It depends if you like the Thief play style quite honestly. I would not let the nay sayers who are still kitten over the recent profession changes to tell you other wise. I would watch any post patch Thief WvW roaming videos and builds and then try it yourself.

I would not force yourself to use account bound medium gear on a profession if you don’t like it. You can always roll ranger

That’s why Caithe stole the Dragon Egg. Inside was a nerf for her abilities and she did not want anyone to get a hold of it, not us, not even the devs.

Caithe was made to faceroll on. I wonder how many Non thief players thought it was cool and amazingly OP to play a Thief during that story, only to make a Thief character and face the harsh reality and disappointment.

i really hope the elite spec isn’t rifle, just doesn’t really seem thiefy. If it is though, they’d really need to incorporate thief mechanics to make it interesting and it seems like that’d be easier to do with staff than a rifle.

In all honesty, the entirety of the thief profession doesn’t really feel “thiefy.” The F1 “Steal” mechanic is about the only thing thief has going for it, I think. Otherwise, it feels much more like an assassin than anything else.

I’m not bashing thieves, mind you. My main is a thief. I’m just saying that everything about it seems more assassin than thief.

This is quite true. As a “Thief” we only steal. That’s it. Everything else is Assassin oriented. With that being said I hope they either give us a Rifle and actually make us and call us Assassins, OR try to stick to the original thief concept and give us “Engineer like” F skills like traps, bombs, smoke screens, throwing daggers etc.

I Do not pvp, and in the 2000+ hours of game hours I never received one of these boxes. All I ever received were 2 rings in WvW

Anet’s original plan when it was announced people who already owned the game would get a free character slot was to make it available at or after the release of HOT.

So this announcement is a vast change and welcomed one if you ask me.

People are still unable to detach the current profession skills from the elite ones. I would like to see ricochet come back and be on the rifle. Bullets that make one bleed, poison, torment. A point blank cone damage. Something cool but not a rip of of warrior or engineer rifle, along with the thieves existing pistol.

If you registered your core Guild Wars 2 game before January 23, 2015 and register a pre-purchase serial code for Heart of Thorns any time before the expansion is released, you’ll receive a free character slot! Once you apply a pre-purchase serial code, you’ll be eligible for the slot regardless of where you bought the core game.

If the serial code you used to register the core game came from a retail vendor (rather than buy.guildwars2.com or in-game) and was applied to your account between January 23, 2015 and June 16, 2015, you’ll also be eligible for a free character slot if you apply a Heart of Thorns pre-purchase serial code before the expansion release.

All accounts that become eligible by July 9 will have their free character slot applied by July 10. Eligible accounts that are upgraded with a pre-purchase serial code after July 10 will receive their slots on a weekly basis after that.

So veteran players get their free slot.

Deluxe and Ultimate get another extra slot (which you should already have if you prepurchased)

I have been saving up all the materials for Ascended for months. I play open world PVE about 80% of the time with the remaining % a mix of dungeons and wvw which I usually play my Guardian depending on my mood.

I am tired of waiting for our Elite Spec to be announced, if that would make any game changing decisions of gearing (if any)

I waited for the most recent update to settle in to make any decisions.

I been rolling in valkyrie exotic armor with strength runes from a year ago, playing with might stacking . It feels outdated but I want to move to ascended.

I use S/P, D/D, SB and starting P/D shortly

Have a ton of laurels/karma/guild crests to buy jewelry from playing since headstart.

I am looking for high direct damage, and being a veteran player I like having the higher risk in PVE

TLDR: Is Berserker still the go to gear for PVE DPS or is there any reason I should wait?

Being a Gascioch member also I would like to see some kind neat floating tome in a pillar of brilliant light listing our fallen members. Or a statute with candles and the Guild leader can edit the inscription when people click on it. Very easy coding that already exists in the game.

In the end, after all the loot, levels and monsters killed. Long after you logged off , and even uninstalled the game, the thing you carry with you is the community, and the people you connected with on your journey.

Looks like a Maleficent Halloween costume found in a bargain bin. You couldn’t pay me to wear it, yet alone charge me gems for one. I have 4 costumes I use that they did a great job on. But pass on this one.

but the same could be said for rifle (used by 2 classes, and not particularly effective on either. Engi has all its kits, and warrior’s rifle hasn’t been that popular or effective since bleed was removed from its 1 skill)

Thief is the only profession in game that does not have a 1200 range weapon. With that being said since the rifle is only used by two professions having a third would only make sense, especially the already existing lack of range. and no steal does not count.

I think A net wants to use weapons that are least used by certain classes like torch, focus and warhorn. Warhammer on a Engineer is one example. A cloth profession getting a shield. A leather profession (Ranger) getting a staff. Shortbow is only used by two professions. So if you think about it they could really expand certain weapons to the spotlight,

My Guardian will love his bow so I’m all for it. However my roleplay thief. She would use a rifle or anything for assassinating. She would not touch a staff. Also she would use kits, like throwing knives etc.

I noticed the issue with the hit box when I completed it yesterday. Being a Thief, I used my Thieves Guild Elite on the boss, and AOE shortbow. The Thieves did a lot of damage. Seems like when you send in AI to kill other AI they know exactly where to hit and connect with the target.

We already know ranger get’s staff and are medium armor like the thief. Anet is not going to give a staff to two elite professions

Why not just mix half Assassin/Beserker? Or would they negate each other and water down your total stats? also when you mention gear, are we talking only armor but also jewelry and weapons?

Does this build convert well over to PVE like world and dungeons bosses? Also I know people vary a bit on armor, from Carrion to Sinister, to just keeping their original berserkers.

I am itching to find out the details of our elite specialization, what weapon we get and what kind of skills it comes with, especially with the condition changes taken into consideration. I been sitting idle on making my ascended gear until then, and after this patch settles including post nerfs if they decide to slip in any.

In the mean time im making a set of sinister for my guardian so I can just melt people.

Sounds like the NCsoft execs in their Monkey suits are calling the shots. I -know- Anet has no control over the price since they only develop the game.

Like I said before NCsoft is the puppeteer and Anet is always under their control. Do not blame ArenaNet and it’s developers for this pricing abomination.

If they do not change the pricing structure I will be content not playing the expansion.

I was fortunate to get my meta and currently banking all my tokens for the end where I plan to purchase rewards.

I been trying to find previews of all the rewards either videos or screen shots to determine the biggest bang for tokens. I know it is personal choice, but I wanted to see what would be the top 3 things you would get a why?

In terms of armor type in WvW I went Power-toughness-Vitality. Coupled with all the boons we get you can hit hard and take a beating, plus brush off conditions. I use rune of the soldier. with GS/Staff

PVE I love full berserker. With all the boons and healing we do, once again you won’t be a squishy as other professions that go full berserker.

Make Spirit Weapons better, either rehash them completely or trash them and give us something better.

The fact still remains we are the only profession that has no 1200 range attack. I actually see a thief with a longbow over a rifle.

I have scanned for viruses, malware, adware, all the above and nothing. My pc is up to date and clean. I changed my email and Gw2 account passwords, each unique. My account has not been hacked (yet) I use my email for youtube, and on GW2 Guru forums. I am wondering it people are skimming adresses.

Also during beta, I used my hotmail account to get a second account for my laptop. I never did anything with it after beta, and noticed password reset requests in my junk mail.
My password is autosaved on my PC. I never type it in, so a keylogger would not work against that.

I would pick staff. Great for healing, especially empower. Keep your hammer and great sword berserker. Fall back on a cleric staff for more groups or defence/healing ranged encounters where mobs or even players might melt you at melee range.

I go with strength runes in WvW with valk set and berzerker weapons and trinkets. I also use it in PvE wince I am short on money and space to store extra armor sets and works fine. Problem is with scholar runes is staying above 90% is difficult when you are getting hit by conditions or ranged/direct damage. It does not take much to get you under 90%. With Strength Rune you can be more proactive, with traits that give you might on dodge(you have to dodge anyways, might as well get might) and other traits, including might from other players. I maintain 15+ stacks with little effort, usually around 20-25 in a group.

I use P/P for world bosses and Karka Farming, running a strength rune berzerker/valk set with focus on might. Does crazy damage. Also easy to tag and bag single target mobs in a fast moving group to compete against the 1200 ranges who spam burst damage. People might hate on pistols but I have bags of loot that prove otherwise.

Hello, since the patch, I been getting emails saying that I requested a change in my password, which I have not done so. I feel as if someone is trying to hack my GW2 account through hacking my email. Is that possible? As a precaution I changed my GW2 to a strong password, and soon will change my email password also. Any way to prevent people from finding out my email?

I put bloodlust and the sigil that stacks precision on my harpoon gun and go kill some mobs, giving my full stacks, that way I can re eqip my weapons and not lose the stacks. I also have bloodlust on my shortbow, which adds up quick.

I have a piece of armor I transmuted and I would like to buy a guild chest piece that displays my guild crest on the chest and back. My question is, is there a way to remove it and get the old look of the armor back? Also since it says one time use, if I transmute the item again, im assuming the crest will dissapear and I need to buy a new one

There should be unique weapon skins for your end personal story rewards. Something to show hey I did all my personal story. This unique skin could be transmuted to peoples perfered weapon stats, not taking away from the enonomy or personal stat preference.

Also I finished Arah, and I am on the mission Victory or death and I have not been back to FT yet. Is this now fixed? I been waiting a month.

Therefore you will need the Magumma, Orr, Krtya, Shiverpeaks and Ascalon explorer achievements, under the explorer tab. (Note however, you can accumulate these on all your characters combined, so you may need to try a walkabout – so to speak…

I just got my 100% World Completion (along with the gifts) by going into the Chantry of Secrets again and I have NOT maxed all the Explorer Achievements.

masks would be cool, like what they did for the mesmer/necro . Since every race can wear a mask all they have to do is reskin one.

There are discoverable mystic forge weapons that are sometimes even better looking then their legendary counterpart, and much more realistic to obtain.

once I get 100% map completion and finish my personal story (once tolkens are introduced late this month) I wont be returning to this map. I like the eastern part, especially the santuary with all the tamable ranger pets

So for your personal storyline, you have to group up and do a 5-man dungeon? Why is this not stated anywhere? All I can see in my log is ‘Kill Zhaitan’ with no references at all of it requiring 4 other people.

I know the personal story is more single player. But in the end, you have to face the inevitable fact you are playing a MMO, and in conclusion , you will need to connect your end story with others.

make sure you are not purchasing gems for the same amount the card is for. There is usualy a transaction or holding fee with these cards. So A $50 card might actually be like $48.70 , so if you tried to buy $50 for something for example it would decline. Also if its a new card wait a few hours before using it.

They need to make unique weapon skins just for the personal story ending. The vendor should have all weapon skins availible to purchase but you only can chose one.

Only having one weapon skin make them unique and not over saturating. It would be a skin you can transmute once for free like the armor skins in the gem store. This way it wont hurt the crafting market by people not needing to buy or make exotics because your personal story simply hands you on on a platter.
