Leader of Looking For Gandalf [LFG]
Worst Commander of Ferguson’s Crossing (Self Proclaimed)
Some people suggest getting 100% in Holbrek, as it is a fairly fast and easy city to complete. If your server is on a good side in EotM, you might consider running the train there, as that can be a lot of xp really fast as well.
The only “proof” I can give is the game itself. We have various means in game of increasing our speed without the help of mounts, and the fact that they have not given us any mounts that increase speed, nor have they made mention (although, would they really mention it?) of adding such a thing, this tells me for the time being, the systems they already have in place are all we are going to have.
They may release them one day. It’s entirely possible. It is also entirely possible we will never see speed increasing mounts in the game. Only time will tell.
Personally, I think the game is fine without them. With the combination of speed boosts available and waypoint unlocks, I get around fairly fast on all my characters. And now with the new teleport consumable, you can port right to party members. Granted, that thing is locked behind RNG…
If you like casting and dps, go for an Ele. Double dagger is fun, though I know some who will swear by the staff.
You know guys, there are multiple methods in the game currently to obtain a speed boost. A mount is not required to move faster than normal. Try using a trait, a utility skill, a weapon skill, rune sets, or Lord forbid, a speed boost from the gem store/black lion chests.
Mounts are cool. I get it. But ANet does not want to go that route. At least, they have made no sign that they want to as of yet.
The amount of money they would lose by doing this is the reason it will not happen.
There are lots of people out there who have bought multiple sets of the tools already, one set for each character, as well as multiple salvage-o-matics. ANet would never have gotten that extra money if there were account bound slots for these things, and I doubt they will go that rout, as these items are a good money maker.
I can tell you, my next characters will be getting their own unlimited tools, and full bag slot unlocks, just like all 10 characters before them. That’s money in the bank for ANet. They won’t change that.
Right? I sent in a ticket about it, and the person that responded said I should report it as a bug in game, because it helps the devs when you report the bug near where it happened.
Now if I just knew where to stand on those 5 characters while I write those bug reports…
Honestly, I doubt they are going to waste the time looking into why my first 5 characters (created over a 2 hour span the night of the first day of early access) all now have a different birthday, each one being separated by one day.
Anyways, honestly Myst, I would just ignore it. As Astral Projections said, they would need to roll your account back, and it’s pretty much too late for that. It would have had to have been done right when you got your account back, as i doubt you would want to lose all the progress since then.
You have extra hours.
Me, I made 5 characters the first day of early access…and they all have different Birthdays. Figure that out.
My average key farm time went from 20-30 minutes solo to an hour and a half solo.
It’s not gone, just annoyingly long now.
As a business decision, this would bring a crap load of money to them very quickly. Think of all the people, like myself, who would be willing to throw down $100+ just to buy all the bags at once for all their alts.
Not to mention that when people make new characters, they are going to want to shell out the money for a new one, just to make things easier. I know I would.
I don’t see how this would be a poor business decision. Even with an extra 20 storage slots shared between characters, bank tabs will still be needed. It’s not like an extra 20 slots would eliminate the need for a bank. The bag would just be a small convenience item for players.
I have 10 sets of the infinite tools, but I think this idea would have more applications than just using it for tools.
I could keep all my siege blueprints in the bag so i did not have to switch them out between players. I could keep my Mystic salvage kits in it. If I got a nice drop to use on another character, I could throw it in the bag, and easily access it on that other character without needing to go to the bank on two different characters.
There are so many applications for this besides tool swapping.
This…is actually a really, really good idea. Shared bag slot. I like it a lot.
Though, if I may elaborate on it a little, why not make it a multi-tiered purchase?
For 2000 gems, you get an account wide unlock of the bag slot for all current and future characters.
100 gems would buy you a special 5 slot bag from the gem store that goes in this new slot
200 gems would buy you a 10 slot special bag
400 gems for the 15 slot
800 gems for the 20 slot
All prices would be per character. The special bags would be account bound, so if you ever did delete a character, you can transfer.
Siett, I hate to break it to you, but you can get to pretty much get to any dungeon in the game within a 10-15 minute walk (maybe 30 if you get sidetracked along the way), and that is with 0% exploration done.
It’s not that hard man. It’s really not.
RNG was not with me this day it seems. Oh well, life goes on.
Kinda with Vegeta here. There is a safe, established method for selling and buying items where you cannot be robbed, and you chose an unsafe method.
It is unfortunate that someone took advantage of you, but you did bypass the safe method for item transfers (Trading Post).
And for the record, I was cheated a few times in GW1 myself with the old trade system, so I very much like the Trading Post in GW2 because I will not ever be cheated. That is worth a little tax on my money.
I have been noticing that certain maps are suddenly hit with what I can only describe as a tidal wave of lag, washing over the entire populous. It happened about 5 days ago at Teq one night, and as soon as we all moved on to Maw, boom, it was gone, and never saw it on any other map.
It’s like certain instances of maps become unstable, either lagging horribly, or DCing people left and right, while other instances of the same map or other maps experience no lag at all.
I have been assuming it’s just something in the megaserver code that needs fixing.
Personally, I made a male and female of every race. It gives me the opportunity to really get creative with armors and outfits with having so much variety. Plus, it’s fun to try out different story lines in the personal story with having so many characters.
Also, when I need to farm nodes, like certain ores, or wood, it helps having tons of toons to hit up rich veins or clusters of trees constantly.
I am no programmer, but I think an idea like this would actually be more difficult to implement. They would have to re-write a lot of the game to allow people to switch between modes at character creation, and to make it fair, they would have to allow current characters the option to choose too.
It would probably be easier for them to develop a new game entirely. Something like this, I think, would have to have been in the works from day one of development me thinks.
And all the winners are….ohh, look at that, a few guys who only logged in for 2 hours during the Halloween event, and will not log back in until the Christmas event…
I am feeling like I missed out on so much now. All my hologram scenes were complete silence, even the last one. :/
In the unlikely event that I win one, I too will say something here to let everyone know it’s happening.
I think it would be amazingly depressing if we all get in game mails congratulating us on playing and losing. I know that is what I would get anyways. I have never won a raffle in my life.
I have a friend who is an old GW1 player who decided tonight that he was going to give GW2 a try, since it was a free trial and all.
I listened to him as he made a character, and played through level 6. He stopped at level 6 and said he was no longer interested.
Along the way, the main things he disliked was how dumbed down some of the hearts were. As a human, when he got to the farm, he found it quite silly to dance for a cow. I explained you used to be able to pick up feed sacks and feed the cows. He complained how there were so few weapon skills, and how boring it was to attempt to kill things so far.
He made it to the heart at Claypool, and this is where he pretty much got fed up. He again was saying it was very boring, and nothing was there to keep your attention. No story to drive you. I explained to him that the personal story has been split up into chapters now, unlocked every 10 levels. Shortly after completing the heart at Claypool, he exited the game.
From all that I gathered from listening to him, the level gating on the skills made combat boring, the hearts themselves were too simplified to keep his attention, and because the story is now locked into chapters every 10 levels, there was nothing there to keep him interested or going. He was just roaming around aimlessly, with no sort of focus.
Basically, what would have been another member of the community has probably been lost due to the changes brought on by the NPE.
Ahh. I had just looked in this section. My bad.
I have a slight issue, which I am sure others are having as well. I had to log off earlier today, before the patch. I did not get a chance to use my last batch of cyphers, but no big deal, because we were informed that Scarlet’s Lair was going to be sticking around. (See: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/archive/madness/When-will-Scarlet-s-Secret-Lair-be-closed)
Well, Scarlet’s Lair is still there…but all the chests are open and empty. No way to interact with them anymore. Why were we not informed about this?
I may only have about 20 cyphers, so yeah, only a days worth of work down the drain, but I know several others who were saving their cyphers until the patch, since we were told the Lair was staying, and now, all their hard work is for nothing. I am sure there are a lot of people out there who were saving them, or have some left and were unable to use them before the patch.
Please tell me this is a simple mistake, and that people will be given the chance to use their leftover cyphers.
Yeah, I have made about 6 attempts so far at the new Teq, and every one of them ended with me wondering why I wasted 15 minutes with no reward.
It makes me sad in my blood pumping muscle.
