SBI has almost no presence in WvW atm. They should have dropped from tier one weeks ago. Right now we have an unhealthy competition where JQ is able to fight off SoS without having to worry about SBI because SBI is simply not competitive any more. It would be a shame if SBI didn’t drop to tier 2 next week, the competition would be better in tier 1 as a result, every week they linger up there is another week the competition becomes stagnant and stale. We are seeing SoS full cap SBI maps with no meaningful resistance. At the moment SBI is mostly just a source of points for whoever wants it (or is willing to pull off pressure from the actual competition to take it), whereas in previous weeks the competition was a three way battle and anyone in the lead had to earn it and they had to fight for every map.

I’ve enjoyed playing against SBI for several weeks and there were (and still are) some very competitive guilds on the server, but they just don’t have the coverage to be a tier one guild any more. The competition suffers when one of the three servers has been defanged.

SoS tried to make a push to get SBI out of tier one early this week, relieving pressure on JQ, it backfired and it looks as though SBI will remain tier one for another week and JQ will take the first place win (mostly unrelated to trying to push SBI out). I truly believe the swap between third place of the higher tier and first place of the lower tier needs to happen. Ratings are too forgiving of ways to build up your rating to a level you can’t sustain: holiday gains, end of the week capping, PvDoor at night. This helps you to retain a position you can no longer hold due to decreased interest, server transfers or guilds disbanding. The result is lopsided matches like this weeks, where one server is still competing in tier one despite not having the presence or competitive coverage to give a challenging or threatening WvW experience.

Look at how JQ has been revitalised by the prospect of winning and moving into first place once again? It has brought out the militia and the guild transfers to make them more competitive than they have been in a while (it’s hard to compare this week to previous ones, it’s still holidays and WvW participation has been down across all servers). A new server in tier one would further revitalise the competition and give people something to compete for. Currently the rating system is just a slow agonising death that everyone has to sit through.

Sure SBI are suffering at present however they have a 50 man zerg running around their BL at present so I don’t think they are dead and buried yet and I hope they keep the faith and stay in T1. Any server that makes the points deserves to be in T1, rather arrogant of you to suggest otherwise. Love to know which guild you represent on SoS. If BG want another shot they need to earn it. Good luck to them.

Not many of us Oromea (OREO) are left playing WvW at present. Most of the clan is in DF beta There are 3 of us active in WvW right now although I am trying to get some of them back.

No doubting that we have more numbers/coverage than SoS and SBI this week, definitely agree with that. However, I have done loads of WvW this week in various timezones (weeks holiday) and the only 50 man zergs I have seen are from SoS. JQ doesn’t tend to stack zergs as big as that in one place very often, well not in the timezones I play anyway

Rendering certainly sucks, I really hope they fix that.

There’s a couple of guilds I recognize from other servers and other new guilds I never met before from JQ this morning. I thought HGBQ is from SoR.

HGBQ has been on JQ for months. We don’t have huge numbers of new guilds on JQ. We are just getting what we have into WvW plus a few new guilds/folks in the last few weeks.

If you are trying to infer that we are somehow stacked with a ton of new WvW folks this week then I am sorry to dissapoint you. We do have a number of prominent WvW guilds who have changed their tags in the last few weeks as well as some leaders have left and the remaining officers picked up the slack. Maybe thats what you have seen.

WvW is about numbers and coverage, player skill, tactics and strategy play their part but numbers/coverage trumps all. JQ has not been going easy on SoS for the past few weeks. We have been trying our hardest but simply we could not get the numbers and coverage into WvW to match SoS for the various reasons you stated. They are not excuses, they are valid reasons, in fact you are using lack of manpower due to holiday season now as a reason yourself…. whereas earlier you stated we were now doing well because of hacking, which is it?

I am pretty sure SoS, SBI and JQ and many other servers are equally skilled, every server has their good and bad commanders and players. I like to think JQ is special but I am biased since I have been here since BWE1. WvW currently is dominated by the numbers game.

This week we have finally got more numbers and coverage into WvW compared to SoS and we are doing better and making it a very nice fight. That is all, you even said so yourself……

I haven’t won my bet completely yet though. Its a two part affair. You have completed the first part and I am still waiting for the 2nd part. I’ll let you know when it triggers

You don’t need to ask him his name or start fraps, you can get the players tag by reporting him while selected. I am assuming you reported yes? Effek can certainly do some digging anyway based on the screenshot.

And please, don’t use 1 isolated instance of a single player possibly exploitig into a tower to kill some seige if I understand the screenshot correctly as an excuse as to why the fight is close. It has been close before and will be close again. Thats what we all want right? I could post several screenshots and fraps footage of folks from the other two servers doing questionable stuff. But you know what, I just report and contact the relevant folks by PM…..

If you want to bleat out excuses then really thats up to you to mke youself look foolish.

I was wondering what would happen once we started pushing you hard excuse wise, thanks for proving me right, another bet I have won.

This happened to me last night when playing and then again tonight. The lead up last night was the Arah event and very bad lag. Tonight it was Jormag and bad lag. Btoh times my screen froze and then I got this alarm sound from right stereo.

I checked gfx card etc and resources via task manager while GW client was hung and everything looked ok – just a frozen game and loud alarms in one ear

I had the odd crash pre patch when zoning but otherwise its been ok. I wonder whether they changed optimisations this latest patch.

I’ll try fiddling with my sounds settings as suggested. Hasn’t happened in WvW yet but last night and tonight I was only involved in small man stuff. Maybe a big siege is going to lock up for me..

Don’t often post on these forums but thought I would add my voice to this thread. WvW was the main draw for me in this game and I loved the relatively low barrier of entry gear wise to compete on a level gear footing. I have one level 80 fully geared out in 3 sets of exotics depending on the build I choose to run each week which can vary. I was slowly levelling up some different classes and also slowly progressing towards a legendary but in no rush. I had 100% completion on my main. I really loved the lack of gear grind and there was plenty of content to keep me happy even though I had already visited every zone at least once. Playing with friends in WvW and some pve and dungeons on the side was fine. I could take a few days break for work or real life stuff and know I would not have fallen behind. Felt I would be playing this game for a good while.

I was a bit concerned about the new gear but convinced myself it was only going to be pve. Now that I have seen the extent of the new stat increases and its clear it applies to WvW I am seriously re-considering my GW2 future. Plenty of other games just around the corner for me. PS2, DF2 (probably another traincrash but I already have the previous game so its just a 1 month sub to try and the FFA PVP full loot in that game was and will be awesome for awhile ) and other games.

Really Anet – you appear to have completely forgotten your previous statements about this game. Right now, this is looking just like SWG NGE or Swtor pvp changes in terms of gaming decisions. Why are you following the crowd here?

Does Ascended Armour not have a rune slot? Surely that would make it a dungeon specific armour and not a higher tier armour? That was not the impression I got.

And I believe the stat increase is around 8%, that is fairly significant.

Not sure how you worked out 0.2%. Based on the two explorer type rings posted the increase on power and precision is 8% in pure stats, 48+15 compared to 50+18, thats 5 increase on a base of 63 = 8% increase. The increase in MF is whopping 42% although you could argue thats moot. However if that also works out for a beserker ring it might not be 5 exotic jewelery pieces would deliver 35% CD and 5 ascended would give 50% – I would argue thats quite significant.

The key question for me anyway is does this apply to WvW….

error 7 is back for me again right now it seems. Time 12:20-12:45pm UK 28th october.

all my avatars are in LA and keep experiencing this. One of them managed to get the LA overflow pop up and the others didn’t. After a few minutes error 7 on all of them however my connections to all other internet services are running fine.
It seems to be an issue with Anet and their overflow tech and handling global ip’s as far as I can see as I only get this in tandem with an overflow message and invariably thats LA zone.

My details for what its worth. The significant fact is probably I am EU based and play on an NA server.

Yup same here, I am playing on an NA server from the UK. Random disconnects for the last hour, been fine all weekend until now. Also had issues getting on the GW2 forum. I was also losing access to some other US based sites such as guru so it might be an issue between EU and US.

same deal with me. Got the zone reward for the last zone I was doing and no world completion reward. Have 100% on character select, 100% on been there done that etc.
