People are really asking to receive less rewards?

I like the way it is now, and receive the rewards per character.

It’s more that they want the rewards sooner, because they carelessly deleted a character.

In the world of Guild Wars? Never delete your first character, and never delete anything, it

always comes back around to bite you, every single time.

Back in GW1 I had to delete and remake my mesmer because at the time that was the only way to get those faces/hairstyle. Then a few months later they came out with the equivalent of the makeover kit thing.

When Will the PVE Berserker Meta Change?

This conversation intrigued me because I recently tried different builds, including conditions. I crafted a whole set of Vipers and Sinister armour and weapons. I was exited to try conditions in open world… but I discovered pretty soon why people have said don’t bother with them in open world. Sure, they do kill, but slowly. You can solo a condition build, but it takes more running around, dodging, reapplying conditions, waiting for things to die. I went back to my glass cannon berserker build and even in HOT it’s more effective and more fun. :/

Heh that is a bit amusing and also misleading.

Just because you have on condition stats won’t guarantee that it is a good condition build. Condition builds also require ramp up time so anything that dies quickly is going to feel slower.

And like I siaed, i think that 4 years early access and freebies is enough honor. they can make GW2 only players work hard for what you got for free, why do care so much?

We didn’t get it for free. We bought GW1 (many of us all three campaigns and then the expansion), and we also bought GW2. We also farmed (mats, gold, minis, missions, vanquishing and HM, pvp, etc.) to earn all of our HoM points. No one got them for free.

We also paid more than 3 times as much.

I don’t know if it is or isn’t (though keep in mind that if you have done the Golem on one alt, doing it on another in the same daily period will mean no big chest). But you don’t have to be using your revenant to get the panel, it should drop for any alt.

On the other hand, last I heard the armor soul binds to the alt it is completed on, so now that you only have one thing left you probably do want to use the rev to make sure, assuming you need the armor stats for the rev. If not, let it drop on any alt, and transmute the look onto your rev’s legs.

The soulbinding issue was fixed a few months ago.

What amazes me, is that conversation is still going after 3+ years.
One of the main reasons that we got gear like Viper’s and Sinister’s is because of this very conversation. Zerk gear was WAY to prevalent, and conditions really kinda sucked. Which is also why they changed them, previously there was only a 25 stack limit. Which really hurt any condi builds, as condi damage would get overridden by incidental condis from a zerk build.

But in any case, Zerk has bene the PvE meta since forever. Part of the reason that it won’t change any time soon is that many of the “older” players have already invested in beserker gear on many of their toons, and see no reason to change. Plus, newer players coming in look to the older players and see berserker gear everywhere, so they follow suit, instead of finding out what works best for them.
The reality is that you can complete any open world content, and most dungeons (exluding raids) in whatever build/gear you want. I was soloing dungeons with an axe/axe valk warrior, and rabid necro (even after I was told that it would be near impossible because those didn’t output enough damage).

Viper and Sinister are also less accessible. Berserker is easily crafted, bought from TP/karma/dungeon.

Why not just have a system where if you don’t participate in an event for … 10 minutes you get kicked? Rather than it be based on “are you moving”, then the people only using the crafting stations for more than 10 minutes will just get booted and queues will keep moving?

90%+ of the time there are not queues on most servers (I am not T1) so I don’t see why you have to try to patch in a pathetic fix for only T1 servers during peak hours that makes fewer people enter WvW in all other Tiers.

You know how many times I have been in WvW (with no queue) crafting and I see callouts for defends and go help? It happens a lot and now it’s gone.

Are you suggesting they kick scouts in towers? YIKES.

I would rather keep our scouts and kick inactive players from the WvW count all together. They just Disconnect WvW from PvE and players lose WvW server and not counted as part of population if they dont play in WvW enough and have to rejoin a WvW server when they want to play WvW again If it is full then, at least it will be full of WvW players.

  • Crafters added to the population that was used to determine how much server transfer costs to that server are and what servers they are linked with. Queues are not even as important as that issue.

They also need to add server wide chat and have cities server based to be able to receive recruitment and call outs.

Separately people who use WvW purely for crafting from those who participate should be trivial. They might already keep track of that for the purpose distributing the bonus world chests.

Pls give us the stations back. We have and had never problems with ppl crafting at these stations and queue times on our server. Why not start a new survey for that? I think its just a small amount of ppl complaining about 2 ppl staying there. The big problem are ppl afking at the spawn when we really have a queue.

It isn’t just about Queues though. It adds to the numbers that determine which servers are linked and how much it costs to transfer to your server.

If they add crafting tables to HotM, PvE can access them just as easy and not offset the server population count.

Players can conveniently go to lions arch or home city for all their crafting needs…

Yea they want somewhere more convenient. Most don’t go to LA anymore since they made it a pain to access everything. It was actually better while it was blown up. haha!

Ebonhawke in Fields of Ruin

I can’t understand this decision. All my characters are in Southsun Cove to mine the Orichalcum node there. It is more time spending to travel to a city for crafting.

Please give us an alternative who satisfied all people, as example in the guild halls.

A good example on why the removal was justified. Crafting stations in the guild hall would be OK i guess as a substitute.

That is going to be a 600g upgrade followed by whatever the crafting station upgrades cost or possibly a separate upgrade for each.

I think part of the problem is Anet balances the game around zerk gear. Or at least I think they do maybe? Look at the hp pools of even just trash mobs. It can take a while to kill them in PVT gear for example depending on the class I would have to add. Or perhaps those HP pools are so large because they expect more than 1 person to attack and kill a creature.

They are just overly fond of HP sponges. Mordremoth would be an example of this. Did that in berserker gear. It still had plenty of HP long after the fight stopped providing much interest. Just a consequence of people who think long fight equals difficult fight.

I think it’s worth noting that not every gear has to be part of the meta to be used. Zerk might be ideal for people who know the encounters, know how to use evasive skills, and know when to dodge, but I’ve spent enough time helping friends up off the floor that I hesitate to make them even more glassy. The boss might get more swings in because we’re not killing it so quickly, but one-hit-ko’s aren’t the only thing that kill casual players.

Guaranteed 1 hit KOs also make defensive stats completely worthless.

To players really concerned about meta gear, very little of the open world is “hard,” but there are plenty of players who struggle with Orr, and take a trip through Verdant Brink at night with some serious gravitas.

That’s how I view gear in open world and dungeons.

New to the game? Not very good at using CDs or dodging? Use gear for more defense or healing.

Feel better adjusted? Take more of a risk and start going glass cannon

I just have some characters that I can play without having to spend as much effort/concentration.

Now, as I said that’s not something I want them to put into GW2. Too much of the game is built with the assumption of the fast regen, and would possibly need rebalanced. BUT, it got me thinking… You don’t drop out of combat as long as you have a debuff on you, so debuffs keep you from getting your fast regen. What if there was a dungeon, raid, or even zone that gave you a constant debuff that served to keep that regen from kicking in? Needing to heal between fights would, like in CoH, suddenly become an issue. Saving your personal heal would be like saving the Rest power, you don’t want to be stuck waiting for it to recharge all the time, right?

If they put such an area into the game, do you think people would be willing to try it?

That is already in the game. Not only does it prevent regen it even applies a degen but the behavior does not progress as you describe.

FF14 on a controller is terrible. I don’t know how people play that way. So awkward.

i can confirm

i tried both (even tried FF on console first) and the PC controls just feel 100x easier to handle and more precise
Not even considering the fact that you can switch to stuff like Teamspeak or your browser easily and manage that or look up stuff like guides on fanwebsites / wiki and switch between game and website all the time without taking longer than 1 second everytime you switch
Inventory management is also the HORROR to me on consoles
not being able to draw and drop stuff super quickly … i hate that

but still i would have no problem with Gw2 coming out on consoles or getting controller support on PC

I just think if it comes out on consoles it MUST have its own servers
because console players would get rekt in pvp
(just alone teleport skills get aimed and used in a split second on PC which is not possible that fast on controller)
They would drag down other players in PvE groups too probably

And i think it woul djust make their own game experience worse if every PC player is better than them… therfor separated servers needed in my opinion

Also because update rate would probably be different.

That limit shouldn’t apply if both people are on each other’s friends’ list yet it still applies. I ran into that not long ago because I send all my reclaimed weapons to a friend.

the limit also shouldnt apply if both people are in the same group as often group members send food & slaying potions to their other members when doing dungeons etc…

Then the gold sellers would insist on adding you to their friend’s list briefly, or grouping up in order to make their transaction… completely negating the intended function of email suppression.

Do you have any other suggestions that wouldn’t cause this? ’Cause, honestly, I think we could all get behind gold-spamming measures that minimally impact the player base… something every MMO has been trying to do for a very long time.

scribing is still too expensive. Not having a system like for guild upgrades where guildies can donate mats for decorations the guild has decided apon makes it a solo endevaor, pretty much. ANd currently in my 250ish sized guild its a personal thing. EVen a step above basic Decorations cost too much. BLame the sky high T4 prices of cloth, ore, leather and wood. A scribe with out their guilds support means no decorating for you and levelign scribing becomes pointless.

I leveled my scribe after the patch. Wasn’t that bad but I had plenty of the fibers. Spent around maybe 100g which is not far off from the other crafting professions.

I think the idea was to have guild support, but the reality is many don’t have it, which makes scribing outrageously expensive. and i agree on the brown dye problem. the color of the pigment should change tier to tier.

Brown pigments are only used for the lowest tier. That was in the April patch.

Mail Suppression

That feeling when you send 2 mails out and are then suppressed for an hour.

This has been an issue since launch, is it ever going to be resolved or at least throttled back? I’m not even asking for much, maybe let me send 5 mails out at least before suppressing me, this is incredibly ridiculous how it is now.

I feel awful for those people who honestly try to host a fun event and mail out prizes and they get suppressed instantly. Maybe Anet should just go the whole way and ban them for gold selling as well.

  1. This hasn’t been an issue since launch, because the current limits were added afterward.
  2. The limit after sending 2 emails in a row is ~30 seconds (seems to vary a bit — I’ve waited as little as 10 sec and as long as 45); it is never an hour unless you keep trying to press send without waiting.
  3. As noted above, the limit is setup to prevent spamming by gold sellers — it succeeds in preventing them from annoying more than two people before they are /reported and suspended.

There’s no question that it’s a pain and I wish it was more flexible. However, I accept that it’s the price we pay for the fact that some of our fellow players choose to buy gold from Real Money Traders — if that advertising didn’t succeed, the RMTs would stop doing it.

That limit shouldn’t apply if both people are on each other’s friends’ list yet it still applies. I ran into that not long ago because I send all my reclaimed weapons to a friend.

Has ANet Forgotten the Casual Gamers?

GW1 never supported the casual play style as the game was all about builds. Since casuals are more likely to use random builds, the content could become nearly impossible. With the right setup however, the game was trivial, but casual players generally don’t put in a lot of effort, follow guides, research or etc.

That was true until build templates got introduced at while point it was just a couple clicks to load a build or you see what you were missing for a particular build.

Until ANet changes the rune system, I don’t really care about obtaining legendary armor; sigils are already a hassle for leg-weaps. Also, since I don’t like the vast majority of armor skins in this (or any) game, I probably won’t be inclined to worry about the looks either.

As a result, I’m not all that concerned about whether leg-armor is gated behind raids in 2016. I assume that at some point, there will be a second set of legendary armor obtained through some other mechanic.

Especially with how ugly the pre looks and then there is the silliness with the female charr and asura versions …

Why is everything so unfriendly to melee?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khisanth.2948

Khisanth.2948

The only mobs that annoy me in HoT melee wise are the Mushroom King near the entry to TD and the bigger Arrowheads. The former has an annoying AoE damage ability that lasts through most of his fight and the latter roll around too much for your endurance to keep up. It leads to boring encounters, especially on my Daredevil, whose ranged options are crappy. It feels like they promote boring “11111111” gameplay instead of dynamic combat. Strangely enough, the shroom king spawned by the HP is much better than the one in TD.

While we’re discussing HoT mobs, how do people deal with Veteran Bristlebacks? They’re uncommon outside of Bristleback Chasm, but I find them really annoying to fight, since they just spam you to death with their ranged volley attack and have a ton of HP. You can reflect their attacks, but is there a way to deal with them without that? Their design seems to be lackluster.

Meh that description is also fit for smokescales, the frogs, most chak, rolling devils, champion rolling devils, anything that uses a rushing knockback as their default attack. Overall HoT mobs are not especially difficult but their design and implementation feel sloppy. They just hit harder and occasionally have a usable break bar. The Veteran Bristlebacks would be an example of occasionally usable break bar. You could unload every CC you have on it and the bar would still be there but it is not like it matters much since it will regen in a few seconds anyway. Having the attack is fine, having that as its only attack is bad design.

My problem in HOT is the unavoidable attacks. For example when you engage onto a smokescale, it goes untargetable and teles to you, taking off half your health. Nothing you can do, be you melee or ranged, to avoid this. The Ogotl are similar in that they can go invis and hit you for large chunks of health while still invis and thus you can’t really avoid it. Your only hope against them is blocks or reflects, which makes it required to have at least one of those slotted in HOT maps even if they aren’t normally a part of your rotation.

There is a mastery for the stealthed frogs and snipers.

As for the wyverns … who the hell thought it was a good idea to have the wings obscure some much stuff? -_-

Dungeons can now be repeated over and over again without losing the gold reward earned per track since the rewards got moved to a repeatable achievement. That’s 5 gold per 8 paths run. That’s a lot of gold. From what I recall, speed runners in dungeons can do a path in about 5-10 minutes. That’s 40 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes to generate 5 gold on top of the other rewards they get from dungeons themselves via the rewards from them.

It actually seems to be 5gold per 7 paths now …

I was at 7/8 completed. Did an aetherpath run. Got the reward chest but dungeon frequenter is already at 1/8 done with aetherpath checked off.

It does require unique runs you can’t just repeat the same quick paths. There are some quick paths but I don’t think there are 8 of them. On the other hand story modes also count.

There are two separate issues here:

  1. Why does ANet think that requiring people to invest 5 or 10 hours in WvW (for a legendary) is good for the game? What was broken that this change fixes? Are reward tracks even the best way to gate the Gift?
  2. Why did ANet decide to implement this change in philosophy for the game with so little communication?

I like WvW (not as much as dedicated WvWers, though). I am not going to have any trouble earning gifts of battle. Further, I think there could be some very good reasons to require small amounts of WvW and perhaps PvP and other often-ignored bits of the game. So I’m not against the idea.

I am, however, completely floored by ANet’s decision to just drop this on us in this way.

  • If it’s good for the game, then take the time to explain why and how it fits into the game’s broader philosophy and road map.
  • Offer some dates for when this change will be implemented and what other changes we can expect and approximately when.

tl;dr once again, ANet undermined their their recent progress, good will, and even the great changes in this week’s patch… with a poorly-executed implementation of something that needn’t have been controversial (or at least, not nearly as much).

Unless the person buying already did some WvW previously they would probably need to spend similar amounts of time in there to reach rank 14 before they can buy the gift even without this change. I guess my point is that people should have spent a bit more time voicing their issue when that change went in … although I think that one might have been completely silent. At least this was mentioned in the patch notes.

While maintaining maximum participation level it would take roughly 9 hours to get one of these.

It is also possible to get it without actually participating in WvW by doing Big Spender but the price increase to 1,200 Badges of Honor and the number of days becomes a minimum of 80xlength of each daily cycle.

The other thing is just put them in at different orders. The forge can behave weirdly especially if their is a bit of lag. It seems the recipes requires communicating with the server.

Reward Tracks Suggestion

That would be solving the wrong problem. If any work is going to be put into that it might as well be to allow people to select what the next track will be and an option to set the current to repeat until changed if it is a repeatable track.

did you record it and review the recorded video frame by frame to look for the damage? that’s what i would have done to verify it.

I used the combat log to check and verify.

Unfortunately the combat log has always been unreliable for leech/life steal so that is not a very meaningful thing to do.

Perhaps, if you posted your query in the Bugs sub-forum, the Devs responsible may see your concerns.

Good luck.

Already a couple of threads there …

It will count for both assuming the other people choose to accept credit but only the person starting the instance(the instance owner) will be able to make any of the choices. Accepting credit also means they will be stuck with your choices on that character.

[Suggestion] Adventure rewards

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I think the issue with adventures is that all of them have the same rewards. The current rewards are fine for Salvage Pit, but not for some of the others. ANet would have to remake the whole Adventure reward system, and that’s probably not worth the time.

Each level of completion for each adventure has a different chest so it shouldn’t be too difficult to add things to specific chests.

One other thing. If this apparently amazing raid team they have can make all this raid content, why can’t a small fractal team pump out more fractals?

I mean, they are supposed to be much smaller in scope and complexity, but still 5 man challenging content right? Heck, can we even just have the raid team moved over to make a few new fractals every now and then if they are so good at content creation? Or have them obersee the fractal team or something anyway.

Someone has to work on the next expansion :P
