And people are taking it too literally. I understand what Crystal is saying. Ascended gear and it’s stats work in having the maximum stats for end game content, however remember -actual- player skill and team cooperation will trump any gear regardless.

Having Legendary/Ascended gear and you mess up and die means you lived 1.2 seconds longer in someone in exotic gear.

Instead of changing the code that effects all Legendaries they need to not change the current ones already existing in the database. Otherwise, transmutation is your friend.

I save them all. I have 4 bank tabs full of runes and sigils. Once they hit 250 I plan on just vendoring them. I feel it’s faster this way. And I’m a hoarder.

I get a ton of green runes using basic salvage kits. I am too lazy to buy a copper fed salvagematic so I always buy these stupid kits. They are easy to sell at a vendor though you can knock them all out really quick.

It would be cool if you could salvage the rune and get a base raw material back.

Weapons skins are quite limited and for Halloween they focus on outfits, minis etc. You can craft some of the Haloween skins, they are not too difficult.

On top of the issues you already addressed, Hammer ironically is our only ranged weapon. I know you could get the traits that add stats for damage and go the dps route for the hammer. Other than that I did also notice many traits are very duel wielding centric.

This weekend is a Beta weekend. You can make a Revenant and you will be instant 80 with boxes full of level 80 exotic gear to equip with selectable stats.

I would suggest trying it out that way if you like it, you will get some drive and motivation to level to 80 after release. also if you have experience tomes, use them.

At Twitchcon they only went over the major bullet points in changes. They did not go over every single change. We won’t know them all till today. They are did state that the balance patch is not huge but important none the less.

Elementalist for a new player can be very overwhelming, especially if you are trying to pvp. You have 4 attunements with one weapon with 5 skills. That alone is 20 skills you have to memorize and what attunement does what. Then add combo fields, blast finishers, utility skills, traits, gear, oh my!

Personally I would go into PvE in the open world and get a good feeling for your Ele. Npc’s are fairly dumb and you can focus on what you are actually doing verse trying to juggle your own abilities while fighting another player.

I think once you memorize and are confident with one weapon and a particular set of skills and utilities, take another shot in PvP. Burn and learn, and eventually you will know your profession inside and out so well you can do it in your sleep.

WAIT. So if they actually saved templates (and you could name them) I would not need sticky notes attached to the side of my monitor with 3-1-2 etc written all over them? Neat!

I like the hybrid mix of the Painterly look, with CGI used to enhance certain shots, but not George Lucas it. Also the characters looked very real to the in game characters. I actually question in some shots if they were not actually the in game characters themselves. It’s like the George Miller of Guild Wars 2 trailers, except that Michael Bay shot where the Wyverm barrels slow motion barely over Rytlock’s head. All I could think of was Transformer, ugh.

I would even be happy if they did a head start on Character creation only. That way me and my OCD can spend a hour tweaking my looks, even though I could not enter the game and play.

The sound literally gives me a headache. Some idiot thought it would be fun to sit at the crafting station for a hour with this thing. Either add it to to the music slider as suggested or have only the player hear the sound.

I think it’s awesome. you can tell the Devs had a lot of fun coming up with ways to make the collections fun and a journey. jumping into a volcano? Sure! Free falling for 10 secs? Yep! Throwing yourself into a laser beam? Sign me up! I like how I can now actively work towards it everyday and it has a purpose.

I just turned 40 and my daughter is a gamer like her dad. She played Guild wars 2 since launch. Her Ranger just got her 3 year anniversary 2 weeks ago. She was 8 when Gw2 came out and she started playing. Funny thing is she is better at the game than some of you guys out there. I know because I watched!

You can gain some levels from crafting, and you can prep by getting the materials ready for your reverent to Craft come release.

Cooking is the cheapest, and even cheaper if you buy some ingredients from heart vendors throughout the world using a little karma.

Pop a crafting booster and you are all set, plus you can use some of the items you created for yourself or sell them.

From cheapest to most expensive in this order: Cooking, Artificing, and Jewelcrafting

The crafting professions that have materials used in Ascended crafting are expensive, like Iron, silk, linen, wool, soft wood etc.

This will help fill the gap where you lack some tomes

What drives me crazy is Druid’s Celestial form.

That literally could of been a rework of the Guardian’s support tombs. I would of loved if Dragon Hunter offered that in addition with our virtues but sadly that is not the case.

This. I can not agree more. When I seen the druid go into that Celestial form all I could think of is wtf.. that is what my Guardian was suppose to do.

I liked summoning the tome and spamming “Feel my Wrath!” as you send out pretty ribbons and swirling healing thingy effects. Sure it was a bit niche and gimmicky, but a rework of it being mobile and doing big heals was the solution. Especially in high level content.

Elite specs are suppose to compliment the current specs of the profession, and offer a addition play style. Dragon Hunter and Druid do this, However, they are in stark contrast from their base professions.

A Ranger who had a bow now gets s staff, doing damage, conditions, pet themed skills now totally flips a coin and goes straight heal heal heal heal! Oh here, have a new pet! Now go back and heal heal heal! All without doing major reworks to the core profession and all the issues rangers currently have (including pet AI)

Guardian has great damage, support, conditions, Crowd control. The elite goes stark contrast! Now get to the back of the line and pew pew. Here, have a trap! Lay it at your feet! Now pew pew from 1200 range. Ok??

Also Keep in mind: What does the druid do it everyone is 100% health and is able to manage themselves for a majority of the encounter? What if someone gets cleaved and insta killed? Sure they have a few condis and stuff, but the elite is nearly 90% healing.

I would hold off on buying HoT right away . I would want to make sure I am committed to to being a returning player and reacquaint yourself with your character you chose and the game itself , including all the changes made as of today, no Heart of thorns needed, tons of changes!

Unless you choose to play a Revenant and level, then yes you need HoT, otherwise I would take my time and really get to immerse myself. You are going to run across people using the elite specs, maybe that will further your interest in buying HoT sooner than later if you see something you really want and you are already level 80.

I would hold off till HoT to see what the legendary crafting track has to offer along with obtaining the items including the precursor. The expansion is not necessarily going to make Legendary weapons easier to craft but more accessible to players who commit to doing it and not having to bow down to RNG or the trading post

I been farming rich Iron and Platinum ore nodes for my Ascended gear and noticed how inconsistent some of the re spawn times are.

Some seem to respawn after server reset. Others I will mine before work, come home 9 hours later and will not respawn, where others have.

Also I parked a few toons next nodes. When I log them on the node is gone, but if I zone into that map with another character it is there!

What gives?!

That would be cool but I am not holding my breath for it. For now I am planning for Oct 23rd. Anything we can do before that would just be a bonus. Otherwise I am prepping in the days to come.

I’am crafting ascended gear now , but leaving out the insignia because honestly I dont know what will work best yet. Is it valk? Zerker? Iam gonna solo and do small scale wvw I think! Any ideas ppl?

I ran a build with Zerker weapons and accessories, and valk armor. Depending on what runes you put in them along with consumables I was sitting around 19k ish health. I think with all zerk i was around 16-17k health. If that helps you any.

Making a guide during beta would be a waste of time considering that many things have changed such has Mallyx for example. Plus we have another beta, another round of changes after that. A real guide would not be presentable untill after HoT goes live and things are more concrete, and then they can do the real number crunching.

For now the DNT guys have been giving their overall impressions from the beta weekend and give opinions on the direction the profession can or possibly go in old and new content. I know Nike did a video on his impressions for revenant and bezerker. I am at all not worried that they will have a guide out “when it’s ready”

It would be nice once HoT releases they reset all of our characters points. that would help me greatly.

Mainly Open world content and HoT maps. Mix of good damage and survival. I like the sword and board concept.

I can see them putting all those finishers into RNG loot tables inside Black Lions chests. That’s why they supposedly upped the key drop rate.

I have two role play characters, which sadly do not get to role play. I am often sucked into actually playing the game. I run across small groups of role players I like to observe and enjoy.

Are you in TCRP? I am but I don’t run across many of the guild mates when I am online. It might help to join a RP guild and play with them rather then random strangers.

If you played Living Story Season 2 there is an interesting debate/argument at the Priory between two cooks about using blood stone dust as a cooking ingredient. I think it was a neat Easter egg to poke fun at us chefs who want 500 cooking!

Remember cooking does not always equal food. Take dyes for example. I could see components for high end items requiring a component made from a chef.

Ascended works great if you are a Alt-aholic. Now that Revenant will make the 3rd profession to wear heavy. Ascended heavy armor is the way to go for me. Same for weapons. All three heavies use a shield, mace, sword and hammer. So I make those ascended also.

Human Reaper Of Grenth is awesome. Especially if you are not a Necro it is a ghetto version that gives foes chill.

I am going straight Asura tier 3 cultural armor. It’s my favorite in game. I was one of the first few on my server to have it. I even did a optimus prime color scheme just for lulz. For color the tones seems to be dark reds and greens and blue/purple. Since our forearms get a aura color based on which Legend we represent I think it’s going to give this fashionista a headache.
