Very poor video, he total misses the points why people are upset, and he is pulling numbers out of his kitten , he even says that he doesn’t have figures.
Agreed. Actually wanted to dislike the video, but apparently he hid behind a safe wall.
Actually I think he made a valid point. Anet knows how many players by percentage have even 1 legendary. They know how many have 2.
If they create 16 legendary journeys, what they’re doing is creating content that most people will never do. It’s not really like a dynamic event or even a dungeon or fractal. It’s a long term goal that many people either can’t reach or can’t be bothered going for.
Saying that he doesn’t have numbers is quite irrelevant because Anet does have those numbers and they made the decision.
OMG this is killing me, Excellant Post Vayne!!!!! lol

Silly time to poll people after a major announcement when people are still angry. Some people will stay angry and some people won’t. So yeah….not really the time to post this sort of thing. I’d have waited at least a couple of weeks.
Timing is everything and to be honest I have no issue with OP’s timing. People are mad because of lack of Legendary’s (not me I’ll never invest the time for one) others because the same issues are still issues with game performances. (drops, glitching out doing stories, etc)
I (uh oh I’m about to get blistered) have no problem with letting Legendary’s take a back seat if they are going to fix the ongoing game issues.
Polls are a way for people to release their frustration (like your post about not getting a legendary or Ascended Armor can’t remember which one it was) and provides a little feedback to the developers.
Will they listen, only time will tell….. So I say go forward and make polls if it helps you cope!!!!! WooHoo lol
But the timing makes the poll useless if it gives a false positive.
Let’s say an election is 6 months out and someone takes a poll on who you would vote for, right after a specific scandal.
The poll will very likely not reflect the election results.
Some people will remain angry and some will cool down. So the poll’s results will be inaccurate. People mostly answer questions based on how they’re feeling when they answer a poll.
This poll has little value because if Anet said we have a new expansion for $1 and 12 maps, everyone would buy it.
Again I have no issue with the Poll its like the media, break the news while the subject is hot (no pun intented) so do all the polls you want.
I also realized I didn’t answer the question and my answer is Yes I will in all probability buy the expansion. I have been a fan since GW1 and I still have faith in ArenaNet.
I see the “moving on” from the previous lead to be a positive, he did reach for the stars but often promised more than possible.
I just want the issues resolved then move on to the new shiny things. Mega Servers have been an issue since day 1 and no resolution. They just got pushed back into the limelight due to the new Meta Events but we have always had to try to group to get on active maps and that should never be the case.
Bugged content has gone on since the beginning in various areas to numerous to list (Dungeons, fractals, open world, everywhere).
So again Poll, poll away and maybe something will get things moving in the right direction.
Remember Vayne as the old saying goes, you need to strike while the iron is HoT….. (Pun intended this time)….
You certainly do need to strike while the iron is hot, assuming you’re trying to brand something. A poll like this is trying to make a point, not gather actual data. Hey while you guys are really mad, will you buy the next expansion. It’s just another way to say, look Anet, see how many people are mad.
As if Anet hasn’t noticed. lol
I never said I was mad all I said was I had no issue with someone wanting to add a poll. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it any less relevant. Do I do polls, nope but that doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t have the right. I live in the US where we have freedom of speech, how about you?

What is the keybind? I will try but it is a shame we still have to use workarounds after 9 months
The interact key is whatever you assigned to it. It’s the button you press to gather for example, which is F by default.
Personally, I ran through this fight maybe 5 times in the last week without any problems and I’ve never had a problem with just running in to the updrafts, being flung into the air and holding space (~150ms ping for comparison). Keep in mind that if an updraft spawns on top of you, I’m guessing it’ll not work, so you’ll want to run to a different one. I’m not sure if it’s still a problem, but if you die to Mordremoth, you need to intentionally die again on the second attempt, otherwise the encounter will be start in the next stage where the area is smaller.
Thanks I’ll give it a try, on a side note any idea what caused my friend who was at 75-80% health to be put into the same “time out” area that I was put in as a death penalty? Like I said I had never seen that and he was like “What the heck just happened” lol

Another thing I noticed over the Weekend, was I had a time where I was kicked out just doing personal HoT story on a different Toon. When you have folks in your friends list you can see when they log in and out. Several that were on my list followed the same logging in logging out sequence that I had at the same time so they were losing connect as well, several times in a row.
They are all in different states and countries so again this is ArenaNet not local ISP’s.

Why do people talk about crashes when the OP is complaining about being disconnected?
Because people use the terms interchangeably. Disconnects could have nothing to do with Anet, and there’s nothing they can do to fix his ISP problems.
Actually it may not be their ISP, I have lost connection before (running 64 bit) using duel monitors, TS3 on one so I can stay in communication with Guildies. TS stayed on with Business as usual and GW2 drops. If it was the ISP the TS would also drop.
ArenaNet apparently uses the same error message for both. Remember the error message is written by a programer and can say anything you want. Most use number like Error 400 or 500 so they know what causes the problem and gives them a starting point.
Thanks!!
On a lighter note Colin probably owes Mike a drink or ten for bailing right before this announcement.
I’m not sure he bailed.
I have to agree with you on this….

Once again final boss bugged. Sitting here now watching Guildy fight, I was killed because even after walking into leyline it didn’t fly, then another Guildie was at Three Quarters Health and got auto transported into the holding area I got sent. After approximately 9 months it is still buggy. Makes me wanna fund this game when they won’t address an issue that is this Large.
As I noticed several have said they don’t notice them, if that be the case then why charge them if they are so trivial? I just think it would be nice, just like when armor repairs went free, you probably paid little attention to that but it is a nice thing to have.
If the amount of Gold from Waypoint use is not enough to affect the economy, it isn’t enough to seriously affect Wallets.
If the amount of Gold from Waypoint use is enough to affect Wallets, then it is enough to affect the economy.
To me its more of an annoyance and considering all the drop rate nerfing that has gone on since HoT released (Dungeons is an example) then make them free and take the thought out of the equation.
Waypoint fees help fight inflation by deleting coins from the economy. Removing them would require additional fees being added elsewhere, or coin drops being heavily nerfed.
Well they have already nerfed the drops so I guess I feel since drops are so bad give something. I think it would also help when looking for help. I see what you are saying but I don’t think it is really an economic issue.
Just a comment and question. I would love to see them make waypointing free once you open the waypoint. This would (in my opinion) make world movement more fun and quicker. I mean we can go to WvW and then Lions Arch why not just make the travel free? Thoughts?
Anet have already said they are looking into it. Remember, it took months to phase in the system so it’s not something that can be fixed in a couple of days. The fact the it works well in core Tyria but is such a mess in HoT is a bit of a mystery to me. I assume there’s something different with the two map types that has broke the system in HoT.
Anyway, trying to fix the system can just as easily make things worse, so I’d rather Anet take their time and do it properly. Lfg and taxiing is not perfect, but it’s workable.
Actually my experience has been the same in the old maps as the new, they are just noticed more. Try doing Guild events and pop to a location where your other guildies are and see how many times you end up in a different instance.
As for Dragon Stand, it wouldn’t solve everything but if they turned off the map wipe every 2 hour until they got this resolved that would help folks stay connected with groups.
Again this is my opinion only
The point is, there are people who raided in other games who came here specifically because the game didn’t have raids and they could get the best stuff without raiding. Now that’s gone.
Um, what do you mean by “the best stuff without _”? It’s a skin, not a stat bonus. Plus the game already required dungeons to get dungeon armor & weapons, fractals to get fractal weapons, silverwastes to get lumi armor, and (for a brief period) WvW to get Legendary Weapons.
When the game first launched and for well over a year after, there were lots of people who said they could never get dungeon skins; it was just too hard. The same for fractals: I know even more people who thought those were inaccessible, too. And of course, there are all sorts of PvP skins (and achievements) gated behind competitive gaming.
So now, people are saying Raids are too exclusive — I have trouble believing that. I think people are claiming foul before ball has landed.
I think it’s reasonable that some people think that a game purportedly designed for casual players should not have any features gated behind skill. I think it’s reasonable that some people think that features should not be gated behind larger groups.
However, I also think it’s completely reasonable for ANet to disagree with both ideals, especially since they are in the business of making games profitable enough to keep making games, which means appealing to different types of players.
On a related note, I think there are lots of ways that ANet could try to bridge the differences across the community’s expectations — making Raids easier is one and/or making it easier to obtain mag-shards, but I think those are the most short-sighted.
One of the core sensibilities seems to be that there’s some amazing advantage in having stat-adjustable armor (although frankly I rarely make use of it for legendaries).
So, ANet could introduce a wardrobe-like system that offers something like Trans-statial charges, comparable to transmutation charges — perhaps bought or perhaps crafted — allowing you to change stats (& runes|sigils) on the fly. Legendary owners get the costs waived, so there would still be an advantage and it would probably have to be fairly expensive (for various economic reasons).
Then the only things Raids would gate is a skin. And the game already has plenty of gated skins, so I am hoping this wouldn’t be as much of an issue.
I never had problems with skins. But legendary isn’t just about skins. It’s a tier of gear.
Right now, I have enough skins to choke an ox. Could I work for more skins? Sure. I would I realistically at this point be likely to use more skins….not so much.
But armor that I could reskin taht I could change stats on, that IS something I could work towards. It’s a meaningful goal to me.
My goal used to be achievement points, until I hit my cap and they became too grindy even for me. Now there’s no real reason to push myself to get those achievement points, or in some cases even log in.
Combine that with my finishing getting every dungeon and armor skin…even the PvP reward tracks that are left don’t really interest me that much. Yeah, I could get all the glorious armor, I suppose. I’m just not interested enough in PvP to do that.
So I find myself at a crossroads. If this game is about progression, but there’s no meaningful progression left to me, then I’m not going to play as much.
On the other hand, new story is coming out and that IS meaningful progression to me. This is just growing pains while Anet gets moving on the stuff that I like.
I’m 100% sure something will come out sooner rather than later, another 3-4 months maybe that will get me back into the game hardcore.
But right now, what I have left that I enjoy is helping new players and building the guild…which is what I guess I should be focusing on.
Wow been reading your last few posts on this subject and I agree with you 100% (Uh oh watch the lightning lol) I’m in basically the same boat.
23 Toons all level 80 15 with Map completion and all with Exotic Gear and Ascended trinkets. I’ll never see Ascended Armor or Legendary to much of a boring grind not fun just grind.
I spend my days now (when online) helping Guildies level our Guild Hall and add to it as well as take them on Dungeon runs, Fractals, and whatever anyone wants/needs help with.
Got 3 through the HoT personal story working on #4. I just keep telling myself to keep the faith while awaiting the April Patch. I’m not a fan of PvP or WvW myself lol.
May be worth it if it was at least an Exotic but for a rare? No thank you….
It hasn’t escaped my attention either that the only red posts are from Gaile when she started this thread.
Back before I started that Dev post in Reddit thread I kept seeing these posts on the forum where people were begging for help on precursor crafting. There were a number of events that required failure and this was setting up deliberate griefing as well as innocent event completion that stopped people who had been trying for days to get their needed item. People were coming to the forum and making thread after thread trying to get a red post about this situation. If there was even one red post answering them, I never saw it.
Then one day, I found the reddit dev tracker and browsing through that I found a red post talking about this situation to someone over there. It was over a month old at that time. That irritated me. They posted an important piece of information there and couldn’t take the time to post that on just one of the many posts here? That’s when and why I decided to make that thread.
From comments on the forum I know that some people think I’m doing ANet’s job for them as a favor to ANet and to suck up to ANet (I was outright told that in a thread on this forum). I’m not. I’m doing it as a favor to the other posters on this forum and I’m doing it because ANet’s not doing their own job by making relevant information centralized and easily accessible. Whether ANet likes me doing it is irrelevant to me and personally I hope it embarrasses them a little. Who knows, maybe it will embarrass them enough that one day they’ll do their own job and make sure that posts on non official sites get cross posted on their official form.
I clapped for this post. Seriously.
I appreciate everything you do and all the information that you bring to us, everyday, often multiple times a day.
You are top notch in my book.
Ty.
I wouldn’t have bothered to post the why’s and wherefore’s of that thread but after seeing a couple of comments about how I was especially favored now, I thought it best to say exactly why I started it and to comment that the moderators haven’t been cutting me any slack, which is another thing I was told. They infract and warn me as readily as any other person here. Since there are some people who think I get special favors or moderation I thought it best to say directly that I don’t.
Edit: spelling
My God you are so right, I see one poster in particular that is above reproach. This comment will be deleted and infracted in 3, 2, 1……………………………
Wow can I get the summarized version of the Original post?
I must say I don’t feel ripped off because the core went free to play, because I got a 4 1/2 year head start when I bought and I original got the middle package (I think it was $79.99) because I wanted the extra items but didn’t need the artwork version.
HoT in its current state is somewhat disappointing because of the issues with lost connection during Metas and having to use Looking for Group instead of getting a popup asking if you wanted to participate in the Meta and being added to the server that was filling.
I bought the $100.00 version because it was the same as buying the game for base price and buying 800 gems. The jury is still out as far as it being worth the cost, I want to see what the April updates offer.
So in my opinion for $50.00 I will say yes it is a average deal, not great and not bad. After the release it may turn out to be awesome or it may be another disaster. Sorry for the flip flop style answer but to be honest there are so many unanswered questions regarding the path its hard to be 100% sure for or against.
I just hope it is more like year before last (able to log on and off to disable) instead of like last year where it couldn’t be turned off.
Not meaning to whine but it was so annoying I actually quit playing until after it was gone. I know a lot of folks enjoy it so that’s why I suggest the on off ability.
Sounds like your husband needs to get more vitality stat armour and a pet class. Toughness pulls like a magnet so avoid that. If you can survive and his pets survive his chance of survival is basically guaranteed.
Lanfearshadowflame.3189 please jot down my screen name and find me online. I run with a group of various ages and skill level players. You can join our guild if you want but don’t have too. We would be more than happy to help you and your husband. We aren’t a bunch of world killers as individuals but as a team we can do anything.
We do a little of everything and really enjoy meeting new people and forging friendships. Take care and hope to see you all online….
Noted.
While I have no issues taking you up on the offer, I’ll see if he’s interested. Like I said, when we play together, it’s really about us playing together. Some couples go on dates. Some do adventure stuff. We game.
Beyond that, he’s …. very anti-social, I guess is the polite way to put it. He has a very hard time making friends, cause he really just doesn’t like people. Of course, considering a lot of the people we’ve ran into in the past, I can’t say I blame him.
I understand just thought I would offer. As an FYI I almost exclusively play Light and Medium Armor classes mostly light.
My main is my Mesmer using Chromomancer with Beserker Stats on everything and Superior Rune of the Chromomancer on my Armor. I’m spec’d for High damage and illusions and I go down far less than most warriors and guardians that I see, as well as my Guildmates using various classes and builds. (That is in HoT where some say Beserker will not work)
I also run Beserker on my Ele’s and Thieves and have good survival rate so have him try that and to constantly dodge.
Again just a thought, I wish him luck and hopefully with trial and error (I know about error lol) he will find the build that is perfect for him.
Happy Gaming!!

According to some casual players (and this entire thread) they didn’t pick that “most profitable” side and instead went for the little minority
We’ll see.
Are you saying they did????
They did.

Git gut. End of discussion. If you don’t comply, go play My Little Pony Farm. Casuals started to destroy the gaming industry for far too long. Ever since mit 2005 as the huge masses of CoD-mass-market-consumer appeared on the screen…
Actually (I have no stats to back) I bet there are more casuals than so called “Hard Core” and from a business model point of view I will go for the biggest bang for the buck.
This is something I’ve never understood. “Hey there are more casuals than hardcore, so let’s ruin the game (any game) to cater to those casuals so we get more sales” instead of, you know, having content for hardcore and casual players at the same time?
Making content that appeals only to some “majority” is a dumb move that ruins games. For example, let’s play the “majority” game.
How many players like Not So Secret jumping puzzle? I’d guess a tiny fraction of the playerbase, so let’s remove it.
How many players like SAB TM? I’d guess a tiny fraction of the playerbase, TM isn’t for everyone, so let’s just remove it.
How many players do Fractal level 100? How many players compete at the pro leagues of PVP? How many players play the new Raids? How many players can actually kill Lupicus in Arah?
In general, how many players enjoy <insert any type of content>? And since you said about a business standpoint, why should a company create a turn based strategy game (let’s say like Civilization) or a great RPG with loads of mechanics/lore/story (let’s say like Pillars of Eternity) and not make a MOBA or a COD clone? Because those attract way more people… why bother with something that has less people interested by default?
If every company was thinking only with their wallets, computer gaming as a whole would be long dead. Should game development be focused on the majority? I’d say no.
Obviously reading past one sentence is not a strong point for you. Clip what you want to fit your agenda instead of reading the entire statement….
The rest of your post was irrelevant to the casual vs hardcore you mentioned in the first sentence. I addressed your comment about the “business model point of view I will go for the biggest bang for the buck.” which, as I explained, doesn’t have to be true.
Again pick and choose and from a business standpoint you are going to pick your highest revenue stream. You may not like it but if you must choose a segment all business will choose the one with the highest payout thus most profit.
If they choose to go with the lowest revenue stream odds are they will not please their shareholders thus pulling revenue from their base.
Very few companies in general can please everyone so they will pick the majority.
That’s false and I already said why. We would only have MOBAs and COD clones if that was the case. Pleasing everyone is impossible, but pleasing as many as possible isn’t so hard, that’s why they released 3 versions of SAB for example, that’s why they release jumping puzzles which are impossible for the average casual player (Their so called “majority”).
Do you believe it’s a mistake that they are releasing that content that is not for the average casual player? I say it’s not, I say it’s the best thing they could do, to provide something for everyone. The alternative, to release only content that is for the average casual player is too scary to even consider. We would only have SW-like maps for endless chest farms
My Lord do you not understand English? No one said anything about content I didn’t even pick a side I said they will go for what is the most profitable, if you can’t understand that I obviously can’t help you.
Grow up please or don’t make comments to my post if comprehension is that difficult.

LOL another forum complaining about folks complaining….. Hmmmm

And the “Git Gud” mentality is the problem most folks have with self proclaimed “Hard Core” players. To me this fosters the “I’m in Junior High School or never graduated” persona. Please folks consider others when making comments.
I can play it as is or with adjustments really doesn’t matter to me I like both models, I prefer playing with my Guild and anyone who wants to join our party or asks for help.
I do understand others who prefer to play solo, not everyone wants to be “forced” into teaming up, and before you say MMORPG it does not stand for having to team up or join guilds “Massive Mulitplayer Online Role Playing Game” no where does it say you must team up.
I think they had it right in the original Guild Wars (and no I’m not saying it was better) but if you remember you had the option after completing an area to play it in Hard Mode. I would like to see something modeled along those lines rather than either crazy hard or eye roll simple.
I will step down from my soap box now
I find playing HoT content alone to be tedious at times. Its slow going if I’m slogging through on my own, or I’m just another faceless body when I jump into the zerg-zerg-zerg content to work on assorted achievement tasks.
The last couple of weeks, I have been playing through the content with my husband. He loves aspects of HoT, but the general difficulty level is a bit beyond him, and he finds it extremely frustrating at times. For him, the game is about us playing together. He’s really not into zerg play. So, when we’re exploring, and we run into a hero challenge we can’t complete because he keeps dying, or I can’t keep the aggro to keep him alive, I can almost taste his frustration. He gets so angry, because the game is supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable (and the core game was). He works 70+ hours a week, he has 0 interest in spending hours trying to “get gud” as you people put it because that’s not the reason he plays. It hurts, and it’s sad to see him walk away from a game he used to really enjoy because after a decade of play, Anet just doesn’t give a rats kitten about his type of player anymore.
Revenants class is it better then others

In my opinion they were fun until the last Nerf, I went back to Mesmer, Ranger, and Thief… Of course they also Nerfed the Mesmer recently but at least I am familiar enough with the class to adjust my limits on the mesmer class..
Thank You for the heads up, it is Greatly Appreciated!!
Roughly 3.1 million players log in every month. Stated in a recent interview. This is probably the most played mmorpg atm
Wonder if that is accounts or Characters. I have 23 total atm and log in 12 different ones daily to flax farm for our Guild.
I have to agree somewhat with the OP, in regards to Armor and even weapons. Let all have access with effort but not over the top amount. That way whether it is in PvE, PvP, or the now defunct WvW armor and weapons stats are even and it does turn into who has the most skill.
For those that must have the Glory on how much better they are than everyone else, give them a title (example God among mortals etc). After all it is a game to enjoy.
I personally don’t worry about Legendary’s but if it was more attainable I might look at it just for the “halibut” lol
From someone who loves running Mesmers since day #1, the answer to “Is Mesmer inferior to other classes atm?” is Yes.
One thing that might help the Mesmer (this is my favorite class) would be to add additional stamina. For example leave the strength but when we dodge roll instead of getting 2 then waiting for the recharge give 3 or 4 (kinda like the Rev) so you can still survive even without adding more power or such… This helps when you leave a clone when you dodge. Just a thought..
My personal favourite is the hoards of people after the event standing at the chamber going “Key? Key? Key?”….
LOL I know what you mean I just stand back watch the jumper who have to be first then when they start entering I go otherwise I watch and laugh!!

Astralporing.1957 please don’t feed the gerbils, there are some that know all.
As an FYI don’t get caught into the “Gotta have ascended armor, weapons, accessories, trap” You can get exotic Armor from Karma Vendors and it is so close to the same stats as Legendary and Ascended it isn’t a factor (mostly cosmetic).
If you need different builds for you Weapons or Armor’s carry more than one set (they are not that expensive especially if you use Karma) then you can change to a specific build and don’t need the ability to switch stats (Legendary) just switch Armors or weapons.
If you just started in HoT please do not cheat yourself of the entire experience of GW2. Play the other areas, work on your build and skills and “Yes” Laurels are the best way to get Ascended Accessories, that is how I do it.
Mapping is not hard and if you let yourself get into the story instead of just focusing on the end result you will enjoy the game so much more. If your not in a guild find one with like minded people who enjoy playing the game, they will help you advance and learn.
I enjoy the time I spend chatting with Guildies in our TS or Guild chat for those who prefer to not use TS. If I personally can ever help feel free to add me as a friend or send an email I will help.
I’m not a pro by any means, but I’m always willing to help others. One of my Guildies asked me yesterday what my goal for endgame was and I said “to enjoy playing, have fun meeting new people from all over the globe”.
I noticed a drop in players, too. But… probably not where you guys have. I’m an avid forumer. I pay attention to the speed at which topics and threads move, and for awhile now the forum has been going at a snails pace. It is the slowest that I’ve ever seen it, really.
Although I do have a theory about this. It isn’t so much a “HoT is bad” as much as it is a “HoT wasn’t good enough” theory. Here’s how it goes: the thing with advertising and hyping up an expansion pack is that it can be theoretically anything. It can be the worst thing to happen ever in the history of gaming, but in general people like to speculate about how awesome everything will become. Because of this, the era before the release of an expansion pack is one of the busiest times for an MMO. It is full of people speculating and preparing for stuff that might be fun, as well as those players who are getting a last hurrah out of a game that they will fear to change.
But, once an expansion pack is released, then the infinite possibilities built up by expectations all come crashing down into a singular reality. In this moment, you will loose players based not only on how good the expansion pack is, but how high their expectations were. It doesn’t matter if something is only a minor nuisance. If it isn’t awesome, its the worst thing since EA. So after the pre-pack surge, you’ll get a pack surge when people actually buy it, then you’ll get a dramatic fall off afterward.
I try not to follow hype. Im talking actual in game content. If i suggest a game to my friends or talk about it on FB it has to be good.
What happened for me was GW2 the core game was awesome. The story had cheesy voice acting but it was believable and had depth. The PvE content was awesome from jumping puzzles, vistas, World Bosses and chain events that effect the area. PvP was top notch and IMO the best PvP of any MMO.
GW2 HOT is exactly what you said, It isnt bad but it just not as good and didnt add much to the core game. We got new elite specs which have gotten mixed reviews from people across the board but as someone who mostly PvP it really pigeon toed everything.
I wont go into a full review of the game but simply put nothing got better. No one is saying HOT is bad, its just isnt something you say to your friends you have to play this game because your not missing anything if you dont.
WOW perfect description, I (my opinion only) could not agree with you more… Awesome post and description.
Just wasted an hour of my time in DS.

Even then, 15 minutes to explore the sections full of the worst ennemies in the expansion is the dumbest idea I’ve ever seen, this needs to be changed aswell.
Just get on a dead map and explore first. You only need a few things at the end then.
Not if I wanna farm the Ore, and you forget the stupid rolling devils…
Exploring is exploring, farming is farming. You don’t have to do them at the same time. If you’re complaining you don’t have enough time to explore that’s one thing. 15 minutes is enough to open a boatload of pods.
Just curious, like what is the point of your post?
Like this players finds the 15 minute window to be unacceptable; you don’t. Are you trying to bring them to your side and convince them that your purely subjective opinion is better than their purely subjective opinion?
Or do you think that your purely subjective opinion trumps all and because 15 minutes is enough for you, it’s good enough for every single player who plays the game?
Or maybe you are part of that percentage of people on the forums who just seem determined to railroad any discussion involving criticism of the game, even if that criticism could help to make a better over all experience for everyone?
And, if we extended the time from 15 minutes to 30 minutes, what detriment would that cause the game? Like what awful, game ending thing would happen that warrants you telling everyone on the forums to essentially shut up, because “15 minutes is enough time, because you think it is”
The point of my post is that you only have 15 minutes if you’re doing the meta first and then exploring. But you don’t have to do the meta to unlock and explore most of the zone, because that’s what I did. And that gives you a lot more than 15 minutes.
I just go on a map where the meta isn’t being done and I run past stuff and explore. Most of the stuff comes in waves of three you can easy side step. Sometimes you have t to fight if you don’t time it right.
So my point is there is an alternative to the 15 minute thing. I always look for solutions to problems that already exist before I start asking for things to to be changed.
Now once you have the zone done, it’s quite easy to get the remaining hero points and the vista in 15 minutes.
I was suggesting a solution to the problem that OP had.
How is that a solution to the original poster? He/she was commenting in regards to being in a full blown meta and the server kicking them out while they were killing the final boss?
I come from RO, I cannot have to many wings.
Re colours I do agree are copouts we just need strait up dyable back items and a fix for the dye on glider system.
(Any colour other than blue for holographic shattered plz)
I would consider moving away from wings more if we had cloaks.
Ohhh invisibility cloaks lol…… Want one (or 2 or 3)
They do make a good point about a lot of the skins being “wasted”, though. Or, rather, of questionable development value because so few wind up with them.
Personally, I’d be fine with them becoming a lot more common. I don’t care if it’s exclusive or not, just if it looks good for the character using it.
I agree with you, exclusive isn’t why I chose a skin or weapon it’s how it looks. I like the little animations from some but not all. It is a personal choice thing, not everyone has to be the “only” special snowflake with that weapon/skin…lol
Bad coding is bad. Not being able to rename guilds is a perfect example of poorly thought out code.
That implies anet wanted guilds to have the ability to be renamed in the first place. Not being able to be renamed is hardly an example of bad code. It’s a perfect example of something people think should and want to be possible while the devs are of the firm opinion it should NOT be possible (for the same reason you cant change your display name). A guild’s reputation should not be easily shed like dog hair because something “bad” happened.
In the same instance just because something was identified as wanted or needed in the early stages of development doesn’t mean it couldn’t/shouldn’t change.
I agree that it’s not bad code but more likely not well thought out when the game was in the early planning stages.
Remember the big change implemented in the Queensdale Train Nerf? Look at all the nerfs going on to the various classes because some say that a class is too strong.
I think this is something where the benefits would far outweigh the negatives. And I also think you shouldn’t tie the hands of the many because of the actions of few.
Like one of the other posters said, only allow the Guild Leader to make the change, put a limitation on the number of times it can be done within a calendar year, and charge enough that it is not something done on a whim.
Thanks
Look guys I’m not looking for a P**ing contest I simply stated that I and several other folks I know would like to be able to change names of a Guild, plain and simple. I didn’t ask for everyone to try and tell me why it could or shouldn’t be done.
I ask ArenaNet to consider then others start trying to tell me why it can’t or shouldn’t be done. Then they want to throw out the technical knowledge to back their opinion. I have the same background probably more than some but most definitely less than other.
Could you just say yeah I would like to do that or No I don’t so that way ArenaNet would know if it would be something they should look at for later?
The attacks are why many do not say anything and to be honest this is the first time I have started a post requesting something. Is it really in our (the players) best interest to get into a P***ing contest?
I’m not the bad guy and neither are you all. Thanks and forgive me for having an opinion.
If you want us to forgive YOU for having an opinion, you have no reason to deny US for having an opinion either.
And let’s face it, Anet’s not going to bother introducing something like this.
Thanks for continuing to show your true colors……

Yes, it is a fair amount of work to support name changes in something like this. For example just consider the error handling and vetting – making sure that the new name is not pornographic. Who gets to change the name? Do we need a renaming privilege? Of course the new proposed name has to be validated as ‘unique’. Does unique include upper and lower case variants? What happens if there is a type? Supposed there is a dc during the process. Is the name stored in multiple persistent systems? Suppose two people are trying to change the name at the same time? Once the name is changed when does the old name become available for others to use?
And so on and on.
The previous project manager? Um clearly I would not want to work for a person like this. Totally unrealistic over-simplistic view of what a software change entails in something the scale of an MMO with millions of accounts.
Yeah I wouldn’t hire you, sounds like someone who makes excuses.
Wrong again 20 plus years experience, currently working with a Python back end. You may know some code but don’t go there…
Sorry to disappoint Illconcieve but it is an easy fix. I have worked in both database management and web design and my current job is project management combining boths. This would require the addition of a few columns/cells to go with the a couple of additional strings of code. Next excuse? I really don’t think ArenaNet needs help making excuses they do a good job by themselves with people playing sheep helping them with excuses that have no truth to them.
If you really think it’s that simple, you have never, ever, done any sort of coding in your life. I’ve been trying to create a GUI for asset management through the GW2 api, and despite coding that should be 100% functional, it’s spitting out errors that I really cant figure out how to resolve without resorting to drastically tearing apart the code at a fundamental level. Is it complex code? Not terribly complex unless you find foreach loop iterations going through a character’s inventory JSON output complex.
Here’s an example of the data nest I’m dealing with:
"bags":[{"id":8932,"size":20,"inventory":[{"id":68374,"count":52,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":67356,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":67280,"count":7,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":67979,"count":2,"binding":"Account"},{"id":68635,"count":22}, {"id":66624,"count":12,"binding":"Account"},{"id":67826,"count":8,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":21156,"count":2},{"id":74805,"count":3,"binding":"Account"},{"id":20316,"count":38}, {"id":71707,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":68634,"count":49}, {"id":67800,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":77699,"count":112},{"id":77692,"count":5}, {"id":73834,"count":19,"binding":"Account"},{"id":20016,"count":3,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":20002,"count":3,"binding":"Account"},{"id":20005,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":20013,"count":3,"binding":"Account"}]},{"id":49361,"size":18,"inventory": [{"id":19986,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":77750,"count":25}, {"id":38130,"count":164},{"id":20796,"count":85,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":8735,"count":20,"binding":"Character","bound_to":"Basandra Skye"}, {"id":68632,"count":6},{"id":68633,"count":4},{"id":9440,"count":4},{"id":24594,"count":1}, {"id":68109,"count":18,"binding":"Account"},{"id":19925,"count":3,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":77709,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":77648,"count":2}, {"id":36725,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":73204,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":49424,"count":136},{"id":43766,"count":6,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":70438,"count":18,"binding":"Account"}]},{"id":45053,"size":18,"inventory": [{"id":69432,"count":48,"binding":"Account"},{"id":68944,"count":29}, {"id":68387,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":68387,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":77576,"count":2},{"id":67777,"count":32,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":66608,"count":4,"binding":"Account"},{"id":64184,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":75032,"count":1},{"id":24282,"count":26},{"id":45176,"count":32,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":45175,"count":155,"binding":"Account"},{"id":45177,"count":2,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":24693,"count":1},{"id":19572,"count":1,"binding":"Character","bound_to":"Basandra Skye"},{"id":75919,"count":8},{"id":46733,"count":85,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":24787,"count":1}]},{"id":9576,"size":18,"inventory":[{"id":24517,"count":1}, {"id":24769,"count":2},{"id":24610,"count":1},{"id":24553,"count":1},{"id":24595,"count":1}, {"id":39223,"count":6,"binding":"Character","bound_to":"Basandra Skye"}, {"id":72796,"count":1,"binding":"Character","bound_to":"Basandra Skye"}, {"id":24532,"count":1},{"id":24631,"count":1},{"id":24626,"count":2}, {"id":67516,"count":5,"binding":"Account"},{"id":71416,"count":8,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":72815,"count":5,"binding":"Account"},{"id":24603,"count":2},{"id":74328,"count":15}, {"id":24739,"count":1},{"id":24775,"count":1}, {"id":46731,"count":42,"binding":"Account"}]},{"id":9576,"size":18,"inventory": [{"id":24574,"count":1},{"id":24722,"count":1},{"id":24700,"count":1},{"id":24549,"count":1}, {"id":24763,"count":2},{"id":24710,"count":1},{"id":77256,"count":31},{"id":24766,"count":1}, {"id":24628,"count":1},{"id":19534,"count":2,"binding":"Character","bound_to":"Basandra Skye"},{"id":12429,"count":4},null,null,null,null,null,null,null]}, {"id":9576,"size":18,"inventory": [null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null]}, {"id":38011,"size":20,"inventory":[{"id":26552,"count":1,"upgrades": [24571]},null,null,null,null,null,null, {"id":19554,"count":4,"binding":"Character","bound_to":"Basandra Skye"}, {"id":71541,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},null, {"id":19575,"count":2,"binding":"Character","bound_to":"Basandra Skye"},null,null,null,null,null,null,null,null,{"id":72411,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}]}, {"id":9579,"size":18,"inventory":[{"id":19984,"count":4,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":68369,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":69887,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":66999,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":73718,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":46887,"count":1,"skin":4890,"upgrades":[24591,24571],"infusions": [37138],"binding":"Account"},{"id":36172,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":50014,"count":1,"binding":"Account"},{"id":44638,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":67938,"count":1,"skin":4902,"upgrades":[44944],"infusions": [37138],"binding":"Account"},{"id":46884,"count":1,"skin":4204,"upgrades": [24575],"binding":"Account"},{"id":67937,"count":1,"upgrades":[24624],"infusions": [37138],"binding":"Account"},{"id":67943,"count":1,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":46877,"count":1,"skin":4874,"upgrades":[24548,24562],"infusions": [37138,37138],"binding":"Account"},null,{"id":19992,"count":22,"binding":"Account"}, {"id":20017,"count":4,"binding":"Account"},{"id":20018,"count":11,"binding":"Account"}]}]
