For example if you use it on the edge of a cliff, close to a wall or on a terrain with a boulder, it won’t return.

I loved how the shield wall worked on the stomps, but they definitely have to fix the terrain issues.
I like how people just say it’s “balanced” without that even being the point here. The point is Stealth, which is basically the Speciality of thief is getting stolen by a mage that can make clones and teleport a whole team too. #ClonesForThieves
Actually the specialty of the Thief is stealing, guess who is arguably the best target for that particular skill
The devs seem to be sharing non-special abilities across classes. Guardians got better access to quickness than Mesmers, Engies got AoE Moa on shorter cool down than Mesmers.
This is worse though, there is tells of where the thief is due to black powder and you can stand in it or cc the bp to prevent stealth. It also indicates the area of the thief. Mesmers can still also summon phantasms from stealth that do considerable dmg.
You might have noticed the scorched earth from torch.
If you stand close to Mesmer the shatter will reveal him, same as for thief.
Kill the phantasm, they are on quite long CD.
This might be very useful for WvW zerging through choke points though.
also good for disengage like portal. run away a bit in one direction use F5 blink , phase retreat , decoy and you will popup behind the enemy 1800 range and ready to disengage 1800 range more as those skills are ready

Essentially…no. It’s not possible to make a PU chrono build that still retains the strong damage and abilities of normal PU shatter. You’ll have a bunch of stealth, and then either really weak damage and control, or poor clone generation, lower crit chance, and no blind access.
Torch has blind and he can somewhat mitigate the clone generation with Illusionary Reversion
But you are still going to loose some damage.

Try using bow on condi mesmers, it will destroy their illusions like nothing else and their damage will be pathetic.
Save steal to interrupt scepter #3 (aka laser beam).
Dodge if you see block on scepter #2.
Move a lot, the projectiles are awful at tracking you and their phantasms (torch/staff) will often miss you (not that they will do much damage on condi build).
Stealth is definetly needed for roaming, There are always dudes who’re gonna chase you 4< vs 1 so you’d be happy to have at least one souce of stealth. torch tho cuts your damage and decoy cuts your movement…
Unless you are pulling the whole 20-ish zerg behind you, you are not doing your job, BUTTERFLY UP.
Mesmer is by design +1 class in PvP, you are supposed to fly around like butterfly and sting like a bee

I am only using PU in WvW because I do like running with our zerg there and traited Veil is better.
Nerf hammer because of something happening in WvW is unlikely.
Also unless there is a significant increase in mesmer WvW population pug zergs are not going to pull this off and GvG is not a WvW supported format
Why not simply scale out our DPS by the number of phantasms we have deployed?

The main problem is that with current PvP you cannot cap with distortion. Now when Stronghold rolls out this might be a great way how to support hero push.
Personally I would change Illusionary Inspiration for Mental Defense, because you don’t have that many booms to share, but that will depend on your team.
If there is a good boom source on your team Illusionary Inspiration will pay off as well.
WvW
It is a very selfish build so I am assuming that you are aiming for single small team roaming. I used similar build myself so yes it will be a fun and strong build to roam with.
That Thief burst at 4:27 was a thing of beauty. Those two mesmers before were just awful.

Higher reflect uptime, their wall of reflection is placed where they need it, not dependent on a targeted mob that may or may not move out of it while the guardian can place the wall on the group unlike the mesmer who can no longer place the bubble on the group without a target.
With traited spirit shield and wall guardian has far more projectile absorption.
If your group stacks on melee it is not a problem as the bubble should cover the whole team.
With Mimic Mesmer uptime on Feedback alone is higher. If you really care about projectiles you could also trait focus.
Stability for harpy/aether blade fractal? Hallowed Ground/Stand Your Ground is better than mantra of concentration.
Mantras are awful
Feel My Wrath has greater group quickness uptime than time warp.
True, they should change the recharge to be the same as TW (for balance purposes)
And then there’s the high uptime of group protection and aegis/blinds.
We give far better blind after the trait change (either on dodge or on shatter) and could share distortion with the whole group more often than guardians could share their aegis.
On the other side if you participate in the Saturday’s OMFG PvP runs you will see 5 Mesmer team all the time

WvW borders will be busy on Friday night (FA on NA), but Saturday/Sunday there should be at least some borders without queues.
I will definitely participate when I am around. Mostly as mesmer, but I could polish my thief skills as well.
Lets face it, ANet knew what they were doing when they boosted PU. Everybody complains that ANet does not care about WvW, but the PU is prime example of their care. They wanted to make the lives of Mesmers hiding in keeps and towers easier.

MoD will already daze 5 targets so you are not gaining anything here. You will only benefit for F3 (if-not-traited) and Sw#4 (if not lucky).

i can only think of one MMORPG that has a large competitive/viewer based PvP scene. Every thing else is a completely different style game, like MOBAs. Please correct me if I’m wrong, but which MMORPGs, other than WoW, are really that much more successful than GW2?
It is different genre, but EVE is pretty much only about PvP and quite popular.
Actually Mesmer (and other classes) burst should take a hit
Mesmer sustain is still on the lover scale compared to other classes, it has a long windup, it is mostly 1v1 and susceptible to AoE.
One of the reasons why you won’t see any “LGF dps mesmer” in PvE dungeons.
Signet Mesmer: Great mobility, distortion defense for NPC, AoE blinds for more defense.
It didn’t work with conquest, because you cannot cap with distortion, but that should not matter in stronghold.
Malyx is a PvP Legend. It pretty much clears a point with the last skill and has a great anti-condition utility for a team.
What often happens is that the Block clone is cleaved right after its spawn.
In WvW there is this nice hate (enemy)/ love (yours) Mesmer relationship.
I would say we are less hated than thieves in roaming.
We are not as targeted by zergs as a lone roaming rangers.
We are the hated vile kittens after tower and keep flip.
I suspect this is issue on the environment side rather then on the persona side.

They are a nice and cheap way to get any armor stats you want to test out with your character, so I will definitly keep mine.
You cannot salvage the WvW armor so watch what runes you put in.
Just two things:
1) They didnt say its going to be free. Golems are expensive as all kitten. Basicly, its going to be a money drain for already poor WvW players in order to have a week of “fun”. Because if you dont buy a golem, you’re not going to have fun when the enemy come with 40 of them. Good luck roaming. Its not going to work. You can look forward to spending 500+ gold in the coming week.
I have tons of otherwise useless WvW tokens, I might as well spend them on golems. Unless we are talking Omegas, no money will be wasted.
SoI could hardly mention F5, because it does not exist (yet).
Also If I remember it correctly, F5 (return) will transport you back to your previous location so using it with movement skills might be a bit problematic.
Currently the best PvE support from Mesmer comes with the Inspiration second minor trait that lets you share your distrotion with the team.
You are melee and using sword #2 instead of dodge anyway, right?
You can try to protect your phantasms with Inspiring Distortion.
