So is JQ going to be nice and let SoR tie for second seat in the next 2 matches?
Everyone hates us, why would we be nice?
Let me add that we have bought enough to invite all of our Tier 1 friends to celebrate with us. But please no strippers. This is a wholesome event.
Charr strippers are cheap though
Stei knows all about those… (in server joke TM)
oh come on … JQ really has no right to complain …
when you bought MERC …. you pvded like every night until season started lmao
And this is why we hate BG
Who are we?
Do you represent a server? A guild? A Group of JQ investors?
Who wants to know?
oh come on … JQ really has no right to complain …
when you bought MERC …. you pvded like every night until season started lmao
But that was only because BG was taking it easy that week right? Do you live in a vacuum and not read any other posts?…
Anyway, who is complaining? oh look its the guy above me, shall I link your posts?
So, BG gonna open the champagne soon?
Given the standard of posting from some of them I think they already have and drunk the lot….
To anyone who think BG=Buy to win you forget some kind of players BG has.
Me and my friends do play in league over 10 hours/day (we normally play 2-3 hours/day)
What I do in my 10 hours play.
1. Scouting.
2. Walking Yaks (I main Ele and change to Ranger for “Sick em” to fight Thief yak hunter, yes there is no queue in my time zone.)
3. Get Bloodlust.
4. Run supply to build ACs to defend towers and Keeps.I’m doing these things and get 2 WvW Level/day in 10 hours play, but I’m happy coz there is not only me do this kind of job. I always see BG fellas walk beside me, do these housewife job for server.
Every server has players like you and I am sure each server is pleased to have them. Who knew?
Nah just got the worlds fastest infraction and mod delete lol. .
Infractions are being handled out like candy at present. Some of my posts have been classics but I doubt anyone got time to read them before they vanished
Literally the last thing we want to see is JQ fall apart like SoR.
Not going to happen. We might be down, but we are not out.
tripple waypoint on bgbl
A new experience for you? how sweet.
been there, done that, bought the t-shirt and in fact several other related t shirts…
If JQ has been having queues across all timezones in these past few weeks (while playing against tier 2 servers), then this proves that coverage is not an issue for JQ.
Honestly, we only started having queues when season 1 started and the achievement hunters came out in force. Most likely this is the same for all T1 servers and maybe some T2’s. I am sure BG have seen the same.
What you are seeing now is our core plus some WvW converts out there fighting, especially in EU. Since some of the hunters would rather not play WvW if they can’t get their rewards quickly and the idea of actually grafting for them is not so attractive.
Luckily some of them have stayed in WvW so its been good for all sides really. Our WvW participation rate is higher than it was pre Season 1 so as much as I dislike the whole achievement stuff and I play for the realm based pvp alone Anet have ultimately given the WvW format a bit more life.
Conversely, BG’s achievement hounds are still out there with BG’s core because the rewards are easier to get. As others have said, if we had managed to build up a 10K lead over the weekend with crazy hours it might have been boot on other foot.
Personally I am glad the queues are gone because I don’t have to sit around waiting in a queue to play the game format I bought this kitten for.
Our point tick when I logged tonight was 230 and we were starting to get some sort of foothold on BG BL so it was better. Hopefully our NA prime core can push on a bit. If not, I do know they will do their best anyway.
Wow, JQueue doesn’t have a queue for EBG right now, this is the first time I’ve seen this in a long time. Its been forever since I’ve been in EB, I’ve been in maybe five times total since I moved to JQ several months ago.
Well, congratulations to BG in winning first place in this season of Coverage Wars 2.
So JQ has broken at last!
If you say so. Unicorns and Rainbows.
Once upon a time. JQ was the stacked server.
Karma at its finest.
and once upon a time it was HoD, your point?
The karma on JQ is still the best, its the grapes, just saying
Also laff at the “BG playing politics better” card :P
>>> Lies to TKG to get them to move to JQ
>>> Pays basically full transfer of half of [MERC]
>>> Pays transfer of [GD] >>> GD gets bored moves back to EU
>>> Buys all of TC’s SEA coverage
>>> Attempts to buy Never Die [ND] >>> ND tells JQ to f-off
>>> ZDs moves to BG, BG community surprised offers to help supplement their members, pays maybe 1/3 of the cost if that through sudden fundraising. > buys guilds and suddenly is buygate. Please tell me again about our Warchest and politics, to me conning/buying another servers guilds is more politics than BG has ever done.
MagiKarp, no one ever said that you were involved in the BG playing better politics so don’t take it personally. Obviously if you were involved there it would be great for BG opponents I am sure…..
I give you exhibit A above…
Umm.. i think you got the wrong info sir. IoJ once hit T1. But it’s always been HoD/SBI/JQ till TA disperse.
I’m impressed at how often people forget NSP/ET…
We don’t forget them but they were forgettable. The whole NSP→ ET server switch did not help them and they had even less sustain than HoD. They can at least beat TA in one regard, that NSP/ET alliance gutted two server communities whereas TA just did one.
So my initial question still lingers, did ‘JQ’ had to spy on BG in EBG in their ‘strong’ SEA timing to wipe us?
Not that I am aware of. We often wonder the same of certain other servers when its clear they know where our pins are but most times we put it down to good scouting
I like the part where you claim JQ as the t1 server since the start… when in fact the t1 servers at the start of the game were Henge, Isles of janthir, and stormbluff. May want to research a bit more before making praises to a server that only advanced to t1 after guilds abandoned henge of denravi to balance the fights.
I think it is you who need to learn some history. The truth is out there, off you go and find it. I have been on JQ since beta so I think I can talk with some weight and know my servers placings.
The HoD stuff while fun I really don’t count. 30 straight wins mostly in a much shorter game format that was over in 2 months while impressive and they were no doubt does not really compare to over 1 year of sustain.
I’m really looking forward to season 2 and hoping ZDs is joining SoR or SoS or TC and we will see what happens.
Relax. ZDs aren’t cheap server hopping guild you normally know. They are dedicated bunch of people who play for the server. They paid well over 2k gold to help recruit guilds to SFR, including a BG NA guild. I guess they transferred due to very long queues (2 hour++) even in their playtime at SFR due to pugs bandwagon.
IMHO they probably will transfer back to SFR if the queue over there reduces rather than go to any other servers.
And about the matchup – JS has some great guilds in SEA time pushing BG hard. Especially EBG JS zerg yesterday farmed us for 4+ hours in SMC. Props to that commander who was able to control the pugs well. We had a huge suspicion that JS is spying our tag. So all the commanders in the map tagged up to confuse the ‘spy’ and take SM at last.
Did you guys really spy?
P.S- I am not in ZDs guild. Just a poor SFR->BG transferred soul looking to get into WvW with less than 1 hour queue
BG are fighting Jade Quarry this week (JQ) and not Jade Sea (JS). I thought you might like to know that. I appreciate it can get confusing…….
That said I played the first time in BG NA timezone today
No disrespect here but this bit amused me. NA prime (evening) is only just starting now. The timezone you played in if you were on BG BL and part of the Hills take down and then defence against us until we finally flipped it (Xeeron did a leading great job there) was EU prime time – I guess that would be afternoon US time spread across your 3 hours timezone range. Anyway, that’s all semantics.
You certainly did a great job on Hills defence, was a tough nut to crack but we finally got it. Hopefully NA prime can hold and push on from there. Nice to see some ZD there as well. That was late for you chaps
On BG BL again tonight. Plan to be there every night this week helping out.
Nice work today BG. Good to see you come back strong like that. Awesome fights on BG BL again tonight, was tough hand to hand up close and personal stuff tonight
SoS, saw you starting to ramp up as I logged, good fighting. Its shaping up to be a good week of fighting this, win or lose this one is going to be fun.
thank you both, that would certainly explain things. Rangers have quite a few passive to active traits compared to other classes. I’ll check my ranger specs against this post. Possibly even though I have re-spec’ed a few times I have kept one of these traits around, or maybe runes, sigils.
Strange I don’t get the same with my warrior, guardian and thief but that might be their specs.
I’m trying to help the guy out. You’ve added nothing constructive to this thread. Please stop posting here or actually start contributing rather than telling us all what you can and cannot do.
I appreciate the advice thanks but given you appeared to read my post and thought I was dying then I am not sure how helpful that advice is as I am not entirely sure the basis of it
Sounds weird, I hardly ever fail gathering.
Maybe your pet is keeping you in combat or something.. keep it on passive and stow when possible and see if that helps.. idk.
Yup tried stowing, it can help except it never stays stowed. Swapping pets when gathering also seems to help which why I think it must be pet related, some sort of increased chance.
Yeah me neither. I just walk up and sit there with everything hitting me, completely ignoring it before running off to the next thing. Consider speccing slightly more defensively when you’re gathering.
I’m pure DPS spec, I don’t think a defensive spec will make a difference.
Yeah but you and him are two different people. If he’s dying as it is, then he needs more survivability. Speccing more defensively could just mean using different pets and utilities, maybe even weapons… but if that doesn’t work, more armor will help keep him alive and no one can argue with that.
Who said I was dying? , I certainly didn’t. I spoke about gathering fails.
My observation is that I get alot more gathering fails on my ranger compared to my other level 80’s and I don’t do anything different apart from having to clear now when am on my ranger to avoid it. There is no death involved here.
I have tried both a bunker and a dps spec and many specs in between with different traits and different pets and still see the same issue. If others are not having the issue then I guess I will have to do more research.
If folks fancy testing this there is a ring of 5 elder wood trees in malchors leap bottom right of map. When the temple point it contested you get thorns spawning on the ground that give bleed and cripple. When I harvest that spot on my ranger with the temple contested I will get around 4-6 gathering fails in total from those 5 trees. Same thing on my other three level 80’s and I hardly ever fail. If would be nice if someone managed to see the same thing so I don’t think its just me and my account
(edited by Kreen.3925)
I have been seeing much higher gathering failures with my ranger compared to my other characters been going on for ages but I thought I would finally post given we have an update coming up. Anyone else seeing this?
With my other characters I don’t have to clear mobs and maybe get one gathering failure every few weeks. With my ranger if I don’t clear I can be sure to get at least one failure every node, sometimes more.
I have tried different pets and trait specs and still get the same result. My guess right now is that its yet another pet disadvantage and the pet increases our chance to fail. Not sure if Necro’s see the same, I don’t have one.
Would be nice if it was fixed as only gathering is what I am using my ranger for at present You could argue that having a pet should actually be an advantage because its me who wields the gathering tool and not my pet
bolt and howl make a nice combo
fun match up this fight, good fights, thanks to all three servers
My sources tell me that Waha and almost all of ATM/FoO walked away from Guild Wars 2 this week. Looks like BG will be the last server standing at the end after all.
Congrats BG, you have earned your right to PvDoor for the rest of GW2’s existance.
Lol, suggest you find a better source, yours are rubbish.
I guess its just wishful thinking from BlackHoleGate.
good luck this week to all three. Here is to some fun fights.
This thread seems to have gone to tripe.
Anyone defending this is a bit silly. They need to fix it.
I wonder how the matchup thread will look next week. (BG, Mag, and SoR)
For best results, SoR needs to be behind by a big margin after the weekend is up. If Mag is seeing this, you know what to do
Why do you need Mag to help you? Can’t beat SoR on your own? If I was Mag and reading the BG stuff here I know what I would do….
I think BGs are sharpening their blades for the next encounter with JQ. Don’t expect JQ to beat BG.
Letoll, what were you saying? I give you exhibit A.
I’d like to request that SoR continue to play like this when you face us. Please? PLEASE?
lol
Mighty nice weather JQ’s having. Good week to come back.
There won’t be anything to come back to. The Season is already doing funny things to guilds… another week of second place might hurt more than you think.
Was more a remark on people being heavy commenters whenever their server is winning with conveniently timed absence during months-long losing streak.
But sure, I’m all beat up about nightcapping issues.. It’s a new thing for us rallians. <,<
Always the way Letoll, some folks only show up here when they are winning. Tumbleweed the rest of the time. Hope you folks get your mojo back. Respect.
So Question 1;
Why is SoR throwing this match?
Thanks.
They aren’t, remember they don’t care about the ppt…..
Anyone else feel they started taking PvF notes from Maguuma ?
Nope, Mag are the copy cats in that respect. Certain folks on SoR have been telling us ppt doesn’t matter for many months.
I really hope they get their mojo back or whatever the kitten is going on gets fixed because I love fighting those folks, awesome server really, very well organised in WvW. When you beat them you know you have measured up and not been found wanting.
Personally I’m actually quite impressed by SoR as a server, their ability to just give up and as server make a decision not to show up to “fight” is amazing.
I have many times when SoS/BG was losing to tell them “just take it easy, give up” been met with “Never give up, never surrender” lines or just generally ignored and we can’t win but keep the margin within 20k.
Whereas SoR just has this ultimate command over their guilds/player who just decide as a collective to quit.
I’d understand that opinion since you’re seeing it from a different side of the fence.
Over here, what I’m seeing is that our fairweathers and militia tend to quit early, yet you still see guilds like TW, Choo, Die sticking it out during late NA.
Our TS was also being DDOSed. It happens every time BG pushes for something or can’t take something from SoR’s grip.
I can’t say much about our OCX and SEA guilds, that’s their decision. Prolly playing Battlefield 4.
We love (and hate
) the old guard still coming out doing their best for the server, the ones truly out for the fights and we have nothing but respect for them especially when moral on the server is low, so please dont take comments like karp’s to be directed at those who are out there trying their hardest
the oceanic guilds like HIRE and OCX are still out there as well as the SEA, but our NA are doing a beast of a job it is just hard for your OCX n SEA guilds as we are able to break their wp’s before they can log in and keep them that way
not sure whats happening to your TS but i hope it gets sorted out asap, no one on BG condones that sort of crap
see you on the field
Yeah, the DDOS pattern has been pretty constant for the past months. I’m glad to hear that the other main guilds are still sticking it out during their times. (Times when I’m knocked out in bed)
The same chap manages both SoR and JQ TS and is a righteous dude. he manages both servers really well and very fairly. For whats its worth JQ has been getting alot of DDoS and troll spamming attacks in the last few weeks as well.
(edited by Kreen.3925)
So Question 1;
Why is SoR throwing this match?
Thanks.
They aren’t, remember they don’t care about the ppt…..
Good luck to all three servers this week. I appreciate that the points are probably going to go one way and JQ is stacked compared to the other two servers but here is hoping for some good fights
Good post, thanks for this. Regarding Healing Signet, I’ve noticed recently how wildly useful it is against pesky classes who try to tickle and run forever, and to be honest it has been a breath of fresh air. On the flip side, I’m concerned that this is just my relief at not feeling insanely pressured in attrition fights. Perhaps I should feel more pressured, or it shouldn’t be as effective? Or maybe the people I’ve fought have gotten so used to doing so little and spending so much time running that they just aren’t playing up to snuff and I’m deserving more 1on1 encounter wins against classes like Thieves and Mesmers that I didn’t used to get as easily?
And on the other hand, having to sit and wait around outside of a Zerg because I took myself down to half health is very detrimental. I can really see the pros and cons, and I have a hard time justifying the cries of people who have built evasive condition attrition and used to win against a class that used to have minimal sustain. Though I also wonder if I can still dish out too much pressure based on the 1on1 sustain.
Having felt on the back foot for so long, it’s weird considering the possibility that something is too strong. I’ll be curious to see what changes ANet has in store for the Warrior. That being said, all of this post is true.
Well the thing is, warrior concept was originally a class that “became more powerful as the fight went on”. It was supposed to be the class of attrition. Instead, for many months that role was filled by bunker guards, rangers, eles and the dreaded condi bunker mes.
War had such terrible sustain for such a long time that most war players had to adopt the “full zerker all-or-nothing” mindset to try and burst a target down before they died themselves, as that was the only way to have a chance at winning any type of fight. Furthermore, any warrior player who stuck with the class for the 8 or so months it was relatively weak learned every trick about pretty much everything in the game to be able to win fights because, if you didn’t outplay your opponent, you were guaranteed to lose against almost any other class or build.
When healing sig was buffed, we now once again became a class of attrition, and people who have mastered the class through the period of time the class was weak now seem unstoppable. Was the class overcompensated a bit? Perhaps a tiny bit, but not to the degree that everyone who doesn’t play war would have you believe.
The War now is an all-around threat. It doesn’t have the burst that a pure glass engie has, it doesn’t have the pure survivability that a bunker guard has, it doesn’t have the utility that a mesmer or guard or thief or ele or engie has, but what it does bring is an un-ignorable, high-damage yet durable option to the fight.
And I think that’s why we’re seeing so much frustration with people playing against warriors. Wars are doing enough damage to the point where they cannot be ignored in a fight, yet they are durable enough where hard-focusing them over, say, a glass engie or staff ele usually isn’t a sound decision.
And that’s why I think they’re in a pretty perfect place right. They are fulfilling the role they were intended to fill.
Great post, unfortunately the whines have won out
Those damage reductions on earthshaker and staggering blow are quite something. UF I can understand moving to master as you then have to make a big trait tree choice but just wow on those damage reductions. Have to see how it works out but hammer really took a hit for all folks even those not stacking crit and UF.
The control aspect is minor – stability or even the large number of blinds flying about can resolve that and only 3 skills of the 6 on hammer give any decent form of aoe cc anyway.
Have you ever had a whole map zerg turn and chase just you half way across the map?
yes
JQ plays to laugh from the safety of their t3 towers while they pelt you with cannonballs.
That reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and the French Knights
IF you have not seen that movie, do
Just get as many hammer warriors and guardians as you can get in a queue and have them all stack on your tag. Have a few staff ele water field bots and a mesmer or two for veil. Then just torpedo into everything in sight. Can’t lose!
this guy knows his stuff.
IRON joins SoR – weeks of SoR chest thumping pvd “WE IS BETTER THAN YOU!”
ZDs joins BG – SoR QQs more than a 5 year old girl that didn’t get her Hello Kitty Pez dispenser.
Tables turned = epic QQ
Youy are wrong here. When we came to SoR T1 was unbalanced, messy. 1st matchup in the leagues last week was very close, beacuse T1 became competitive and quite balanced.
That’s the huge difference between IRON and ZD moving to NA.
You realize you told him he was wrong when he was 100% correct, right? The moment SoR received [IRON] (who’s numbers squashed ANY guild BG or JQ had in the EU timezone) they went on a tear and were basically unchallenged because of numbers. Only when Coin moved to BG was when there was some resistance (with big thanks to those RK and HB who showed up as well).
The week before IRON moved to SoR, WM playing overtime along with any early NA people who had nothing better to do was exactly why BG’s EU timezone seemed strong, when in fact it was only people playing outside of their ‘timezone’.
I bring this up because that 18k lead SoR had? Yeah, it was evaporated because of people willing to play outside of their timezone. BG wants to win (especially after all the kittentalking), so much that their commanders and troops are willing to stay up a few extra hours to try and rally the server and bring it back from what started to look like a very grim Monday. If SoR isn’t willing to put in extra hours, cool. But, ZDs was NOT the driving factor of the massive cut into SoR’s lead that happened into Sunday/Monday.
It’s been said in this thread a few times. SoR’s forces went to bed with a comfortable lead believing they had it in the bag and could at the very least sustain it throughout the week. They awoke to a rude awakening.
With only about 3-4k of a lead left, its quite possible a bunch of people went “well wtf?” and pretty much everyone was demoralized because of the hard work they put in over the weekend was gone over the course of two timezones, again, thanks to overtime. That said, SoR has notoriously never ticked at kittening 15 ppt ever, fights or no fights.
I remember when SoR was trying to recruit before free transfers ended, he said “We CANNOT teach spirit, we CANNOT teach honor, we CANNOT teach motivation, we CANNOT teach courage.” You guys need to find that again.
Also, T1 in leagues was so competitive because each of the three servers have timezones that they excel in. JQ has its SEA, SoR its EU into early NA, and Blackgate has its Late NA into OCEANIC. Throw in the fact that all three servers had the achievement floodgates burst open with countless hordes of players who probably haven’t WvW’d at all, and the strategy of trying to keep JQ down due to their easier schedule for the entirety of the league, you can plainly see why it was so close. It’s a lot easier to see the cracks in a server when there is no third superpower to hide such.
excellent post.
Call in the lawyers quick……
Anyone seen Star “Scream” lately? Just wondered why he has not followed the example of some of his brethren……
Star got banned because he got bored of trolling bg, hes moved on and is play FF
we wish him all the best as hes truely kitten all of BG while playing GW2
sorry to see a fellow solider leave the game.
Reward should be based on level of upgrades
Great idea this. If we must have wxp then this sounds promising.

Anyone seen Star “Scream” lately? Just wondered why he has not followed the example of some of his brethren……
I play on SOR, and I am ashamed that we aren’t showing up to fight. I continue to fight to the last, including in Hills in BG BL last night. Held you guys off several times, including contesting the circle successfully 3 times.
Come now, SoR, life isn’t fair. Get over it and fight.
+1 for you .
Its also easier for a guild to qq on a forum then fight on the battlefield.
fixed it for you
Sanctum of Rall:
Actually MagiKarp it just seems to be people with IRON in their sigs doing the moaning. Let’s not label a whole server due to the tears of a few “childish people” (Spanky’s description of them)
