Agree that it does not make sense.
GoM for the current season is:
Green: 0 times
Blue: 4 times
Red: 3 timesGod forbid someone on our server was working on map completion.
Actually, how the colors are determined does make sense. They’re based on final server ranking before the Season started. So using gold league for example, in a match between server ranks 2, 4 and 6, 2 is green, 4 is blue and 6 is red.
They should not have chosen to do it this way however. It would have been better if there was some kind if rotation, or maybe even a random draw.
[KnT] – Blackgate
I dont get why this isnt already coded into the game. Why would anyone bypass their loot on purpose?
My guess it’s a coding time resources issue, and possibly a server resources issue. I’m no programmer, but I would imagine that something that is automated requires more hardware resources than something that requires a client trigger. However, assuming hardware resources are not an issue, it’s probably something that would not be overly easy to change in the game engine, thus the “middle ground” they implemented with AoE looting. If it were possible to code, then it would be a matter of being able to allocate the programmer resources to such a project, and there are very likely more important projects (to Anet) that those resources are working on.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Shrug…15K isn’t that much. That is only about 400 dollars. Some people spend more on graphics cards.
Keep it up, 18 more pages to go.
Heh. 15k gold is a ton. Right now 1g gold costs about 25 cents when buying it legitimately through gems. So 15k gold would be $3,750 USD. I only wanted to add this to illustrate how ridiculous 15k gold is.

1000th post, and nothing important said, let’s set a record!
You cut me deep Chris.
[KnT] – Blackgate
At the time they were approached, and I would argue even leading into Season 1, BG had a coverage hole it felt it needed to fill, which was SEA to EU.
To be fair, no one had coverage in this time slot, until now. There aren’t any hidden guilds from Nepal, Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia on any of our servers filling this time slot. The only people to play in this slot are the SEA playing late or the EU playing early. Well…until now.
Just for clarification, I wasn’t specifically talking about the actual time period between SEA and EU, but the entire period from the start of SEA to the end of EU.
Why did BG feel they wouldn’t win?
I know you’re going to twist any rational comments into something that suits your views, so I’ll limit my response to; losing two hardcore commanders and a number of very active players, in a time slot that had historically offered us an advantage that helped offset periods where our coverage is weaker than SoR (EU to early NA particularly), who also often played beyond their primetime to help the server succeed, MIGHT have had something to do with it.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Keep in mind a couple of things. ZDs was approached a good while ago from what I understand (I wasn’t involved). It was Season 1 and heavy EU queues that got them considering alternatives. They took a look, remembered their dialog with BG, saw that they would likely get to face off against IRON for 3 weeks, and decided playing (short or no queues) is better than not playing (long queues).
At the time they were approached, and I would argue even leading into Season 1, BG had a coverage hole it felt it needed to fill, which was SEA to EU. MERC had been covering the hole admirably for months, but overextending will wear on anyone, and ultimately it led to their decision to transfer to JQ where they could get the SEA support going into Season 1.
Also about morale. While BG had a bit of a morale boost after the first week win, many of us were very aware that Season 1 politics played a good sized part in that win. To be frank, while we maintained a very positive outlook on our chances, I think deep down there was a good chunk of us that really questioned whether we could beat SoR 1v1 or not. However, as of about midnight server time on Sunday night (turning into Monday) we started to surge and hit 400 PPT at 1am. Then the next morning the news broke that ZDs was going to begin transferring. Even though ZDs hadn’t even moved over yet, our surge plus that news lit a morale fire, and by midnight on Monday we had closed SoR’s lead to 2k. The mentality changed from “hmm I’m not sure” to “hell yeah we got this”. The next morning ZDs transferred and the rest is history. SoR’s morale fell while BG’s surged, and participation and effort moved in opposite directions for each server. BG played more and longer, while SoR played less and shorter (generalizing here).
My point is, all of us in T1 are “stacked”. Particularly when compared to other servers. People that play on those servers must look at our use of the word and think we’re all on crack. Winning at this point is determined who cares about it the most for the longest stretch of time.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Feel stupid for asking this but what is “jist” lol?
It’s a typo. It should have been “gist”.
Basically it means “the point or substance of an argument or situation”.
[KnT] – Blackgate
ZDs has a big impact on BG as much as IRON on SoR. It is not that ZD alone make BG stronger, it is the fact that it makes BG morale goes up so much when they logged in and have up to 400 PPT and also crush SoR morale. SoR is a good server despite losing T3 everyday we still fight hard, but we do admit that is is pretty demoralizing logging in and seeing we have 100 PPT and BG widens the lead by 10k.
I think you’ve got the jist of it. Here is a link to something I posted about IRON back in May. It was easy to find because it’s on page 1 of my “highly rated” posts (whatever that means).
Discounting the power of player morale in this game format is a recipe for frustration.
Snippet from my post linked below: “A 9.0 earthquake hit in the middle of the ocean and SoR is riding the player tsumani.”

had a great few hours out on SoS BL this afternoon ended up tagging for the first time since aftl moved t sor. thanks to peeps for following was a good run lots of bags xD
I saw a few of your tags out there today. That must have been you pushing our spawn tower. Good stuff, and we had some decent fights for the couple of hours I was able to play.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Come on guys. It’s nothing like BG is getting more stack or something. We’re basicly the same. It’s just some in SoR decided to slack or basicly play BF4 too much while BG is just the same o’BG who fight nonstop?
To those who try to claimed BG overstack, let me summarize what we get/lose recently:
BG gained EU-[COIN] wvw average25, Early EU-[ZDs] wvw average35
BG lost Oceanic/SEA-[MERC] wvw average30, Oceanic/SEA-all I know is that the numbers of BG I face have hugely increased. They are not the same numbers from 3weeks ago.
Many guilds and players were chilling out before Season 1 started, myself included. Since then it’s been game on.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Buygate completely stacked to the brim and still recruiting and buying more guilds, wow!
This is like the 4th time you’ve posted that screenshot, not even taken by you, two weeks ago, and BG hasn’t been listed as full since. I know you keep trying to troll with this but you keep getting ignored for a reason. The same reason your 7 or 8 “just wait until week 7 when we play kingmaker muhahahaha” posts have been ignored.
[KnT] – Blackgate
I’m happy BULL chose SoR, This should make things fun. Now if SoR and BG could politely point the next EU guild interested in moving to NA, to JQ before week 5 that would be greatly appreciated.
IF and I said IF, BG wins season one, I don’t want to hear Stackgate excuses.
There are four EU guilds that I know of being offered “incentives” to go to SoR currently. Aside from BuLL, I wouldn’t worry too much
Will miss fighting you guys in BuLL. Come back soon!
What are they using for currency? Bottled tears? Oh and if/when BuLL comes to SoR it will be for life. SoR has already made it clear that they don’t want anything less than devoted people to their utopia of servers where the grass is greenest and the air is cleansed of any fart-lighting heathens. All those who fail this request are to be terminated via liquidation and forged into iron. On second thought, fart-lighters don’t seem so bad.
What server was GD on before they bolted back to EU after two weeks? Was it JQ?
Yeah it was JQ.
[KnT] – Blackgate
I like how BG has gone from “no chance of beating us 1v1” to “omg you overstacked you should be ashamed of yourselves” in just over 1 week’s time, and after one single guild transferred to BG mid-season. Seriously guys.
…So your argument is that BGna, after a year of getting it’s kitten handed to it got good last Monday?
Please Leto. You know me better than that. It has nothing to do with “getting good”. It rarely does with WvW in this game. BG is putting more numbers on the field for longer periods than SoR right now, plain and simple. BG is on a morale surge. The same exact thing happened to SoR when IRON joined way back when. I can dig up my old post on the subject if you’d like.

I dont know if its just this new match, and lower numbers overall possibly, but I didn’t experience a single instance of skill lag tonight after reset, which inluded a massive 3 server zerg fight at Hills. Anyone else?
[KnT] – Blackgate
Anet guaranteed that the max for each side is the same in past replies. However, how the queue works is still a complete friggin mystery.
If you are queued, is it not random? That is the impression I get from most people. I thought I remember reading a dev post stating this.
It very well may be, but Anet has never stated as such.

Tons of action at Hills on SoSBL tonight. I love it.
[KnT] – Blackgate
I was so sad to hear KH left TC till I found out they went to Mag and stayed in Gold league! I honestly can’t wait to see you guys on the battle field again! IMO KH is one of the most impressive guilds NA right now, every fight with them is a nail biter and is a blast to be a part of, even when they stomp you into the ground! Good luck recruiting and I hope Mag treats you well! Keep being awesome and see you in week 4!
Ditto this sentiment. These guys will straight up prey on your group if you’re not on your game. Great guild. If any of you on Mag are looking to do some zerg stomping look no further.
[KnT] – Blackgate
So JQ is out of the picture hu? You speak some heavy words there, I can not wait till we fight BG or SoR again.
I’m not sure who this post was directed towards, but I know myself and the majority of BG certainly doesn’t. We’ve resigned ourselves to the fact that 6 of 7 weeks of Season 1 will be a major battle for us and nothing is certain.
[KnT] – Blackgate
I was being serious about that comment but you seem a bit up tight with ZDs now.
Back on EU we had great fights with them, but their primetime seemed to have shifted forward for whatever reason
Well, part of it could be attributed to daylight savings time, which Russia doesn’t participate in. The time difference between London and Moscow widened by an hour last Sunday when normal time kicked back in and they rolled their clocks back. I’m not sure when the rest of Europe shifts if they haven’t already. I know us yanks move our clocks this Sunday.
[KnT] – Blackgate
This is very shameful behavior, SoR. The minute we get a guild, you guys tank the score to attract guilds. It is just not possible otherwise to hit 20 PPT.
Enough with this kind of stuff please guys. Clearly this is not what’s happening this week. It’s a morale/desire issue, plain and simple. We’ve all experienced it.
No, he’s right. I’m ashamed. This is a game after all.
I can kind of see where Seigfriend is coming from. I’ve never seen SoR at such a low PPT before and I think the main reason is because they’re demoralized. Losing Garrison, their EB keep and a 20k lead is unfamiliar for SoR.
Being demoralized is one thing. Giving up intentionally to attain some goal is another thing entirely. That’s all I’m saying.

Just to clarify, most people that whines about ZD are the few special IRON members, most of SoR was just like “oh we lost big deal”, we still fight and have fun. If you on SoR and goes on TS you would know that this is true
Glad to hear it. As I said earlier, I have absolutely no doubt that SoR will regroup and come back swinging hard again come Friday night.

on another note Arenanet is hosting a Ranger PvE stream Lololololololol
I have to admit I laughed at this too when I refreshed the forums. Sorry Rangers but I couldn’t help it.

After watching your post history…
Calm down and show me where starscream touched you.
Starscream touches everyone, everywhere. He has a gift.
[KnT] – Blackgate
So…. i came home to start reading the last 10 pages on this thread…
Guess what? It’s all the same kitten xD
Stop crying and do something about it. Bad coverage? Have a server meeting.
Guilds getting demoralized? Amp up and kittening fight.BG was doing good and kicking kitten before ZD joined, so, come up w/ another excuse.
How about BG buying plenty of guilds to fill their gaps to stack theirs server and say its nothing.
But now you dont realise how much you have ruined WvW.
JQ dont want to fight you either and the other T2 servers wont offer much of a battle so we all hope your PvD is going well and we hope you dont get splinters..Seriously though week one of the seasons was the best matchup in a long time but then BG obviously got kitten scared and had to buy guilds so they wouldnt get steam rolled. Gz on achieving it but in the process youve now ruined wvw for all other servers in the gold league as well for people on your own servers. I hope you enjoy your cold and pointless win in what was to be a great season..
It was one guild shifty. ONE. And on the day this guild started transferring to BG 99+% of us said, “what?”. Seriously. It was a total surprise to all of us, but certainly a welcome surprise. Before that, the only other guild that moved to BG pre-season was Zero Negative. I believe SoR actually saw more incoming guild transfers than BG did. I’m sorry man but your posts are just coming off as angry and overly defeatist.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Why should SoR bother competing, before it was fun to but now even JQ dont want to compete with BG, pathetic that Anet didnt lock the servers
Last week several forum frequenters from SoR stated that BG had little or no chance to beat them 1v1. In fact, I’d go so far as to say the politics of the week 1 match basically assumed as much. I understand the advantage a guild like ZDs offers a server, but you are basically saying this one single guild turned things from almost guaranteed to totally hopeless? I don’t mean this as a jab but with all due respect, that seems like an overly defeatist attitude to me. I mean, you guys didn’t seem to have any problem with numbers when you were triple way pointing BGBL a couple weeks ago in the very same matchup as this.
Still, I fully expect SoR to rally up hard next week. It’s what you guys do and I wouldn’t expect any less from you. See you on Friday night.
[KnT] – Blackgate
ive been told that BG have gained (bought) 1 new OCE guild and 2 new NA?
is this true?
Nope.
[KnT] – Blackgate
I also thought I’d add …
The focus here has been on the impact ZDs has had during their prime time, but we’ve been hitting 400 PPT at midnight server time since Monday, BEFORE ZDs moved over. Yes BG has historically had an advantage during this time, but not THAT big of an advantage in my view. More is going on here than a single EU guild transfer.
[KnT] – Blackgate
but ZDs did make the wrong move to come to NA
They got sick of sitting in 4+ hour queues. What’s so hard to understand about this? Would you have made this exact statement had they moved to SoR instead? Gee, I wonder.
[KnT] – Blackgate
To be honest BG and SoR, you both have great organiced guilds, but both of you tuck tail and run, seriously, time and time again i see militia from TC run in bad odds, getting slougthered, they reform and try again, the moment we get numbers, both of you run, so yea, shut up and start dying !… This said your both better then us, so thanks for the great fights !
Everyone runs at times dude, TC included.
[KnT] – Blackgate
no need for iron to qq over zd as they are not in our timezone .
Its 9pm in Moscow, 5pm in GB. Surely theres a couple hours of crossover isnt there?
[KnT] – Blackgate
BG switched the goal posts stacking EU above and beyond if they had not have done that i would have agreed JQ would have been an ideal destination but SOR is in a better position of countering them at this stage than JQ.
Wait what? No disrespect, but it was SoR receiving even more EU players and in advance of and during league. It has been clear for quite awhile that SoR had the solid EU numbers advantage. Did ZDs change that all by themselves?
[KnT] – Blackgate
That forum is like a burning anuss
1. ZDs came to NA to avoid queue in EU
2. We were 15 at best 20 on EU during our prime with 30-40 in queue including 1-2 RL
3. Core WvW players went to slack due to unreal timers on queues
4. No server but BG approached us prior League and invited us in a respectful manner to join their ranks
5. We did not plan to move before the league starts but the Arena’s Net reality adjusted our plans
6. Core ZDs guild which consists of 300 players is on SFR, only WvW department transferred to BG
7. We came to NA BG for a minmum of 8 weeks
8. We play for fun & for server win
9. We never dodge fights
10. Dear IRON, we don’t have to whisper you for fights nor we will since you are the one map jumping from us whole evening, if you want to fight come and fight in game not on the forums.
11. We are thrilled and looking forward to have fun with BULL which is one of greatest enemies we had before
12. IF you have any bloody questions feel free to ask ingame since we are bit busy fighting rather then pouring gasoline on others kitten s at forums
So there you have it, stated with 100% awesome. Let’s do this.
[KnT] – Blackgate
so IRON moves to a server where RK and HB are there to fight and then they go inactive and you think you would have the same numbers to fight?
And ZDs goes to Blackgate to fight IRON. I really don’t see what the issue is here. I personally did not complain when IRON came to NA shores, but didn’t agree with the KISS + other EU transfers that took place soon afterwards. So I am really baffled why there are so many EU SoR players that are against ZDs coming over, which by any account would keep EU numbers relatively even.
I thought we were all playing for fights?
where do you see in any of my posts me suggesting i have a problem with ZD xfering to BG. i mentioned i am happy to fight them as long as they want to fight. But if they are here for a week and leaving unlike IRON i dont see an issue with calling them hired guns.
Who knows. If the fights are good and plentiful enough, and the queues are low or non-existent, maybe they stay. It’s up to the competition honestly. Anyways, enough of this I say. Who cares. Let’s kill each other over, and over, and over and have a few laughs.
[KnT] – Blackgate
I know this is selfish and impossible to accomplish, but for me its way more important fighting for than ppt.
You’ve always had your own interests in mind Smokee, and as a result, it’s always had at least a little positive influence in balancing your time zone, as well as benefit Blackgate because it kept you playing. Dem was some dark days when you retired. Regarding ZDs, you’re right I think. Where else could they have gone? You’d think JQ at first, but the back-to-back-to-back of MERC —> ATM --> ZDs (not discounting other guilds/players in those time zones by the way .. just trying to keep it simple) would have probably been a bit ridiculous. SoR? ZDs —> IRON --> EST NA. Similar effect I’d would think I don’t know. I’m not saying ZDs will not have a similar effect on BG, only that the overall influence on the outcome might be less impactful than the alternatives.
In the end, perfect balance is a pipe dream. If it ever exists, it would only last a short while I think. Too much can change too quickly and off-prime time coverage balance is too delicate.
My 2 cents anyways. As always, I disclaim my posts with the chance that I’m a total idiot regarding this stuff.
[KnT] – Blackgate
It’s appalling how some people think you need to do overtime for a freaking video game.
A video game is made for fun. It’s not a job. Seems like people have forgotten that.
Maybe some people actually find doing so fun and rewarding? I don’t, mainly because if I don’t get enough sleep I turn into a grumpy old troll. Yet, I don’t judge those that do. Those of us who have the privilege of freedom have the right to put in as little, or as much effort into something as we choose. Whether it be tying our shoes, writing a novel, or playing a game.
[KnT] – Blackgate
SOR will be getting the last laugh in week 7
You know, oddly enough I was thinking about this last week when I was honestly questioning our ability to beat SoR 1v1. I was thinking something along these lines …
“What would we do if were put in a position to play kingmaker in week 7? Should we clearly focus one server over another out of spite or some past grievance, or would it be more respectable to just play the game, and play to win? If we did focus one server, who would it be and why? Which would be more rewarding in the end?”
During the brief time I thought about it I was definitely leaning towards the second option. Who knows though. There’s still a lot of matches left and many things can and likely will change as the season progresses. I’m sure your just poking fun on the forums in the quote above but nothing is certain, and it could very well still be BG with the option to play kingmaker in the end. It’s also mathematically possible that nobody will.

(edited by Liquid.9672)
This is most likely what’s happening between BG and SoR
Undisputable facts:
1. BG has a greater total population than SoR
2. SoR has a higher percentage of players who focus on WvW
3. WvW Season has attracted a lot of PvEers looking for achievement pointsOn weekends, I’m sure both servers queued all 4 maps almost 24/7. This means both servers were fielding equal numbers at all times. BG most likely had a lot more percentage of PvE players running around in WvW than SoR did, simply due to facts #1 and 2. And because dedicated WvW players are generally better at WvW than PvE players, SoR won more fights because they had more WvW players on the map than BG did. The PPT over the weekend (and steamrolling of BG BL) confirm this.
Now on weekdays, where queues start to drop especially during off-times, the outcome of the battle shifts from quality over quantity to quantity over quality. The server with superior numbers will outshine the other. When the other server is simply outmanned, it really doesn’t matter if you’re fielding PvE players or WvW players, because any player (PvE or WvW) will always beat doors. So, since BG has a much greater PvE population that is all over WvW hungry for some achievement points, there is no way SoR can match BG’s numbers. The pattern has been like this between BG and SoR for a long time, with SoR performing better on weekends and BG performing better on weekdays. But it has become more severe with WvW Season attracting even more PvE player base, which benefits BG more than it does SoR, simply because BG has a much greater PvE population.
All in all, who cares. This isn’t to say that one server is better than the other. We should all just be grateful for great fights because what would BG or SoR be without the other?
Sensible post IMO, but I thought I’d comment on a couple things. First, I’d be careful with “undisputable facts”, when you really don’t have the actual data to back it up. I don’t necessarily disagree with your assessment, but that doesn’t make it fact. Second, the turn over into the week isn’t exactly “quantity over quality”. It just means as total participation drops into the week days it allows BG to get more of it’s hardcore WvW players onto maps, to better direct and motivate the “quantity”. It’s not easy though. Just yesterday during SEA we almost lost Garri and had a very frustrated SEA commander log out because players on the map weren’t rallying. My point is, it’s not as simple as “quantity over quality”.
[KnT] – Blackgate
At this current time that is what im saying, ZDs primetime is during the switch of SEA -> EU which there are NO guilds to fight and so they coming here seems pointless because they will just PvD and from what EU sources ZDs dont want to PvD and so they will leave NA in a few weeks unless they are able to attract more competition from their timezone over which I highly doubt as we have already tried..
So yeah, enjoy being bored of rubbing faces onto keyboards onto doors i hope its really great fun for you guys..
No guilds? SONG, SAHP and NYS can’t stay up a bit later to hand off to IRON, AFTL, KISS and WIC (how come nobody mentions the WIC transfer to SoR?). Surely there are enough commanders across these guilds to run other players on the map through these zones. I know many BG NA commanders and players have been playing more often and longer to help hand offs into OCX and beyond. Our SEA has been hit hard with SUPR moving to SBI and our Thai friends having ISP problems, so LP has barely been able to play this week or at all.
SONG/SAHP/NYS/etc always have logged early and you would think we have the commanders but JQ/BG have bought almost all that we had off us
I see. We bought SoR commanders. Okay then.

TITAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have missed you <3 welcome back to the forums, where have you been?
Just don’t.

Glad ArenaNet came out with WvW Leagues. Season 1 will set the precedent for following seasons. Every server fighting their best. What more can anyone ask for?
The WvW Leagues are the worst things that could have come to GW2, that and the huge achievements on WvW, making people that don’t give a kitten about WvW to pick up usefull slots…
I can’t necessarily disagree with this, but you either choose to play the game a bit differently for 7 weeks or you don’t. We can’t control the fact that the game mode was changed on us temporarily, but we can choose how we play it.
The one saving grace that’s in my head is the hope that Season 1 gets more players interested in and possibly addicted to WvW that may have previously avoided it, which all in all is good for the format in the long run.
[KnT] – Blackgate
If IRON left SoR, SoR will become the next TC
This is sad time, sad time indeed. As much as I love SoR it is looking very bad
Chin up. SoR is a strong WvW server and I know Blackgate will never underestimate them or rest easy unless it’s clear that a lead is insurmountable. Morale and momentum plays a huge part in this game mode, and there are always peaks and valleys, which are amplified by morale/interest swings in a server’s more popular and effective commanders. This can turn on a dime and often when you least expect it.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Speaking of leaving, Why did KH leave? I miss them…
Gold Wars 2?
I doubt it, I hear they went to SoS…or was it mag…I don’t know, hearsay and all…
EP moved to SoS, and KH to Mag. If I were to guess, it was to get out of the queues and skill lag and salvage some fun for the 7 weeks of Season 1. I would not be surprised in the slightest to see them both back on TC when Season 1 is over. I personally hold both guilds in high regard.
[KnT] – Blackgate
Not until they fix the queue and release the overflow map hopefully.

Don’t even bother you will only go and set off the anti EU protesters again and we won’t hear the end of it for weeks if not months lol
It’s not like ZDS will stay for long anyways. A few weeks from now they’ll probably move back to EU like RG & GD.
Tisk Tisk. Always so negative! Whatever the outcome, it’ll be fun having them in the NA bracket, even if it turns out it’s just for awhile. IRON has been begging for good fights so it looks like their wish came true!
