Leader of Looking For Gandalf [LFG]
Worst Commander of Ferguson’s Crossing (Self Proclaimed)
A bit of preparation has always been needed since the restructuring of Teq a while back. I have seen it fail a few times within the last couple of months, so it’s not like it was always a 100% win situation. I would not call that faceroll easy.
But it’s also not fun to stand around for 30-40 minutes, prepare for a hard fight, and then spend 20 minutes only to not even win the fight.
The health pool needs lowered a little. As others have said, a 25%-50% increase would have been fine.
I never understood how adding more health (which means an event will take longer and have a higher possibility of failing and making all the time you spent preparing and actually fighting seem worthless) would make anything more fun.
Adding new mechanics might make it more fun.
Adding new skills to Teq’s skill bar might be more fun.
Doubling Teq’s health while leaving the time frame the same is not, in my opinion, making it more fun. It makes it more frustrating to kill, and when you end up failing over and over again, like a lot of people are, it makes you not want to participate any more.
In this instance, I think they should have looked at current difficulty and time frames that were happening at each event, and adjusted health accordingly to each world boss who was going down too quickly. With Teq, I was only noticing a slight difference in how fast she was being killed. All in all, she was only going down about 1-2 minutes faster than before the condition changes. After this health doubling, it can now take 10 of the 15 minute time frame just to get her to 75% for the first defense phase.
I actually walked away from my first Teq instance ever tonight, because it was 2 minutes past the time when Teq should have been dead, and we were not even to 50%, and only had 3 minutes left on the timer. I really did not want to miss Frozen Maw, since it was one of the dailies, so I have no idea if my instance won the fight or not.
I just cannot see how forcing a fight to take longer makes it more fun.

You know, that is true. Didn’t think about that, which is sad, because I was just explaining it to someone earlier.
In doing a little research, I discovered that in order to upgrade my current exotic zealot armor set to ascended with the same stats, I would need to buy the recipes off the trading post, as they were limited time drops during season 1 of the LS, and available no other way. At the time, I did not buy them while they were dropping, as I had no interest in the stat combo.
So, in order to buy them now, I would need 2,227 gold. Just for the 6 recipes. For one character.
My suggestion would be to give us a way to get these recipes again. Because right now, the prices are leaning a little heavily towards never gonna happen. Maybe let them be rare drops from some of the content in HoT?
I would love to be able to craft some ascended armor for my guardian without having to spend $200 on gems to convert to gold just to buy 6 recipes, or have to spend most of a year farming and saving gold for them. As if ascended armor is not grindy enough…
Doing Shatterer right now, no one is seeing any crits.
We finally started seeing crits once we all moved to the head.

Opinions are like butts. Everyone has one.
Here’s mine.
I think it is beautiful. It’s so big and shiny, and I think the devs have done an amazing job recreating LA from the ashes of Scarlet’s attack.
Best bet is to buy it on amazon or something similar, as Arena Net now only offers expansion/base game combo.
I am sure when they release this information to us, we will be able to share it with you.
As for now…errr…Guild Halls are coming…
Magic Eight Ball has spoken. Heed it’s word.
You know, I remember when I sold my scythe staff skin for 100 gold because the price was dropping and I needed the money.
I regret my life.

Yes, me and a guildie were in the beta…suddenly DC, and now I cannot log into any characters I have at all, including beta character.
I’m available to be sacrificed, actually.
Though, I will demand things before you stab the life out of me with that dagger…like steak…good steak…
Once you start unlocking the mechanics of HoT, you would find there are many, many ways of moving around the map, and not just following the roads.
In other words, you gave up too fast.
A guess is all you will have until they release the info.
So, good guess, maybe.
I have actually lost friends over LoL. When I say lost, I mean that I never see them anymore, because I dislike that game style so much, and they apparently dislike GW2 so much, that we no longer have enough in common that they want to spend time with me.
That, and I put LoL down so much I think they just got tired of me. :/
Oh well, GW2 is my friend now. #foreveralone
It’s a closed beta test, not a “here, everyone go play this and have fun” test. A 24 hour time period was obviously not feasible for this stage of testing, or they would have made it a 24 hour window.
They did not schedule this to give everyone a neat time. They are here to work, and we are helping them by working on their time, not the other way around. There is no reason to feel cheated, or feel like a second rate player, because they set a schedule during their work day (not yours) so they could get some work done.
I assure you, no secret meetings were held to ensure the beta test was set at such a time as to make you feel neglected.
Standard response: “It will be ready when it’s ready.”
That’s about all you will get from them. They don’t really announce things until they are ready to, so, if they have not said they are ready, you will get the standard response.
It’s a normal part of patching any game, not just Guild Wars 2. Things break unexpectedly. You slowly figure out why, and fix them. No need to get your knickers in a bunch. They will get to it.
It’s happened twice today to me, so you guys are not alone.
Personally, I am a #foreveralone who just likes hearing the female voices during the cut scenes.
That, and sometimes, the female armors look cooler than the male ones, and GW2 is all about the look man.
10,008 players in one map? I didn’t know that was possible.
You do not know the power of the dark side. Join me, and together we will rule the galaxy as father and son!
I was in the first stress test. I have gotten a portal drop. Logged in to the heroic chest.
It’s nice actually, because I bought the digital deluxe before launch, and always was jealous of people who bought it later and had the chest added as a reward.
I was in the first stress test, and I have gotten a portal drop.
Well, yeah, if you wanted to buy both, it would obviously be more expensive, but you would not be required to buy both if you did not want to. It would be an option.
I think they would make more sales this way, as some people do not like the outfits, and thus, would be willing to spend gems on the skin, and vis versa, and you would have the ones that want both, so in the end, they would be making more gem sales. If those extra sales would make up the difference for the increased man power needed to make both outfits and skins though, I do not know.
Actually, plenty of people have suggested that if they release an outfit, just release it as an armor skin as well, so people who like the outfit can buy it, and people who want the skin can buy it, and they make that much more money by appealing to both crowds.
It would require a little more in the programming department, but it would please everyone.
Got mine after about 15-20 hours of farming, roughly. It was dropped from a teragriff during a bull escort from Red to Indigo.
I remember reporting this within hours of the March 16th update.
As of like 28 days ago, they said they are working on a fix.

Well, let me put it this way then. I run Teq every single day, and have done so for many, many, many months. I get there about 15-20 minutes before reset every night, and I can count on both hands the number of times whirlpools have not spawned.
So, use the time I normally get there, and you are almost guaranteed whirlpools.
Just a suggestion. The skill description never specifically said the guardian is the one who has to retreat, so I am thinking outside of the box.
It doesn’t have to be terrifying to be effective. Nor does an enemy have to use it on you for it to be a thing.
They spawn right before Teq takes off when the first defense phase starts. An NPC even yells something to the effect of “Watch out for the whirlpools. Don’t get sucked under!” when they spawn.
Just watch for the swirling orange circles of death.
Did anyone ever consider that maybe when the Guardian yells “Retreat!”, that he/she is in fact screaming it at an enemy as a demoralizing tactic?
I mean, if someone comes running at me with a magical glowing sword and screams “Retreat!”, something is about to go down, and I might be inclined to turn and run.
You know, I have, on occasion, ran to several spots I know are chest spawn points, and swung a shovel to see if they were there, and I am not a bot.
That is not the best indication of a bot. Just sayin.
But….I actually am lazy. Why do you think I am playing Guild Wars instead of getting up and doing the dishes? It requires less movement!
There are 3 different sets of crafting stations in LA. Unless I missed it, you never really said which specific set of crafting stations you were talking about, so I included them all in the discussion.
And, yes, I do enjoy arguing for the sake of arguing. It’s a thing. I can have things. Don’t judge me. :P
The thing I am saying is, there is no way to please everyone. If they were to do as you suggest, and place three new BL NPCs around the crafting areas in LA, then someone else will still complain that it’s faster “from this crafting station to the BL NPC by 1.3 seconds!”, or “the new BL NPC here is .4 seconds closer for a weaponsmith than me!”, and we will still have the same problem you are talking about.
Besides putting a BL NPC right next to every single crafting station, or making it accessible through the crafting stations themselves, there is no way to please everyone. Even if they did that, they would not please everyone.
And, I think mentioning a consumable made for people who hate wasting time is a perfect suggestion for someone like you who hates wasting time.
In all honestly, if a couple of extra seconds of walking time means that much to you, invest in some of the Black Lion Trader Express consumables. They are right there, in the gem store, made specifically for people that cannot take the time to walk to a BL NPC in static locations.
Why should the map be cluttered with a BL NPC right next to every crafting station, just to appease the few people who find it wasted time to walk a few extra feet to the nearest one?
If they did that, then we would have people complaining the map is too cluttered with BL NPCs.
You cannot make everyone happy, no matter what you do. So, you compromise, and design something the best way you can, to satisfy the most people at once, which I think they did a fairly good job of.
I have said this to my friends for 2 years now. I want them as a playable race as well. It would rock.
And, Bubbles is the name people have given to the Water dragon we do not know the name for.
Sadness has filled my heart. My airplane has stopped sputtering.
I need a hug.
I am actually sad I am no longer a plane
Right? This was a hilarious little update, and I will really miss it.
Sadness has filled my heart. My airplane has stopped sputtering.
I need a hug.
It’s a silly thread anyway. You can’t quit the game. The only way you could “quit” would be to intentionally do something so bad you got permabanned. Otherwise the game will always be available to return to, no matter how long to leave it off.
Well, technically, it’s the same as saying something like “I quit smoking”.
You can quit, but as you said, it will always be available to return to. You still quit though.
Yes, I think the way it is works just fine. Again, just my opinion.
If this was a major PvP game, which focused mainly on the PvP aspect, and not so much on the PvE aspect, I could understand the annoyance. But it’s not. It’s mostly a PvE game, with PvP aspects.
Now, I would see nothing wrong with adding the ability to make PvP only characters and lock them out of PvE all together like it existed in Guild Wars, but I cannot see reprogramming character creation just to remove a minor annoyance to a small portion of the player base who want to avoid a few extra minutes of game play just to get to PvP faster on a new character. Seems like a waste of resources to me when there are larger issues that need to be addressed.
Yes, I read the thread. I am simply stating that this is the way it is, and considering the way it is, you have to be level 2. It’s not like it’s difficult at all to get out of that story instance. I was sharing my opinion, just as many others have, and will.
You say it makes a big difference. I’m not understanding what difference it makes to a PvP char to be level 2 in PvE instead of level one. (Especially to a PvP char that will be deleted the same day). Please explain that.
It’s simple. You cannot access PvP until you get out of the first personal story instance. You have never been able to access PvP until you get out of it. So, by getting out of it, you can access PvP. You are auto leveled to level 2 as a side effect. Since you cannot access PvP while you are level 1 (aka, still in the instance), it seems it makes a big difference to suddenly be level 2 and have access.
Edit: reread OP’s post, I think the 1 minute it takes to get level 2 is a small price to pay…
Does being level 2 instead of level 1 in PvE make a difference when the char goes to PvP?
When you consider the fact that all you have to do is just get out of the first story instance the game throws you into immediately (which, while in, you have access to almost nothing except your bank and the tp if you have them in consumable form), and it automatically levels you to level 2 upon completion, yeah, I would say it makes a heck of a big difference.
Seriously, the story instance can be done in a minute or two if you are quick about it, and it takes another minute to get to LA and go through the portal.
That being said, all the level gating the NPE brought needs to die in a really big hole of burning fire and demon excrement.

My two cents:
I played for both of the two hour sessions today. Had a good time. Fun messing around with the Rev for the first time. I experienced no crashes, which was surprising, but good. I figured for at least one during the whole 4 hours played.
I did have one issue when messing around with the traits on the Rev. I decided to reset them and play around with them a little, and when I did, I was unable to slot my tier two and tier three traits in the second category (I wish I would have taken screenies).
Basically, I maxed out the second and third sets, and just put two points into the first set. I started with the second set, slotted the tier 1 trait, and when i went to slot the tier two trait, it would not allow me. No messages or anything, it just acted like it was not an option. So, I went down to the third set, maxed it out, and it allowed me to then slot all three tiers of traits, so I was like, what the heck. Went back to the second set, and it now allowed me to slot tier two and tier three traits.
Only issue I had really.
I would suggest though, for gliding, that the option to start take effect a little sooner than it currently does. Feels like there is too much drop before you get the option.
It’s looking good though. I like the things I am seeing.
Random. RNG. Luck of the draw. They had some names in a hat, and went bobbing for apples with them.
One of the above, or all of them. Take your pick.
I reported it a few days ago, so they are aware.
Ok, scared me for a second.
And I was not confused, I was concerned, considering I saw a link, and you originally said “does not include links of any kind”. I did not click it, as I usually don’t click links in e-mails, so I had no way of knowing it was an actual link to the forums.
(edited by Kreejaffa.3682)
Congratulations to those who have been invited to the stress test. To those who are not included this time, please know we will be doing more tests in the future. If you want to boost your changes, sign up for the newsletter, as we draw some number of testers from that pool.
Also — this is important: Our invitation does not include links of any kind. If you or someone you know gets an e-mail that suggests you use a link for any purpose, that is not from us. If you get an e-mail that appears bogus, please delete it immediately. Do not click links. Do not visit sites other than our own in relation to the test.
My e-mail actually had a link in it which says it goes to the “Heart of Thorns subforum”, and the e-mail was from guildwars2@ncsoft.com.
Is this not an official e-mail?
I got an invite too! I am the definition of excitement right now.
