I completely agree with you. Currently, defiant work as a complete immunity to prevent that player can permastun a boss/champion.
But it make control useless and unpredictable when control could be a tactical tool.

I have some ideas in my mind that can be mix with your to provide game mechanism variation.
For a dungeon for example. The boss have the defiant thing and players can remove them during the battle, but they can’t apply any control when defiant is removed. When the boss will do his big everyone-will-die attack, each control applied after the defiants faded reduce the strength of the attack or remove the “you will die even if you’re rolling” effect.
I say “die” but it can be an undodgeable chilling, knockback, stun, weakness…
To make things more interesting, the control is counted only if applied in a short window so player have to carefully wait the better moment to use their control.

The other idea is that “Control” are converted instead of nullified.
Daze => Blind
Stun => Weakness
Knockback/Pull => Cripple
Knockdown => Chill

Last idea is that control became part of boss mechanism.
I remembered old games where you have to stun the boss to be allowed to hit him for a small time window. After that the boss go berzerk and you run to save your life and retry to stun him again until his death.

Do you remember the fractal boss Ice Elemental that you need to put him under melt iron to make him vulnerable ? What if you had to pull/knockback him under the flow ?

10% is 10%, not 12%…

Damage crit formula is Damage x (1 + Critical percent x (0.5 + Critical bonus))
Full Exotic Berzerk + Eagle Runes + Fury have :
79% critical chance and 69% critical bonus
69 – 10% = 62.
(1+0.79*(0.5+0.69)) = 1.94
(1+0.79*(0.5+0.62)) = 1.885
Real damage lost is 1-(1.885/1.94) = 2.85%

In the hypothetical case of 100% critical chance and 85% critical bonus (76% after the patch), it will be only a 3.83% damage reduction.

Just buff ?

If A.net just buff everything, after some patch you will faceroll every content without doing anything because you will do 999 999 damages per hit.

Also, it’s easy to decrease one spell instead of increase the 999 others.

I used your assistance support.
When I’ve deleted my character and remembered about the tools I open the in game support window and click on a button that open a web page.

It’s the ticket 266 234 “Oubli désastreux”.
I’ve received a mail saying that my ticket was correctly registered.
After that I’ve received some mails but never give informations when answering.

They ask for the right to connect my account (I just answer “yes”) and that they have changed my password and that I can’t change it until they have solved my ticket.
I’ve test it and I can’t log in to the game currently. I post this just because I’m logged to the forum (for this moment)

Hi!
I sent a ticket to the support and they do two things that I don’t understand. I just ask for the recovery of my infinite tools (I deleted a character and forgot to put them in the bank before).

They’ve asked to use my account and changed my password. Just why ?
Can’t they juste check my account without it ? Just look in the database that I’ve buy the infinite tools 2 weeks ago and that they’re not in my bank or on a character ?
Why have they to lock my account and create a character on it (They created a Norn named “Testytesty” ?

It’s not phishing because I’ve not give my password.

How do I make Warrior interesting??

I’ve got a 80 Warrior and thing it’s boring. Traits are passive improvements of skills. Skills stay passive. Warrior lack of active skill.

Physical skills are the only active skills of the warrior that do something but they’re too weak.

Kagamiku : I like Heavy armor and dislike Guardian “GP Spirit”. Warrior GP need “fun improvements”.

Question 1: How are imprison sorcerers ? I think steel bars aren’t enough to prevent a magic escape.

Hi! Thanks for the topic ^^
As a roleplayer, I have many questions about GW2 lore.
I will begin specifically with Charrs seen that I’m in a Charr RP guild and we’re not alone.

How Charr’s pregnancy work (biologically & socially)?
Is it more like tiger (2-3 kittens/3-4 months) or like human (1 baby/9 months)?
Pregnant females stay working until the end, do they have maternity leave, or receive civil assignment during pregnancy?

Please, can we have an average Charr growing timeline?
This is a mess when we need to date our backgrounds. ^^
At what age a kitten joined and leave the Fahrar?
At what age a Charr is biologically a teenager and an adult?
I’ve seen roleplayers that have adult 5 years old Charrs and others with a 15 years old teenager.

How Charr deal with their health and hygiene?
Did the Black Citadel have an hospital?
Charr are the most advanced technology race, but what level have they reached in medicine?
Do they have drugs, vaccines, surgery or do they count on metabolism and immune system?
Players assume that Charrs stink, but cats clean themselves and the Black Citadel have showers modelled. Do they feel the need to take showers regularly or at least to be clean?

How is Charr daily life ?
Are Gladiums molested by the others?
Do Charrs have the meaning of money or did they discover it when becoming Gladiums?
Seen that legions manage everything, are soldiers paid or did they just receive ration tickets for alcohol at the tavern?
There is things that are toxic for Charrs and not for the others races? Like dogs who be poisoned by chocolate.

How is Fahrar life?
Is it socially accepted to be in a Fahrar when our parents are Gladiums? Is it only possible?
Each legion have its speciality, but what kind of teaching young Charrs can have at the Fahrar?

Have you suggestions of alternatives to see more Charrs of the High Legions without stucking them with the military chain of command?
Many Charr roleplayers I encountered feel the need to play Gladiums to explain the lack of warband and to be free to go where they want and not to be stuck at the Black Citadel when not in mission.

How is the Ebonhawk treaty going?
Have Humans and Charrs relations evolved since?
Do Charrs have the right to enter in Ebonhawk?

For the “can’t login” issue. Have she disabled Browser Referrer ? It’s a useless feature allowing a site to know from which page you’re coming, but Arena.net require a “valid” referrer to log in.

Warrior mechanism improvement

At the beginning, I thought that stance are sequence skills to toggle them offensive & defensive way. Or like Lingering Elements.

Imo, banners and “For Great Justice!” do the same job. You use it as soon as they’re available to benefits from the bonus and do nothing more after that.

“For Great Justice!” should be renamed “Shoot them!” imo. It feel absurd with a Charr to roar “For Great Justice!”.

I could also suggest a new shout : “Hold on!”, defensive version.
Grant Protection (5sec) and Regeneration (10sec) to allies (600m) with a 30sec recharge rate.

Properly used, “Hold on!” will allow Warrior to mitigate damage input to help allies in a more prideful way than a passive +170 toughness/vitality buff.

I agree that banners are useful and the least funny utilities Warrior have.
If upgraded : perma regen + dps increase to the party by hitting a button every 96sec.
So much fun here… So disappointing T_T

Hi!

I’m here to talk about warrior mechanism.
I found the warrior lack of some richness in its gameplay.

- 4x Banner : passive bonus AoE
- 4x Signet : passive bonus + “give me all now instead” option
- 2x Shout : regular bonus AoE
- 4x Stance : temporary bonus with very long cooldown

Bonus isn’t fun. It’s useful, but not FUN.

Have you this feeling too ? Do you think that Warriors need some spice ? Have you any ideas how to improve warrior utilities ?

It’s because after the lvl 30 you leave racial storyline for order storyline. It’s a reverse tree.

Racial storyline (5 races / 2×3 choices) [1 – 20]
Racial to Order storyline (5 races) [20 – 30]
Order storyline (3 order) [30 – 50]
Pact creation storyline [50 – 60]
Pact storyline [60 – 80]

Charr have two issues : Armor clipping & lack of information about their non-human traits (pregnancy, growing rate, Fahrar step, Fahrar teaching, wages).
But they’re worth it.

I apologises for the misunderstanding.

What I call “strong defined role” is that you can’t go support or control or pure DPS because of an adamant system. Support or Control must be a question of skill selection (weapons & utilities) more than gear stats. If not, you can fall in a bad behaviour where people reject players because they don’t fit the role needed.

If it’s only which skill you’re using, anyone in the party can take a more support or control role for the fight by switching is utilities. If no one can do the “full support way”, everyone can partially go support and teamwork will balance this.

I tend to play with my friends, and if one don’t fit in the “needing role”, I’ll have a bad taste in the mouth if we can’t just switch some utilities and have to reject him/her.

Also a flexible mechanism allow to switch all along the road to adapt to each encounter. First boss need control ? Everyone take at least one control skill. Last boss need support ? Everyone take at least two support skill !
On player love to support and an other is bad at supporting ? Not a problem too !

AR slot is a possibility. If Arena.net unlock higher levels of Fractals, they can require more agony resistance. It could be an “account bound AR slot” seeing that fractals level is account bound. Weapons always have AR slot available (just an update of current ascended weapons).

When you reach a specific level of fractal, a new AR slot is considered on armor.
50 : 1 slot
60 : 2 slot
70 : 3 slot
80 : 4 slot
90 : 5 slot
100 : 6 slot

It can be on any armor item, but if you only reach level 70 fractals, only 3 slots are considered, the bonus of the other armor items isn’t considered (similar to dynamic level).

36 points for a whole armor.
I don’t ask for better stats, but the investment is currently worthless. If ascended gear have side bonuses to compensate, it will increase their interest.

If you give to each boss the same identical mechanism, it’s stupid to have different boss.
If immunity became useless against boss, they became useless in the whole game because you don’t need them for trash mobs.

But I agree that mechanism that prevent pack of full static zerk will allow much diversity. A boss much have at least one skill that can’t be completely dodge by rolling.
Examples :
- Perma poison
- Regular waves (from the boss or to the boss)
- Damaging aura for closer player
- Survival phase when the boss go berzerk
- Adds that are a real threat not just “shoot them casually and go back on the boss”
- Undodgeable shoot (If no one is shoot, the skill have a dramatic issue instead).

The regular waves thing can be “freeze” to give time to jump over each wave.

For strong defined role, it will kill the game diversity and cleave players. “Oh you’re a [role X], we need a [role Y], you can’t come”. Currently you can adapt you’re role by changing your utilities and (partially alas) by changing weapon.
These rotten traits “-20% cooldown for weapon X” can disallow this if the trait isn’t in the good trait row.
Changing role must be a matter of utilities/weapon/traits (in a system where traits isn’t tied to traits row).

More than simply “dark option”, why the tail is always white ?
If a player select red/brown fur, the tail must follow.
It’s why so many female Charr are white/grey/black, because when the fur is colored, the tail stay white/grey.

I don’t hate Scarlet, I hate her Mary Sueism.
She’s not a talented villain, she’s a villain with an aura of foolishness and an absurdly compact resume. When she’s display, every character became so stupid they let her chat and leave casually. Take your ******* rifle and head shot her !
And the NPC are talking all time how she’s so brilliant, so machiavellian, so better than us, so “everything goes as planned”. Marry her !
She control Kraits, Nightmare Court, Flame Legion, Dredges, Aetherblade pirates.
When they’re defeated ? She don’t care, she has reach her goal and it’s not a a defeat…
She’s too perfect to fail.
She studied in the three Asuran University in only one year for each, learned Charr technology from an Iron Legion Charr and Norn blacksmithing and mastered it in only one year for each. She was accepted in the Inquest (which is racist but not for her) and steal some of their technology…

It’s also my #1 above all. I add to this category the Lore Codex or any lore source, improvement and tools.

Who has the longest?

Not all people play GW2 to show that they are better/richer/stronger than the others.
There are players who enjoy the game for his fun, not for virtual pride.

You can’t satisfy pride craving in a MMORPG except by digusting more players than you will satisfy. It a pyramid : a huge base of disgusted players and a small top of prideful people.

Arena.net would do better to improve personal fulfillment instead. It’s more profitable and benefit to all players. Make people enjoy what they achieve is the best way.

Why should I be forced to pay for the development of another class if I didn’t care about that class?

It’s not the same.
Why do you pay taxes for things you don’t use ?
Because it help to develop and maintain the [city/state/game] attractivity.
Imagine that what you like in the game is like by a minority and Arena.net choose to not spend his money to improve it but other things apprently more profitable or, worst case, they remove the feature of the game to save server capacity. Will you stay or leave revolted ?

If any of these little things stay decaying, people will leave the game. Until the game finally die because of a too little player base.

Separate game content will make this happen. And because what make a game attractive is it’s richness of little things, you can’t do that.

In business it’s called the “long tail”. Especially for virtual content, the long tail is the most benefical support.

Imagine a shop. People buy products many times in quantity (milk, eggs, potatoes…).
It’s 20% of the shop products, but it’s reponsible for 80% of the shop earnings.
It’s statistical, look for Pareto distribution.
So, why the shop don’t sell only these 20% products ? It will save places and storage costs.
If you can’t find toothpaste, toothbrush, papers, pen or glue stick in the shop when needed, will you continue to shop here ? Perhaps you never need pen or glue sticks, but other people will want it. If the shop stop sells of pen and glue sticks, people will go shop somewhere else. There still be this 20% products / 80% earnings. Progressively, the shop will offer less and less products, lose clients and finally bankrupt.

In GW2 case, it’s virtual. No storage cost. It’s only 0 and 1 you can copy at will without any cost of recrafting. So, these 80% of side content making 20% of profit cost nearly nothing in storage, only in making. It’s the long tail from the beginning. It support the 20% things providing 80% of players.

So, let these elements tied in an expansion pack.

So what is the PvE going to be about? Skins are already gem store exclusive. Stuff like new back pieces or minis are not enough to make people interested in new content.

And new professions are NOT something that you need! It was far worse to not have some profession in Gw1 since you need it there for your secondary. But its different here. You don’t need a new profession to keep playing the one you already have.

The PvE is about defeating threats, learn about the story, collect materials to make better armors and weapons.

Professions are not a fashion only thing. It have his own mechanism. If a new profession appeared, some players will take it because of the gamestyle. It can cause balancing issues, profession denial…

Why is it okay for other games to charge you 60$ for an expansion that includes a new race or class, but GWII is not allowed to sell those things seperately?

Not the same paradigm.

  • In gemstore it feel like : Hey ! If you pay more than the other you will have a better class ! Let the ugly tasteless classes to the others and pick this shining one, you deserve it !
  • In expansion it feel like : During the last two years we have developed new content and improvement for some game mechanisms.

Believe me. When I’m very convinced about something, then this!

Orpheal, stop your adamant statements about “subclasses is the best”. You haven’t any little bit of proof. It’s just “I think that, so it is” or “I don’t like that, so it mustn’t be”.

You can already choose your weapon, that provide specific skills. You don’t fight the same way with a staff than with daggers.
You can select Traits that add various effects to your Utilities that can improve specific playstyle. You can go full berzerk with only offensive Traits or half support, full support, controller, cleanser…
After that you can pick Utilities and Elite and Heal skills. Depending of your gamestyle.
With the Stats you can improve your character the way you want. Full berzerker, assassin, or soldier making you strong, deadly or tough. And you can mix it.

Minion Necromancer ? There are already traits for that. Support Elementalist ? There are already traits for that. Close combat Elementalist ? There are already traits for that. Support Warrior ? There are traits for that too.

You think that people need to loose time to obtain these in a subclasses system ? When I see the rate of weapon skill unlock, I think Arena.net agree with us that people are here to play with the character they want, not for having the character they want after weeks of grinding gamestyle.
We already have to level to 80 to unlock all Traits points to be allowed to fully customize our character. It’s enough ! Fair requirement for people to know their class and learn some things about their gameplay and gamestyle.

You can already see and feel your character progression. Make a new character of the same class, you will see the difference between a character with all their traits and utilities and a character with a weak armor, no utilities and no traits improvement.

Kitchen noob is level 1, five star chef is level 80 full ascended. That’s not an argument.

Also you ask that subclasses are more powerful. It’s useless, will unbalance the game and it’s vertical progression.

Recognition ? Already existing. I’ve seen Necromancer with five minions, some have zero minions but pop many AoE. When I see a warrior banners poping regularly, I know it’s a support and when I see a row of Signet buff, it’s clearly a selfie.

Damage isn’t a valid indicator of a good player. Heal, boons, rally, avoiding damages, purge, control, activating special mechanisms…

Also the better player can be a complete @$$µø!£ and I like to play with a nice noob more than a powerful @$$µø!£…

It’s vertical progression and I disagree. Level up skills make that people can’t switch to other skills because they aren’t trained. Look at the weapon skill unlock, it’s very easy.
Also it will make down leveled players more powerfull than low level players more than currently.

Holy Trinity is boring as hell, it’s just that special fight mechanism hide this fact.

Tank just move out of AoE and wait the moment to buff himself with a shield to counter boss special attack.
Healer spam heal on Tank, AoE heal when the boss blasted an area full of DPS because they can’t avoid.
DPS spam attacks on boss, leaving the area when they sey that the boss is casting a mortal blasting during ten seconds.

Today I was in dungeon. I have to manage my life and alterations, help fallen mates, check that my banners are healing everyone, sacrifice my life to save a mate that has few HP and pass the baton when I’m taking too much damages. All of that when ensuring my part of the DPS.

If you play well in GW2, you can do the content easily and if one of the group die, you can continue. If you don’t know what to do or do stupid things you will die soon.
The stress is for all !

In an other MMO if the heal or the tank die… You can jump in the first AoE and retry from the beginning. You have no choice than die and retry until people do no mistake at all. I’ve played Heal and Tank already and it’s boring as hell when it happen. And it happen many times because of the 999 999 999 HP boss have that make a fight “epic” with half an hour of fighting a giant dragon… It’s not hard to spam heal or shield spell, but easy to miss one in a long fight.

GW2 could and should have fight improvement and new fight mechanism for boss, but let them work on it and suggest things instead of asking to rebuild the game from the beginning.

But HM Zone need an interest for players not interested by challenges.
So it means new content (resource, equipment, recipes). And it imply that the old stuff became useless…

Because a HM Zone will be a “general” HM, not a personal HM as I suggested. Or an expansion.
Personal HM let player choose what level of difficulty he want, without impose it on others.

Some people think that the dynamic level mechanism is too light to be a real “HM”, it’s why I suggested that players be allowed to set it to decrease more their level.

I understand truly your opinion Conner because I hate it too.
It’s why I suggested an “hard mode” that is personal instead of general (Dynamic level setting)

Err… Almost any idea here will increase server load. Why it’s important that server will have one sum and one more integer to consider ?
