It is a bit depressing that I use a MH Axe in WvW for literally one skill (#3), albeit a great skill for what I do. Still, I would love for the auto attack to be a cleave.

Hmmm. I have to wonder if what you’re experiencing is what most people mean when they describe “skill lag”, as FPS has nothing to do with it. It’s about the server’s instruction processing becoming so bogged down, that it will no longer accept skill commands from clients, followed by a period of skill “turbo mode” when the lag subsides and the server catches up to real time.

There was a mention in the most recent patch notes. I personally think they stealth patched the optimizations earlier to test it, as I noticed a vast improvement almost 2 weeks ago.

Anet probably didn’t emphasise it because they wanted to be sure that it really did reduce skill lag meaningfully. Players are touchy about claiming something that doesn’t come to pass.

People have been saying WvW is dying since month 2.

Leagues have put more people into WvW than have been in there for months, the queues were bad, for all servers in that first week, thats a GOOD THING for WvW, it means people are playing, and it means people find that its worth waiting for. If the devs had put even an ounce of thought into the schedule, we wouldn’t have this stupid repetitive matchup problem, and JQ SOR and BG would probably all have full queues still.

If queues get too long for individuals, or even for guilds, they will transfers off and go lower, something I think everyone can agree is a good thing. That was DIEs main reason for leaving SOR and BG has lost several guilds to it and after seasons are over I’m sure some more will too.

Things will continue to shift and change just like it always has.

Of course. And those players will be back to PvE when the season is over. I think what Kin was referring to are players who entered WvW primarily for the achievements, found they actually liked it, and joined WvW focused guilds to play the format more or exclusively in the future. I think when all is said and done, many servers will end up with more WvW regulars than before the season started, which is a good thing overall I think.

Lemongrass primarily. I see trays of compote dropped sometimes too, but I don’t carry it. The thing about on kill effects is you need a snowball effect to take place for it to be meaningful, where other options provide immediate and consistent benefits. Although admittedly, when that snowball gets rolling it can be pretty powerful.

Your reply seems overly defensive. I asked an honest question, and I never said you “hit” like a wet noodle, I said you “crit” like a wet noodle, then you never directly answered my real question, which is if you think the raw power and attack makes up for it. Although, based on the tone of your reply, I guess you did answer me indirectly.

On the contrary, I find that you don’t need nearly that much armor and health and still remain quite durable and even play on or near the front line in large group encounters with a Necro. Instead that stat allocation can move towards stats that increase raw damage to put health pressure on enemy zergs. To each their own I guess.

I noticed an improvement even before this week’s patch, although it could have been less 3-way blobs slamming together in recent weeks. Still, I have a sneaking suspicion that they had already pushed some of their engine optimizations live. It’s certainly welcome if it holds up. I’ll have to wait for a 3-way gangbang in a Garri Lord’s room before I pass judgement.

I think the majority of negative things being said about SOR this week and last, is about the players who decided not to play for one reason or another. I personally appreciate every SOR player who is still coming out for the fights.

Specifically [choo]. They have a deep roster and they have consistently put a solid force out on the maps over the last few weeks. You guys are also always fun to compete against if BG has a solid force or I am running with my guild.

Here is the first statement regarding dolyak finishers when Season 1 was announced.

The winning world in each league will unlock a stack of supply dolyak finishers for their use in WvW and PvP. 1st place in the gold league will get a gold dolyak, 1st place in the silver league a silver dolyak, and 1st place in the bronze league a bronze dolyak.

Regarding the duration of the finisher, on September 1st, Devon Carter said this …

Winners will have access to the finisher until there are new winners. At that point those people will gain access and the winners from the previous season will no longer have access to the stomp.

Think of it like this, the finisher is intended to show off who won the last season. If you don’t continue to win each and every season, you will not retain the bragging rights.

So we’ve gone from a “stack” of dolyak finishers, for the winners of each league receiving gold, silver and bronze finishers, to the top three servers in each league getting a temporary but semi-permament finisher? Will it be Gold, Silver and Bronze in each league, or will it be 3 golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronzes (bronzes sounds funny … bronzezess my precious!) somehow separated by 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes?

I’ll admit I’m pretty confused too. Maybe Devon can clarify if it’s just inconsistent wording or if something changed.

I have a wvw power necro that puts out about 2700+ power with 25 stacks of bloodlust and has nearly 2000 toughness and nearly 3K armor along with having 33K health with 5 stacks of applied fortitude. Go figure.

But in the rare chance you do crit, you do so like a wet noodle. Do you find that the raw power and attack outweighs having a respectable crit chance and damage? Or is your build more about being a mobile siege weapon?

I don’t think I care for the graphic on the axe, although, I don’t even know what it is because it’s so small I can barely see it. So far I much prefer the standard DS 1 graphic. Maybe I just need to give it time.

Trait template is almost out of the question now that ANet are selling those re-trait gizmos on the TP.

They wanted to make it inconvenient enough for you to buy them, ergo, no templates/presets whatever you want to call them.

They can just sell “build slot” tabs in the hero’s panel for a marker up price. Once bought you can assign a build to it which you can swap out at lets say 10s(marked up from class trainer) anytime you want. But if you want to change any of the tab then you need to go t oa class trainer or have the gizmo bought to retrait those.

I would not mind paying premium for this feature, and I think Anet would make a good chunk of change from a lot of players this way as PvEers and WvWers love to change specs more than they do their underwear.

Interesting, I had not heard that before. Do you by chance have a source for that information? Personally I’m really enjoying the current system. To have the competition between the different servers in each bracket as well as the long-term goal of winning your bracket really increases the excitement of the matches, at least in my opinion. I feel like they really mean something now, whereas before, while they were fun, I did not ACTUALLY care much about whether we won or lost. Just my personal opinion though.

BG has placed first in all their matches so far as well as winning 13 out of 14 matches with SoR. Still waiting to see where BG was in such dire straits.

Oh ya, SoR had higher ppt for a few ticks one day out of the week.

I do find it funny that BG keeps using the match before Leagues as proof that they had it so hard when most servers took it easy to get ready for League. Even some of the BG forum warriors even commented as such.

Many of us answered you like 3 days ago. The problem is you have your hands over your ears while shouting “LALALALALALALA”.

I can almost guarantee you that they will reward both servers the same in the event of a tie. There’s really no other way to do it at this point, given the fact that it wasn’t spelled out ahead of time.

I don’t kniw why people continue to argue with KeeZee. His mind is made up and nothing will change that. He’s only in this thread because he used to play on BG, transferred to JQ and obviously has an axe to grind. My guess is he moved with Pro, which would explain some of the anger.

I use it all the time in WvW. It also has the funny graphics side effect of sliding across the ground on your face when running after the fall. Oh the rocks and splinters!

Not exactly. While there is some crossover, they are defined differently, with Oceanic starting further west (earlier) and SEA further east (later). We’re talking about some very wide regions in some cases however, so what ultimately matters is the concentration of players in a particular region of any given country for a server. In other words, when certain servers reach critical mass.

We’ve seen a bit of this phenomenon right here in our own NA times, with SoR traditionally having a higher concentration of East Coast US and Brazilian players, who would start 3-4 hours earlier than when BG would typically reach critical mass, which is/was West Coast US, again 3-4 hours later.

The league itself has been kinda… something. The best outcome would be for it to come down to that last match, otherwise the last 2 weeks are pretty boring/meaningless. We’ll do our best to win vs BG. We’re resting up; we’re getting ready. Regardless of the outcome, however, we will be out there fighting until the last possible moment. Deny JQ access to SoR or BG for too long, and we get super cranky and out for blood.

I expect that match to be all out war. At minimum, it’ll probably be the 2nd best match in gold league of the season I expect. Also, as you say, it has the chance to set up a pretty interesting week 7. Much is still unknown at this point and I’m pretty excited to see how it all plays out.
