Okay… Then I’m going to give you my point of view on these points again. Your first argument is that Arenanet shouldn’t make that event a one-time event.

Arenanet people are not bad people. In fact, most of them must be wasting their weekend at work to get all the content ready. They have tons of things to do. They must prepare Act 3 & 4, start working on future events, improve the game, read feedback, add content, etc… Conclusion, they are constantly VERY busy making this a great game because they realise that a huge amount of people is expecting things from them.
They could have very well designed 3 items and put these the Gem Store and call this an Halloween event. But no, we had events, doors, content, somekind of quest, mini-games, etc… And now, they want to had a one-time time event to have fun with some players and because that’s the kind of things they enjoy. So, what? If they want to make it a one-time event, shouldn’t they be able to? After all this content that they have given us, don’t you think that they have the right to? Plus they are doing it for a majority of players, with no exclusive reward.

Now, that Clock Tower. As I said in my main post, imagine if you were an Arenanet developper coming on this forum. Players are giving feedback, yea, but there’s a problem. Would you prefer to read:

“HEY ARENANET YOUR CLOCK TOWER SU*** IT IS CRAP GO MAKE IT EASIER OR I BURST THE WHEELS OF YOUR BIKE. BTW THAT HALLOWEEN EVENT IS JUST ALL CRAP JUST AS EVERYTHING YOUR DOING SO CHANGE IT”

I’ve tried Mad King’s Clock Tower many times and I have to admit that this is a bit too hard for me. I really want that achievement and these exotic boots so I was thinking about lowering a bit the difficulty.

So, do you see the problem of that “feedback”, now? Arenanet’s people are humans, they do have emotions and I can tell you that the second example has way more chance to get an answer.

Now, you have a few solutions left if you can’t make that Jumping Puzzle:

1. Enjoy life and continue to play the rest of the game, because after all Halloween is only a small part of Guild Wars 2 and your feedback has only a small chance to be taken in consideration.

2. Commit suicide because you’re the most unfortunate guy of the world because you can’t finish your Jumping Puzzle.

3. Take your rage and turn it in the right way. I did that puzzle, you can too.

Just for the record when I, and apparently a few other people, posted topics about the clock tower being “broken” we meant it literally – bugs made it impossible to finish (or in my case start) the puzzle. It’s now working for me and I’ve tried and failed it about 5 times, but that part I don’t have a problem with.

I think it’s painting an inaccurate picture to lump in topics about bugs with ones about the difficultly based on the title and assume they’re all the same.

And Arenanet’s people who are solving bugs are probably not checking hallomess’ section, so you should go there.

So, now let’s talk about this mess.

First, there are people crying about that one-time event story. They gotta walk their dogs, they gotta get an hurricane on their heads… So they can’t assist this event. Okay! That’s great! (as would say a guy called Colin). But first, Arenanet can’t make an event for all these people. Every day, every hour, every minute, every second there’s someone that can’t play Guild Wars 2. So the event was set a SUNDAY during some people’s HOLIDAYS in the right time for US and EU country.
Let me remind you after that, that there are people dying of hunger in the world while you are crying for this, right? And there are tons of people who would love to play videogames but who live in a poor country, right?
Are you still crying for this event?

No, so let’s talk about this Mad King’s Clock Tower problem. Let’s imagine you’re in Arenanet’s position: you’re working hard on the game, you’re preparing Act 3 and Act 4, you’re working all your time on a Saturday for these stupid players, you’re stressed, you’re annoyed, etc.
And then you come on this forum and you read about players annoyed because they spent 2-6 hours trying to do this puzzle. And they’re really annoyed. But there are also players saying the contrary: this is perfect as it is, you shouldn’t listen to them.

I’m afraid that you won’t get much things if you come after the end of the event but you could log-in or ask someone to do it for you and grab the free hat in the Gem Store.

If you have any occasion to play, do it, because it’s worth it.

Awesome, indeed. I’ve spent total 3 hours in this puzzle: 1 hour to complete it the first time and 2 farming it for bags (total 272 bags collected/60+ runs before being bored). That’s not wasted time

I remember when they said this game was not about luck…

Not even a message on the chest saying, “Hey! This can only be opened once a day!”. No, just a glitch. Just like when they glitched Miswrought Vault because it was too rewarding…

Guys I got 272 ToT bags just by doing this during 2 hours. This puzzle is just awesome <3

My best score is like 10 times in a row without falling.

I’m just farming it now, I got hundreds of bags from it in around an hour

Just don’t give up, it took me an hour for the first win!

There is a 24 hour time limit in effect now. You can run it as often as you want, the chest simply won’t open. If it won’t open period, that’s a bug, unfortunately.

Source? That seems to be pure player speculation. Since many people had it glitched the first time they opened it and yesterday…

The only good reward is from the jumping puzzle. The chest always contains Mad King’s exotic boots and it can be opened once per character. Really useful for rerolls.

For the rest… Candies, achievements, titles and permanent Halloween exotic weapons (really hard to get). Apart from that, every good item is in the Gem Store.

Did it with my five characters to get free boots.

Sylvari. Ranger. No speed boost.
Charr. Warrior. No speed boost.
Norn. Guardian. No speed boost.
Asura. Engineer. No speed boost.
Human. Elementalist. No speed boost.

See, it is possible with everything. And without any trait.

Of course, sometimes I failed miserably, but Jumping Puzzles are all about patience, skill and perseverance.

Difficulty and rage forge the fun and the pride to me!

It took me almost an hour to finish it the first time, while the developpers have certainly taken more than that to create it! It was hard but fun in the end
Then I did it with my five characters to get free boots, and it took me no more than 20 minutes per character. Great jumping puzzle!

Then I read this thread where a guy says that this is way too hard…

Mr. Gum is gonna turn into a giant dragon and destroy everything in Lion Arch and Mad King is gonna laugh so hard… oops I spoiled the one-time event…

Sorry but I prefer to farm Black Lion Keys (I’ve never bought any gem) and I don’t want to spend my gold on it.

I think you could take this a step further and give them an armor/heal rating where they could either heal you while you are fighting, give you an armor increase or could even get rid of poison or some other suffering you have.

Would create more demand for all mini pets.

Also, a few other categories are missing titles Like Slayer, Weapon Master… And also GW2 need a title of the titles, you know, like GWAMM in GW1. That was something awesome to show off.

Just a suggestion to solve the current weapon skin problem ;

When we get a new skin, -let’s imagine the Chainsaw one from Halloween-, and that we want to turn it into a powerful weapon to play with, we need an exotic weapon that has good stats, that is easy to get, and that has a skin which is not important.

That thing doesn’t exist. That’s is why I’m suggesting Basic Exotics Weapons. These weapons would be sold by a Karma Vendor for something like 100.000 karma each (so, not that easy to get). They would have the best stats of exotics weapons, and they would have a very basic skin. Then, we would just need to get a Transmutation Stone to apply any new skin to it.

What do you think? Players would collect skins more easily, would play more to get karma, and you would probably sell more of these skins.

Yea, costumes are 10 times worse than in GW1. You cannot even play with in PvE.

Costume Brawl… ha! they’re giving the wood stick and selling the gun.

I’m not talking about the content. GW2 is 10 times greater, (as is NCsoft’s pocket), but the spirit isn’t the same…

his event is about getting a maximum of cash from players, from every possible way. In GW1, it was just a costume that you could get for a few dollars and that you could spawn an infinity of times on each character by a simple /command. And you were able to use it while playing anywhere in PvE.

I mean, what did happen to Halloween between those two games? At first, GW1 events were totally free: hats, items, tonics… everything free! Then later, came costumes. I bought a few ones, one per year was cool, just perfect.

Then, Guild Wars 2 came. Do I have to say everything that is paying now? That would be faster to say what’s free, really.

You need hundreds of gold to get those things, and the price has tripled since release… I’m not talking about the frustration when you see cash cows getting everything for huge amounts of real money, while some people are dying of hunger elsewhere in the world.

Nice update, I’m just disappointed that it doesn’t work with the old specific tonics… I had only 23 mystery tonics, but I have a lot of boosts and definitly hundreds of specifics tonics…

That seems a lot right now but just think about the next year ; the prices will drop, you’ll have more gold, you’ll be more prepared ; just play and stack mats and it will be fine.

Would you be proud if you could have it from a stupid quest that everyone can easily do, like in GW1?

They should have released this at noon PST Friday, as they always did…

Unfortunately it seems that they have rushed the development of this event… no time to release it before weekend, no patience to release it the next day at the right hour…

(PS: As they have already said, there’s a majority of Europeans playing GW2. Sure America seems bigger on the map, but it isn’t always true.)

Thanks for starting this thread! I have some expectations of which expansions will be released based on the information ANet has given us, but this is a really fun discussion to start.

Expected Expansions

• Continents: Cantha / Elona
• Races: Very possible no new races. If any: Tengu / Canthans / Kurzick / Luxon. Elonians / Kournans / Vabbians
• Bosses: Cantha Boss – Emperor (or whatever is controlling the Emperor) Elona – Palawa Joko
• Level Cap: I don’t believe they should add new levels. Only new skills / ways to obtain new traits.
• Dungeons: All of the Divine areas (ex: Underworld, Fissure of Woe, etc), Emperor’s Palace, Palawa Joko’s desert domain.

Kursicks and Luxon were all killed, or added to the Empire, by a random emperor. Palawa Joko conquered Elona so he probably killed Vabbians and Kournans.

However, I could see a race of Canthans, a sort of copy of the human character creation, restricted to an asiatic style with more possibilities. And a different personnal story, of course.

Also, there’s a door that leads to Crystal Desert at south of Ruin Field… but it’s currently closed. That just shows that they can add a portal whenever they want.

Cantha was probably a way to sell boxes to asiatic countries, and I think that they might do it again but, if as they said they don’t do stand-alones, I can’t see how these people could just access Cantha without completing Tyria…
