As an Ele main, I had no idea this bug existed….

Does this affect the actual utility skill as well, or just the downed skill? I run Mist Form all the time, and use it frequently. If this bug affects the utility skill as well, that means I’m constantly resetting my WXP counter, which is totally unfair to anyone who manages to kill me.

Just the downed skill Vapor Form I’m sure, for reasons described above, where the WXP counter is reset when a player rallies, and Vapor Form is considered a rally apparently.

To me, the issue is actually more about the reset on rally. No way it should work that way. I don’t care how many times a player is downed and rallies … the counter should only reset when spiked or killed via damage while in downed state.

So maybe this whole discussion should change from a focus on Ele Vapor Form to the reset on rally (assuming it indeed is working this way).

Should be easy to test, if anyone has a friend on another server that you can coordinate with. Enter WvW together for the first time on some day (to ensure the Ele is worth 60 WXP), find a nice quiet corner, down the Ele, Vapor then spike. I would also test spiking vs. killing with just damage, to be sure either death method has the same result. Also, and most importantly, get it on FRAPs and email it to Anet.

LOL! I like the part of the argument where Ele’s get to “decide”. Every Ele will use Vapor Form upon being downed, even if death is guaranteed. It’s just part of making things a little more annoying for your opponent.

That said, yeah this is a bug and should be fixed ASAP.

I really enjoyed that video. Not necessarily for the footage (let’s face it, large group footage got old a long time ago) but I think it’s a really cool DB guild highlight video and liked the music/editing. Well done!

I think they’re fine as is now, including their range. However, I think the use of wide video resolutions and window mode stretching to get a field of view that achieves AC targeting not otherwise obtainable still needs to be addressed.

We were already able to identify when and how this happened, and it was an unintentional glitch that involves normal game mechanics. It shouldn’t happen very often, but it obviously CAN happen, so hopefully Anet gets it fixed at some point.

I ran WvW last night without GM and honestly, I barely noticed not having it with the new base radius increase. I still need more play time with it though to determine if not having unblockable marks is an issue or not. So far I’m thinking it won’t be a problem. I’ve also ditched Staff Mastery for now, so it’s nice having an extra 20 points to use elsewhere.

I’ve gotten more bags in any one night of this matchup than I did entire weeks against Maguuma (and other servers such as Yaks Bend or Ehmry Bay). The ppt’s a little lacking due to coverage and numbers, but there’s no shortage of good fights. My computer hates T1, though. =(

Yeah I dunno. It’s not even worth it for WXP in my view. 4 SM captures in a hour (conceivable number if coordinated keep trading is going on) is 3,000 WXP, which is 50 kills at full player WXP. Even if you average 30 WXP per kill, that’s 100 kills which is not much in an hour.

Most reports that we have received were very vague and didn’t give much more information other than the actual objective, but with the help of my QA and what I saw we were able to get a better repro and submit a more detailed bug for further investigation.

Sounds like we need more Anet players engaging in WvW like you then Hugh. Some of these bugs have been reported for months! I have a hard time understanding how all of the reports you likely received were so vague that it couldn’t be replicated outside of normal game play. Maybe your in-game reporting function needs to be looked at as well?

I think we need to remember guys that the choice a guild makes and the reasons they transfer to a particular destination are many and varied, and a guild never really knows if they are truly making the right decision or not. Sometimes you have to use the information you have at the time and go with your gut. There are many things behind the scenes that very few of us outsiders really know or understand. I’ll admit, I was also scratching my head when I heard the news about WARD/ACO last week, but quickly realized that there were probably reasonably well thought out reasons behind the choice, and some things may come to light in the future that may at least soften our/your disagreements with it.

I certainly understand the feelings expressed by some JQ players, but the fact still remains that none of us are in a position to judge. It does still sting though, especially when a situation that was already difficult only becomes more difficult. Even then, I personally choose to wish departing players/guilds well and look forward to the chance to stomp them (or get stomped by them) on the field.

BG destroyed both servers when there was a lower tier server in the mix, but to show true superiority BG needs to become a King maker. BG needs to choose who becomes second place. Then they will truly put JQ and SOR in their place.

So what your saying is that it is not possible for a guild to have predominantly east coast player base? With that would you go as far as to say that it is also impossible to have a predominantly west coast player base?

With a 3 hour difference it’s quite possible for people to look for guilds with players that are closer to there time zone. My last guild was a east coast guild, most to all of the players lived on the east coast. So with me being a west coast player most of the guild players were offline well before I logged off. You can’t claim a absolute like “There is no such thing” when there are so many possibility involved.

How many actives did you have in this “east coast guild”?

I think what is being missed here in this discussion is guild activity is often driven by the time zones of a guild’s primary commanders. I rarely see BT for example, as their commanders usually tag down as I’m just logging in. On the flip side, I joined KnT last year because Ridculy and Riven were always online and leading during my playtime and late into the night (8pm-1am server time). As a result, I define BT as a EST guild, and KnT as a PST guild. In the end I think it’s about the commanders most of the time. Players tend to gravitate to guilds who have commanders online during their primary play times, which does (in my opinion) create differences in EST vs PST coverage over time.

Changes to turn speed sound great, but we are unable to do them with the system as currently set up. That’s why you won’t see any changes of that sort for the foreseeable future.

Then I highly recommend reworking that system to be extensible. Fixing inextensible systems earlier in development can save a lot of effort and prevent bugs down the line.

Plus, +100% turn speed would be a worthwhile trait on catapults, mortars, and trebuchets.

Well, we were out last night in EB, roaming between QL, SM and Durios and had tons of open field engagements. Pryan (I think that was him) showed up a couple of times with a huge float group, and even moved to Green side of the map once or twice where we engaged above Klovan and once at the supply camp, but then vanished. Since Valley supply went from 800 to almost empty in a flash, I guess his main goal was ferrying supply to another map. Just saying, making broad generalized statements about hiding behind walls and rage logging is off the mark.

So what changed? JQ being in the match. JQ obviously has a significant impact on the balance of BG v SoR. I’m not saying that they specifically target one server over another, but rather simply that their presence creates balance. I believe much of this is because JQ commanders know how to play the 2v1 T1 meta, as they’ve been doing it for months. They know where to push and why, and they’re good at it.

The previous 4 matches were very close, right up until Friday in a couple of cases. Although, I personally believe morale is a factor as well. BG is surging right now and SoR appears to be slumping. These things ebb and flow. BG will subside and SoR will surge again.

This is spot on. The number of active WvWers on a server is irrelevant when there are caps on each map. The only way to realistically spread out the player base would be to reduce those caps. However, Anet tried this late last year, and the result was no meaningful improvement in skill lag while also adding in some glaring issues with their queue system as queues shot up for many servers and some very angry and frustrated players.

Here is what Mike Ferguson said about it in an interview back in February …

We generally try to avoid changing the [map] limits as it greatly impacts the game, but it is one of the things we can manually adjust to help us evaluate our changes when they go live. After the last patch we tried reducing the limit quite a bit more than what has been typical for the last few months to see if we could ease some of the lag issues players experience during some of the larger fights around Stonemist, but changed it back after a few days because we didn’t see a major improvement and it was just too detrimental to the game.

Later regarding queues …

Queues do indeed behave in a strange manner. Unfortunately, I don’t have any more news about that as it does boil down to resources. It’s a fixable problem, but we need some time from a very specialized type of programmer for that job and they’re all currently busy with other tasks.

Anet basically painted themselves into a corner on this issue, and the only real option they have at this point is to increase server processing capacity or find a way to reduce processing lag with engine/code improvements. The simple fact remains however that one should expect that the game should operate flawlessly within the currently set map population limits. It’s doesn’t, but Anet can’t lower the limits without causing a large uproar from a good chunk of the WvW playerbase. It’s quite the problem.

That’s actually not true, we had low covered during NA primetime in one of our borderlands.

I didn’t say anything about NA prime during a random Thursday. My comment was about reset. Maybe on a random Thursday night SoR will not have 4 map queues. I’ve played on SoR long enough have some idea about its population and how its reset works.

T1 is well on its way to being one of the worst matchups now. Transfer to the gut like Agg and get matchup variety. This is where the most fun will be now. The concept of T1 is pretty much slowly withering away.

Until JQ is no longer the automatic qualifier for 3rd spot and then SoR/BG posters will be complaining that the match-up algorithm is “messed up” because you’ll be playing FA/TC/DB every week.

with the way the RNG system works that wont happen. TC will come up once they face kittenain, and when they do they will eat up alot of RNg from both sor and bg. TC will take JQ spot and t1 will be locked again. Atleast for a month or so

Well, this started in the closed thread, but here’s the idea in the flesh. What I’d like to propose, since the battle is effectively over, is a glorious send off of the week with the three servers showing a bit of T1 unity… before destroying each other in glorious combat.

It’s 12:50 PM eastern US right now. Pick a time, say 2PM or whatever works. At that time, whomever owns SM becomes host for the event. Teams from the other two servers meet at the gate between them and have one team each put up a ram on the gate and take it down. Then, as a whole, the three servers meet on the walls flying as many kites as they can muster between them. After so many weeks of great fights, have a little fun! Take pictures, film, etc. Then comes the good part.

All three servers take corners in the courtyards for a grand three way Battle Royale. Last ones standing get to claim/hold SM (and bragging rights).

There are rules.

1. No rezzing the fully dead. Downed is fine, dead you’re out.
2. No seige. No ACs, cannons, nothing. (Engineer elite mortars are ok.)
3. No waiting for the other two servers to damage each other. When it begins, it’s all in for everyone.
4. Video and pictures are required. This should be shared.

I’m stuck at work, so can’t do much more than propose the idea… if you like it, it’s up to the servers to set it up and work it out. Now go have some fun!

As I said in the match thread, awesome idea and I hope it happens. Although, people may want to order another keyboard ahead of time as the follow up battle is probably going to break a lot of people’s #1 keys. Anyhoo, looking forward to the videos/pics if someone can actually pull this off.

Get many pictures of the largest three-way kite fest to every grace the Mists. When done, select a nice open patch of ground and simply have a three-way bag fest for fun.

Hehe there is a lot of truth to this. Anything is possible when it involves kites though! I personally think it could happen, if someone could somehow get all three servers on the same page (no easy feat). Although the end of it would likely resemble the “red wedding” from Game of Thrones.

In typical fashion the final score of this match won’t reflect how incredibly close it was most of the week. When we turned over into Thursday server time the score for 1st and 2nd was basically dead even. I don’t think there are many T1 matches since launch that can make such a claim. Well fought everyone, and thanks to my comrades and enemies for some great fights and good times. It looks like things are shaking up again so relish in how good this match was. Now to next week! Onward and upward!

Normally I see PRX transfer to a tier 2 or below server to help bring them up? I don’t remember following them to a #1 or #2 server. There’s nothing to prove other than looking at the points tick.

Nah, Jericho is right. I also highly doubt [WARD] really transferred to SoR. That is either a troll tag or just someone who wanted their tag to be WARD as well. BG has a SG and so does JQ. Kinda like that.

HAHA! He hakitten you for a few days. BG is very correct in saying he hit them for months. BG was the more challenging server and ATM likes great fights. So in about 4-5 months you can say that they are doing it to you like he did BG.
