I asked someone to do 10 forges and they got 5 clovers. That’s a 50% rate!
No. I didn’t actually ask someone. This is just to show that RNG is RNG and you can’t really complain about your results not matching with the average when you don’t use a large enough sample size.
I have a guildmate with a “friend” who has the most terrible luck … when he does the clover recipe he gets nothing but clovers.
That was a while ago though, maybe he finally got out of his bad luck streak.
I don’t see much issue with this recipe since the other outputs are mostly t6s were are also necessary for making a legendary. At a ratio of 77 to 2000 the 33% chance for a clover seems okay. It is even less of an issue for anyone planning to make multiple legendaries since almost output is going to be useful for some part of legendary crafting.
In a way they are both correct since the sigils use their own value for the weapon strength instead of your equipped weapon.
It sounds to me like GW2 is the wrong game for you …
Why wrong? I played and loved it for 2.5 years, so it is the wrong game because I have finished the available content or because repeating killing tequalt, or grinding metaevent maps for gold to buy nothing (as i already have full ascended set) does not click on me?. I think that the constant living story additions and events during season 1 and 2 helped me to stay for so long, as well as having to get my ascended gear, that is why now I am willing to retuen but all i see is the same I had done for 6 months before leaving some months ago
because it sounded like you wanted gear treadmill to have something to work on all the time. I guess you could go and make a set of every stat otherwise that criteria is probably never going to be fulfilled.
It sounds to me like GW2 is the wrong game for you …
Doesn’t WoW and other subscription based game have a cash shop as well?
That is not a bug. It was covered by one of the patches notes. The change was from unequipping the weapon to disabling all the skills.
and the only people who attempt it do it for the achievements. It took me a few days to find a map that way that succeeded to get my own achievements.
That’s why I need to do it. Trying to unlock the headpiece and title for my revenant. I feel like the map itself is broken as a whole. Anyways I tried to guest on a different world. Is there a best world for it?
Guesting isn’t very useful. Just check the LFG 15-20 minutes before the start of the meta. You can check http://gw2timer.com/ and similar sites for that. The wiki might also have a timer.
Daytime VB is a much much faster for getting crowbars which means more airship parts for anyone after those.
Also the change you are implying isn’t actually a change. Daytime didn’t affect nighttime rewards. At the end of the day you get the end of meta reward and then the progress bars reset.
Or you could go into the cave by the waterfall, dodge two or three mob packs, glide off an edge, and dodge some chak on your way up to the wallows in sw ogre camp. Hop in the wallows, you’re in Ogre lane by the HP. (I have done this multiple times the last two days moving alts through Sign Cutting for PS. It takes a minute, maybe two, to get to the wallows). East along the lane and you get to ley line confluence, from which point you can get pretty much anywhere event related.
That sounds a lot more convoluted than jumping down the hole near whisper wp into Nuhoch lane. On the way you can grab Teku Nuchoch which also gives you easy access to Rata Novus.
My profession skills are on ZXCECapsLock(not really CapsLock, it is the CapsLock key remaped to F5). Utilities are on my mouse with modifier keys.
The two wiki pages seem to be using a different damage formula. The superior sigil of air page is using the standard damage formula but the sigil of air page is ignoring the existence of weapon strength in the formula.
There are always going to be builds that do not work. I don’t think the devs’ goal was to allow playing without thinking.
For example trying to play condi with full berserker gear is going to work poorly.
A less extreme example would be taking a trait that gives you more damage for every boon on you but the build doesn’t generate any boons. It would be a terrible solo build but potentially usable for group content where you know other members will be supplying the boons.
They should fix the ridiculous pricing on some of the schematics instead slapping on more restrictions into the game.
Also your idea for restricting large guilds will also fail due to the multi guild system. If a guild actually had that much gold flowing around they could just get some members to create another guild and claim more guild halls and all of them would be producing aetherium in parallel. Now they have an even greater advantage.
If I am not going to be forging a lot of things I just use a mystic forge conduit instead.
You can avoid the NPCs at the forge by using it from the north side. You can avoid the NPCs at the back in LA by using the one on the east side.
You can get enough AR for that using https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Anguished_Tear_of_Alba but it requires the first fractal mastery.
Much easier (and cheaper) – though, the mats for the insignia are crazy (you will need 18 Maguuma lillies, and they aren’t cheap). Plus Hardened Leather – also not cheap. If you are making inscriptions (for Heavy Armor) is cheaper since orichalcum can be farmed via nodes. The leather can’t be, ’natch.
Huh. I was wondering why hardended leather was nuts. Incidentally you can promote leather squares in the mystic forge, which… miiiiight…. be worth it now?
Those maguuma lillies are crazy rare though, basically a case of harvesting “jungle plants” nodes and praying. There’s 2 nodes in the middle of Tarir, so I always do those just on the off-chance of some easy cash.
You would be wasting around 9g on average trying to promote thick leather into hardened. Selling the thick leather and using the gold to buy thick leather would be better.

is an official retailer and often has it available for a decent discount
Thief can’t use rifle. :P
Viable? Sure but Headshot and Blackpowder are more useful in many scenarios. Shadow Shot also provides a large amount of mobility.
When the best way to earn experience and map currency is to play a long event chain, you have to play the game on the game’s schedule, not your own schedule. That’s not Guild Wars. With this update, we split a lot of the rewards out of the event chains. You can drop in and drop out and still get rewarded.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-spring-quarterly-update/
I think this is intended by anet. and probably they still monitoring it. you can get HoT currency from everything now. and drop in and drop out(probably mean hopping map?) and still got reward.
For me this is better for casual player like me with limited play time. I hope if they plan to nerf it they won’t nerf it to dead again. That was a separate issue that pertained to all HoT maps.
Tarir multi is after meta event completes in AB. Then you taxi to other map that completed it and reloot over and over. Plus add in the fact you can switch characters to keep on looting is you run out of maps.
You will also run out of time ..
This can also be done on VB and TD. The major difference is that VB and TD doesn’t have the chests with a guaranteed rare (unless the large cargo does, I haven’t been paying attention to those).
“Did it work?” implies there was a motive.
If the motive was to push me to do jumping puzzles then no it failed.
If the motive was to push me to do WvW then no it failed.
If the motive was to push me away from completing 3 dailies, then it succeded.
There was mention of that somewhere. Might have been the AMA. They wanted people to have more gold but also avoid having that go mostly to the already rich players.
There isn’t even a native mac client yet(I know they are working on it).
The first question is how many disgruntled players will Anet have to deal with asking for money back or extra gems based on either change.
If they reduce the cost of gems I think most people would just spend less money to get what they want. Maybe some buy more gems but if they gave twice as many gems people would have to buy more than twice as many gems for Anet to see an increase in revenue from gems.
If the reduce the gem cost of items then more people would be able to buy the items by converting gems to gold and Anet gets less revenue from gem sales.
If there are actually enough people buying them at current prices that their complaints need to be a concern then there is probably no need to change the price.
Don’t you get a Central Tyria Mastery Point for it as well?
The first time you complete it.
I was already completing the dailies most of the time anyways, so the 2G is just a nice bonus.
As for the question of it causing inflation, 2G is rather small compared to how much gold is generated by farming gathering nodes.
The TP doesn’t generate gold. Any gold you obtain through it was generated somewhere else. Any transaction you complete also destroys some gold.
Meh … that checklist is going to get those check marks no matter what
In general, I don’t mind manually placing my AOE skills. However, there are some weapon skills that used to be where you attack your enemy, hit the skill button, and when it lands, it is AOE by default, but now are manual targeting, and that’s what I dislike. Honestly, Dragon’s Tooth for Ele Scepter? That AOE “retical” is so small as far as AOE goes that it is tedious to aim with. I preferred it when it was like any other attack. Don’t know why they changed it at all.
because it allows attacking where you want whenever you fee like it instead of having to wait for something to conveniently walk there. Less relevant for PvE. On the other hand in PvE attacking where the enemy will be rather than where they are currently standing is also sometimes useful. Aggro mob → cast Dragon’s Tooth in front of it. If you casted Dragon’s Tooth on where the mob was standing then you have to wait until it hits before you do anything else that might attract its attention otherwise it will probably walk out of DT’s range.
I have no idea what issue you are running into but I have never had any issues with trying to target my AoEs. Between Staff elementalist, Scepter/Focus elementist and Grenadier engineer there has been plenty of AoEs for me to throw around. Some necro staff too but I don’t like marks. On the other hand I was using wells until HoT and now my chronomancer uses them instead.
Teleports are a slightly different issue since those require a path check.
Problem Two: It seems that, if the target is moving, that the AoE cast targets the point the target occupies at the time the button press registers with the server. Depending on target speed and the size of the AoE, the target may well not be in the area once casting is complete. This is especially noticeable with longer cast time AoE’s.
I’m not sure if Problem 2 is really a problem, although I accept it is for the OP. In a faster moving MMO, particularly in PvP modes, being able to hit an AoE on a target regardless of its movement seems problematic. Also, unless I miss my guess at least half of the OP’s issue has to do with friendly AoE’s, as in heals.
Final Fantasy Tactics has a solution for that. When targeting an AoE on top of an enemy you could select to have the spell target the area they are standing or follow the target.
As for targeting friendlies, that is a matter of knowing your allies and having your allies trust you enough that they don’t end up running around like headless chicken.
Snap targetting is a lot like how AoEs was handled in GW1’s and I hated that for the entire time I played GW1.
Coins were also obtainable in SAB.
I mean you need the achievement to buy the furniture coins with baubles. Buying clouds with coins doesn’t require an achievement.
I find I spend a vast majority of my time in the old maps over HoT. Why? Meta-events in HoT are much too long and even though you get a lot of loot, the loot is unfulfilling due to RNG (Anet is notorious for this). Map design of HoT is simply annoying due to lack of viable waypoints, so you spend a lot of time running through mobs to get where you need to go, which is BOOORRRRIIINNNG. In Tyria you get where you need to in much shorter time, so you spend more productive time there.
I find myself playing mostly in HoT. Can’t think of a reason. Maybe better loot. HoT is almost like a 24/7 WB train except without being stuck on a schedule. I don’t bother with the meta in general though. I do participate if I happen to arrive on a map and it is going on.
Getting around HoT isn’t much of an issue after the April patch at least if you have all the relevant masteries.
You will need the achievements … unless they change it for next year.
Should be the same time next year. Were you talking to Moto and have the achievements? Otherwise you can’t buy the furniture coins. The coins are used to buy the clouds.
For the same reason blade shards, mystic forge stones, philosopher’s stones, and mystic crystals don’t: we have no idea.
Mystic Forge Stones aren’t really crafting materials.
Philosopher’s Stones and Mystic Crystals you would theorectically buy only as many as you need with maybe 2 or 3 leftovers.
The short story is: it’s not as simple as the OP suggests.
It could be. If ArenaNet only wanted to support fan translations, you wouldn’t be able to use the fonts anywhere else. They wouldn’t even need to implement the fonts themselves, only the ability to add your own, essentially supporting any language.
Translating the game is probably already possible. You could for example modify the strings in Gw2.dat and the existing font.
You could modify Gw2.dat but I am pretty sure that also happens to fall under the “violating the ToS” category.
Re: #4: I believe certain gear being not salvage bait (i.e., some Karma gear, leveling rewards) is because some players would farm it for mats/runes/sigils. Overall, though, the “feature” as is feels pretty chintzy.
They could set them to not give any crafting materials like those useless leveling items that drop in lv 80 zones.
I guess what I’m saying is that the feature “prevents” leveling a character for the mats salvaging the rewards would bring, but the game throws multiple gear boxes plus 3 crowbars for even more salvage bait at you for doing a 5 minute event in VB. Karma is, I suppose, another matter, because there’s a huge amount granted but not that much to do with it.
You could buy piles of obsidian to turn all these airship oil/dust/sparks into fulgurite which uh … I guess you have no use for either :P

There is also a WvW track.
You get geodes by doing events. Events during the sandstorm get you more. You also get a bit from the piles of silky sands.
The events also spawn in a fixed pattern at specific times so once you are familiar with them you could tag most if not all of them. If you are going there for geodes you should check LFG for an organized map. Higher tier maps will give more geodes per event.
The WvW/sPvP tracks are much better for the fossils since they remove the RNG aspect of obtaining them and then you can just focus on using geodes for the recipes instead of buying lockpicks.
Below is a reddit thread that has video examples of how to do it on each class, I believe. Basically, it’s just a lot easier on certain classes than on others, and you need to make use of any teleport or rush/movement utility skills you have (and also make sure you use the 1 skill that is set to you when you enter the heat room).
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/4da51p/video_guideheat_room_solo_on_69_classes/
There is also the “bring a Norn” option which seems missing there.
Most players don’t have Gem store mining tools. While it may be true that you get a lot of some materials from these, it is not reasonable to constrain general supply and require people to put in Gems in order to acquire materials. Even worse because the item in question is not always available either.
Both quartz and sprockets are also available as Map Bonuses.
The only way there’d be even a chance of that happening is if they limited it to a certain number. Or else people who have never crafted ascended items could just pop in and make entire ascended sets instantly, which would defeat the entire purpose of the time gate in the first place.
Where would the materials magically come from?
Their bank? The trading post? I’m unsure of what you mean :P
They can already pop in and make an entire ascended set instantly if they are buying the materials from the TP.
Looks like the same old super shiny shield

Meh … there are at least two other alternatives that makes this easy anyway.
I just wish there were more ways to get charge than completing maps or farming gold.. I’m always running out of them.
There is sPvP and WvW …
That one hero challenge place of power in Tangled Depths where you had to swim through a tunnel under Rata Novus and climb some rocks into a secret lab. Seriously on the map it shows that it’s in some Chak Tunnels… I spent hours running around those tunnels before I had to youtube it and was like “wtf? How am I supposed to find that without youtubing it?”. Stuff like that really annoys me.
You also go there as part of the story.
Through a portal which you don’t have access to in the open world. Unless I’m mistaken and have been going there the long way.
It shows that there is another layer of stuff besides the tunnels.
Charges were always easy to get in PvP and now also easy to get in WvW so basically it is just PvE exclusive players(and do not do the PvP dailies) that are left out …
PvE exclusive players have access to charges via map completing. While it may not be as quick as a reward track, it does lead to a good many charges, and offers options to farm them relatively quickly (via city completion).
That is either not repeatable or requires a spare character slot.
The above stated is a viable solution, Anet, but will you implement it?
I doubt it, simply because allowing an unknown number of skins unlocked per equipment piece would create a huge data overhead. While it sounds like a nice qol feature, I suspect that the purely technical limitations of data storage would make it expensive to the point of being not worth it.
Maybe a few hundred bytes per piece of equipment. Most smart phones will probably have enough storage for that bit of extra space.

The issue with minis is that with the wardrobe there is no point in getting multiples.
