Guardians cant handle multiple mobs? Guardians suck in WvW? Whoever thinks that is crazy. The only type of guardians that suck in WvW is pure support guardians. Why? Because they are 1 trick ponies like warriors.
Do you want to know why warriors are so bad? Because burst damage doesnt mean anything if it doesnt hit. Warriors high burst skill will only hit noobs who dont use dodge or stun breakers.
Good luck to those who would rather play warriors in WvW over guardian. I will just keep adding your badges to my collection.
I have even face tanked warriors in WvW. Guardian will always come up on top if you know how to play.
Why do you think they keep nerfing us and buffing warriors? Its because we are awesome. On paper it looks like the warrior gets lits of nice things but they lack build synergy that makes Guardians far stronger.
It takes more skill to play a guardian and if you play it well, you will never lose to a warrior.warriors are actually considered a lower tier class by the pro’s. Guardian is floating near the top.
Valour/Honour have traits for damage also. It doesn’t mean you HAVE TO go support or just tank.
2h mastery, larger symbols, writ of persistence all make the hammer into a formidable weapon in combat.
Valour adds 30% crit dmg is hardly a support trait. AH is for your own benefit.
It all depends on how you play. Then build around that. Not play how you build as if you follow certain builds, you are forced to play in a particular style.
I built mine around valour and honour but I can play as any role. This allows for hybrid builds based on equipment.
You can still do good damage without being a glass cannon.

I’ve recently rolled a Ranger and loving it. I use the longbow to attack mobs and do as much damage as possible until they get into melee range then swap to sword/dagger and use the evasion attack skills to kill them without taking any damage.
I find Rangers can hold their own in melee if played right. I main as a Guardian and am not too used to the low armour classes but the mitigation/avoiding skills for melee rangers really shine.
Also, S/D or S/A rangers look like Kungkittenclass
Guardian support is pretty much passive/automatic as you play. Even if you spec for damage you can still get those mitigation skills.
Damage wise Guardians don’t do high burst damage but very good sustained damage. Over a period of time the damage isn’t that far apart from other classes really. Even warrior.
There are many types of support. Giving Might to your team counts as support too. The guardian support is tailored to be “help others to help yourself” so supporting others is in a way built in to everything. Just remember not to gimp yourself.
Find your happy medium. You don’t need to be THE BEST at doing damage. You just need to be able to do enough damage to kill whilst still being quite tanky. Mix and match items and armour to find your happy medium. Guardians have enough damage output to kill any class even if you don’t go full glass cannon. Just remember, Guardians aren’t made to burst.

In WvW go with staff for mobility
You haven’t found the balance for guardian yet. You’ve gone down the wrong path that others like you have walked because you think a guardian must be defensive to Guard.
In PvP, you are worthless as a bunker. There is nothing for you to bunker to protect or hold except for walls or gates. Even then you will be fighting against a zergs so without help you will die anyway.
If you roam or do a lot of small group battles, the lack of damage really stands out. As a solo Guardian you need to be able to kill the opponent or at least do enough damage to pressure them. Building for defence but not being able to kill the enemy is only delaying the inevitable. Against other guardians you will just be fodder.
Guardians sweet spot for HP is around 15k-16k. Going 20k only delays you from being killed by 3 seconds which isn’t that great tbh. Higher numbers look good, but in the end you are trading off far too much to get it.
Learn to mitigate damage and CC. The initial 5-10 seconds of combat is when most people unload their skills on you. Use your mitigation skills to avoid the big damage and then when it is all gone, go on the offensive in relative safety. Remember to be able to do decent damage or else it is pointless.
Bunkers are only actually any good in sPvP and tPvP. Not in open combat. The amount of them that I kill is quite upsetting as I hate seeing the Guardian being played under its potential.
My advice is to either keep the armour set and replace trinkets with berserker items. Or keep the trinkets and go berserker armour. You can mix and balance depending on your play style. Find your happy medium.

Still not likely to get to 19k on a Guardian with toughness Gear on. You can try and test it out. Even with 25 stacks of might.
Just a shout out to those people that have transferred down into our tier and think they are the business.
We are the FoW army. We will not surrender. We will not go down without a fight. We have honed our skills against higher numbers since day one. When the numbers are fairly even, we never lose.
The only thing you have going for you is to zerg us to death. One of us is worth 4 of you. Unfortunately we are outnumbered 10-1 which makes things quite difficult but we will not surrender.
To those who native Vabbi and Ros who feel like their servers have been taken over. We offer you sanctuary in our lands. We will help you smash these usurpers until they decide they have had enough and leave this tier. When that happens you can go back to your own server with heads held high that you have not just given in and let your country be taken from you. that you have stood as proud men (and women) to fight for your homeland back from the clutches of tyranny.
I throw down a challenge to all those upper tier badboys that think they are so hot to fight me. I will be keeping vigil over Greenwater supply camp. Some of you have already tasted my hammer and know what it means to go up against a FoW Guardian.

Shouldn’t be possible. There is no way to get that high a number even using sieges on a guardian with what looks like Tough/Vit armour on.
They should have made an underwater fort to capture. This will actually force people into the water more. I personally think underwater fighting is quite fun now and again, but as it is there is no incentive to fight underwater at all.
Commander achievement should be unlocked when you hit a target of a combination of other achievmrnts.
Sacking
Defending
Escorting
Upgrading
Supplying
Building sieges
Enemies killed
Once all have been maxed out then the commander title and icon is unlocked. Paying for commander can breed many commanders people just should not follow as they are neither skilled or understand WvW.
Just for kicks though just put paid+multi achievments together.

That is what scouts are for.
You’ve obviously never been on a bottom tier server. 1 person is 5% of your army. 3 scouts and your army is down by 15%.
Better for us to have people on an empty map as a scout but at least allow them to farm to make money for upgrades and sieges.

The current state of the population imbalance means even if you can amass a decent for (for FoW thats about 20 people) the enemy servers will hit that force with50 AND send another 50 to your BL.
There has been an increase of new players in FoW PvE but its difficult to know how many. Even then its a double edged sword to gather them. If you gather and do well they have fun, its a win. They will be hooked. If you gather and all they get is a hefty armour repair bill and hours wasted. They will never WvW again.
FoW will not go down without a fight. We just have to up our game.
I will personally murder any small groups that roam in our BL. Was going to retire my guardian because of this rubbish but now it gives me more incentive to play.
Why is there even a need for a point ranking system. 1v1v1 winner of the week moves up.Loser moves down. 2nd place stays in same tier.
Nothing complicated and keeps things fresh EVERY WEEK.
WvW for FoW is dead. RIP. Think its about time to move servers or quit GW2 altogether.
Instead of servers i think they should do factions. Any server people from any server can join a faction regardless of time zone. New larger maps or just 1 massive persistent map with strategic locations etc
It will almost be like server merges without merging servers and only for FvF. Hell if they make 5 main factions it would be more balanced.
How about bringing back the idea of GUILDWARS and make it guild based and not server based. Now that would be epic.
Voj+sword practically made for thus signet or vice versa. You dont need to worry about duration as you activate on hits. Though 10% of highest con to burn dmg is only 70

Search through this forum for examples of builds. They will have descriptions of the synergy and playstyles. It should help you to develop your own build to your own playstyle.

I do agree. I was comparing kill speed with hammer and sword and both were pretty equal using my build.

I totally agree with henry. If you play defencive against d/d ele you are just delaying the inevitabale. If you run, its auto death.
Flip the gane on them. Go agressive and make them go defensive. Majority are not pro at ele and will screw up their combo when pressured.
A few 3-4k crits and hes riding the lightning away from you.
You just have to be abke to read the tide of battle and play def or atk when you need to.
@KensaiZen.3740, a guardian will never kill a good ele. Ele is not only about CC but also about sustain and good damage compared to the defense they have. Maybe in full bunker build you wont be able to kill eachother, but no way you will kill and D/D ele. Even a bad ele can just ‘Ride the Lightning’ away from you.
I’ll believe it when it happens. Like i said, ive never gad trouble with them. They are just a bit tougher to kill than a normal ele.
Maybe its because i dont run fulk bunker like a numpty.
No problem with d/d ele for me either. When they cast that earth spike either dodge or interupt. I also normally use 2 stun breakers in my build as well as -65% con duration so thier dmg is REALLY small. Stability will help against their lightning charge aswell as aegis.
D/d ele is all about CC. Hammer is where its at when you need to deal with them.
Refer to my juggernaut build if you are having trouble and need a build to deal with them.

The strategy is sound. Support guardians work to their full potential in a slow advance. Their mitigation and support is enough to hold back most zergs. All it takes is a few dps types to charge and kill. The guardians to march over downed and corpses to prevent res. Slowly the zerg will die.
This requires very good coordination but it is what guardians are for. If you want to pierce a zerg then change guards for warriors.
I wouldve loved to see it in action as i have always dreamed to be in such a battle. Salute to my fellow guardians!

Burning funnily works best with 1h sword. On the lasr chain it will trigger a burn you dobt need to go heavy inti con damage to make ut effective either as its an extra damage to your melee damage
I think burning condition damage is meant to be used as additionsl damade to the guardians overall damage and not to be used as a standalone damage type.
700 per tick is quite considerable if added to normal damage takes you easily over 1k per tick.
Pretty good damage considering you dont need wait 10 seconds for a substantial smount of damage.
If you go into con dmg for guardian i highly recommend using the sceptre/torch. Just practice kiting and mitigation.
If you feel you die too much from thief class it is probably due to lack of practice against them. Their high burst damage is what you need to learn to avoid instinctively. The V keyto dodge is a must use hotkey. As soon as the thief hits you with a backstab, you should be rolling away from it. As soon as this happens pop all your virtues and start swingining or AoE. Your high crit should mean dead thief within seconds.
Playing against thief is very twitchy. Use GS5 then GS2 combo if you even think the thief is nearby. It will most likely hit without it showing the damage.
For protection, use blinds and aegis. Thief needs to recover initiative after they use thier skills on you. If you deny yhem hits 1. You avoid their burst 2. They dont have initiative to continue the fight.
Your stats are fine. You just need to think about play style. Your weapons are very dps heavy and dont give you much CC. In PvP it is essential. I suggest you take hammer instead of GS.
The hammer also procs protection often. It will give you -33% damage reduction which will help you in any situation.
Looks like your wearing vigil armour. If those werent transmuted, i suggest just getting exotics. It does help.

Knights would often carry maces and hammers into battle, as they are much more effective against an armored opponent than a bladed weapon.
This is true. Blade can’t cut armor, but a hammer sure can crush it. There’s a lot more force with a hammer, so if you hit, you’d most likely break something, armor or not.
Blades dont cut armour which is why the sword became thinner at the end ie long swords. It became less about the hacking and more about the stabbing between the armour plates.
Knights were not sworn to such oaths. Only clerics.
To build a guardian based on this specification is incredibly easy. You know what tools and skills you will use at it will fit with the character of a knight. Just build trsits around that.
I think if you made a video showing how the full support guardian could turn yhe tide of battle against sn enemy zerg would have been bettet.
It seemed the enemy zerg were very timid and chose to bottleneck tjemselves on the bridge.
Granted you were doing some nice healing and ressing but overall your team didn’t do too well.
Most of the skills used doesnt require the huge sacrifice into healing (wof, empower, line of warding etc)
Personally i dont think this video was the best example of a support guardian.
I would go for attack power. Crit chance over 40% is already enough. With higher attack power the damage % would make those crits hit harder.
But if you go high end fractals you may want to go soldiers for the added condition removal.
Just do what i do… get both and swap when you feel like it
Try to remember you have more then judt the armour to add ststs from. Trinkets and weapons play a very important part of it too.
With how you have your traits i would advise balancing it with some pow/tough/vit so you have some survivability. Once you feel you have enough you can then tip the scale with your trinkets.
Going glass cannon is not totally ideal, but whatever floats your boat.
Well you already outlined the equipment and play style. Why dont you just make your own build from that?
Dont confuse server population with active server population. FoW in every part of the game is pretty much empty.
PvE, sPvP and WvW barely have people playing. Lions arch is pretty much a ghost town at times.
The population counter definiteky is not an active population counter. Just a counter thst registers people registered to the server.
10 active people us worth more thann 1000 inactive.
FoW has a decent night time coverage but absolutely crap daytime coverage. How can you say we have more people when you only play during your own off peak time? Lol
FoW WvW community is small. We dont have massive guilds with numbers to fight everyday. Most guilds can only muster 5 or 6 people at a time.
Very rarely do we outnumber RoS. You guys just have no early morning people.
Population wise though, you can keep living this fsntasy thst FoW is highly populated. The server is like a ghost town.

Stand your ground, save yourself, hold the line utilities
All soldier trinkets or all cleric trinkets
This will make you pretty much unkillable but will also mean you will barely kill anything in turn.
Use mango pie for regen and or use lemongrass poultry soup for minus condition duration for added effect.
Though I don’t urge you to go full tank. You may begin to feel immortal but your just gimping yourself by not doing any decent damage.
