My main defense against Rangers is going to be interrupts, I just wish we had more of them.
MoP is now great for killing trash mobs. It does more damage than Sw#2. Swap it in and out depending on the encounter.
If you are in pug that has problems staying alive, you could try going (2)/6/0/0/6/(2) with phantasm, mantra heal and MoP as auto-attack.
The new sounds might be slightly annoying to the rest of the group though.
TW is good only for golem rush and unopposed Lord slaughter these days.
Portal is used for golem rush and keep retake. With only few mesmers in the zerg it is hard to use it in any other way due to long recharges.
You should think twice before porting inside group and pressing Sw #2, because now that skill is evade and not invulnerability and retaliation will be able to kill you.
I believe the devs designed the changes for scepter AA and death traits at the same time and worked on the for the whole patch period.
The death traits changes have nothing to do with the QQ on the forums after the first Ready Up.
Do you really thing they would be able to implement the changes that fast?

So we could assume they saw the scepter AA changes as buff and balanced it with the trait changes. Whether we think that they made the right decision is another thing.
I doubt devs are reacting to forum complains about the torment. It is more likely all the changes are already coded in and they are just informing us about them.
They probably took user input from the comments in the forums when they decided what they are going to change, but for now the changes are set.
I would love if the WvW grouping was based on guild and the maps were like Megaserver/EotM. The only problem with that scenario is that you could switch guilds.
The only skills I could think that let people evade and attack at the same time are at Thief #3 skills, War GS, Ele FGS.
Ranger GS AA also has evade, but I think it will be too random to use as counter.
Guardians will benefit from Aegis.
The important question that somebody asked elsewhere is how will this affect Blind/Aegis/Retal spam.

Guardian is the backbone of every PvE group. It virtually trivializes any encounter and is pretty close to warrior in its DPS spec.
Don’t know what you’re smoking but putting a guardian behind a ranger is hilarious.
Guardian is the master class in this game. Every GvG or WvW setting HAS to have them, as does any spvp team needing a bunker, and in fractal 50 not having a guardian around makes things a lot more difficult.
OP was asking about SOLO PvE. I would personally put Engi above Ele for solo PvE. They kill things fast with AoE and can go more bunker than Ele.
Can we get retaliation on the clones?
You cannot evade retaliation, look at Sword #2.
Also were Mesmers the only class that has its changes split into two Ready Ups. I think contrary to popular belief, devs spend a lot of time thinking about us …

Pure PU condi build is also hard countered by bunker Diamond Skin Ele. You simply do not do enough non-condi damage to get them below 90% and if you do they heal quickly.
How about zerking 3/2,7,13/0/4,10,?/0 GS/S+F with MoP to auto-attack with from distance?

Unless you are running in straight line the moment curtain goes down, you have to dodge the pull.
With Sw+F I usually try 3-cast, 4-cast(3-swap),5-cast(4-pull).
That way they are either immobilized or spend two dodges and are ready for shatter
Choices, choices … IE will be hard to get for the 4/4/6/0/0 CI builds. You either sacrifice HS+SC or DE.
I will try 0/4/6/0/4 with iDisenchanter, but I suspect it will be dying to quickly.
As mesmers we are focusing all the QQ on the scepter AA so nobody looks at the fixed IE
Meta is condition PU, look at the sticky Osicat thread for Napalm build.
It will become even stronger after the changes with torment on scepter AA/clones.
If you want to be super kitten pick up some runes that give fear.
Now if you prefer more active style, try shatter or lockdown builds. Both will be boosted by the fix to IE. Lockdown builds will become more viable in zerg as well thanks to the MoD AoE change.

WvW karma train is great source of champion lootbags.
To use iLeap intentionally as stun break you have to see at least 1.5 seconds into the future.
I would say skilled play.
Kill the clone and no swap will happen. It will actually be easier now that the clone spawn right next to you, just use #1.
iLeap has animation on clone cast and delay between the cast and swap.
The clone is weak, AA and it dies before the swap is ready.
The classic variations (1|2),(4|7)/4,10/0/0/1,(7|8),(11|12)
It will depend on what kind of WvW you are doing.
I would say that all off-hands we have are viable in certain situations.
For example Focus: pulling enemies off walls (or off edges in EoM). Great for interrupt builds with CI. Our only swiftness skill on demand.
Pistol: Roaming, good against thieves. Good even with condi gear if traited for bleed on crit. I would mostly use it against thieves as position detector.
Sword: Either offensively to proc the daze or as a block to run through AC showers. With a bit of care you could line 2-3 targets that do not have stability
Our best power phantasm for roaming.

If it was a bug, they should have fixed the tooltip. They did it for all the other bugs
Level zerging in EoM. Use GS and SW/F to push pull people over the edges. Your main usefulness to the zerg comes from utility skills that you can use reasonable well even without traiting.
EU Gunnar’s Hold, it is slight improvement over White Side Ridge where I was before.
At least we have some people during the main hours.
Other suggestions:
1. Make illusions invulnerable for the duration of the first attack chain
2. Make ‘shattered’ illusion invulnerable
or
- Killing illusion will tag the player for the killer for the purpose of looting (as opposed to increasing the damage)
or
- Scale the health of illusion with the number of enemies
Another question is whether this should be GM trait replacing one of the useless ones or whether this should be core mechanic

It will depend on the group, but if things are dying fast I don’t think you have to go 4 in Illusions.
