It will not. This will only affect the endless CnD spamming.
(Wait till out of combat then use CnD, repeat for infinite stealth)
You can still “chain” stealth as well, as long as you do not leave stealth at any time inbetween, so rather than chainging you’re layering (the duration).
Seems fine to me.

So many thieves whining about a nerf that is actually not that huge.
You will still be able be almost permanent invisible, so do not worry!
If you’re a good thief you won’t mind and will adapt easily enough. If you are bad you will now die more often, which is the way its supposed to be.
Without being too harsh, thieves now have two options:
1. Actually start learning the mechanics of the class and other classes, and thereby raise your skill lvl.
2. Whine about the nerf and roll another class that you find easier to play.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
I’m pretty sure the most common way for people to get out of it is by cond. removal.
I didn’t know that you were able to directly walk out of it inbetween pulses, that would be a neat trick to master.
To practice!

Hello!
After i bought my Vigil Order armor i noticed that it had some serious glitch-issues.
Instead of trying to describe what is actually happening, i have taken some screenshots so you can see what happens for yourselves!
I know this is probably not on top of your to-fix list, but at some point i guess you’d like all these glitches gone.
Please see the attached screenshots for clarification!

I am playing a human female ranger. Wearing full Vigil Medium Armor but the shoes. The shoes are Durmand Priory Medium.
All of my items are transmuted. I bought the vigil items from the “frog-vendor” at the Vigil Keep!
Thanks in advance!
NB: This ONLY happens on the right side of the armor, NOT the left.
EDIT: The “leggings part” (which is actually the coat-piece) has some weird sway/movement glithces. It’s worst when running but if you stand on an elavated terrain (like one of the screens) it will also glitch.
Even if standing completely still (screen-shot) the metal-chain parts will look weird, and have a sway to them.

But what I’m a bit concerned about is that I have the feeling that Custom Arenas won’t be ready next Patch. Also, plz include an Option where you can modifiy the amount of Points gained from Kills, Nodes and secondary Objectives. This would really greatly improve the Custom Arenas!
Dont want to sound too sure here, but i think it is safe to say that Custom Arenas will NOT be in this patch.
They would have announced it with the other features AND made a blog post, since it is a pretty huge deal for the competitive community.
That is also what i hear Tyler say in his post, so i would be overly surprised if they were released before the April Patch.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Well said.
But honestly it should be clear to us now that Anet does not actually WANT smaller fights and/or roaming. I do not think this is what they want from WvW, they want it to be ZergvZerg and battles that are much larger.
Personally i cannot stand those battles since i have 1 FPS and it will make no difference if i am there or not.
I usually tend to go for 1vX’s fights since i really like the difficulty and the possibility of winning against more than one, but i’ll probably hesitate to do that with this new patch since i do not want to be free WXP.
As suggested a thousand times wxp should scale with the amount of people killing a target. Assuming the reward is 100 xp pr. kill i would earn 300 xp if I managed to win a 1v3. If they won they would only get 33.33 xp each.
With this current system they will all receive 100 xp and the risk is MUCH higher for me, and i’ll only earn 100 xp per enemy as well.
I’m pretty sure they will not introduce this system as they have ignored the solution since we heard about wxp the first time.
I think i’ll patiently wait for Custom Arenas and more competitive features for spvp
I must admit though that i have had some fun times in WvW.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Custom Arenas sound very nice!
Thanks for taking the time giving us some information about them, Tyler!
With the new WvW-patch that is pretty much going to ruin any small-scaled fights / roaming i’ll be looking forward to custom arenas, that is for sure!
Although i dont really care, it would seem like a nice idea to have “Node Toggle” as well. Should be kinda easy to implement and i think a lot would be very grateful!

@ Xeph
I appreciate the effort trying to explain the situation and calm people, but unfortunately i dont think it will work no matter how hard you/we try.
People will always be complaining and it will never change. Tbh i think it’s fine a lot of these stereotypical ragers quit, because the community is healthier without them.
Usually in other games (CS 1.6 for instance, since that is one game i played on a competitive level) the actual skilled professionals aren’t the ones who are raging and complaining, and i dont think it is different with gw2.
This post is probably not helping but it is getting really tiring.

Rofl, those abilities are a joke
Hmm. Could we have an explanation?
It’s difficult to give people passive abilites while not giving them an advantage to other people. I think these abilities look fine, i’ll still be able to 1v2 people even if they have grinded the karma-(and now wXP)express to get higher ranks.

The only surprising thing to me is that more ppl want a Ladder than Custom Games, just imagine what Custom Games could entail:
1) Community run Tournaments with Ladders, Prizes
2) Showmatches to hype up the Game
3) Bring back the most competetive Players that could now train on a high level with just a few Top-Teams —> This would also lead to better Streams, more Viewers etc.
4) With 2v2 up to 8v8 already Confirmed (afaik), ppl that have begged for sth. like an Arena would get closer to it and if you could set the Point-gain to only kills giving Points and fiddle around with the Respawn-timer, you’d have a decent Arena.
5) Depending on how customizable they really are (but with structured 2v2 up to 8v8, even this would be beneficial) it could give us insight into how the game plays and the balance looks like when exploring possible future game-modes.
6) With PW-Protection, ppl could even Set up decent 1v1-Tournaments without the fear of others joining and disrupting the game.—> Yes, a lot of work to make Custom Games exciting would fall into the Hands of the Community (make own Tournaments, Ladders etc.), but with the Pace that ANet currently puts out features, I’d rather have the Community in charge of PvP than ANet and Custom Arenas is simply a necessary feature to even give the Community a chance to do so.
The Ladder is just something to make the grinding a bit more rewarding; neat, but not as important as Custom Games. I mean, we already have PvP ranks, stats for how many wins/losses you have in PvP, we had a QP-Ladder etc. Good Players know they are good, does little Timmy with his PvP-Rank 11 really need to know if he’s on rank 5002 or 4998 in the World?…..
This!
But i wasn’t really surprised seeing the votes, most people have no clue what would actually benefit the game, they just want to have personal incentive (which is also important but can wait).
+1 great post

I agree with a lot of the statements that you’ve made, although i could see how removing the AoE cap would further unbalance some classes.
With regards to the “Downed-Mechanic” point i agree, and in fact there is a pretty simple solution.
What i would suggest is:
In PvP environments (WvW and sPvP) you’ll only be able to down one time. Currently you will enter defeated mode instantly after you’ve been downed 5 times. This is working great in PvE (Dungeons etc) but it’s seriously a problem in WvW and sPvP.
A lot of times when engaging in 1vX fights i actually manage to down a lot of people and sometimes twice. The problem is that they just keep getting rezzed, and there is no way i can ever down the same person five times.
Entering defeated mode at the second down would still keep the original intentions (incentive for group play, better chance of comebacks), while not making 1vX or 10vZerg totally impossible.
I’ll gladly admit that i’ve sometimes been saved by the rally mechanism and the feeling of being back in the game is awesome. I strongly believe a change like this would only be for the better.
This is just one post out of many, so chances are that the devs will not see it, if you do it would be great if you could consider a change like this.
In regards to the OP i think the two 2’s are the most important subjects.

This was a needed change to some extend, the world events had become too crowded for the wrong reason: Grind.
I felt like i HAD to do the events every day on all my characters to keep up.
Very often people got 2-3 rares from the chests. This means that there is a pretty huge chance of getting an additional rare or exotic besides the guaranteed rare.
So basically if you’re lucky you can still farm all the events on 8 characters and get 30 rares a day. Note: Only if you’re lucky.
This change is for the better, but i don’t think it will fix the event camping and in general im just against rng. People will still camp the events, the only difference is that now only the lucky people will get 20 rares a day.
…. Im screwed.

First off, quite nice fights. But to judge whether this Build got good synergies, or well chosen traits, you should post a link to your build. And remember a build isnt just done with the traits – so what are you wearing?
As mentioned i am not sure about all the traits, and they may vary between clips.
Stats was pretty much all carrion.
For sigils i used Doom and Geomancy, but i quickly found out that doom was useless since it only applies poison if you auto-attack.
As i also mention my post, i believe with more theorycrafting this build could’ve been much much better
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Haha. I did indeed forget to post a link, thanks for the heads-up.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Hey guardians!
This is not a new video, but since it didnt really get any views i thought i’d make a new and seperate thread.
Basically this is a build that relies on burning and retaliation dmg. I dont remember what the exact traits were, but i know i had 0/0/30/0/20. The last twenty points are not really important, but it might have been “remove a boon when applying burning” or “10% dmg against burning foes”
I used Monks Focus, Mediation recharge rate and burn on block. In the Virtues trait-line i used 25% retal duration and longer burning duration from Virtue Of Justice. You could also trait condition removal from Virtue Of Resolve, and if i were to create this build again i’d probably trait 30 into Virtues.
Stats are pretty simple, i believe they are mostly carrion.
The traits may vary inbetween clips as i experimented with a lot of stuff.
This build was very different to AH and other builds, but i didnt really play it long enough to really master it. You have be constantly aware of the retaliation and burning durations. Doing condition builds that rely on a single condition can be very dangerous, since the tiniest bit of cond. removal will be a huge counter.
So instead of applying as much burning as you can, you have to constantly apply burning in smaller dosis else they will just use one cond. removal skill and you’re screwed.
As I said i didnt play this build enough to really master it, so you’ll see me applying WAY too much burning just to see it removed (for instance the first clip against the warrior).
I hope this build/video will inspire people to try new and different builds, as you can be “competitive” with other builds than the meta AH (as the video hopefully shows ^^).
I know that some of my opponents are very bad, but i do manage to kill a guardian with foodbuffs running a more traditional build, that must count for something
.
This is not a guide btw. but merely for entertainment and inspiration. I am positive that you can come up with much better builds using burning as main damage source, i didnt spend too much time theorycrafting with this build. At this time gw2buildcraft didnt work either, which made min/maxing difficult.
Enjoy!
Edit:
I still dont always spam my virtues when using my elite, but i’ve gotten better at remembering it since this video. Whomever once gave me that tip – Thanks!

WvW has nothing to do with being a better server, for now it’s just a matter of numbers (as RS can clearly shown, which is totally fine btw nothing wrong with that)
Check the screenshot below your post, you’re clearly outnumbered … weeee. :p You outmanned RS for some weeks now, hence the need for a defensive playstyle.
Let’s see if that has changed.
Seriously, i need more backpack slots. Luckily there’s a merchant at AG hills.
Just because we outnumber you in one fight that doesnt mean we’re not outnumbered in total. Your logic is flawed.
It is pretty obvious that you carry the “strength in numbers” buff, i don’t really care though since i do not participate in zergvzerg (my PC will explode).
However, it would be great if you could stop interrupting nice 1v1(2 or 3’s) with your zergs.

Could the guardian forum please stop from turning into the thief section, where we QQ about every single nerf or counter we get?
Both bunker elementalists and bunker guardians rely heavily on boons and are almost invincible 1v1. Having characters that will be stronger against boons in a sense nerfs those cookie-cutter specs and opens up for new builds and ways of thinking.
Why do people actually WANT their class to be OP?
Is it that much fun winning a fight rather than actually having a good fight?
This wont render guardians useless and it if does, it will be balanced.
I can’t remember a time where i lost a 1v1 against a thief using the 0/0/30/20/20 build. That is not balanced guys. Of course the thief should stand a chance. But kitten me for wanting proper balance, right? I should enjoy being unstoppable against certain classes.
Mesmers are definitely the strongest counter to a guardian, and from the sound of it they wont fill this new boon-hate role, so everything is fine! (Mesmers are strong against everyone, but thats not a discussion for the guardian section ^^)

I’m sorry but.. This just can’t be viable.
Essentially you have just specced dmg + piercing arrows and then run around auto-attacking.
From 0:22 and onwards there is like a whole minute where the only spell you’re using is Crossfire. In a more competitive context this would never work.
Edit:
Just to give an example:
What would you do if the player used structures for his advantage and obstructed your attacks? He would just completely rip you apart when you got close.

How can a discussion like this even exist?
Who gives a flying kitten about the scores? WvW has nothing to do with being a better server, for now it’s just a matter of numbers (as RS can clearly shown, which is totally fine btw nothing wrong with that)
I couldn’t care less if Riverside owned everything, as long as i could get some decent fights.

Yeah. F2 skills are horrible!
Even if the skill is actually activating the pets have a two second cast-time on many of the skills, which is the case for wolves.
Whenever you press the skill and the wolf actually uses its skills, the enemy is usually out of reach or its too late (using to interrupt stomps etc). The cast-time needs to be greatly reduced and that cannot be done fast enough!
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
WvW is a place where people go without any respect or honor, and then they justify themselves by saying things like “WvW is war, get over it”.
People in WvW are way worse than people in sPvP, and you can’t even chat with eachother. The attitude there is so bad that im disgusted by it.
I often see 30+ organized guilds just completely trample 2-5 players without anything that even remotely resembles a fight, just to bow or laugh afterwards.
I get that it’s cool to feel powerful like this, but imo it is just lame as kitten.
Zergs avoid eachother and headhunt smaller groups, it is kittening ridiculous.
Oh and btw. have people decided that this week should be a Thief/Mesmer week? It’s pretty much the only classes i see, and it’s usually not this big of a problem.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Rallying can be very exciting in PvP, and it actually allows people to have great comebacks.
The problem is that people in downed deal way too much dmg, sometimes even more than when they were alive. Tone the dmg down and it wont be so frustrating.
Another thing i’d like to see implemented in PvP is that you should only rally once, the next time you would go into defeated mode instantly.
This would be very easy to implement, since the system is already there, but you have to down FIVE times before this happens and it never does in PvP.
This would allow for comebacks via the rallying system, but this would also make it easier for people to win 1vX fights.
I have no clue why the system does not function like this in PvP, it is beyond me.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Well in structured PvP (when you enter Heart of the mists, those small crossed swords in the top toolbar) you’ll automatically be lvl 80. So level will not be a factor
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
I just watched the SoTG and overall i’d say it was pretty successful.
The balance part took a long time, but imo balance is the most important thing. I must admit that i sounded like there were very few changes incoming, but some good ones as well.
For instance the changes to the stealth debuff. It was something i suggested a long time ago, so its nice it is finally here.
I didnt expect a huge amount of features in this patch, but if we get leaderboards that would be great. People quitting because are not getting custom arenas, spectator mode and IG ladder are being too unrealistic.
I’ll divide my post into two sections, the second part being constructive feedback for Xeph and Nero.
Part 1:
I just wanted to clarify on something a lot of people seem angry about – The fact that spectator mode will not immediately work with tournaments.
This might sound like a bad move, but in reality i dont think it is that big of a deal.
They specifically stated that custom arenas and spectator mode would be shipped approximately at the same time. This means that teams will be able to set-up and customize their own server. This ALSO means that teams will be able to host their own tournaments and invite shoutcasters + spectators. This is exactly how things worked in CS 1.6 and it seemed to work just fine.
It sounded like the spectator mode would ship with switchable PoV’s and if we’re lucky a free-look perspective as well. This should be enough for decent shoutcasts and self-arranged tournaments.
The only problem is that these tournaments might not grant a reward as tournaments would. But imo thats not really that big of a deal.
Part 2:
Overall I think you did a good job (Xeph, Nero). It seemed like the best answers were given you very specifically asked and mentioned balance stuff. For instance when Xeph pointed out that Shatter might be too strong and most importantly why.
I’d like to see these more questions in this manner, as we all know that we cannot get any dates for new features, and it seemed like they didnt know what to specify themselves.
Let me just give a couple of examples to clarify myself a little more.
When talking about Guardian balance the developers said they were pretty happy with the overall state of the class. I am as well to some extend.
It would have been great if you could ask directly if there were any changes to traits like “Zealous Blade” which would make the Power trait-line more appealing, since we all know it’s pretty weak atm.
I believe they would be allowed to answer such questions, and opening up for a new traitline would really make the guardian even more versatile. Which imo then would be great information regarding balance.
The same could be applied for Rangers. They said they had some changed for the Greatsword and Longbow, but we all know the worst weapon is the main-hand axe. Why not confront the devs and ask directly if there were any upcoming changes to the axes?
Many of the questions were maybe too broad, and it allowed the devs to talk very freely and therefore avoid the actual core issues.
That is just my personal opinion and something to consider
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Arena matches will probably not be implemented soon, but 2v2’s and 3v3’s will be available with custom arenas.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
Great to see changes like these are coming after all.
I am usually running alone or in small groups, so it doesn’t really affect me that much, but at least now i know when to run!
People thinking this will solve the “thief perma-stealth” issue is in for a surprise. You will still not be able to kill thieves, and you will still die to an almost invisible thief if you are bad.
It will probably have an effect on thieves while fighting zerg vs zerg, but the thief will still be able to dissapear forever in small fights.
Usually when fighting a thief, they initiate by spamming all of their burst skills. I break-stun and heal up, hit the thief with 1 whirling wrath aaaaaaaaaaaaand he’s gone. And i’ll never see him again.
This will still be the case, because in reality it has nothing to do with culling, it is the actual thief mechanic that allows this. I just wanted to throw this out there, because it seems people think thieves will not be able to escape anymore, that will never be the case.
But great changes indeed!
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
If you now start to make the warrior competitive in a 1v1 (obviously it’s the worst class to choose in a 1v1) by adding some more survivability or dmg etc. You will face soon a mabye overpowered class in teamfights.
As someone already mentioned, what is currently popular (which imo is very nice) is the sustained dps builds, for instance D/D elementalist. These builds are also very strong at 1v1’s because they are most likely hybrid builds, and have some way of defending themselves against glass cannons.
If you were to balance the warrior with 1v1 in mind, why would it suddenly become overpowered in teamfights? That doesn’t make any sense.
If the warrior needed more survivability, you would naturally decrease the dmg if the class proved too OP in tests. Somewhere there is a sweet spot, which would make the warrior a decent 1v1 class.
In fact, a warrior could possibly already make a decent 1v1 class, just as the guardian can deal heavy burst dmg. But people tend to go for the meta-builds that other people come up with (100b, Endure Pain). Instead of experimenting with other kinds of builds, they just assume the warrior is kitten at all tasks.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
No… people just want the actual builds and traits to be balanced. The vast majority of traits are absolutely useless or at the very least sub-par to all the standard builds. This has nothing to do with the players. The balance is not quite good and that is why we’ve had the same broken meta for nearly 7 months with the same op traits/professions/builds and the same team setups.
Additionally the best roles in the game are glass cannon and bunker… the 2 things you said shouldn’t exist and they currently RULE the meta. They are extreme builds. There are no extreme support builds, they dont exist.
I agree that there should be more viable builds and weapon-sets, but the meta is not BROKEN because Axe/Axe ranger is kitten (for instance).
The balance is not completely broken, more builds just have to be made more viable so that we see a bigger versatility in the game.
So glass cannon builds rule the meta? If i recall correctly (and i’m pretty sure i do) D/D ele is considered OP due to it being the jack of all trades. Nice dmg, mobility, defense and healing it has got it all. It’s not a bunker nor a glass cannon (though can be specced being a bunker).
Trapt rangers have recently made a come-back as well. GC? Nah I dont think so.
Im sry, but it seems you dont really know what you’re talking about. At least this makes me believe so.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
regardless of that philosophy all builds fall into certain roles. You will never extinguish that
That is correct, but the roles should be never be extreme.
There should be variations of builds, but we dont need people that spec full defensive or full offensive, those types of builds should not be viable imo. That gameplay is already out there in every MMO already released.
If you read my post thoroughly you would notice how i said there should be roles that teams fill out, because they are either good at them or want to. NOT because the game necessarily requires those roles.
So yes there would be roaming builds, defensive builds and supporting builds, but not in the extreme sense that we see now.
Balancing the game based on 5v5 situations would result in very specific cookie-cutter builds and roles, which is what we are currently seeing.
I believe however that this is due to the strength of bunkers, more than the strength of dps. And if we toned down the viability of bunker builds, the gameplay would be much more action-packed.
The balance is actually quite good. The problem with not having standard builds like in other mmorpgs, means that people always blame the builds/class and not the player.
In CS 1.6 one guy could take out a whole team in 2 seconds by spraying. “LOL NERF SPAWN! SK.SWE IS kittenING OP, COLT NEEDS NERF”
This never happened, and of course it never happened. This example is completely kitten since the only variable in CS was skill and team coordination.
A lot of people think that thieves needs a nerf, but in reality I win most the times against a thief. I do agree that i’d like the class to take another direction besides stealth, it is kittening frustrating and not fun for anyone. But the class is not really OP, in sPvP that is.
It seems like people want gw2 to actually reintroduce the holy trinity. Im aware that the current meta still needs tweaking to be fun. But if you really want that role-based gameplay, gw2 is just not for you.
Balancing for me is all about eliminating variables other than individual skills and team-skills, and that is done with 1v1 balance.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
I have a feeling people often post without actually reading anything but the OP.
Seems legit.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
You cannot compare GW2 to LoL, as LoL has specific roles for each of their heroes.
Gw2 is build with the philosophy that there should be no trinity.
This means that every class should be able to rely on itself, and no classes should be better at 1v1’s. With the current meta there are classes that are too powerful in 1v1’s, and others that are too weak. Balancing the 1v1 issue, will in the longer run balance the teamplay.
Honestly I do not see how 1v1 balance would make the game more static. To me it would become much more dynamic. The way it is now, you’ll just have a bunker ele/guard/engi standing on one point for an entire match. It’s almost impossible to take down a bunker alone, and if you try, you will waste your time.
Having the game balanced around 1v1’s would require more movement and team coordination, as points would be much more vulnerable in general.
The most interesting gameplays are often the ones where each individual are equally matched, leaving only skill as the variable.
That is what made CS 1.6 such a huge e-sport. Each player were equal which meant that the only variables were individual skill and team skill/coordination and strategies. People could still be good at spraying while others were good at strategies or using the AWM (simply put). The point is that the gameplay did not become static or pale, as each team could use different strategies that were all viable. This was the case because of the 1v1 balance that CS naturally had.
The gameplay in CS did not provide any roles, but the teams filled them out based on what the individual players were good at, and that is where gw2 needs to go.
Right now players cannot choose the “role” they are best at, because the gameplay requires specific builds to be competitive.
I hope this is not too difficult to understand!
I believe this discussion lives because people disagree about the direction pvp should take, and not whether the game should be balanced around 1v1 or team synergy (both things can work, but do so in very different ways). In my opinion the best direction for gw2 would be 1v1 balancing, since i feel the gameplay/combat mechanics would benefit from that the most. But if you look at gw2 with a LoL perspective, you might want gw2 to head in another direction.
All that said, i believe gw2 needs another gameplay-mode for it to be competitive. We dont need 20 different game-modes, and imo we dont need death-match (even though it would be kinda fun). We need a game-mode which primary objective is not revolving around holding points OR grabbing flags, because specific builds will naturally be better at such tasks.
We need a very neutral objective, that for instance could be “Red Team needs to defend a Lord, Blue team has to kill it.” And of course the teams would have to switch sides.
This is very basic and would work with a lot of secondary objectives, that could make the game even more interesting. An example of such could be objectives that did not grant points over time, but gave some kind of buff that the teams could go for if needed.
TLDR; Gw2 should be balanced around 1v1’s, as the mechanics would benefit from that the most. And we need a new game-mode that does not require specific builds. (“Neutral” primary objective).

Mesmer is pretty much one-spec wonder as well. More versatile than the other classes, but the best builds all revolve around shatter. If you go mantras you’ll have a bad time.
Zaphiel Faires – DPS Guardian
I completely agree with the OP.
I’d like to note though, that if you actually meet another guy who has specced a 1v1 build, you will not take him down easily. You experience this gap more than others because you’re playing mesmer, and they are EXTREMELY good at 1v1’s compared to most other classes.
Take a ranger, guardian or elementalist and match them with equal 1v1 builds, those fights will take forever and be very exciting. These are the classes that i currently have experience with, and i dont feel a huge imbalance between them. The problem is that most people suck at creating builds. No wonder rangers that have only specced condition damage will suck.
(Elementalists are still a little OP, and some of the ranger weapon-sets needs a huge buff. Looking at you axes!)
But overall all classes can actually spec for a good 1v1 build, the problem is that the current game-type is favoring bunkers way too much. And if you’ve specced for a 1v1 build, you will never take down a bunker alone.

So. I’ve been tryin to get the PvP Orrian Medium Set, and found out that it can be crafted in the mystic forge with:g
Arcane Powder
Slivers
Item token
Paid Tournament Token
This seemed to work for most of the set, i got the gloves and leggings within a few tries.
However i just can’t get the Coat. I have easily tried over 10 times now, and it keeps giving me either the Inquest or the Guild Coat.
So i’m just wondering if this is actually a bug or just me being insanely unlucky.
Not saying it is a bug, since i’ve been known to be extremely unlucky, but it would be great if i could get a confirmation if it’s working as intended. Dont want to keep spending all my Powder if the chance is not there!

I have no idea how difficult or time consuming they are to make, but atm they are only like 5 (including the character introduction), and tbh a cinematic at every tenth level would be appropriate to drive the story!
It is not really much of a topic for discussion, but if you agree i thought we should let the devs know
EDIT: Im not including the dungeon cinematics here, as they are not a part of the personal story technically. But they are of course awesome as well!

Hahahaha. I laughed, thanks!

1) Will we see seperate and more frequent balance patches in the future, for instance once a week? (smaller tweakings)
2) Are you satisfied with the current meta, or will you work towards creating more viable builds for each class?
3) Observer-mode is important for the game to develop as an e-sport, what are your plans for such a system? Have you taken movie-making and shoutcasting into consideration? (Think of HLTV in CS 1.6 and note that the movie-making side made a huge difference in its success. Alternatively think of the saved replay-system in LoL and HoN)

Thieves are not OP, as they can easily lose a 1v1. However, losing a 1v1 as a thief does not result in death, and that is a problem.
Other classes can burst as much dmg as thieves, but thieves have the ability to escape combat whenever they want, therefore there is no risk.
This results in the risk/reward ratio being competely screwed, which a lot people have already mentioned.
Basically there has to be a debuff that makes you unable to stealth, even outside of combat. This would also fix the problem with thieves always having an invis stomp ready at hand (depending on the duration of the debuff), and i am of course referring to CnD here. You can just CnD the downed person and there you go. Knowing you would get a debuff going into stealth, thieves would have to more carefully chose when they go stealth.Thieves die easily in 1×1s? No. 90% of the players would vehemently disagree. Look at all the posts showing how Fgs can’t kill a thief.
Thieves do not DIE easily. But they can still lose the fight.

If your build is dependent upon, rather than supplemented by, food then you’ve done it wrong.
Basically this. I used the pie as well, but it was broken as hell. The only people that dislike this change, is the people who used this foodbuff and had a huge advantage over people who might not have known of its strength.

lol I love this. I REALLY love this. I recognize some of the people whining here about this as faces who defend ascended gear… and their arguments are slapping them in the face.
“You don’t like ascended gear? Don’t grind for it! No one is FORCING you to. Who cares if you lose out on some stats. They are inconsequential in the long run.”
Right back at you. You don’t want to level multiple alts to get another chest? Then don’t! No one is forcing you to! Who cares if you lose out on some loot. It is inconsequential in the long run.
In before someone claims that the argument somehow doesn’t apply to them because they are special.
I hate ascended gear, and imo its lame that we have to grind for a new gear tier.
I have more than one lvl 80 character as well, but i still think they should be account bound.
The incentive to lvl alts shouldn’t be about being able to farm more gold, it should be because you actually want to try a different class.
And yes i use both my chars to complete the events more than once, but i’d still rather see a change. It is most likely not going to happen though.
There should be an equal reward for spending 100 hours into one character as 100 hours into 5 (random numbers.)

Don’t ever trait Zealous Blade at this state, it is useless :/

and to add that you can’t guest to another server to get more rewards. It’s only 1 chest/event/character/day. That’s a lot of pers.
Careful what you wish for or it will be 1 chest/day accountwide. Not per anything just 1 chest.
The problem is, that you actually CAN guest servers to complete events more than once. And regarding the last sentence, i actually wish the chests would be account-bound. Even if i had 8 characters, i would still be able to see the logic behind that change.
There were also someone mentioning the economy. And yes imo the economy will be worse, since named weapons have dropped 10-15 gold in price in a few days.

Why punish people creating alts?
Well, why dont you reverse that statement?
Why punish people not creating alts?
As I said in another post if they were to make it account wide then they might as well erase 7 of my characters and just give me 7 bank slots. Punishing me for making alts is not an option in my eyes.
So if i understand you correctly, you’re only creating alts to able to farm more events and eventually earn more money? You’re not making alts because you’d like to try a different playstyle? I dont get it, but each to his own.
That’s because the example you gave is faulty. It’s not a case of “invest 10 hours in one toon” vs “1 hour in 10 toons”. It’s a case of “invest 10 hours in one toon” vs “invest 100 hours across 10 toons”, but you receive no additional benefit for investing 10 hours on each toon beyond the first.
How is this not a faulty argument? What makes you think people do not invest as much time in one character, as people do by in alts? This is simply not logical.
The point is that exotic named weapons have been dropping by 10-20 gold in just a few days. This is insane. I like this new system, but being able to farm them on all your characters is just stupid. And yes fyi i have more than one lvl 80, i’m just being realistic.
They could raise the amount of karma for participating without receiving a chest, which would result in people still attending the event to gain karma for obsidian shards, items or orrian boxes (Yes, they can be pretty rewarding).
