It is not at any of the cantles. It is on the tree(on the way up to one of the cantles) near the chest.
I’m missing something. You could only put utility infusions into an amulet before. They changed the name, but that’s all you can put there now as well. So, no change other than the name. ???
It was also possible to put versatile infusions.
yea it was, but not anymore. The Neck slot is now worthless when only considering Agony.
I dont understand this move really, it was the first easy ascended that all players could obtain and get a +5 base AR going.
The Potion change is nice, but I do not want to have to rely on a consumable to make up for the +7 loss.
Much easier(but possibly more expensive) to get higher AR in all the other slots though.

… and now you can just buy them if you have HoT
If you have the Follows Advice Mastery, INFUZ-5959 will sell you Vials, Globs, and Shards of Condensed Mist Essence, as well as Agonized Essences and Infusion Extraction Devices.
That might also help the TT population).
Hardly. The only way to fix that is to have the event start giving out loot commensurate to what effort is required to actually complete the event. I mean, look how easy teq is, and the gobs of loot you get out of that.
Meh … if it is just for loot you are better off just chain running the itzel hunting events in VB. Sometimes you can even do two of those events at the same time. That is a lot more reward for the effort than teq or TT. The only down side is requiring HoT.
Why do Veteran Bristlebacks have breakbars?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Khisanth.2948
The break bar isn’t really the problem it just makes the problem more obvious than on other mobs. What is the real problem? Well what happens if it didn’t have the break bar? You interrupt the attack and 2 seconds later it will go right back to doing exactly the same thing. What is the actual difference between having a break bar and not having one? At least with the break bar you do 50% more damage to it after the stun.
They are the easiest back item to get that has an infusion slot. There are other back items you can just buy from TP or with karma.
If you intend to do high level fractals you will need to get ascended gear anyway. You might as well get that out of the way first which will also get you enough infusion slots to do higher scale fractals without having to worry about mist essences.
The easiest thing to do is actually getting HoT so you can attune rings which is functionally equivalent to infusing and gives access to +7 versatile infusions.
Are you sure you are gliding on the ley lines and not one of the many things that resemble ley lines? Gliding on the ley lines pushes you very forcefully so gliding against their direction shouldn’t be possible.
There is the PoI in south lane that requires ley line gliding to get to so if you got there without taking a mesmer portal you should have gotten it. It is either “Ley Line Overlook” or “Ley Line Boneyard”.
Asking people to wait 3 months for their rewards is problematic. Also the people who would have the most to gain from that would be TP players rather than WvW players.
Rewards seems like a great idea to entice people until the supply causes the value of the item to plummet and they your rewards are no longer rewarding. Clovers are also worth for anyone not making a legendary.
All of HoT is meant to be lv80 content. As an expansion you are expected to have at least a full set of exotic gear. That part isn’t really unreasonable. 25k HP is relatively high but passive defenses in GW2 will only get you so far, active avoidance is still very important. In the case of HoT mobs crowd control abilities(both hard and soft) can also be very useful.
Khisanth, will that be true even if there is no fog? The fog only shows up if the White Lady is present after being triggered in the day time, and seeing the fog is the clue to look for her. I haven’t done this collection, so I don’t know, but “Fog’s Damp” suggests you do need the fog to be there.
Day time? I went there at the start of the night. There was fog but I don’t remember seeing any event or the NPC around for it. Just walked down the small stair and got the collection item.
The collection item is not related to the event. You just need to show up at the cemetery at the right time to get the collection item.
Unidentified Dyes are also part of the map bonus system. You just need to do events in the map to get those.
Exactly, if Norn were supposed to look like that, then the women should as well. The women look just like tall human women, whereas the men do have some odd proportions. One thing that bugs me is how their necks stick forward so much (and are also very short necked). I can never imagine making a male Norn because none of the design choices appeal to me. But I’m more than happy to make an overweight (as much as is possible in this game) male Human, because at least they don’t look oddly built.
I think you need to watch some more nature documentaries.
Meh … the game doesn’t really need another item to help with trolling.
Long hair sounds great until you start seeing your character’s hair clipping through everything constantly.
Since the Ultimate edition is not on sale I am not sure what is so surprising.
Anyway, there’s no way to tell when he is about to launch the spikes at you, so you basically have to guess when he’s about to do it. And if you see that you’re about to get attacked, you have about half a second of reaction time to dodge. That doesn’t really make sense that the boss can be this difficult in a level 20 area.
It’s easy to tell since he uses it more or less constantly. They suffer from the same problem pretty much every other mob in GW2. They have a very small pool of skills and either they use 1 hard hitting attack constantly or they use 1 very weak skill constantly which is the determining factor in their difficulty.
My Astralaria is currently being used by my necromancer. Off hand axe on ranger is useful for the pull and the projectile reflect.
They are meant to be crafted, but you probably don’t like that either.
The problem with that is they only crafted into Amalgmated Gemstones which only matters if you are making a legendary or into Fulgurite. Fulgurite is required to craft the new HoT stats but it can also be completely skipped by crafting a core state then converting the stat. It might even save you some map specific currency to do that.
The other source of the problem is that they made the insignia/inscription require 25/50 fulgurite while making them drop more than 1 at a time. They did the same with the other ascended crafting materials like dragonite and bloodstone dust.
I can only think of 2 reasons for doing that.
1) to waste space so people would have to be buy more expanders/bank tabs
2) try to make people feel like they are getting more stuff without actually giving more stuff
Everything which can also be considered nothing.
Pay the price and buy them.
If you are offering less than the asking price, you should be patient.
Given how low the supply is on those,I don’t see why anyone would fulfil any order, ever.
Depends on how many the OP needs. According to the TP’s interface there are only 219 available right now.
This is poor design in general. You shouldn’t have to worry about character level; RNG bags should be RNG and be insensitive to who opens them.
Agreed. But sadly with the insane amount of t3/t4 material that legendary and ascended crafting needs, people having a guaranteed way to obtain gear that will salvage into those materials is not a bad thing.
This design benefits the community a lot more than these comments suggest. First, it gives the play more control over loot. Second, it makes it easier for the economy to adjust to changes in demand. People want more T3? Price goes up and people are encouraged to open relevant bags on T3 toons.
Keep in mind that the vast majority of GW2 loot (as in any game) is fodder — it’s meant for salvage or vendor or to trade with others, because as humans, we prefer to always be getting something rather than nothing (during the drought between the coveted drops).
That does not seem to account for the need to have a spare character. Requiring a character to stop gaining level also goes against the rest of the game’s design where it tries to throw exp at you at every opportunity.
As to why they haven’t implemented the feature the OP mentions…
It’d be my guess it’s because players can already look in the wardrobe feature in the bank to ID skins they don’t have.
Although the skin name and the item name are not always the same.
I’ve not run into that, so I’ll have to take your word for it.
The skins on precursors before collections was added would be an easy example. Those skins are now on the “Perfected” set of weapons.
Hmm This is doable through the API. Slightly surprised if this hasn’t already implemented by one of the sites that makes use of the API keys.
These things are annoying but there is no point in carrying aetherkeys, reclaimed plates or chak eggs around with you.
Eh … pocket raptors need some bug fixes.
The scouts that require using the warbler is also a bit unintuitive. You see them and run up to them but you still have to use the warbler before they talk to you. If there is an event nearby they might not want to talk to you even after you use the warbler(I ran into this yesterday, there was a nearby downed chopper supply gathering event) and then it looks like yet another bug in the game.

Banners remain for an hour, so you should cycle the toons first and harvest afterward — from your description, it sounds as if you grab buff, harvest, swap toons, repeat (I apologize if I misunderstood).
The “best” map to choose is your home borderland — except right after reset (and occasionally from Friday night to ~Sun night during prime time, depending on your world). Those maps are persistent, regardless of party membership and usually have decent loading times.
PS Your GH should work just fine except during g-mish — unless > 5-10 people are entering/leaving in a short period, it should persist, too. Still borderlands worked before guild halls existed and continue to work for this.
GH doesn’t seem to persist. Tried dropping a banner when we first got the GH. After leaving and re-entering it was gone.
That whole sequence is a demonstration on how not to design a game that you expect players to replay.
That’s what I find confusing. The article on the defiance bar says that on two of the three stages, the character is immune to CC abilities. In the third one, the CC abilities don’t actually do their intended effect, and just lower the bar. Eventually stunning them and temporarily increasing damage received. So what’s the point in using CC at all? Why is it so important? Why can’t I just ignore CC and focus on DPS instead?
I’ve seen people say how important it is that people have CC abilities and damage break bars, but I can’t see why. Also, if you’re just running around solo, and break bars require constant CCs to decrease, how many abilities do you need to be able to keep chaining it whilst others cooldown? Each one has to replace an ability that could be used to deal damage, so it seems like an odd trade off.
The bar can only be broken when it is blue. Not all mobs have it up all the time. This is also why you shouldn’t be randomly spamming your skills.
Breaking the bar results in the mob taking 50% more damage in most cases. It is very unlikely you can achieve the equivalent damage just focusing on DPS. Breaking the bar is also important for various mobs. For example to prevent the wyvern matriarch from flying off. Allowing it to fly off allows it to do a lot more damage to players while at the same time greatly reducing the amount of time you have to attack it AND you are losing out on the 50% more damage. Breaking the bar on certain chak will remove their retaliation/projectile deflect bubble.
The safest option is salvaging the cheapest weapon or armor. Amulets, accessory and backpieces have a random chance. None from rings.
GW2 is not like your comparison MMO:
- not that many skill buttons to use
- Has a mini map constantly visibleThat other MMO has skill cards that show up on the skills too right? Those aren’t clutter they’re useful information. The target enemy’s HP and description of what it does are also useful information. The skill cards aren’t even a problem unless you’re mouse-clicking skills.
GW2’s UI is fairly good for the amount of information you get from it and fairly clean too. It’s cleaner than Final Fantasy 14’s UI at least.
Have you ever played a game where you had the option to move around and resize and hide UI elements to your liking?
I have. Actually FF14 let me do that and the first Guildwars had the option. Startrek online lets me move them too. I’ve simply never felt the need to move the UI elements around. That said i’ve had the target nameplate get in the way of casting spells sometimes in GW2. Beyond that i don’t feel the UI is cluttered.
That had made me want to move the nameplate sideways from time to time but it’s more like a bug that has been around since launch. Skill targeting shouldn’t get obstructed by the UI. Mostly a problem with very tall enemies like the statue of dwayna.

If by key binds you mean the ui then push cntl shift H at the same time.
Or set a keybind to toggle the UI off so you don’t have to hit 3 keys instead of 1. I use F11 for my toggle as it is near Print Screen, makes screenshots sans UI fast and easy.
I think people were wondering why you didn’t want 1 – 5 showing in your 1 through 5 skill icons, for example, or r t y u i if you use those instead since the UI will display the chosen keybind in the skill slot. Your sig does say you’re a PvP streamer, hence speculation on you not wanting viewers to know your keyboard setup.
Hmm the life if a secretive narcissist must be tough …
My keybinds are displayed but it is just the default. I don’t actually use those keybinds though. GW2 allows you to have two sets of keybinds. The ones I actually use is the second set.
The Gift of Maguuma is weighed a little less in the crafting of a HoT legendary. The Gift of Insights is more comparable to the Gift of Exploration. It requires you to max out the four mastery lines.
In any case, for the amount of work involved in world map completion to get the Gift of Exploration, you DO get two of them, so it’s sort of moot.
So you can divide the number of core maps in half for a better comparison.
Gift of Insights is also closer to the Obsidian Shards it replaces than the Gift of Exploration since the masteries doesn’t matter after the first weapon. The elephant in the room the OP is ignoring is the Crystalline Ingots …
When HoT first came out the currency along with the sparks/oil/dust was also pretty grindy to get, especially the sparks.
I need it for HOPE Vol. 4 collection and its bugged all time… Please fix it..
Do it after patch drops, might be your only chance as everything will be reset, normally events only bug after they are first completed, though I’ve know this event to have been bugged for a good 6 months or so before HoT launched.
The latest is probably different from the previous in this case. In the previous times freeing the soldiers didn’t increment the counter. Right now it increments the counter but stops at 6. I suspect someone accidentally deleted one of the cocoons when they added the bandit spawn.
Donating extra minis … armies of Queen Jennah :P
I haven’t really paid much attention to events. I am more annoyed with the way the warbler works. You have to use the warbler then talk to the NPC even though they are standing right next to you otherwise they pretend you don’t event exist.
Did you do the full chain? She only becomes a vendor after defeating the risen king.
I’ve had issues with mobs interfering with story quests, too. For example, the quest in Verdant Brink where you have to use the horn to call out the hidden frog scouts, one of those markers led me to an area with a lot of mushroom enemies that kept hitting me hard.
There are only two areas with mushrooms during that part. The first part has a decent amount of space to maneuver. The second part in the cave can be avoided just by approaching from the other direction(Bongo’s camp).
Also I think dual classing is a bit “wasteful”(couldn’t think of a better description). Since you would need to balance every combination anyway then you might as well go with a system like Path of Exile (https://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree) where every class could theoretically reach any node but there is a different opportunity cost for each. A Ranger could get the +1 curses node but is probably better off sacrificing a ring, boot or amulet slot instead.
Heh … dual classing would be so broken at the point that it would require redoing all professions from the ground up.
Putting that in the LFG would fall under LFG abuse. That will definitely get you in trouble. Spamming in map chat isn’t likely to end any better.
Profession and combat improvements are also marketable, generate interest and increase retention rates.
Uh really? I don’t ever remember seeing any company trying to get interest in their game by saying “come play our game, we have a new balance patch out!”.
There are a number of mmo who have made big class improvements and used it as a marketing tool because it sparks interest…
Are you saying that if Anet got serious about revamping professions they wouldn’t highlight it? Revamping professions means that it improves the user experience in pve, raids, wvw, spvp, for esports…
Players have begged for years for improvements, and many have had a lot of issues with professions design and combat elements, so making big improvements is sellable to current and old players. It’s also something to take note of for new players… Any big changes would be noteworthy, and I could easily pluck a whole bunch mmo news to show you, but I’m not going to spam stuff from other games here…
And if you think profession improvements are not important, then it’s useless to respond to you and get this thread off track.
Let’s get back on topic of traits here.
The need to “revamp” anything implies a pretty serious previous screw up. The more things affected, the bigger the previous problem. I don’t think that is a great way to advertise any product. “Hey we have completely revamped our car’s design. It no longer randomly explodes.” It would also take a very shameless person to do that. Actually the April patch could be categorized as this type of fix.
Also change does not equal improvement as we have seen already …
Profession and combat improvements are also marketable, generate interest and increase retention rates.
Uh really? I don’t ever remember seeing any company trying to get interest in their game by saying “come play our game, we have a new balance patch out!”.
On the other hand for VB/TD(DS also but that is a bit different) you don’t need complete the meta to loot the majority of the chests on the map.
The only thing I don’t like bout the system is elites taking a slot. I was hoping they would get a panel of their own.
As for traits themselves, there does need to be a new overhaul. Some trait lines for some professions are a mess (warriors), and it’s time to drop specific weapon traits and instead move on to group (instead of a trait affecting ONLY great swords, make it “slashing” and have the slashing group contain great swords, axes, etc.
I can see this helping with build diversity, since now you aren’t locked into one weapon.
You want elite specs to use their own slot? O_o
That would be some serious power creep.
On the one hand the original had more flexibility.
On the other hand the original had some very trashy traits. Great for showing off a big number of permutations possible but in practice it was a much smaller number.
This.
The one thing the older trait system had was being able to dip into more than 3 trait lines. Useful in some edge cases, but we’re better off with fewer, more potent traits.
There is still stuff like Powerful Synergy. I still haven’t found any compelling reason for using it.
