If they want to camp JQ BL puzzle, let them. There should be no JQ folks in the puzzle tonight, you should be fighting and defending your home map. Enough said.

No need to twist any knife either, this match up is hardly over, still 5 days to go and plenty to play for. We might be ahead in points right now but it clear both of our opponents are fighting hard. Don’t diss your opponents.

Some folks in MERC should know all about that. After all, it was only a week ago the Mighty Merc and Magikarp the Magnificent graced us with his score update showing a 595 point tick in the Oceanic timezone and this was obtained apparently against the most stacked server of all time . Please don’t throw out the PvD excuse, pot kettle black.

Honestly, by your continued responses on this forum you give your entire guild a bad rep. Even SoS posters are picking up on it. I have talked to quite a few Merc folks who are fair minded so it seems you are not representative.

The thing about professional sports team is that they play even matches. You know 5 vs 5 and stuff like that. This is obviously not a even match so I don’t understand why you would feel the need to chest pump or call us suckas.

I’m honestly disappointed in all of the people transferring from SoS.

As I said in the other thread, we play the game to have fun. WvW was not and has not been fun for a while now. Enjoy your complete lack of NA coverage and PvDooring Tier 3 keeps from breakout events.

Show some class representative of MERC (I know you don’t represent all of MERC, but if you are going to post like that, perhaps take your tag off). Some of us have the discipline to not post about MERC and their decision to leave the server on public forums (or the way they went about it), no matter how critical of the decision we might be. A general statement of someone’s honest opinion about the whole thing is completely fair and justified, a baseless statement about PvDoor in tier three (or nonsense that SoS was going to drop below tier two given the strength we showed last week) is a really crappy way to leave the server. Go quietly to BG, don’t antagonise the justifiably disappointed people that are left behind.

The people leaving are doing so while the server is still strong, certainly strong enough for tier two, and before they even gave the server a chance to show how competitive and fun WvW could be in tier two. The only reason to jump ship now is because you want to be tier one. Very few people in tier one enjoyed WvW since transfers ended, not because the server changed, but because tier one changed. Before this whole mess started, SoS was on a great path to a strong and healthy competition in tier two.

You must understand Shiren, when you recruit 1500 people you are bound to end up with the odd lemon I really can’t understand why this person would be so ungrateful to SoS. After all, Merc were one of the original SoS guilds that were there before the rise to T1.

Good luck to those folks still staying on SoS, very sad to see yet another mass exodus.

Stop with the server transfer blamegame. Folks are entitled to play on any server they choose, its a game and folks want to have fun playing it and given its a MMO that typically comes playing with friends and like minded people. If guilds and people want to switch then its their right. Everyone has different motivations and thats fine.

To a certain extent, those of us who chose JQ back in BWE1 were somewhat lucky. Some folks should remember that. Sure, many of us were older gamers from DAOC, Shadowbane and Darkfall and folks put alot of effort building up the community even before the game went live with a community website and various loose collections of like minded guilds who knew each other from previous games and attracting folks from those previous games. Its probably this older core that has helped the server stay the course to some extent, or maybe I am just being silly on that point I don’t know. The server was also one of the most populus when the game went live so I am sure that was a factor in its longevity.

Those of us who play WvWvW were lucky in choosing JQ given where we are right now in this point in time. Please remember that if you are a JQ poster thinking about gloating or whenever you plan to troll. I know, pot kettle black from me. I would do well sometimes to remember that myself.

Nothing lasts forever though, games come and go so lets see where things take us and ultimately lets all have fun if we can on whatever server we are on

Looks like Blackgate has absorbed multiple big SoS guilds. GW2 has this bizarre ‘passed around foster child’ thing going on where people just migrate from server to server, and the landscape changes, free or paid. I suppose that could be good, but it’s also terribly frustrating to the small fish whose fates are decided by the big fish.

Enjoy your time at the top of the hill JQ, it’ll come to an end sooner than you think.

All things come to an end, its how you deal with that scenario that defines you.

So one of the major Oceanic guilds on the unofficial Oceanic server that has been there since the start leaves to greener pastures? Sad to see but I guess you do what’s right for your guild.

Before the recent implosion, SOS had comparable coverage with JQ. JQ dominates in SEA and has superior NA coverage. SOS dominates in oceanic and also has superior NA coverage. The differences between the 2 servers were motivation and attitude.

Free transfers ended a few weeks ago on a Monday. During that week, on that Monday, SOS had around a 3k lead. They were motivated and was willing to put in overtime and actually increased the 3k lead and won by around 10k by Friday.

JQ didn’t really gain more guilds after that Monday when free transfers ended but SOS was able to win that week against a “stacked” JQ. What was the difference between the SOS that fought that week and the SOS that is fighting now (and the past few weeks)? Motivation and attitude.

So wrong. I have friends (flatmates) on JQ so I knew what they went through, The real fight happened the week after the transfers. JQ had queues on nearly every map but it was chaos, guilds couldn’t even get on to the same BL’s as their fellow members. So it was just pugs running around and yes SoS did win against basically pugs and disorganised guilds. If it stayed that way then maybe we would have even fights but it didn’t.

Once everything settled down the JQ guilds took over the next week and the score reflected that change. Also SoS guilds took a break from pulling double shifts to combat the influx of JQ guilds.

It isn’t just motivation and attitude – its also coverage, coordination, skill and a lot of other factors. Just saying its those two things is silly.

Here are the last 4 match ups to the Monday approx point scores (Sunday for current one) we have had between us three servers since transfer deadline day. I chose just up to weekend as that is when we get more folks playing on all sides.

week 05 – JQ 56K, SoR 63K, SoS 63K
week 06 – JQ 68K, SoR 56K, SoS 56K
week 07 – JQ 70K, SoR 47K, SoS 54K
week 08 (this week) – JQ 80K, SoR 42K, SoS 39K

Now assuming that due to transfer deadline day JQ has not had mass influx of people (I know – a big assumption) whatever is going on here does not look totally due to JQ being stacked to high heaven (which it is not – this weekend we had hardlly any queues and were outmanned a few times on specific maps when I was playing anyway)

Anyway, I will let you all draw your own conclusion, millenium is a great data source barring the obvious troll scores from folks and the point evolution for each week is quite interesting as well. I hope we all stop arguing and enjoy the game and hope Anet gets a good march update out there to get folks back playing.

Well after reading the posts from the last 24 hours, I am done with this thread. Apart from a few notable exceptions, you know who you are, respect from me for whats its worth. the rest of it is filled with constant whining and excuses. The entitlement culture seems strong in some elements of the GW2 WvW community.

I honestly can’t keep up with the WvWvW excuse meta game so I shall no longer post. Good day to you all and hope to see you on the battlefield or apparently in JQ’s case from behind keep walls because apparently thats where we all are all the time, who knew….

For 8 weeks SoS rolled through tier 1. Everyone had fun. There was much joy in the world and people frolicked in the streets.

Times have changed. JQ has taken roids. SBI has disappeared and been replaced, first by a tenacious little pitbull named Blackgate, now by a larger, angrier mob named SoR.

Running to another server (a couple of our hardcore pvp guilds) or dropping to another tier to hide from JQ is for sissies.

Every server has periods of strong and light cover. Its what they choose to do in those periods that makes the difference.

We moved to EB after farming PUGS in JQ BL for a few hours because we got extremely bored and wanted a fight. So you guys were actually already in EB where all we had was a bunch of PUGS from SoR and no guilds. We took SM within 20 minutes and wiped JQ and SoS zergs non stop for about an hour until JQ decided to tap on our keep with about 40. You didn’t go to where the fight was because we had to come to you if I didn’t make that obvious enough in my post lol.

You just rambled on about PPT, and JQ/SoS not going where the fight is, then saying you defended the keep for over an hour. Most of our members actually wanted to stay and farm you in SM lord rooms the whole night while we lost everything else on the map and just have a nice blue icon right in the middle because it was really fun, but our commander couldn’t let our waypointed keep get taken, so we pulled out and let SoS take it. The difference between servers is SoR goes where the fight is while JQ and SoS go where the fight isn’t to maximize their PPT. I guess it depends on what you find fun in the game, having a big PPT or having amazing fights. SoR just loves the fights waaay to much and doesn’t play the PPT game like JQ and SoS, which will most likely be our downfall in the long run.

What an interesting post. I can see logic is strong with you. IF SoS and JQ don’t go to where the fight is (your words) could you please tell me who were you killing in SM lords for an hour and getting all those lovely kills. Was it npc’s maybe?

They don’t need the same guild tag above their head to perform it. What you see is a mixed group of guild tags and assume its a bunch of “pugs”., however you want to define that term.

We had folks on scouting and defence and camp flipping/yak running and a mixed strike force running around harassing bay and hills to keep you tied down. We even flipped hills at one point with 10. All organised by TS and chat.

The force you faced on JQ BL was actually quite organised which is why they were doing ok against you despite their limited numbers and keeping you from making alot of progress but because you didn’t see a single guild blob then you assumed it was a bunch of randoms. Don’t worry, all other servers appear to make this mistake.

You know, I never realized that the word “pugs” carried with it such a negative connotation for you and some others in the community. I merely use it for any mass of players that are not under one guild regardless of if they are in TS or not. In fact, if we had a group of 3-4 Choo, and TW, and CDS, and TWL, and GSCH, and UL, etc… I would still call that a “pug” group by definition of the term.

I won’t comment on the numbers, I didn’t sit and count them, and I sometimes overestimate when looking there because I think it’s better to overestimate than under when scouting wouldn’t you say?

I will say that it honestly saddens me that because I used that one term that you automatically labeled me as someone that thinks the opposing players to be unskilled and uncoordinated even in the light of my post complimenting your group of players for having “sound strategy”. Nowhere in my post was I even slightly derogatory to your players nor did I mean to be. They did a perfect job in forcing us into some difficult decisions which I outlined in the rest of my post.

I appreciate you sticking me in that “small section of SoR” because of that one word. I guess that’s the reason I stopped paying much attention to these forums ever since we left T2. No matter what you say or do, someone is always hurt in some way.

Actually, I didn’t put you in the small section at all. sorry for the misunderstanding. bad phrasing on my part and adding unecessary drama, agreed. That small section is actually very small, almost a group of one given that one’s prolific postings.

I really don’t mind the word pug at all, as others have said, it stands for pick up group and designates a group of players who just get together for a temporary situation.

The issue I have is with its usage sometimes. That is all. Some folks, (not you I agree) tend to basically use it in a degoratory way, as if a pug is somehow a lesser individual in WvW and attach all manner of WvW bad practice to that word

I actually agree 100% with your statements about JQ pugs, in most cases I’d take them over any of the organized guilds on JQ. When we were on JQ the pugs were a force to be reckoned with, used to roll all the “big name” guilds regardless of tier or skill. Its unfortunate that you guys don’t take as big a role anymore, as all I hear about now is the best guilds you guys have, but JQ pugs at the start were not something you mess with. Mad props to JQ pugs <3 Actually you guys probably hate being called “Pugs” so I’ll call you Quarrians?

You are very correct in your assessment I think, minus the SoR brute forcing part. Last night in JQ BL we were faced with the following situation. We (Choo) had about 35 strong while TW had about 20-25 I believe around 8pm CST. JQ Garrison is fully upgraded, and there are about 20-25 pugs outside in the field between garr and bay. Bay walls getting trebbed from garr and every time we push the pugs (I believe the guild TTU had about 10-15 strong there) they would get wiped a little, but most would just retreat to garr. This was very unsatisfying to us, but very sound strategy on JQ’s part due to facing a superior force.

Now the question was, can we move to a different BL to gain some easier points. Sure we could have taken garr after an all night siege, but what is the point strategically when there are easier points out there. So, we try to move BL’s, but oops there are still about 20-25 pugs coming at a Bay with the outer down and TW is across the map defending Hills. Well we could split our forces, but to split 35 players across two maps isn’t very effective against a full force of pugs, much less an organized guild. So due to lack of numbers, we were kind of stuck defending for points.

It wasn’t necessarily a strategy of brute force in this situation, but more of necessity. We honestly would love to be out fighting larger more organized guilds such as SF, PRX, VotF, EMP, and the list goes on, but sometimes your numbers just don’t allow it. I think we eventually left some players at Bay and went to EB and took SM, but I had to leave before all of that.

I really enjoyed fighting the new BG last time they were in t1. Their collective attitude was just playing the game. Trolling was down on the WvW thread and over all there was civility. Hopefully it doesnt change much with AGG and FOE moving there.

Plus we get Fiesty’s score updates, As far as I am concerned, now I have tasted those, T1 is barren without them.

Doubtful that any time of teamwork against JQ would ever be performed. There is a lot of animosity between our two servers and people that would be able to influence it. Personally, I wouldn’t want that anyways.

Somehow I suspect that even if we did during non NA peak hours at least, it still wouldn’t put much of a dent in JQ. They were ticking away on you at 600 too if you recall. Heh

Full 3 way is always my preference I hope you both don’t kitten off and fight each other exclusively and continue to show us some love otherwise it will get boring fast.

Some of those 3 ways in SM and various keeps across the maps in the last few weeks have been awesome.

Tbh there’s too much in the way of veiled trolling, mockery, whining, crying, accusations, and basically everything because the mods stamp hard when it’s done honestly.

1. We don’t fight in blobs. That is not how you counter the hammer/confusion trains your server likes to use. So this is quite inaccurate.

2. The veiled implication that we are spying on you is really uncalled for an not even remotely close to reality. Please don’t do it, it is blatantly disrespectful to everyone. The maps are extremely small and the objectives limited, you shouldn’t be surprised to ever run into people.

On point 1, my defintion mind you, a blob is a predominantly single guilded group of players, as opposed to the zerg which is made up of a mix. I saw CDS, TW and Hel blobs last night.

We didn’t even have a queue most of the night, much less a 70 man zerg.

I won;t argue numbers at all, as I said it was a guess based on the 15-20 Hel, CDs and TW tags I saw during my playtime, you were moving folks between maps and certainly for a while those three were there.

It was, I agree. I was there on the JQ side. I hate this time of the week when the match is pretty well wrapped up and only a fraction of the people seem to care anymore. A fully fortified garrison being hit and people want to do jumping puzzles to stock up on siege for next week, or figure we’ll just get it back later. It was like herding cats, only more challenging. Well, keep punching us in the nose like that, hopefully you’ll wake some people up and get them focused. The crew that was making a real effort to fight back simply didn’t have the support. We shouldn’t be out-manned like that these days. Sigh…

When I was on you had TW, Hel, CDS and a bunch of other folks running around JQ BL having fun. My guess was around 70 of you in a couple of blobs. PRX had locked down the JP and the rest of us who were around were having fun fighting you. Some of the fights around Sunny were amusing. I took off in a small man to flip some camps and stuff for my last hour. Once we switched off the pin in our small man magically we stopped meeting a welcoming commitee.

SBI always hated you guys :-P. That’s why so many of us were shocked when SF transferred to JQ. The SBI guilds that transferred to SoR came for their community but also to get a chance to stomp some JQ tail.

I sympathise, my own lucid moments appear to be alot less frequent lately.

You chaps have certainly been a blast to fight, just keep on banging away at JQ BL as long as you want to.

It would be more fun if SoS would make an appearance on the map once in a while and actually stay there for more than 20 minutes. 1v1 isn’t as much fun and takes a lot of the unpredictability out of it all.
