As we mentioned last week, for those players who were not able to get the rewards for the final Lost Shores event because they were suffering connection issues, we will provide rewards for their participation in the event. Thanks for your patience while we worked to resolve this.
We will hand out the rewards via In-game mail today – Quick FYI… it might take several hours to run the script, so do not panic if you do not immediately receive it. ~RB2
They’ve said that they have reached 90% server capability during the Lost Shores event.
(and those who were there do remember what 90% is)
So maybe should they start thinking about better servers for hard evenings…
Yea, my Norn is just as strange.

Maybe it’s a new conspiracy
I also hope this will never happen. If they remove the money gains from the box purchases, they will have to compensate through the item shop. The last thing I want in GW2 is a greedy item shop like all those trash F2P games have.
Because it can get worse than right now LOL ?
The list for things you can’t buy is short ; Dungeon Tokens, Karma, Achievement Points?
(edited by Keiran.1896)
Rest assured that you’ll be able to get an ascended berserkers weapon and transmute it onto your legendary-skinned regular exotic.
Right now if you do that with an exotic weapon, well it works but your legendary weapon becomes exotic-colored. Not really nice.
I have been farming for my legendary pretty hardcore over the past few weeks (farmed passively since the beginning of the game) and I just get sad when I look at the list of items I still need for the Legendary.
So far I farmed EVERYTHING that is non-gold related. Karma/Skill Points/Badges/Tokens/Exploration/etc..
Roughly adding up the remaining materials I need that are gold related, it looks like I’ll need around 500-600gold, maybe more.
That is just ridiculous. I have like 50gold, 75 gold tops (if I sold everything).
What do you think the % of gold buying players is for those who own a legendary? I think at least 90% of them bought gold. 7% got a pre-cursor early on, and the rest either got funded by their guild or got lucky with a few precursor drops.
Farming it should not be based on luck. The only way I see my self getting a legendary is by getting really lucky by getting a precursor drop, and still it will be hard to get.
I’m in the same position than you. I was really motivated to get a legendary – I farmed karma, badges, tokens, etc… and I ended up having only 20 gold for the gold-related parts. End of my quest, end of my dream – I’m not going to farm 200 gold to get my item, especially when some people are spending their real money to get it faster than me.
Colin Johanson has a talent to push my excited button “on”, let’s hope that this January-February content will be just as awesome as he is saying
A new race? A bunch of new zones? New dungeons? Elder dragons to fight?
I do that very often.
When there’s almost no one on the map, and a group of 10 ennemies just try to kill you while you are trying to join your allies, well, I just log out/in and I come back in WvW.
No damage repair, and I assure you that it is raging when you’re target is disconnecting and you get no loot.
Remember that Gold = Bucks because of the cash shop.
And this also prevents traders from making profits at TP.
What if the top-tier/BiS is very easy to get, but that it could be continually upgraded in small increments via “enchanting?” Let’s suppose that +stat upgrade on a piece of gear is open-ended, but that the cost goes up exponentially as you want to put more and more +stats on it.
Nice idea. I suggest to use skill points/karma/gold/etc… for this.
For example, if you have a precision + power + condition damage item, adding +1 to each stat would cost [5 skill points, 5.000 karma]. And then, the next would cost [10 skill points, 10.000 karma], and then [20 skill points, 20.000 karma] and etc… until it becomes (almost) impossible like [320 skill points, 320.000 karma] and etc… etc… infinitly.
Each piece could have different ways to improve, to encourage players doing every kind of things in the game. For example, a jewel could be improve with ore (ex: begins with 5 orichalchium ingots for one upgrade), a helm with skill points and karma, a chestpiece with fractal tokens, shoulderpads for having achievement points, etc…
^I have a theory.
Actually, gold works the same way in economy than items. It is simple: “The more players have gold, the less it worth.”
Let’s imagine that they implement a new way to get gold: “You get 10 gold every 5 ennemies you kill”. Woaaah! It would be fun, wouldn’t it be?
The fact is, everything on TP would increase. Precursors would worth hundred of thousands of gold instead of a few hundred, etc… Well, a general decrease of the value of gold.
But, if gold decreases, then you need more gold. And killing 5 ennemies again and again would become grindy.
What I want to say, if that, a good amount of gold with fun and without grind in a game, is impossible to get.
2 weeks ago, and still bugged.
What are you doing, Arenanet? >.<
BTW I don’t understand, (last time it was the WvW puzzle door not opening), how can such glitchs happen? it’s working fine, and then, it doesn’t anymore for everyone? sometimes I just wonder if you’re not the ones intentionally creating those glitchs, for mysterious reasons.

I was considering making a dance video… WOW YOU JUST CONVINCED ME.
Wowowow, I think I have a found the technic. 20 points made since my last post, and I haven’t lost a copper.
1. Buy white/blue items for 8-10 coppers at TP.
2. Buy Crude Salvage Kits.
3. Salvage everything.
4. Sell mats at TP (copper worth the most, 12 copper/ea).
5. Return to step 1.
No loss of money, but hell, it’s grindyyyyy. Now that I’ve tried, I respect him for having 12k points this way. 100 points a day this way… would be a lot.
Better starting with dailies/monthlies/slayer achievements^^
(edited by Keiran.1896)
Where’s the legendary? I mean, 15k achievement points is a lot of dailys/salvaging/jumping puzzles/dungeons/etc (possibly), thus money, so where’s the legendary?
If he got his points by salvaging, it’s minimum 1 gold for 10 points. So 12k points… 1200 gold? (though less if he sells what he salvaged) I doubt he has any money left after this. :P
(edited by Keiran.1896)
What’s your technic? Just salvage?
I’m around 3.5k, not using any farm :P
he karka loot was not enough I think, smart traders don’t want to give up on their 150-300 gold price…
I fixed it for you
You have to account for the fact the economy has undergone quite significant inflation since the bots were banned. This has meant people can afford to pay more and thus prices have stayed relatively static despite the influx of supply.
Well, let’s take an exemple on the Lover:
Before Karka – 2 supply – 300 gold
After Karka – 50+ supply – 150 gold
People are greedy… And I’m not saying “stupid” like “nobrain”, but stupid like “Yeyeyeyeye, let’s buy all the supply to put my own price to get rich over others!”.
Anyway precursor’s price is rising again. The karka loot was not enough I think, stupid traders don’t want to give up on their 150-300 gold price…
As a ranger, my favorite strategy to pown a warrior:
1. Take a longbow (even lvl 3, doesn’t need to have stats).
2. Run until you find a cliff.
3. Place the warrior close to the cliff and press skill 4. Enjoy!
Another one:
1. In the WvW jumping puzzle, choose a jump place.
2. Put a trap on the extremity of this place.
3. Wait for an ennemy to come. He’ll come on this place, make a step back to calculate his jump, begin to run, activate the trap, jump… and die from his fall! (if you choose your spot carefully, you’ll never stop laughing xP)
Gaston is working on it :P

Hating fractals, I’d say: No.
A Quaggan Mini
A second Quaggan Mini
A free hat, obviouzly
Some quaggan plushy
A GW2 expansion
A Golem grinding for me
Ascended Gears removed
and… uhm… a third Quaggan Mini?
Looks like an easter egg. Seems to belong to arab culture, since I only get that by google-ing “Bomsak”.
Can also relate to:

Also the picture at left seems to be… a wine bottle with something writen under, all I can read is “New…”

Anyone else not really excited?
Then you have never played GW1, at least not during Wintersday!
Once again an Asura is the main character. I wonder if they regret putting humans in the game.
An human would have been weird. Who can make toys in a giant flying workshop better than an Asura?
How, if even included, will the traditional Grenth VS. Dwayna be included? Since that’s only for humans.
I can easily see humans trying to imitate the game of their old gods, fighting each other disguised in Dwayna or Grenth partisans.
Also, I really hope that Wintersday will happen in every city so that we have the chance to see how each race considers this event. War toys (mom, I want a wood sword!) for Charrs, technologic things for Asuras (wooah, I can command this mini-golem X-452MAS), curiosity for Sylvari (trying to imitate the others, but no children, just plants growing for winter), and beer & fights for Norns, obviously.
Least wanted Toys:
1. Christmas Karka
2. Risen mini
3. A gear treadmill. Well a gear treadmill toy in game that was actually a treadmill would be funny
I can already tell you that in the Gem Store, there will be:
- Tixx’s Gift (contains random wintersday items).
- Mini Tixx.
- Mini Christmas Golem.
-Mini Quaggan(okay, let’s stop dreaming)
- Random Christmas Dyes.
- Ascended Christmas Hat, 0.00000001% in Tixx’s Gift.Yes I think you have it down, but what costumes will be on offer?
Oh, yeah, costumes. Well, probably a Grentch one, since humans probably have memories about them, even if they don’t come back. And, I hope, a christmas red and white one!

At least they have heard about feedback ; a month-long event, no excuse to miss it!
At least the Gem Store won’t be empty :P
It’s up and running on EU. Maybe a US problem?
Also there are Wintersday infos incoming… they are working on the official website… could be linked?
I’ll just begin by quoting a small part of the post of Mike O’Brien, from yesterday’s AMA.
That’s why we’ve always said that GW2 rewards players through both progression and collection, whereas GW1 primarily rewarded through collection.
That’s on this point that I miss GW1. This game had HoM, worthy titles, fight for skin. Now Mike is saying GW2 has both progression and collection ; okay, I can see progression coming but where is collection?
We have no HoM, and titles are not worth anything.
You have a new skin? Great, you lost a bank slot!
You got the Combat Healer title? Great, just like 9/10 of the players!
You got the 5000-events achievement? Great… there’s no title.
You got the Ultimate Sentinel title? WOW! But nobody can see it, as they need to click on you to see it under your name…
I understand we are only 2+ months away from release, but there’s no need to wait 3 years like GW1 to introduce those features. Take your lessons from your first game already. Just don’t forget what was GW1 before making GW2.
(edited by Keiran.1896)
Well, there’s nothing more stupid than deleting a 3-months work. Just for a few bucks.
That’s all.
The only “real” info he gave:
Hi Kreindis,
I like to play all kinds of games. My favorites are Online Worlds and RTS games and I am currently playing (sparingly as i don’t get much time) Forza Horizon, X- Com, Halo 4 and a lot of Guild Wars 2.
My favorite game of all time is Mario 64.
Chris
“a lot of GW2”, I bet he’s grinding fractals
Another AMA mess. Reddit was really a bad choice…
And with Chris answering one question per hour, just trying to shut our mouth about the Ascended Stuff with lies and kind words, it’s kinda just a fail…
Just make the WvW Eternal Battleground jumping puzzle. 15+ badges per day.
Okay, a few ragers may try to camp you but… it’s the hardcore part of your legendary I’ve personnally invented a few traps with my ranger skills to kill everyone blocking my road.
are ya sure the exploiters didnt just quit cos they were upset about ascended gear?
Yea and bots are grinding fractals
60 of any dungeon token = 1 Dungeon Shard.
100 Fractal Relics = 1 Fractal Shard.
10 Dungeon Shards + 2 Fractal Shard + 50 ectos + 1 Eldritch Scroll = Ascended Gear.
Simple and you got your players playing everything. Not just fractals.
Why not?
All we need is cross server dungeon finder and working LFG tool.
^This, Anet, please!!
This game is free too, give it a try. After 1 week, come back and tell me how much you hated it and its business model.
^This.
GW2 is far from being free after buying the box. At least the non-annoying GW2. Of course, I’ve never bought a single gem but they are so wasting my game…
Well, I’d prefer a normal 20-slot box. :P
Well… if your formula is exact, pretty easy, isn’t it?^^
If you have only one stack then,
1000 condition + 50% duration :
1/2 + (0.05×1000) + 2.5
=0.5 + (0.05×1000) + 2.5
=3 + 50
=53 per second, over 20 seconds instead of 10.
1000+500 condition damage = 1500 condition damage :
1/2 + (0.05×1500) + 2.5
= 0.5 + (0.05×1500) + 2.5
=3+75
=78 per second, so 780 over 10 seconds.
Though I am good at maths with numbers but not really for game mechanics. I might be forgetting something^^
(edited by Keiran.1896)
Did you notice the picture they have posted on Facebook with that?
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/704599_10151210953644209_1412083915_o.jpg
Sounds like another hidden message to me :S
As elsbeth said, video games are out to make money. Everyone working for that company needs to get paid to keep a gaming running.
If they were so greedy, they would charge a monthly fee. Instead you by the game and play for FREE. The gem store is entirely up to YOU to use. If you think they’re greedy, stop buying stuff. I, personally, buy stuff because I love the game and want to support it. I want the developers to continue adding and fixing this game and I understand they can’t do that for free.
If you’re seeing all that from the gem store, all I can say is wow.
Guild Wars 1 has been alive for 7 years. How? Selling boxes, expansions, bank and characters slots, skin & name change tickets and costumes during parties. I was happy to buy something sometimes.
So how does Guild Wars 2 needs all this stuff to run? I’d prefer ONE THOUSAND TIMES a monthly fee, if this could avoid all this cash shop corruption. They are taking advantage of every event to sell 100$ of items every month, and I’m not even talking about gold.
So yea, if I could have a game without the Cash Shop, without every nerfed farm because gold = dollars, without all these players like you trying to buy my gold… I’d pay a monthly fee with so much joy. And with a monthly fee, less players, less success, less corruption. Less millions for the guys running NCsoft, Nexon, and all the rest.
(edited by Keiran.1896)
I am confused…
What about when you go out to a restaurant? Are you also thinking about the guy that owns the restaurant? What about the company that makes your car, or your clothes, or your toothpaste? Everything is made by somebody, and somebody gets rich off of it. Even in purely socialistic countries there is a wealthy elite that has the power and controls everything.
Yes, but let’s say a restaurant has a lot of success, it doesn’t increase prices. Water is free, if there’s more people going into the restaurant, water will remain free.
However, isn’t a such success the worst thing you can hope for a game like GW2? the more there are players, the more there are dollars-eyed flies flying around the developpers, the more sales expectations are rising and the more cash shop is growing terrible.
Please, players, leave this game >.<
To avoid a misunderstanding, let’s explain it this way:
Let’s say you like the skin of Shield A and you have a Shield B.
You transmute the skin of Shield A to Shield B: Shield A is destroyed, and then Shield B has the skin of Shield A.
If you find a Shield C with better stats than Shield B, sure, you can repeat the operation again as many times as you want.
Morality? I think they have none.
When I walk in Divinity Reach, I see passionated developpers working on NPCs, details, amazing landscapes, as well as when I walk in Queensdale. Water, trees, events, everything seems joyful.
And then I press “O”, and I only see one thing, a small and shiny gem icon. Behind that, I see a single guy, cold, alone, thinking about serious business, hating videogames in general. And that guy is taking a look on GW2 ; there are millions of players. “Millions of stupid people…” would he say. “Ha! Videogames have no point”. And then, to him, those millions players only exist for one thing ; making him rich.
Making him, single guy, leader of a company, rich.
And then, I read some GW2 developers interview on Internet. “Passionated developpers, that’s awesome!”, I think. And then I look again this shiny gem icon. “There’s something wrong”. “It doesn’t fit with it”.
And then, Ascended Gears comes. People start talking about Nexon… on GW2 forums. Gem Store is getting bigger and bigger…
Where is morality there? Are we just consumers using a product? Or gamers playing GUILD WARS 2? If a team like Arenanet can be corrupted like this, in like 1 month, after 7 years of pure game-making, what game company cannot anymore? Are MMOs all meant to be corrupted like this, or do we have to play Wii do avoid a shop? Are all games meant to be played by millions of players to make rich, one single guy?
Now, when I walk in Queensdale, I just don’t know what to think…
I’ll just stop there and let you to your thoughts.
There’s nothing wrong with selling portal services to the top of the puzzle if people are willing to pay for em. :P
That’s a cool idea!
It’s kinda already happening^^ I see announcements like this sometimes on my server. At least of Eternal Battlegrounds one.
Completely ignored the huge amount of feedback from Oceanic players about being unable to participate…
They have been talking about “problems”. That probably included “Lag, bugs and not being able to participate”. I’m sure that they’ll find a way to extend such events later, don’t give up yet!
