed and helped them finish it off but were tired or simply disliked fractals too much to want to stay longer. But just remember it was your CHOICE to leave them. You can deny it all you want but then why do you feel guilty about it?

I never said I wanted to be the good guy. And as I said, this kind of things wouldn’t happen if Arenanet wasn’t so lazy. WHY do we have to grind fractals? WHY can’t my team recruit another player to replace me?? WHY do such glitchs happen during a boss???

Yes but those were newbs. Two of them probably never did a fractal before.

Honestly, I would not be happy if I were in their situation now.

So, here is my story. I wanted to do my monthlies to get the mystic coins… But some dev had the great idea to put fractals as a requirement to make me grind a few hours… I hate fractals, but I wanted my reward. So, well, let’s go!

I made a team for level 2. It was hard and glitchy, as I was with some people from US servers and we noticed quite fast that we can’t play together… So, well, I had to recruit other peoples…

After 30 minutes of recruiting, here I was. We rushed the fractals, and 40 minutes later we were killing the boss of the third fractal.

Once the boss had only 20% life left, all my team was kicked from the dungeon and returned to Lion Arch. Our reaction: WTF.

(If you follow me, I have 2/7 of my achievement.)

So we didn’t stop there we did it again, we grinded 3 more fractals and we had the special fourth one. This time, no bug.

(Now I have 6/7 of my achievement.)

So no one wanted to stay so they all left. 6/7, seriously, what am I gonna do? I don’t want to grind 3 more fractals.

Well, I did something very simple. I made a lvl 1 fractal team, we bashed the first fractal, I left. Achievement done.

See now why I feel horrible?

But is it really my fault? I mean, first you invent fractals to push us to grind, then you force us to do those, and then “bad luck” kicks me from the dungeon when the final boss is about to die? No way.

This will include providing more details about our goals for the game, information about the stories and features that you’ll see in the Jan/Feb/March releases.

To set expectations accordingly, the January release will be a relatively small release that sets the table for the stories and features we plan to roll out with the Feb/March releases and beyond. Also, there will be no new race, profession, or new region with these larger Feb/March releases. One of our major goals with these releases is making our existing world as strong as possible, ensuring there are reasons to go to all the locations in the world we’ve already built, and strengthening the core game we’ve provided. In saying this will be an expansions worth of stuff in these releases, we’re talking about the number of new features that will be rolled out across PvE, WvW, and PvP in early 2013, which usually you’d only find in an expansion for a traditional MMORPG.

More details and specifics to come in the next couple of weeks, but I hope that helps provide some more insight into what to expect at a very high level.

They probably are trying to keep the money supply down by having us buy tools. That’s the same reason we have a fee for using the BLTC and stuff like that.

Yes, I thought of that. It’s a gold sink.

But selling permanent tools would probably make more benefits than pushing us to spend 4s every 100 nodes. And selling permanent tools creates less annoyance. And for 400 gems/ea, a lot of players would spend like 8g/ea and that’s probably more gold than all the tools they’d ever buy instead…

Becuz they actually really believe that you are going to buy 11316848 dyes pack in the gem store for all your characters.

So, well… I was gathering and thinking to the Gem Store in the same time and I thought ; why not permanent gathering tools?

We are all tired of RNG after this Wintersday event so why not sell tools like this directly for like 400 gems/tool, aka 5 bucks/tool for a few lines of code.

I never bought anything in the Gem Store except from a santa hat / a few char slots and I would buy this right away.

Who knows? They’re capable of everything now.

Nobody forces you to begin such things before the max level.

20 Mystic Coins and 10 Jugs of Karma isn’t useful at lvl 50.

Yes it’s the lvl 30 dungeon in the charr starting zone.

I don’t remember if it’s during January or February but I would love to see the nice WvW improvements they have talked about.

I would love a more “sandbox” approach (we have to build our forts/towers ourselves, we have to cut the big trees to gather ressources/we can build our houses and build walls all around them, creating villages), well something a little more “ArcheAge”, but with GW2’s theme, graphics, and unique ideas.

Of course, I don’t think that they are going to do this kind of things at all, but we can always dream…

The excessive goldsinks are a niave attempt by NCSoft to strongarm players toward converting real money to game gold.

I say niave as it seems to be more effective at pushing people off the game altogether.

Those conspiracy theories are incredibly silly. If ArenaNet really were doing everything they could to make people use the in-game store, there are many other things they would have done. They would:

• Not give items from the in-game store for free as in-game rewards. Having transformation stones available in the world as rewards from different sources removes one reason players would have to buy gems.

• Not have the “Deposit collectibles” feature in inventory. This would make players need more inventory space and thus make more players buy bag slots.

• Not have added the ability of using crafting stations as banks, or of crafting directly with items stored in the bank. This made people less willing to buy the items that allow players to access the bank from anywhere.

• Not have added the new collectible tab in the bank, basically giving people more free storage, since this (rather obviously) makes people less likely to buy more bank space.

• Not make people capable of buying gems with gold.

And so on, and so on. IMO, it’s naive to assume that there’s an evil conspiracy to make the poor players waste their money with gems in order to play the game.

There are no “excessive” gold sinks. I would remove the cost of changing traits simply because I think that’s the kind of feature players should be incentived to use, not restricted, but the simple way to avoid repair fees is to not die. Considering how often people say that GW2 is easy, not dying shouldn’t be a challenge.

Is it a F2P game?

Anyway, I’m a regular nerd (2-4 hours a day most of the time, no more free time, but 12 hours a day during weekends/holidays) and sorry if I do not enjoy this “journey” as much as you do.

I think that Bar Brawl isn’t implemented yet, but it seems that achievements are already there… Weird.

You guys have said pretty much everything to say already.

The current situation is very profitable to Arenanet, since people are encouraged to buy gold as it is useful everywhere in the game and pretty hard to get.

You now have 5 solutions:
- Convince Arenanet that this situation is not profitable for them. (Forget it, it is…)
- Change humanity and convince cash cows to stop buying gold.
- Change your mind and play without even caring about them. (Sounds hard if GW2 is really your life…)
- Give your brain to a cave troll and go buy gold too.
- MINDBLOW.

I’m afraid it’s very hard to get one right now. The first ones were given during Gamescom only but everyone found this a bit unfair so they gave the rest to fansites who then distributed those through a lot of giveaways. And I think that they work for EU community only.

All giveaways are over, I think, that’s why it’s very hard to get one…

Let me find back that article where Colin says they aren’t focusing on an expansion…

Speaking of the updating process- that’s one of the beauties of making a game that’s based in online, that you can constantly be updating it. But aside from continual updates for Guild Wars 2, are there any plans for bigger expansions that are kind of in the works?

Yeah, yeah, we are actively working on a bigger expansion as well. But that’s something we don’t have a real timetable set on yet. Our major focus now, like most of the companies, is live updates. But we do have a small group of people that is working on expansions and stuff down the road as well. But our big goal, what we wanted to do, is really kind of do something that no one’s ever done before in an MMO after it came out. And that’s every single month, adding giant updates to our game and do a huge release that really gives the players the sense that they’re paying their monthly fee, and every four to five months, they’re getting free expansions’ worth of content as part of logging into our game.

Also if you read everything they have said that they won’t make an expansion every 6 months as it too hard for the development team. It’s been 4 months since release and they have been working a lot on events…

I participated in so many contests that I have a spare T-Shirt code that I can do nothing with but sell it for a bunch of gold. But I see 2 problems ;

Yea, spend your week, month, or whatever fraction of your life you want running after a “legendary” thingy, while people are throwing hundreds of dollars to buy gold for those lodestones and Arenanet is happy.

I will be playing Minecraft, some Hack & Slash and I’ll level some characters in Guild Wars 2. Becuz it’s fun. Maybe someday I’ll craft a legendary, when it will actually be about playing my game.

The bad guy in this story is whoever leads NCsoft. Greediness = Applying taxes everywhere in the game (TP, waypoints) to sell more gold = Everyone is unhappy but him and this scam happens.

I hope something horrible will happen to HIM.
