Make the second precursor.
IF not bound, sell it, make legendary from the bound one
OTHERWISE
Make one legendary
IF not bound, sell it, make second legendary
If you can get the achievement from having twin legendaries without soul bounding them, get it and then sold one legendary.
You always find people to do hero challenge champions… I’m one vista away from perfecting Verdant Brink and did it almost solo…
Bring friends, improve your build, improve your gear quality, balance offense and defense, adapt to your foes weaknesses, use control, read how foes move, dodge.
I always carry a range weapon to fight some of them.
Arrowhead are easy to deal with from range and you can dodge them too
small tip: they roll to you, dodge through them, not away from them.
An ICD at least make a scaling between “alone no-allies” and “enough allies to tick every ICD”.
Self boon only have no scaling at all.
All I can say at this point is that our devs are still hard at work on this issue.
Give them a [&AgEVMQAA] for solving it :D
They “felt” empty but are not. It’s a megaserver bug. Some maps are full, some are empty.
The last attempt to fix it prevented people from switching map xD
What’s wrong with OP’s point? Outworld should be mostly soloable, that’s totally correct.
It’s mostly soloable, just very challenging. Having other people ease it.
It’s as simple as that.
Central Tyria is only soloable, because it’s so boring noone else want to come with you.
The weakness of this trait is that only your chills deal damages.
Only a rework could solve it.
I/
Apply to nearby foes Deathly Chill (9s)
Deathly Chill inflict damages every second if chilled
Number of Targets : 5 | Interval 5s | Radius 600 | Combat Only
(Allies Chill do not prevent damages)
II/
Skills that inflict Chill deal additionnal damages
(Ticks are lost, Chill duration do not matter)
III/
Skills that inflict Chill also inflict Burning for the same duration
Two stack if target life is under 50%
IV/
Skills that inflict Chill also inflict 2x Torment (3s)
If target is below 50% life, one more Torment.
The game crash nearly everytime I try to log a character, or crash after I try to change for an other map.
Bleed and Vulnerability are too easy to apply. These two must be excluded from this.
It let us with Poison, Burning, Torment, Chill, Weakness, Immobilize, Cripple.
It can be balanced with better health/life force gains.
Other ideas I had to give devs more things to consider as solutions:
I/
Merge Chilling Victory into Blighter’s Boon.
With that, Blighter’s Boon by itself is able to be triggered, not needing an other trait to be useful.
And replace Chilling Victory by something else, something benevolent to not be just a matter of DPS and offer choice.
Example : Exorcism
You and nearby allies have reduced incoming condition duration.
-15% Incoming condition duration (9s)
Interval : 5s | Number of Targets : 5 | Radius 600 | Combat Only
II/
Change Warhorn #5 Locust Swarm to give 1.5s Swiftness every tick, so it could be used to trigger Blighter’s boon multiple times even without Spite.
So you could choose to use Spite or Warhorn to trigger the trait.
It add flexibility and untie Blighter’s Boon from Spite trait line.
It make it super easy to reach the 9 stack of Swiftness, but offer some protection against boon striping.
Or give 3s Swiftness every 2 ticks.
And an idea from Reddit:
III/
An ICD specifically for boons from allies to prevent boon class spammers to make it overpowered.
I agree there. Reaper (and Necromancer) are not made for applying boons.
But bleed & vulnerability should be removed from triggering it as it’s easy to apply so much of them.
Ultimately we felt this change helped to make the trait more specific to some builds rather than the best trait in all situations.
It do not work without other traits. :/
If Reaper was about self giving boon, a grandmaster trait synergising with this would be good. But that’s not the case.
Maybe merge Blighter’s Boon with Chilling Victory ?
Chilling Victory : 5s Might when hitting a chilled foe. ICD for the boon : 1s
So at least, even without Spite, there’ll be a way to benefit from Blighter’s Boon consistently.
The 25 Might cap preventing overpowering the trait when coupled with Spite.
As an other idea, with Chilling Victory removal, the trait slot could be filled with a benevolent trait. So you have the choice between selfish power and helping friends, instead of just taking the more effective trait for DPS. An example of benevolent trait:
Exorcism
You and nearby allies have reduced incoming condition duration.
-15% Incoming condition duration (9s)
Interval : 5s | Number of Targets : 5 | Radius 600 | Combat Only
An other way could be to change Warhorn #5 to give 1.5s speed every tick, so it could be used to trigger Blighter’s boon multiple times even without Spite.
So you could choose to use Spite or Warhorn to trigger the trait.
It add flexibility and untie Blighter’s Boon from Spite trait line.
An other idea to complete my previous post :
ICD for ally only, so they can help but not as much as before.
Heavy boon spammers will not overpower the trait.
(not mine, but it comes from a reddit)
Hope incoming New zones will be beautiful landscape like Queendale or Norn stater area
I hope new zones will let us use gliders even if they’re flatter than Maguuma Jungle.
Ultimately we felt this change helped to make the trait more specific to some builds rather than the best trait in all situations.
It do not work without other traits. :/

9/10, as before the change.
+ Challenging open world PvE
+ Complex and consistent story flavored dynamic events
+ Complex and consistent storytelling
+ Guild Halls [Housing & Teamwork]
+ Beautiful landscapes
+ Interesting exploration
+ Gliiiiiiiiiiiiiidiiiiiiiiiing!
+ Fun elite specialisation
(for which I sadly get refunded of 90 hero points I do not know what I will do with)
If you can’t die, there is no fun…
<start auto-attack, alt-tab to youtube/forum/skype a few seconds, walk to an other monster, repeat>
Pretty much what I did before HoT
No need to play 20h a day
I think they, at least, should have split it in two wheels.
One for traits, one for skills. With an “unlock specialisation” button (the first step of the current wheel)
gliding is amazing.
I like the gliding
Same ! I hope gliding will not disappear after Heart of Thorns !
theyre changing tje elite soec requirements. Anyone has any ideas on when will they do it?
Already done.
How much time do spend in the same map before seeing DR?
I never noticed it myself.

@Galandil: I want to know how you could play HoT witout buying HoT…
Also, I was answering to someone claiming that Arena.net would shot him if he don’t dedicate his life to the game…
I know that the other things can be done without HoT, that’s the point.
@HtFde :
No, EU do not let you ask for a refund because something do not match the hype around it.
Actually in EU, it’s very hard to get a refund for video games.
Some example with Steam refunds:

@sirsquishy : “hugely”?
I think you “hugely” exagerate.
There are already people who start Verdant Brink with a not fully unlock Elite Specialisation and have not much trouble from the lack of few traits.
Dollar => Gem conversion is stable.
Gem <=> Gold conversion is unstable.
Gem value never change.
But the more gold coins exists, the less a single gold coin have value.
That’s why prices changes on BLTP. Same for gems.
More gold exists in the game → Gem costs more.
Less gold exists in the game → Gem costs less.
It’s that simple, Arena.net have nothing to do, it balances itself.

“Hold a gun”.
You know you can just not play, or delay it, do Halloween instead, explore old content without rushing, or just enjoy reading books in Durmand Priory… ?
You know you can also just play HoT without doing CT challenges?
You know you can also not use elite specialisation?
I have a second question:
Considering that Skritts minds are linked, that’s how Skritts can increase their intelligence.
What happens if corrupted Skritts comes near the others? Do they link other Skritts to the Dragon?
Both shrouds do not prevent resurrecting people.
Many NPC Charrs have heavy armor + shield + pistol OR sword.
Rytlock isn’t different. Charr skill “hidden pistol” reflect that too.
Rytlock is a warrior as much as other NPC adamant guards.
I consider Staff as a secondary weapon for its utilitary skills, not as a main weapon.
Staff #2 can apply a steady flow of Regeneration on allies, a benevolent component.
Staff #5 can help a downed ally to recover.
And Blood Magic is the most benevolent trait line of Necromancer.
I would not say my idea is panacea, but I’m prone to promote Staff & Blood Magic for futur updates. Some traits could also boost Staff DPS or benevolence.
I didn’t say I don’t enjoy scouting.
I say that from Arena.net point of view, if there are not enough people enjoying doing something that is mandatory, they change it.

Your reasoning is wrong – if I have to play the base game before I can actually use the Expansion why then should I buy the expansion right off instead of just the base game and then see if I like it and get the expansion …
Guess why they changed the deal for new players ….
And now they have to deal with people asking why they bought something that they cannot use right off. It does not make sense.
Are you really suggesting to cripple HoT content so that you can go to Verdant Brink from level 2 fresh new character? o_O
You’re not forced to play the core game, but do not complain it’s hard to directly jump on HoT then.
You do school before university.
You need to be high level with good gear before going to the Heart of Maguuma.
Heart of Thorns is the continuation of Central Tyria, not a replacement.
You can choose between unlocking Elite from a mix of HoT and CT or full HoT.
Pick what you want.
SPOILER
Belinda is a Warrior with a greatsword. Marjory is a Necromancer.
Belinda die. Marjory take her weapon.
Necromancer Elite => Reaper (Greatsword and shouts)
Eir is a Ranger with a longbow. Braham is a Guardian.
Eir die. Braham take her weapon.
Guardien Elite => Dragon Hunter (Longbow and traps)
We have lore <trolling>
And finally, this list is like 20 options long and people are lazy, so the first few options have a statistical advantage over the other options.
True! I missed it. Usually, answers are randomized.

That all said, I do think there is a HUGE problem with the fact that it’s almost impossible (or in some cases very difficult) to solo the hero challenges in the new zones. If someone is serious about unlocking their elite specialization, they should be able to do it with or without their friends and guildies.
Many HoT Challenge are soloable (no fight involved).
And you all CT Challenge are soloable (~200pts).
You can unlock you elite without friends/guilides.
In my ideal world I would’ve played HoT for about two or three hours, have my elite spec fully unlocked and would continue to play the story as my elite spec, instead of playing everything else first because elite spec is so heavily gated that when I get it through natural progression there is not much left to do.
So heavily gated that many players start HoT with half their elite spec unlocked and those who play instead of cry are near or already unlock it fully.

what if i have like 5% map completion and a level 80 character and i want to try the elite in HoT? I first have to collect enough points to even activate the elite and after that i won’t be nearly as powerful as to play HoT with it. it doesn’t help that all hero points in HoT require multiple people.. what happened to “we want you to play the game the way you want to”?
It amaze me how many people consider that Central Tyria is rubbish, leftovers, a waste.
You only did 5% of Central Tyria and want to go to the Heart of Maguuma now?
It’s not because a new content is available that the old one is disposable.
You have a whole world to discover, to explore, to conquer, to learn from.
Heart of Maguuma is amazing, but there still places of Central Tyria that are amazing, wonderful, dangerous.
Central Tyria is still part of the game. If you don’t want to do it, it’s up to you.
Do not stain the game with your laziness, crying for things to be delivered in an express silver plate.
There are already many ways to obtain elite skills. Central Tyria solo challenges, Heart of Maguuma non-fighting challenges, Heart of Maguuma boss fighting.
You had to play at the game, making your character levels to 80 and unlock its full potential before Heart of Thorns.
Now, you have to play at the game, making your character unlock masteries and elite specialisation.
Same thing! And it is not longer! It’s even less time costly. Less crying, more playing.
While you were here, complaining on not having everything instantly, people already unlocked the last elite skill of their specialisation.
Yes, you can play the way you want. But, you’re not playing, you’re crying!
Maybe a requirement of 100% map completion to be able to enable mentor tag on this map?
If you didn’t completed Kessex, no mentoring in Kessex.
If you completed Metrica, you can mentoring in Metrica.
I’d agree to a certain extent but perhaps scale the difficulty if there is a solo player and reward as applicable.
When you say " the game must promote group content over soloing." I’d have to disagree with you there. Given there are a lot of people who solo, there’s a danger of alienating a big percentage of the player base.
I said “promote grouping over soloing”, not “kill soloing” ;)
But crippling the challenge so that the worst players can solo things is worse than making them into improving their skills or asking them to team with others.
There are “four” main players interest types (not exclusive of the others).
Competitors : are PvP-oriented so it’s not a concern for the Heart of Maguuma.
They’re mostly PvP, maybe WvW for Competitors/Socializers.
Explorers : They like to go everywhere, talk to NPC, learn things, know where things are… Danger gives thrills and taste to exploring. With masteries and especially gliders, explorers are enjoying the content. If you want to go somewhere, ask to an explorer.
Socializers : They enjoy the game by playing with others and chating. Even when doing nothing, if they can talk with someone, … they’ll be happy. You want help to do something, ask a socializer.
Achievers : They want to collect everything. Every minis, every achievement, every skin. They like to see the UI full of 100% and one missing number is seen as an annoyance.
It’s for “achievers” than we have split :
- Achievers + Socializers don’t bother helping and being help
- Achievers + Explorers may be mildly annoyed having to delay some goals needing help.
- Achievers + Competitors want to be over everyone else and all by themselves.
Of course, you can be any of the combination of types and have a nice and kind heart or be the worst moron/“behind part hole” of the world. :D
Why not Necro too if you enjoy it?
T3 and WP are useful for everyone, but it’s not a reward for the scout.
Arena.net want people to do things, enjoy them, feel rewarded by the game for doing it.
Not having to do things, be bored by them, and may be rewarded by other players (it’s a bonus).
If you can’t suggest things to make scouting interesting even for not dedicated players, nothing will change :/
Even minigames can be suggested!
Isn’t “chill inflict damages” tied to Power?
MMO means “Massively Multiplayer Online”.
I agree that it do not means you should not play solo, but it’s not meant to make solo playing as “easy and rewarding” than group content.
Group content must be challenging to be interesting.
And the game must promote group content over soloing.
If you can do anything alone, it’s not a MMO.
The new content is pretty well balanced.
You can do things solo :
Some challenges, gathering mats, some events (gathering provisions), going from a place to an other if you’re paying attention to avoid foes and cliffs (do not work if you auto-walk while looking YouTube)
You have mild solo/mild group content :
Events/Bosses/Trains you can join casually and benefit from others players on site without having to coordinate with.
Good players can fully solo them or use trick to solo them. Depends on player skills and class abilities.
You have group content :
Events/Bosses/Trains needing organisation and coordination.
You can’t put marks on the GM to give it a more general options, because marks = staff, which isn’t going to be universal, it has the same issues that a utility-specific GM would have.
Particularly since the Staff doesn’t have very good synergy with Blood Magic in general.
That’s exactly why I suggested that Unholy Martyr added effect could be a change to marks. Exploding instead of fading when reapplied :)
It not feel overpowered, was asked many times before, and add something to bring some love to staff when using Blood Magic.
The trait line first minor trait grant a mark on dodge. Having an other trait related to marks isn’t alien.
An other marks provider is the elite skill Lich Form. Marked for Death can be cast twice per transformation.
A friend of me had the same bug at an other point of storyline.
After she completed the whole “line”, her own unlock as if she didn’t do mine.
But there are no way to “reset” it sadly. Only way to change it is delete and recreate the character. Arena.net will do nothing for you in this case.
The main issue is : Scouting is boring most of the time and reward nothing.
If you could think of a way to make scouting interesting, it would be different and Arena.net would probably remove auto-scouting.
But they need to GROUP first.
è_é That was not written on the game box we would need social skills and be forced to be play with others for maximum benefits!!!!
*joking* It’s known as a MMO :D And I never been bothered to help people or ask help.

Keep hating…
So I leveled a Engi in one week, got this fancy ascended hammer with that Uber skin, and even a cool and awesome armor skin for him (It was 800 gems for god sake) with that gas mask i totally looked like an Engie wet dream with tools for total destruction and unlimited coolness.
But when i logged for the first time i was "400? 400 fudging points? You mean i will have to play this class that i totally hate for like ALL the expansion? That i have to grind for points in old Tyria when i’m alone in the map? OHHHHH just fudge you.
My wet dream of being an engie with a uber hammer will have to wait forever.
Move your “behind part”, just waypoint to hero challenges in Tyria (you already farm a week with a “totally hated class”, there you just have to waypoint and click…), unlock the easy HoT challenge (those without fight).
Long before coming to Verdant Brink you’ll have you hammer equipped…
I did that and I came to Verdant Brink with already half the traits and spells unlocked.
I’m one step away from unlocking my grandmaster trait and complete my build to its full potential. Didn’t end Verdant Brink yet.
We have 2 or 3 weeks to figure if it’s tied to an halloween recipe.
As said before : invisible shoes => king’s garment / Mad King Thorn => king
Maybe a loot from him?
In the current state of the participation only Thief have “unpleased” over “pleased”.
But the data are very unreliable (too few people voted).
We need 1000 votes per class for them to start being reliable.
Maybe a “joke recipe” for tailor? Like the story of the king’s garments?

That’s where I disagree. It very much is a grind especially for returning players who left around or before fractals and ascended gear. When we left the core principles were somewhat still in place, and the game was very casual friendly.
I returned to new gear, new currency, new UI, completely different spec layouts and progression. Not only that the expansion or something somewhere has added hero points and masteries I have to figure out just to progress. Want to glide, well you have to train gliding “Sounds like Eve, I hate Eve.” You have to do that for literally every new aspect of the new expansion. On top of that I can’t even max out my build on my maxed out character, I need to spend hero points to get there, and I’m starting at the daunting number of 20 of those completed.. None of the new zone is casual friendly it’s almost entirely group driven, and now hidden behind jump things and glide things and poison things.. You name it….
That is a complete 180 from what this game was supposed to be about..
For now, I was focusing on discovering the Verdant Brink and everything unlock itself while discovering Verdant Brink.
I did some events, try to reach some challenge and mastery points, made my way to some places I wanted to see, trying to figure if there is something to do there or if I’m just lost.
There were not a moment where I had to think “you must farm events to unlock masteries”.
I just enjoyed the content with friends.
I’m already half through Verdant Brink and already unlocked Glider rank 3 and other mastery branches too. I have four area to explore, I don’t fear to run out of content to do and my masteries will pex alon while doing other things.
Your character is not max out. It’s an expansion, your character is not max out anymore and you have new things to do to “re-max it”. Because there are more things now than before.
Casual do not mean solo or easy. It means you have not 10h per day to play, but it’s not important.
After the first few minutes of discovering that it’s not faceroll monsters, I became more careful and started paying attention to the monsters.
Then, I didn’t have too much trouble wandering as I wanted in the area. Dodge at the right time, avoid that big road to pick this little path in the cliff, jump there.
Exploration is rewarded by making you learn how to go somewhere fast or safe.
We don’t kill every mobs, only the more annoying and focused on vinetenders (the only thing that matter for the event).
When we died, we came back asap.
