Well first, do you have any experience with using PS3 controllers on a PC? If not, you will have to make sure that Windows picks it up as a USB HID device (success can vary based on the USB hardware interface implementation).
If you have verified that the device is accessible, you can try to see if the game recognizes input from it. If not, you will need to use an intermediary keymapping program such as AutoHotkey to map the PS3 inputs to the standard movement keys. There may also be other helper programs out there custom-designed to help with mapping PS3 controllers. (EDIT: be warned that these programs may be flagged as they are sometimes used for botting. Use at your own risk.)
Unfortunately I can’t say much more since I’ve been lucky and have gotten my PS3 peripherals (arcade stick, etc.) to work without a hitch on my PC. I’ve never tried a Move/Nav with it though. Good luck.
Fashion is cyclical. What the ghosts are wearing are in fact 200-year-old designs, which went terribly out of style about 100 years after the foefire and people wouldn’t be caught dead(!) in them. Now, however, it’s considered a hip retro look, and our intrepid heroes of the day are nothing if not hip, so they too sport these threads. This trend has also become quite popular in the youth fashion districts of Cantha where it is known as “fuofaiya.”
You mean the crowd that you fully intended to be a part of?
I think they should make like a easier version of the jumping puzzles for people like me that are bad at them but make the reward less but give the achievement
IMO that is backwards. I’d rather that they be equal to players by being able to complete stuff on an easier difficulty and receive the same material reward, but NOT get the cosmetic achievement unless you are able to complete the prescribed difficulty. The sole point of an achievement is to achieve it, not have it handed down to you for free.
Nope, it’s just the way it’s designed, because your sets are actual equippable slots and not just definitions of what to put in each hand. If you want the same item in two sets, you need a second copy of the item.
This entire post is just trying to make fun of the 1c thread.
The 1c thread makes fun of itself.
When I got the bug, I think it was after my third straight completion (over 3 days) using only 1 attempt. As far as I know, the anti-bot measure may just be flagging people who are doing “too well” at the JP. Hopefully their measures aren’t that crude but I see no other reason why I got no reward that time. Just in case I’ll be deliberately throwing some attempts to break up win streaks.
That’s not at all how it worked in GW1. Do your research.
Did it 5 min ago and got no reward.
this social game
There’s your problem. Invalid premise.
+1
Team was losing, 3 dolyaks down by round 2. Then I just started planting turrets as fast as I could, a couple other team members started doing same, had the whole map under control and won round 10 with the 2 surviving dolyaks healed up to full.
Boo. So basically players are going to be given both achievements for just completing the event? I and some of my guildies put in serious effort to finish that thing with all 5 dolyaks alive. We achieved the achievement.
But you didn’t receive the achievement for playing well. You received the achievement for being put into an instance where the other random players also played well. In short, once you’ve done your part, whether you get the achievement or not is based purely on luck or grinding. And luck/grind achievements are just as meaningless as free achievements. Nobody considers you to be highly skilled for having that achievement right now, they just think you’re very lucky/patient and it can’t be proved either way.
The mouse should have come with some software that allows you to map the mouse buttons to standard keys and allow you to save different profiles. Otherwise that’s pretty horrible software support from Razer.
Listing fee is only for listing. There is a 10% commission taken from the sale. In total, you lose 15% from whatever price you sell at.
So if I’m reading this right, you can open a unique gbank on every server? This has possibilities.
I’m confused as to what happened or if this was intended. Going in today I had 11/12 for the Toymaker title, with the following breakdown:
6 = 5 daily airship + Smashing
1 = JP
1 = Gift Bringer
2 = Choir Bell
1 = Buster
Upon speaking to Tixx, the Toymaker achievement unlocked, and shows 12/12. I can’t find this reflected anywhere else in the achievements, so it’s like a ghost point that came from nowhere.
For me the chest DR seems to reset after about 24 hrs. So yeah, you would be getting DR loot in the morning. But you can always do it again in the evening for the instance reward+reset chest.
Uh oh, mystery rollback?
I’m getting fairly tired of ugly wool socks and sweaters.
That’s the joke!
It’s a fairly easy achi.
I got it first day with a group of friends.
You have to destroy the entire Diorama – Which includes trees as well, not JUST buildings
Just cause it says ‘Smash the town’ doesn’t mean it’s limited to buildings only
Just because you didn’t read the thread doesn’t mean that other people didn’t read the achievement. Thanks.
Well you can’t, so sell it and move on.
Yeah, you have to pick your class after the game actually starts, or it will reset you when you step off.
Lol. Post above I lol’d.
I want those greens wtf!!??
I didn’t even get to look at what they were, just saw two items with green text. They might have been useful for one of my characters, and if not, money is money. Not saying that I lost my retirement plan or anything, but it doesn’t make it any less stupid that you very well could lose something extremely valuable because of this lame mechanic. The chest is dropping exotics.
You didn’t lose those green items because you didn’t open the chest. Next run through the dungeon, you’d get the items you ‘should’ have got on the previous run.
If you lost anything, you actually lost out on the wintersday packages from the 2nd run through chest. Unless of course you were not planning on running through again.
I’m so glad you were there to tell me exactly what happened to me.
I opened the chest, inventory got full, 2 items in the Unclaimed Loot window. Leader left in the next instant, I got kicked out, 2 items lost.
I did run the instance again, and yeah I did get the usual gift loot, but still no items.
People saying they cannot load in before the snowflakes disappear. Does your system meet the requirements? Because that should really not be happening at all.
As others suggested, I tried this in a solo instance and was able to clear it on my first run. I think there’s definitely an issue with attempting this in a group, something just gets out of sync or whatever. So anyone who is still having trouble with it, try it solo.
Yeah this is stupid. I just lost two green items from the chest because leader decided to disband.
Exactly right. If you’re not aware that scripting can be intermittently buggy, you haven’t played enough of GW1!
Probably meant to show this…
Boobs? Well… thank you.
I think you’re misinterpreting the image. I see a Charr leading his pet giant snowball to victory.
Whoever made this achievement must have been madly in love with vanquishing in GW1.
This achievement and its lack of progress tracking reminds me of one of the most aggravating achievements ever put into a game.
This is what I imagine the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood to look like in the grandmother’s clothes, which is to say, ridiculous.
Yeah Anet please be sensible here. Everyone knows that giant talking humanoid cats wear pants. The dress makes it ridiculous.
The lesson to take away from Little Red Riding Hood is that there wouldn’t have been an issue if the talking wolf had simply worn pants while pretending to be a human grandmother.
Other people have reported that, in a single party, some people got the achievement and others didn’t. This makes me wonder if you have to be “in range” of an object when it’s destroyed to get credit for it.
In two different runs now I’ve scoured the area multiple times and still no achievement.
Wow……..does every nice thing have to be attacked?
Look if you don’t want to buy it its not my problem, but don’t attack me for trying to help some people out. -_-
Are you really so short-sighted? By “helping” someone out right now telling them to invest in this item (by selling it for more later), you are necessarily screwing over someone else, i.e. the person who actually needs the item down the line.
So yeah, if you really want to be altruistic here, kindly stop trying to interfere in the market with your speculation. Thanks!
It would be a nice quality of life thing to have mat storage be able to hold 999 of any given thing
This is what happens when you play too many JRPGs.
Here’s what I mean.
Example 1, as it is now: Some undesirable finds out your account information somehow or another, say a keylogger that doesn’t get detected right away. They automatically know what e-mail address it’s registered to so they can attempt (and quite possibly succeed, especially if you don’t use a different password) to log in to your e-mail as well and have free reign with your account.
Example 2, as it would be: Some undesirable finds out your account information somehow or another. However, since they would only know a semi-random user name instead of the e-mail it’s registered to, they would somehow need to find out your e-mail as well to get past authentication or do much of anything, unlike now where finding out the account info automatically means finding out the e-mail address.
Why is there a keylogger in scenario 1 and not in scenario 2? If your system is compromised it does not matter one bit how you login to the game.
That’s what I did, the problem is that the way it is now they automatically know what my e-mail address is if they find out my login information somehow.
And? The whole point of using that single-purpose email is that it doesn’t matter if it gets compromised.
Anet already said that most of their bot detection comes from data mining and algorithmically recognizing patterns of behavior. This would not help botters much at all. Commercial levels of gem gifting would actually help to expose them.
Highly doubt my hard drive would have anything to do with it, it has over 700 gb free space.
Free space has little to do with performance. Here’s possibly your problem:
Hard drive: Western Digital WD Green WD10EADS 1TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Using a 4-year-old, energy-efficient, 5400 RPM model might have an impact on loading performance. Here’s how it compares to modern drives. (It’s at 76.83)
the system, as it is, rewards the second comer simply for coming to the market later by allowing them to list the item at the 1c undercut and get their item sold before the first seller.
And if it was a 1g undercut, is your item any more unsold? You’re having an emotional reaction to something that makes no material difference to you. The actual problem here is that it’s a disadvantage to post first, which is why I’ve said previously that sellers should have an option to lower their price so that they can remain competitive.
The CPU should not be causing the game to take 3 minutes to load. What kind of hard drive? How good is your sense of time?
DR applies to the base karma reward (as it always does), not the booster. Unless you are presenting evidence to the contrary.
EDIT: On a second read, it sounds like you might be suggesting that the booster is not worthwhile because you hit the DR while under its influence. Of course since the DR applies in either case, the booster is still giving you additional points that you would otherwise not receive. So it depends on whether you are grinding for karma because you have the booster or whether you are grinding for karma anyway and want to get more out of it.

The frequency of these reports is making me nervous. I myself have not been very active on the TP last week, just crafting 2 bags at a time (each about 20s) and selling them to help level up my crafting. However, when I’ve visited the TP recently there’s only been 20s to pick up, though both bags were sold. Now I honestly can’t remember if I picked up the other half of the money at some other time or whether I got short-changed. Will have to start paying closer attention.
For this you would need player-based RMT. There’s no way Anet is going to pay people RM for gems.
I just saw this in the northern part of Bloodtide Coast and I thought they were just part of the environment, like the Lionguard put them there to help travelers or something. Every couple dozen feet or so there was another Healing Turret along the road. Funny bug if that’s the case.
I’m not against multiboxing, but any reasonable person would have to admit there are advantages over an average player. For instance, a multiboxed group can more easily focus and coordinate attacks.
A non-botting multibox group is being handled by one person manually. There is no way you are more effective than a group where each character is controlled by a separate person, except where there is a difference of skill, and that is earned.
The multiboxer doesn’t waste time lfg’ing. One player ends up with a pool of resources and gold gathered across several accounts versus smaller amounts of gold spread across the entire group for actual players.
Guild groups, friend groups, and same-household parties don’t waste time lfg’ing either, to name a few common examples. And the flipside to the loot is that one person has to earn all the gold and gear needed to support multiple characters simultaneously. There’s no advantage, just scaling in both directions. Think it’s hard to get a legendary for your main? Try having two, or five mains. Think it sucks to pay repair costs for your character when you die? Try paying the repair costs for your entire party. Etc.
None of which are gamebreaking advantages, but definitely advantages. Why would anybody multibox if it provided no advantage?
Why do people solo in MMOs at all when it is clearly a disadvantage? Google it, there’s a bunch of articles about why people do it, and challenge is often part of the reason. Now take the ideas behind soloing and put it in a context where the game mathematically forbids you from progressing because you are only one character. That’s where multiboxing (for me) comes in. It preserves all the things that soloers like about soloing, and gives me a reasonable chance to play the content that requires more than one character.
Unless you are confusing multi-boxing with botting, which was the whole reason this question needed to be asked, there is no reasonable assumption that multiboxing gives any meaningful advantage over a group of players, and is likely to be the opposite.
For everyone who is still interested, I contacted customer support with this question and received this answer from Gaile Gray. Thanks Gaile!
We cannot condone or support the use of any particular program or sytem for multi-boxing. However, we do not terminate accounts for multi-boxing, as long as — through the process — they do not breach the User Agreement or the Rules of Conduct, both of which you can find linked from this page: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/ If an account is in conformance with the UA and the RoC, we have no objections to dual-boxing or multi-boxing.
If someone develops technical support issues related to the process, we are, naturally, unable to offer technical support in relation to the use of the system or process.
The trade window not coming across is easily understood. With no trade window, there is very little trade spam.
That’s a tautology. In general, the people who want direct trading know there is going to be spam and are willing to tolerate it because the ability to trade outweighs the annoyance caused by spam.
With the GW1 trade window, there was a lot of trade spam and ANET had a lot of trouble keeping it in the trade channel.
Actually, the GW1 chat window automatically directs 99% of trade spam based on the keyphrases “wtb” and “wts” which players actually use. If you turn off the trade channel, you would see virtually no trade spam. You really should try out GW1 sometime.
I don’t farm and in fact hate farming, but I do (try to) craft so I’m all for bots doing the menial work of gathering materials. As I see it, the issue of in-game bots closely mirrors the issue of labor IRL (which, really, the bots are). You’re always going to have people who feel threatened by cheaper competition.
Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxqviXuS1vY&feature=player_embedded#!
and go see the section time marked 1:15:00 Pay attention to the guy trying to explain the process in the excel spread sheet. This clip was made back in August and teaches you how to manipulate the market using “fake orders” – which inflates price, and creates an illusionary market which they will take out when they make the money they want. They are using copper in this example, but can be applied to all kinds of mats. People can buy low and sell high to make money. But by manipulating the market you can buy high and seller higher. When a group of people pool their wealth together, they can magnify the manipulation.
Posting the buy offer has little or no effect over simply relisting at the higher price. You’re making more out of that than it really is. This is just a guy attempting a flip, only doing it in a much riskier way (because of the elevated prices he is working with) that also causes overall prices to rise. He’s outsmarting himself into thinking that this risk is offset by his “manipulation”, but the actual price manipulation here occurs in the way he buys up the item stock, not in how he resells it.
