It is much more easy to mitigate stealth burst from Mesmer than from Thief:
- Most mesmers are going for shatter burst from melee range.
- Phantasms that are summoned from stealth could be dodged before they attack.
- Mirror Blade from stealth if ranged could be dodged.
- Traited stealth skills (duration, recharge): Veil (4s, 90s), MI (10s,90s), Decoy (6s,40s), Prestige (6s,30s). This is still way lover stealth % than thief.
For the initial burst when you do not see the Mesmer coming you are in the same position as against thief.
In combat MI could be interrupted. Standard anti-stealth tactics like AoE and melee cleave still apply.
The main problem people have is the combination of stun+burst from stealth.
- You do not need PU for that.
- We could do it before as well with the stun signet.
You still have to charge the mantra. Also stability and stun breakers are a thing.
AFAIK, Scepter and Pistol traits are bugged right now.
Otherwise I am assuming this is supposed to be PvE condi build.
I would pick up Mimic instead of Decoy.
I will let somebody who actually does PvE comment on the damage issues, but I suspect that Confusion and Bleeds are not stacked enough for Mesmers so your kills are slow.
You can also use variants on Chaos Maestro 2 for boom share build.
What I tried: Dom(1,5,9)/Chaos(3,6,9)/Inspiration(1,5,8)
Staf/sword+focus, Mirror, Signet of Midnight, Signet Illusions, Signet of Inspiration, Signet of Humility.
Zerker gear + pack runes.
PU is nasty, I met a team 2 mesmer + 3 engies with nades, camping camp from stealth ….
What I think might also work (and I will try today) is Temporal Enchanter build with PU with: Veil, Null Field, Portal, TW/MI
It depends whether resistance works against stun/knockback conditions as well and whether PU traited Veil gives more stealth to zergs.
Confounding Suggestions
Currently this trait alone can lock down targets, even if they initially weren’t doing anything to begin with. This gives too much power and control to builds that should be reactionary and highly skillful in nature. Therefor I suggest a daze should only be converted to a stun, when the target was actually interrupted.
I have seen suggestions to increase the ICD to 10s. I would recommend against that. Requiring an additional condition for the stun application might already change a lot and still allow us to punish skill spamming.
That would make CS almost useless, CI already does immobilize + daze on interrupts with no ICD.
Bountiful Disillusionment
Is any1 using this trait? The stability on it sounds interesting and might be cool for WvW zerg fights. But even then I’d prefer CI or PU over this one. Maybe some variation of boon share build might use it.
Yes, combined with inspiration boom sharing this is very strong trait for WvW zergs.
@MailMail:
The questions are:
How effective is this build if you pick one of the other traits than MtD?
How effective is it when compared to other condition builds out there? (Namely burning right now.)
+1
Thank you for the wonderful changes. With SoI Mesmers can now fly over the WvW map almost as fast as the Warriors
Shadow Refuge could do the same thing so nothing new in the game.
Daze → Stun so you won’t see the Daze effect.
Vulnerability is applied.
Just to clarify things, 10 a.m in what time zone?
T2 isn’t much better for true solo roaming, but it is quite easy to find a small squad you can run with. Pugs of 2-5 people are the most common.
If F5 doesn’t affect elites, why would I want to be Chronomancer again? That’s the whole point of taking the tree.
That and the nice mobility trait and the slow trait and …
But as somebody else pointed out if F5 works on elites it might lead to some nerfing of our elites and that would make F5 mandatory …
Or double Veil for WvW zerging (although I am pretty sure OMFG WvW raid unkittenro’s command won’t need to resort to such measures.)
EDIT: How did under_Pyro_s command got translated is beyond me.
There is variant with Signet of Illusions that should work though:
F5(start)
Moa
F5(end), Mimic, Signet, F5(start)
Moa
F5(end), Mimic(Signet), F5(start)
Moa
F5(end)
Moa
It is by design. Previously the main problem was the thieves focused Mesmer and killed it quickly, now they will want to keep us alive
Combination of F5,Mimic and SoI is going to offer interesting options:
F5, Moa, F5, Mimic, SoI, F5, Moa, F5, Mimic(SoI), F5, Moa, F5, Moa
I would not say that dodging the PISTOL phantasm is a vaste, you probably have zerker gear so they will do decent damage, but it might make their behavior more predictable and predictable behavior could be exploited.
Also for Unranked PvP you could adapt your build mid-game. If you see that the opposing team has a lot of rangers, swap on Feedback. Lots of buffs flying around? Swap null field/iDisenchanter/AT.
it’s irritating when u put down a temportal curtain in front of u, when someone gives u swiftness at the same time, u basically wasted a skill for literally no use
You won’t benefit from it, but the tail behind you will. It is more wasted when two Mesmers in the zerg place TC around the same time…
Probably the best offensive PvP combo will be with Chrono as you will be able to preserve your phantasms after shatter for even more pressure on thieves
Probably going to try Duel/Chaos/Chrono with Mistrust for Zerg tagging.
In HoT your stats will no longer be bound by the trait lines so unless you are going to use cleric armor your damage won’t suffer that much.
Edit: @Chaos And the stability boom share is rather valuable in WvW.
(edited by Korusef.3714)
@Fay: I agree. However, you would need about 4 or so chronomancers to spam it effectively. It would only be practical in wvw and honestly easy enough to dodge, at least once it gets going.
You could dodge only the first two Waves only to be hit by the remaining two and if there was instant recharge they would just keep coming over your stunned soon to be corpse
My suggestions for stability share support build:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgMGWAT4A-w~
I don’t know whether the “on shatter” buffs depend on the number of clones you shatter or are per activating the shatter skill.
Also Inspiration 1,4,9 look like a good speed support build, does anybody know what is the coef for super speed?
We got silent nerfs, why not silent buffs? Robert could just increase the attack speed and call it a day
We demand videos
Also will this be on the current maps or on the Stronghold?
There were instances where the tool-tips were wrong: Fixes could go either way: change the skill to match the tool-tip or change the tool-tip to match the skill (and sometimes it stays in the “TODO” queue for few years)
If it is a group of Mesmers, you won’t need superspeed. There will be enough focus for perma swiftness. Though the soft CC reduction on that trait is tempting.
As for damage, I think our main damage is going to come from tides of time.
With zerg spamming it will have instant recharge.
The first few post in the WvW thread had few build suggestions, but I don’t think there were any dulfy links. I will try to put something there although there will definitely be room for multiple different builds (roles).
GS necro will be better off, that range closer on GS has a very short cooldown.
OMFG is plannign Mesmer raids on NA Fort Aspenwood so if there is any Necro guild you could come and help us there
Dodging on AA is a nice idea, but Vigor and Energy runes only get you so far and if you wasted your dodges on AA you are going to eat the big skills.
Easy minion generation on Mesmers and Engis and the new Stronghold NPCs.
Generally, people balk at voip if they’re forced to talk. In this case, voip will only be necessary to listen and obey, not talk.
Fixed it for you
Also worth noting is that FA is pretty active and if we get more than 20 people it might be difficult to load us all on the same map at certain times.
(edited by Korusef.3714)
Count me in
Btw. why are you worried about Chaos line cooldowns?
Zerg with Tides of Time will recharge the Chaos Storm instantly.
With the new traits it might make more sense to summon phantasm and shatter it after attack.
Notice that The Tides of Time recharge reduction is flat 10 seconds and it looks like the number of targets is not limited … WvW zerg with 3 mesmers …
Lol yeah. That could be brutal. But it travels slow and can be avoided… that said, if the mesmers blink to you, while opening with continuum split, they are not even taking a risk and can summon Tides of Time just right in your face^^
I was thinking more about the support role: Infinite waves through your zerg: Think about all the reduction on Battle Banners, Meteor Showers, Supply Boxes …
Favorite locations: Bridge at the south side of the Hills or the gateway for the Lake tower.
The murder corridors in SM Lord room.

Notice that The Tides of Time recharge reduction is flat 10 seconds and it looks like the number of targets is not limited … WvW zerg with 3 mesmers …
In the raptor video I think I saw the Tides of Time catch more than 5 raptors
(Somebody with better memory please confirm.)
Bug I noticed in the video: The Tides of Time do not work on the Continuum Split recharge.
And the Continuum Split leaves AoEable “fragment” if it is killed you are “recharged” back.
Depending on the implementation (no target limit, reasonable recharge time), Shield could be useful for PvE new boss battles.
It seems quickness will be important for those.
From what they said the Shield might be actually better for Zerg tagging than any other weapon at our disposal right now.
I think the duration increase will only affect Mesmer though.
Love the shield skin we are apparently getting in our new reward track
Or when player evades/distorts so do the clones.
Zerg vs. Zerg dead zone bomb (bridges and other choking points):
Chronomancer + Chaos (VIII) + *
: Portal + Torch/MI/(SR from a friendly Thief) + (F4 +) blink + F5 + blink + Portal
You should be able to open portal at the other end of the enemy zerg. Bonus point if you manage it while they charge you (and waste all their AoE).
So will Thieves get Quickness through Plasma now as well?
Zerg vs. Engi team … lots of Moas running around.
Welcome back … where are our videos from the fights?
Tomorrow should be special [OMFG] representation day See you in Stronghold.
How about both PU Mesmers? Six clones + stealth.
Could you chase effectively?
If they run you won.
Take camps, towers and they will have to fight to stop you.
The “AoE” matras still need target.
