Phy, that is still a poor approach… Intentionally making something bad? Why not just put progressive effort into each armor tier?

It doesn’t have to suck to begin with. :/

To Mungrul,

  • Sorry, but the human body is Art. With, or without clothes. If sexual attractive is must for you to be able to view such a thing, that is your cup of tea/own insecurity. I can respect appearances without being a creeper or a pre-pubescent child. Thanks.

On a side note, some people do enjoy a more covered character. Ones that do not lack style in doing so.

It would be nice to see some less-exposed female armors that retain their artiness. And, some more… exploratory male armors. (I would also like to see more armors with their current expose-ed-ness.)

Also, I design my character to look like myself. So, in what you said: Anyone checking me out is a child or a pervert?

The Human, Sylvari, Asura? Charr? Bodies are beautiful things. And I am all for displaying their beauty. I just feel it is equally important to give those of us who do not enjoy exposure to be given the option to dress more casually.

Tim, just because one game sucked, doesn’t me we have to suck as well. (; Guild Wars 1 had amazing armors. Lets at least make this game on equal playing fields as it’s previous game. :P

  • And although this is a discussion about armor, I would like to address one more thing: People constantly talk about Guild Wars having “unrealistic body types.”

So, along with a picture of my characters face, I have attached some pictures of myself, and what I try to emulate in my in-game character.

  • I am taking it that everyone is mature, personality wise. And can handle a picture of a shirtless person. I have provided such a picture simply for demonstration purposes. Their is no sexual content in any of these photos. Just giving you a heads up just in case.

As you can see, I tried to match the facial structure. I would have picked a mohawk, but the one provided is a little much for me. xD My body is fairly accurate to the in-game character, except my is a bit more tone and a little less meaty. My “Adventure Armor” is obviously different, because real life is not Guild Wars… ); I’d had a lifetime dream of paying a leatherworker to make me Norn Armor in real life. Like, wear it. For real… Around town. (Guild Wars 1, Norn Armor*)

Sorry for the miss-matched character armor. Guild Wars 2 has still not fixed the severe bug that causes all Hall of Monument rewards to be unable to be applied to your character. Armor, as well as weapons…

Also, I would like to see more fit characters. We are battling evil right? We should be fairly toned from being so active!

Guild Wars 2, I feel has stepped away from letting a player truly make their build. Weapons currently define your role. Coming from Guild Wars 1, and enjoying customization first hand… this is unacceptable.’

To help improve this, I have spent many hours devising a way to make it so that players such as yourself can run your own custom builds and play your own way without falling sub-par.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LanceHavenbay.2067

LanceHavenbay.2067

I fully agree. The collectors edition for GW2 wasn’t that great. The Rytlock is cool… The tin is cool… The frame is meh. The music is just… wow. What a waste.

I payed $160. 60 was for the game… 20 for the time. 20 for the frame/pictures. 20 for the pictures? 60 for the charr? And the music was just a “here you go… go buy this.”

The Bradley guide should have been included. There is so much awesomeness and love put into that book.

But I mean… Hey. If ebay can sell pictures of expensive items… Anet can sell 6 songs…

Target Closest Foe

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: LanceHavenbay.2067

LanceHavenbay.2067

Does not actually target closet foe… it targets the foe that is in your line of sight. Often time, it does not even target the “closest” foe. The game draws an imaginary line in front of me, and “something” withing that line becomes the target. It isn’t even always the closest. This is extremely frustrating while playing a melee Ranger.

Please make “Target Closest Foe” actually target the closest foe. In any direction.

Why is there no Body blocking?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LanceHavenbay.2067

LanceHavenbay.2067

Make it the same as Guild Wars 1. Monsters can block you. You can block enemy players, but you can walk through friendly characters.

Now it cannot be abused. Only used tactically.

Guild Wars 2 has lost nearly all tactical elements.

80 levels worth of longcoats and bandit masks has exhausted my interest in the aesthetic completely. I can only hope that the Halloween update introduces something new and interesting by way of medium armor sets. Maybe even costume slots like in GW1, so I can actually participate in combat wearing something very cool. Perhaps something like Raiment of the Lich from the first game.

I fully agree. I think you would be very happy to see this post:

I support contested waypoints, and I think there should be a lot more of them. Events should effect your game in a way that forces you to play it. Given, the events need to be much less repetitive and branch out before I ever want them contesting more waypoints.

You have to do that just a little bit, because of how the terrain is programmed. Otherwise some walls would still be climbable. Nothing is blatantly obvious as a wall unless you are in an ocean. And then, they have no other choice but to put a wall.

Hey, so. I lied, and you can disregard part of this post. Managed ti find a competent team and it seems like it will only take a short time to get at least one set of gear, regardless of stats. Grind for crafting/other means is still a matter.

Managed to fit time in to do Twilight Arbor and it was significantly quicker than grinding in Ascalon Catas.

Ty Sin. And than you to other who pointed out that my previously doing AC was why dungeons felt grindy. Seems like AC has a lot of leavers/players who cannot work together. xD

Why does it seem like gear is still important in Guild Wars 2? Trying to find a max damage anything is near impossible unless you are rich.

Plenty of people on these forums fight tooth and nail claiming that Guild Wars 2 is not a gear grind. I beg to differ. This is not a cosmetic only game, if max damage items are hardly obtainable without vast grinding.

In Guild Wars 1, plenty of things were max damage. Everything was cosmetic.

So ether you:
-Get rich.
-Get rich/grind crafting.
-Grind Dungeons.
-Get a lucky, perfect drop.

I believe I am missing the part about Guild Wars 2 being a grind-free game.

I know I give you guys/girls a hard time a lot, and you are probably waiting for me to slip up so that you can feed me to the Grasping Ghouls this year… xD

But, I wanted to say thank you for having such a crisp environment. Many games have a foggy, or have grainy feel to them. Your world is very refined, very bright. Not too much bloom, not too much fog. Everything is simply perfect.

Also, you put a lot of work into terrain functionality. I spent lots of time working with designing maps for some much older games… I can really respect the effort you put into securing each and every corner. There are some flaws, but they are far spread… and few. Most of the “flaws” that I find are more of an adventure than a “bug.” Being able to scale a mountain in this game is simply breathtaking!

Crispness and clarity gets a 10.
Environmental design gets a %9.999999. (Better than anyone else!)

The thing I admire so much about your environments:
You are not blocked by an invisible wall. The mountainside actually prevents you from exploring further. You create more than a game. You created a world. An you did a dang god job with it!

I own all champions. It just takes more skill, and a solid build. In fact, I like to take things to the next level and aggro as many enemies as I can, (usually 20) and fight them all at once. Centaurs are super fun, so are Skritt. Champion Trolls? BEST. Those and their little buddy spawns are awesome to fight.

I would however like to see greater rewards for soling these events. I find myself taking the time to do these group-events solo when nobody is around and I get a meager 1 silver… I could get that killing 3-8 deer right next door…

I vote to keep Champions as hard as they are, but up the rewards for soloing.

To Timbersword, “I’d like for our personalities (charm, dignity, ferocious) to have some affect on our non-combat stance.”

That is perfection. That would be a GREAT way to go as a developer. I feel it would add much more enjoyment and add a sense of importance to building your personality.

Please add Guild Wars 1 emotes:

-beg
-Boo/scare
-bored
-bowhead
-attention
-catchbreath
-clap
-congrats
-cough
-doh(headsmack)
-doubletake
-drums
-excited
-/rank (add it to pvp titles please)
-flex
-goteam
-guitar
-helpme
-highfive
-moan (whine)
-paper
-Pickme
-pout
-ready
-roar
-rock
-roll <#> (for betting/events)
-scissors
-scratch (hilarious! as if you have bugs all over)
-shoo
-sigh
-sorry
-stand (for getting up from sit without moving.)
-taunt
-violin
-yawn

Emotes: Yet another thing Anet seriously neglected, downgraded and otherwise left to die. You really have should have built off what you already had… Time restraints were not an issue, if the game was coming out “when ready.” You did an amazing job with the commando. Why did you simply ignore parts of the game? Emotes, and the call system… probably two of the biggest cases of developer neglect I’ve seen from Anet.

I believe that adding more emotes will help promote a much more social-able community, and allows players to interact in new ways. Thus, enjoying the game more. Emote parties are fun! Plus is allows people to make better dance videos, movies, etc, using Guild Wars 2.

And, I’ve wished this for ages and was disappointed to no end when it did not happen:
Please allow us to choose what dance our character does…

Oh and… I’d pay to have my GW1 dances back. Like. I’d pay 1800 gems for a Dancepack. Done deal my friend.

ANet would never add that as an option for the PvE world, that would cause so many problems with duel spammers and “look at this chicken, he’s disabled dueling requests haha!”, you can see it coming a mile away. Dueling in a PvP instance that is only accessible from the Heart of the Mists however is something that would avoid all of this without damaging the cooperative atmosphere of PvE.

Also, this belongs into the suggestion subforum.

People would be like that regardless. You can always ignore someone anyways. Many games, people will not fret if you have Dueling off.

Actually, I was developing a Dueling system. It can be found here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Abridged-Improved-Combat-System/first#post455123

Just Control F the world “Duel.”

Also, not doing something in fear of criticism shows a lack of confidence and a lack of healthy character. If we all hid from ensnarement, the world would never progress. Get out of your shell and live a little.

in Suggestions

Why? Just press F a couple times and you get all of the above. xD I’d rather loot before we wipe. And it takes 1/2 second to loot, and I can still revive in the same time frame. It is a win-win.

The bigger issue for me is being stuck if you accidentally interact with an object while looting or reviving in combat.

That skill channel is… ow. You sit there helplessly as you get mauled. No fun…

Please make trading post armors:
(Possibly)-Multi-armor. Lights can wear “heavy armor” etc.

-Makes armors not be a one time use. Aka, once you purchase them from the post, they are unlocked on your account for anytime use. Have a Costume Keeper NPC in each of the many cities, or a tab in your bank vault. (Or both.) OR, access from anywhere. (;

This is how it would look:

Basically, costume pieces can be mixed and matched. You simply click the Jester hat for a costumes panel. Once in the panel, you simply drag the costume pieces you want into their appropriate slot and VIOLA! You are wearing a costume. Also, like Guild Wars 1, you will have settings for where you want to display your costume. Some people don’t want to be too silly in PvP areas. (;

Perhaps even give costumes a collectibles tab. If nothing else, the Costume Keeper will always suffice.

So there you go. A costume system that is simple, easy to use, easy to manage. And it allows players easy access to their costumes in a fun and quick manner. No more transmutation stones. Everything is all in one area. Plus it saves people a ton of hassle.

The little “gears” are only visible when you have the Jester Hat toggles. Just like your dye. And the little icon, Eye, Swords, etc will replace the gear if a costume is being worn, if a costume is present. That way you know what is being displayed, and what is not… minus the obvious fact that if you are wearing it, you will see it.

While the costume tab is not toggles, you will not see the costume item icon, just the symbol of how you display it. The item icon for costumes is only present while the tab is toggle. When the tab is not toggles, you would see your armor item icon like normal.

-Please make Hall of Monument armors, a costume! It is a pain transmuting all the time. Even if I do get silly achievement points.

  • If you like this idea, please make sure to leave a comment below and a +1. Lets get this implemented people! <3

Remember, if you like it… if you like something a lot. Share it with everyone you know! Make it happen!

If you managed to do this by Halloween, I would seriously say to expect much more costume purchases.

LanceHavenbay.2067

1st things 1st: I don’t find the game stale in any way, shape, or form. However, I am always open to more ideas that can add even more depth to the combat system.

For starters, Lance, I really like the idea of having multiple skill options for weapon skills. My only concern is… why? When a weaponset is already balanced and achieves a set goal, why add more skills for no reason?

First off, thank you very much. It is great to see players with the mindset, “I’m always open for improvement.” And contributing their ideas in a well thought out manner.

The reason is more for variety than functionality. Yes, the current skills are balance. I have a pair of shoes that get the job done, but I also have a second pair of shoes that perform in a different way with equal balance. This system is to allow people creativity in their bar without disrupting functionality.

Like you said:

  • Each weapon has a set role. The beauty about Guild Wars 1 was that
picking a weapon, or even a profession did not cage you in and sage THIS IS WHAT YOU MUST BE. And, following the artistic side of the game. Many people like walking around with their awesome looking weapon. In Guild Wars 1, people would bring this item even if they could not use it effectively. It was another way to make the game more enjoyable. Bringing my VS, Tormented shield, etc.
  • Another reason behind it, is if Guild Wars 2 is going to be a competitive game, it NEEDS variety. Why? With so few bars, and so few ways to play… There is no surprise. Nothing new to keep the crowd ooing and awing. Look at that Warrior with a sword! He is running… oh… condition damage. Like everyone else. You are forced into specific specs. It is sad, and it is really bad for the longevity of the game.

And for many people, simply changing your bar is much more fun than having to completely re-role your character to a different profession.

You are not rude at all. You should have seen previous posters raging at me for having different ideas than them. It was a hate crime! xD

  • 3 Different/interchangeable Warriors is much more pleasing to an audience, that seeing a Warrior and knowing what he has. If the audience already knows what you have and how you run, then their really is not much excitement and reason to watch the fight in the first place.

*Now, traits and gear:

  • Yes, they SLIGHTLY effect how you can play. But you are still forced into the role your weapon gives you. If you try to squeeze out, you become extremely ineffective. It will render most skills on your weapon bar useless.

If I run Power/Precision on my sword, I want to be able to use it for real. Not pretend that I use it. That is about the best you can do right now. Pretend you have power with a sword.

Sacros basically said it for me.

Thank you very much for your reply. I look forward to hearing back from you soon!

Don’t get me wrong here, I like what you are doing but we have to make sure that sort of power creep doesn’t funnel into GW 2 again as it did in GW 1.

I appreciate that. And no, this doesn’t even add enough skills to count as another class. It isn’t that hard to balance at all. It will not fall into that rut. Plus, the system for Guild Wars 2 is entirely different. It is practically impossible because each profession is just a flavor of the same thing. The only way to fall into that rut would be to change the system entirely. And this project does not change the functionality of the system, it just refines what it already has.

-When I think of when it’s done, I think of the repetitive event systems… H
-ow they should branch out more, but rather, they just cycle on repeat all day long…
-Or the fact that most of the game is a faceroll of the same skills day in and day out.
-The dungeons do not feel epic anymore…
-The armors are ugly, and there are not many to choose from…
-The game never gets any harder… Level 80 zone is just as much a walk in the park as the starter area is… Unless I’m just in God-Mode.
-The PvE enemy variety feels like it goes down as you progress. Less drakes, bandits, wasps… more Risen Brutes, Risen Brutes and more Risen Brutes.
-Titles have no meaning anymore. Me salvaging does not make me even the slightest bit better. I also have no lockplicks for chests…
-PvP needs Fort Aspenwood. (Like what I designed in my sig-link.) Aka, a fast to join, fast to fight PvP format with attack and defend roles.
-The chat feature for ! @ # $ is not /map /say /party. They made it harder to chat…
-Call target has been dummed down 5x more than what it was. You cannot ping your health, endurance or even what skill you are using on what target. You can only ping the target itself. Not much work was put into this system…

Bugs can be fixed. I’m fine with bugs. Lacking content. Bleh. Do not release a game with lacking content.

lorazcyk.8927, add me on Guild Wars 1. Lance Havenbay.

Sadly, I have not seen another game like Guild Wars 1.

" Many things from GW1 should be put in this GW." Many functions were not added… the call system in GW2 is SERIOUSLY lacking. About 10x worse than GW1, for starters… Armor for second… Not many decent looking armors atm…

“The gameplay might be different, the types of systems and features might be different, but it is guild wars. The characters, the lore, the references to event that have passed. I didnt play guild wars 1, but what I have gathered from lore in game, and NPCs talking, along with personal story, I understand a little bit what it was about.
If you wanted the game to play exactly like Gw1, why even bother buying its sequal? "

Sorry, but go play GW1. This game has done a terrible job at representing its former self. As in, it dug a hole and attempted to bury it. The sequel was HOPED to be an improvement of the previous game. But like every other game out there, games, movies, etc… all tend to get worse on the sequels…

To InfiniteRetro.9865:
Exactly. Mesmer. is… not a mesmer. You are a fancy ritualist thing. The ones I agreed with the most, that I feel best need to be applied to this game now:

- Far superior cut scenes and story telling
- tighter gameplay
- LOADS more pvp options
- Faction grinding
- Dungeons were far superior, and in fact, ALL instances/mobs were far superior
- LOOT. LOOT actually was worth hunting for even if it was skins. the hell happened where they suddenly thought ‘oh they dont need loot, we’ll give them fun instead’

Glory atm is lame…

Guild Wars 2 was definitely not what everyone hyped it up to be. Me buying collectors and logging in was one of the biggest let-downs of my gaming life. Anet tried too hard to be different.

I do like many things about it. Many. But the things that are bad, stand out like a sore thumb. The repetitive event system, the blank skill system, the absolute lack of end-game other than grinding for pointless titles or weapons and armor….

My suggestion to you, is find what you don’t like it. Fix it. If you view my signature link, you can see what I’m doing to make this game more enjoyable for myself and others.

If you would like, you can provide me your dislikes and ideas, and I can use them as fuel for my projects. I am creating new event chains, new skill systems, new pvp formats.

You should all really check it out. Whether you enjoy the game, or are bored of it.

In my opinion, the armor is ugly in GW2

I agree. The game needs way better looking armor. Everything is so bland.

Can we get NPC armors? I’ve seen some awesome armors on NPC/tonics, but all the stuff I find, and 80% of the dungeon armor looks hideous. BLERHG. Puke.

Bring back artwork from Gw1. I loved nearly everything but Obsidian on Warriors. xD Pleaseeee release more/put more work into new armors.

Medium armor seems to be the worst imo. Mixing didn’t work either. Looked even WORSE somehow.

Been cruising with my HoM gear cause everything else was. ^^^ blerhg

Nicholas The Traveler feature.

I happen to have loved the GW1 capes. xD I’d LOVE them to be added. Even if they clipped. xD

Bored beyond measure?!

To all of you fighting the original poster, check out my thread in my signature before you start complaining at him.

Yes, this is not 1. It is supposed to be better. :P It is supposed to make people want to play it, not get bored after storyline. There is an overwhelming number of people who feel the same way as him, and I. (I have created a fix though.)

Traits btw do not define your character. It would be like me giving my ranger a staff in GW1 and saying it makes him better. It doesn’t. :P

I highly suggest you read the original post to my current thread, which goes over every single possible counter argument to anything you could possibly say to me. :P

Bet you 10 bucks though, you won’t even skim it. Because people cannot handle reading more than two lines of a thread before getting lazy. :P

-Original is linked at the very top of the thread. *

My plan to fix it is the thread itsself.

“Tl;DR if you are not having fun quit. Only mmo players seem to have this weird obsession of playing a game they hate. Sane people will quit doing boring things, if their objective was fun.”

And intelligent people find ways to make it better if they hate it. (;
It is players of all types, fyi. People have a desire for positive change. Although often that desire is never fulfilled because the developers lack effort or interest.

if you are not happy with this game, or feel like it is not what you expected

What Petez said. An intelligent person seeks criticism btw. It’s how you can tell how truly well you have done.

My response to you, is if it is so great, you wouldn’t have to waste you time whining about people whining about your fantastic game… if it is, indeed, fantastic.

If you are confident in the games awesomeness, you have no need to care what the whiners think. End of story.

This day in age, people are so ignorant that any criticism, no matter how constructive, is shot-down as being a “troll” or a “hater” rather than sitting down and thinking: Is this a legitimate concern? If not, let it slide over your shoulder. If it is, fix it.

My thread for reworking the game was hatred originally. But guess what? I felt that it was a really important issue and I fought on. Now people like it. :P

You can see it on my thread if you do not believe me. Trace it back to the original thread, as linked. See how people now have differences opinions. Just, take a deep breath, open your eyes, rellaxxxx.

Agreed. At least give us hardmode. This game is a walk in the park.
