Good evening folks.
I Am looking for a pvp ranger build that is best at only surviving 1v1.
It doesnt have to do much damage itself, and it doesnt have to be an efficient bunker/point holder or efficient in 5v5 at all.
Just show me something that just absolutely cant die, or at least what comes as close as possible with the ranger class to that.
Very interested in what you experienced master rangers come up with!

Please add:
Owning a corrupted weapon does not unlock the corresponding etched weapon and owning mad memories:complete edition does not unlock mad memories even though by Arenanets promises of how the wardrobe will work it should. (Like with the spinal backpiece and Legendaries)
Im not sure about similar pieces like the eye of rodgort and the fractal backpiece because i dont own these but i guess they dont unlock either

Did you play at launch? I would do Cof p1 and average close to 10g per hour with a good party.

FGS has returned to what it always was: A running skill. The best running skill, able to outrun thieves and warriors alike. Only cost a elite slot and 180cd.
Now tornado came out worse from this. That skill is not going to be used in any situation (pve, wvw, pvp, farming). It belong in the pile that conjure earth shield sits in, and if I see a player bringing it, I will whisper them with the advice to use SOMETHING ELSE.
What exactly? Because from now on I have no viable Elite on my Ele.

Interesting to see thieves as high as they are coming in. I love my thief but whenever I’m in a group on a different toon I hear peeps complaining about them in pve about being to squishy and people not knowing how to play them.

This is the new “mount” threads isn’kitten
Every day there’s a new thread asking for the Tribal armor to come back. If not tribal, the other armor sets that are “gone”. (Then again, the search function is really terrible)
Anet never said anything about those sets, and they’ll probably never will.
But unlike mounts there is no reason to not just add the set back. Doesnt even take any work.
If enough people remind them on a weekly basis they cant ignore that for all eternity

Except for guild missions to get people to where you are on a map, or even see if other people are on the same map…can you see my commander tag. Coordinating multiple events in Dry Top. They were pretty good for the Scarlet Invasions too.
Commander Tags help people who don’t know find out where to be. Are you suggesting the only people who don’t know where to be play WvW?

Ive done more than enough Tequatl, Wurm and Guild Missions.
All commander tags do is promote braindead play and prevent learning.
Ive seen people that have done tequatl multiple times yet dont have actually a kitten clue where they have to stand if there is no tag out. Plus new players dont have to ask things either and can go straight to the tags, lowering player communication.
Life sure is easy if you dont have to think for your own and can just follow a tag like glue. But it shouldnt be easy, you have seen the disastrous results of that behavior at the crown pavillion. Nowadays if you dont have tags it is almost impossible to properly manage pugs in a large scale encounter, but they arent needed at all, the average player simply forgot how to think.
If there would never been tags in pve i can assure you it wouldnt be a problem at all and the average skilllevel of the people regarding larce scale encounters would be a lot higher
So yes, i suggest large scale combat to be for people who can think, communicate and learn on their own, aka for “people who know”

Commander Tag is there for WvWvW. It should’ve been disabled in PvE long, long time ago.
I might add that the price won’t change much. People will still buy it and use as a vanity item.
Commander Tag progress should be done with successful actions, badges and WvWvW voting once a week/month.
I just gave examples of instances in which the commander tag is used in PvE. It is not an exclusively WvW function. Players with this narrow view on it hurt the game because they don’t see the bigger picture and force the devs down the wrong path.
There is zero need for commander tags in tequatl, wurm or any sort of pve instance

Items that require you to do specific content is exactly what this game needs, please dont change it.
Next time an item that needs 500 badges of honor or a pvp reward track if you like, im all for it.

as a primarily pvp player i’d be kinda insulted if PVEers were given our unique reward but still get to keep all of theirs.
What are you talking about, no one said that the set should be available in pve, its about having the kitten set available at all (which it isnt).
It would be so easy so implement yet they rather make new tracks that reward you with piles of sand than the missing armor sets.

They dont care about anger pets, dont get your hopes up. There are tons of creatures that would make good pets but we got zero in almost 2 years

I want unique trade-able items like in Guild Wars. In Guild Wars it was so much fun to open your character and see you had a present waiting wondering what you were going to get. Getting items you could trade, or being able to purchase them off other players was so much fun. Between the tonics and the Mini’s it was a whole mini-game in and of itself.
Look at all the options we had back then. Each gift held the prospect of getting either white, purple, green or gold mini’s during most years, or tonics for the sixth year. Why can’t we have something this fun again?
I support different minis but only if they all have exactly the same rarity. Giving some dirt and others gold was really big crap in GW1

Very likely the most facetanky kitten in the game
All you ever have to do is facetank the enemy and press auto attack on hammer and you will never die except to a very few dungeon bosses when soloing.
So it is arguably a rather easy to play build as well

This honestly looks more like a chill build that an actual condition build. You have no immobilize either, which is vital for the success of trapper builds.
Yes, that is right, this is not an (damage)condition build and it being a chill build is obviously right as well. However since it utilizes traps, it is also a trapper. My bad about immobilize, the first pet is actually supposed to be a jungle spider. If you take owl you take fire trap instead of frost trap.
I cant believe you just called primal reflexes and shared anguish bad, i dont even know what to answer about that.
You are right again that this build has under average damage but the damage isnt as terrible as you make it out to be. You say permant poison with serpents strike and stalkers strike(you waste your evades just to get poison up again, really?) but you also say poison is easily cleansed, i dont really understand you. The reason it can be cleansed is why i have viper to assure 100% uptime. Sure, i cant spam burning but i can sure as hell spam chill, poison and bleed and he has to cleanse these AND all the other conditions so while he can cleanse some he cant cleanse everything and he will especially never get poison and chill of him. In the meanwhile i do damage through some conditions, the physical part of the attacks and my pet while preventing my own death with those lovely useless defensive traits.
So they just dont get themself killed? Look, since this is my build and i played chill builds for the longest time, i have some experience with it. The point of it is that you cant bunk it. It will not burst them in 3 seconds but it will kill them. Poison lowers their healing, chill almost doubles all their cooldowns, cooldowns for healing skills and condition cleansed included, weakness can also be permanent if they dont cleanse it, you cant kite it either. Playing defensively simply doesnt work. Especially guardians and eles get messed up extremely bad by it.
During the thousands of teamq battles i fought the only times i died in duels was when i messed something up or otherwise failed and died myself first or when i simply got outplayed against better enemies but i never even once met a person i wouldnt be able to kill.
Now you could say i only ever played against terribly bad people and there couldnt be anything i could say against that but then competent players seem to be so extraordinary rare that it doesnt matter.
Since you can guarantee me to know much more than i do you can surely show me a chill build that is far better than mine for both duel and teambattles?(swapping the traps for spirits and moving 6 to nature magic doesnt count)

Lol, well at least you tried to argument it. You asked for the strongest trapper i gave you the strongest trapper, as in, the best trapper build to play, i had no idea strongest meant having the highest condition damage stat. That build, or variations of it, is one of the best if not the best ranger dueling build while not becoming useless in group fights either. If i remember correctly its also listed in the ranger pvp meta thread. I dont think you have any idea what horror that build is to fight against.
No condition pressure? Permanent poison, 5-10 stacks of bleeding, chill and often reapplied burning, cripple and weakness, that is condition pressure of its finest and 900 condition damage are enough, even when sacrificing everything for conditon damage you only have 1397. 1450 Power are not that much but ranger power scaling is horrible anyway but the crit chance and ferocity are there plenty making use of axes and swords hybrid nature and make it hit decent with the autos. And of top of that you cant kite the pet normally when chilled making the pet doing pressure too. 2700 armor is not squishy lol its just no bunker and it still has plenty of dodges and evades. Its a hybrid and makes good use of every stat thats why celestial is meta for trapper you know.
Normally you run nature spirit as elite, rampage is an alternative which you take for stability mainly. Lightnign reflexes is an alternative over SoR as well, for the lower cooldown but SoR is better in most situations. The active is amazing, godly for teamfights and you can just swap the pet afterwards lol. Even for most non trapper builds SoR is a standard thing to run, do you think its meta because the icon is funny? Makes me wonder how much you know about ranger class
Its dueling and pointfight abilities aside, in teamfights the build puts a lot of aoe condition pressure on the enemy team while helping your own team with healing spirit and spring, SoR and combo fields
