Mine are my Mesmers, unfortunately every time they do an update my class gets nerfed more and more…..
Yeah I bet that won’t happen, that way they sell multiple sets to crazy folks like me lol
Yeah I have the same issue with the permanent salvage tools I bought through the Gem Store. Now that I have the Shared inventory slots I have 6 sitting in my bank.
Ritualist love the spirits
Character names are meant to be reflections of your own personality and original, why would you want to copy someone else anyway? Just take a few minutes and as others have said try using a different spelling style.
I have 24 different names most using Blaq in the title. Blaq Widow, Blaq Oak, etc…. Find something you like and run with it. Be an individual in the sea of clones (Oh yeah I love my Mesmers lol)
While I would love a bunch of exalted guards and visitors in our gilded hollow, my real dream is to turn our guild hall into a new safe multi-layered Skritt city.
You’re gonna need a lot of Skritt house-keepers running around Guilded Hollow, polishing things and admonishing people not to touch the shinies.
LOL this would be awesome, I would love to see Skritt running around cleaning telling everyone to not touch the shinies!!
I always rotate between PvE, WvW, and PvP maps for dailies. I can usually complete the 3 required (more often more than 3) using all areas. Just an idea…
Thanks!!
Not sure if I would buy or not as like others I rarely use them and have a load, but if I did I wouldn’t pay over 1000 gems like the harvesting tools..
I love Mesmers and my Chromo’s. While building up the toon I use Superior Rune of the Traveler to gain speed, once you get the Chromo line/traits you can actually select 25% speed boost then switch to the Rune of your choice. I have been using the Superior Rune of the Chronomance and loving it. I run in PvE, PvP, and WvW and seems to be able to hold my own very well.
Good luck I would say you will love it.
Mea why comment at all?
Because this is a merchant’s official forum for discussion and feedback regarding their product. This purpose is not served by a, “if you dont like an aspect of the product keep it to yourself,” direction.
Because multiple feedback threads on the same subject are frowned upon and this one has the patina of officialdom due to the red post.
Ultimately Anet, the owner and operator of this forum, has asked for his feedback, positive or negative, and you have taken it upon yourself to try usurping their authority by countermanding their direction. They gave him permission to provide his negative feedback and yet you take him to task for it. He isnt the one being rude, or engaging in bullying, here.
LOL I sure hope you feel better. And you are who???? I’m so glad you felt compelled to join our little discussion. Would you like tea or maybe a soft drink?
Mea why comment at all?
Flesh maybe try reading yourself I didn’t say you didn’t like them just your overall comment to me was why I said I don’t care what Flesh said.Sorry Rose didn’t mean to damper your excitement I have always been the kid that took up for those I felt were being bullied and if Mea didn’t mean it that way I apologize to him/her, but that is how it came across to me.
Flesh I would apologize to you but you were not being spoken to but chose to jump in so…….. lol
Chill pill taken!!!!!
Yeah, I don’t know why I commented, I’m sorry. Now I know that “weird” is a rude word (at least to some people) and I will not say it again. I apologize as well, sorry for ruining the thread. Can we all live in peace now? Enjoy your gloves, everyone!
We’re cool man again sorry I misunderstood I really do hate to see folks picked on (or I felt they were being picked on). The funny thing is when folks direct stuff at me I laugh and joke back usually at my own expense. I will insult myself to get a laugh. I know I’m odd (Odd Thomas if you read Dean Koontz)…
Best wishes man!!

I posted to speak to Mea to agree with him that it’s acceptable on a public forum to post a dissenting view, and that Mea wasn’t rude to the OP in doing so. I didn’t speak to you until you mentioned my name on your post, and then I responded to the part about my wishing the gloves to be pulled, which was incorrect.
Again I did not say you said you wished they were pulled, heed your own advise and read my post man….
And you were talking to me or you would not have quoted my original post.

Why do some folks always have to be negative towards others? If you don’t like it be polite and say nothing.
So just because I find the item weird (too bright textures) that makes me “not polite” and I should not share my opinion because I do not agree with the majority? That’s sad. I was not negative “towards others”, I did not say anything rude, I even said that some people will like it. Not sure how that makes me “not polite” but okay… : /
If you don’t have something nice to say the say nothing. Why take every chance to be negative?
And how did you know I meant you I didn’t quote you, you know you were being negative that’s how. Just try to treat others with respect and who knows maybe they will do the same for you in return.
I really don’t enjoy crafting in MMOs but I recently crafted Ascended gear for my Necro main (took me years to gain motivation to do that). It was a frustrating experience and I’m glad I’m a mainoholic because I don’t ever want to craft again. :P
I have to agree with you, in my opinion Crafting is just to over the top in expense and time. I would rather play the Open World aspect of the game than to stand in front of a crafting station.
Why do some folks always have to be negative towards others? If you don’t like it be polite and say nothing.
Rose I think your gloves look awesome!!!!
Mesmer vs Warrior - Solo & Casual Play
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lite Ning Strike.5203
Hey all,
I have an 80 Warrior and, regardless of build, it just feels slow and clunky. I also just get destroyed everywhere I go in HoT, but I think I’m just not playing well. I have a Mesmer that I am working on and was just curious which of the two you all felt was more suited for solo and casual play. The Mesmer is not yet 80, so I’m not sure if the durability via illusions is still applicable in HoT content.
Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!
Love my Mesmers (notice there is an S in there lol) this is my favorite class. Yes you can rock the world using illusions and Wells. Until you get Chronomancer skills (you can select addidional speed with the Chrono setup) I always use the Superior Rune of the Traveler for speed.
Also when selecting traits have illusions appear when you dodge. This gives tons of illusions. I tend to use the GreatSword in my main for distance but when it gets close and personal I use One handed Sword and Shield (chrono only select something else for off hand until you open chrono, just find what you like).
I also have 2 warriors and for me personally, they are just meh (again my opinion only no offense to warriors).
Good luck with what you decide.
I know we get 5 gold after doing 8 paths of different dungeons but I do wish the payout for each run would have gone back to one gold, it still sometimes hard to get others to see the big picture (5 gold 150 dungeon tokens of your choice). Please consider making each path 1 gold again plus the 5 it would sure help convince others to join.
Thanks!!
They don’t have to see the big picture. Your completions are tracked for you, and it’s not a daily. You could do 2 on saturday and one every other day of the week and after the 8th path you’re still getting the 5 gold and tokens.
The way the tokens are laid out is kind of clever. it means if you can’t find people to do your preferred path, you can do their preferred path and still come out the end with whatever skin you were after.
That said, keep in mind that this change was there to ensure dungeons are a nice companion to fractals, not a replacement. Fractals are still their focus on 5 man content, they just realized that there’s not much of a point having completely dead content in the game, and that spreading people around to different paths results in more players doing every path.
With the old rewards, only a handful of paths/fractals were done because there was no incentive to try new things. With the new ones, unless you run with the same group every session, it’s highly likely that you’re going to find a lot of players doing a larger selection of paths because they can’t just hammer away at the same 3 runs every day.
I know you can do the reward track of 8 in 20 days if you want I would like to see the reward for individual paths increased. I had a few Guildies run Dungeons with me the other day and almost everyone was bummed by the low reward, they were all under the impression the end reward would return to 1 gold like it was pre-HoT.
And yes I run Fractals daily as well but what does that have to do with the fact I asked them to re-visit the payout for Dungeons? I have several wanting me to help them with their Dungeon Master title (yes I have the title) but then they get bummed with lack of drops. That’s all I asked is a little extra incentive for folks.
And the big thing I have against your statement is ArenaNet is trying to “force” people to do other things. I hate to tell you Pope but that wasn’t what the game was built on, it was play your way. If it wasn’t broke don’t fix it and Dungeons were fine before HoT came out with their 1 gold reward system.

The main thing I would like to see is for them to make Mastery Points something you could do solo instead of having to be in a group because they are gated behind some event.
Just because someones schedule doesn’t allow them to be on when the main groups are running should not exclude them from achieving the same results.
Otherwise I agree with large events requiring groups and no being a one or two man show (or lady )
Anyone who knows anything about public relations knows how it works in the real world. We call it damage control. And given how things went recently, ANet certainly doesn’t want to add fuel to the fire.
So they had a ‘parting of the ways’ as they say. I know because I did this last week. Terminated a contract with a client. We both said publically that he decided to pursue other interests at this time. And I wished him the best of luck.
Sound familiar?
Again, no, it’s not concrete evidence, but those of us with common sense can read between the lines.
It is what it is, and that’s the last I’ll say about that. We’ve derailed the thread enough.
So let me try to put it back on track: With the recent patch, things are much better in the Deep Jungle to include Dragon Stand. Better loot drops and the like. And with the daily win reward there, hopefully more interest will be included too.
Dang man how do I give you a standing Ovation with an avitar, lol.
I agree I haven’t had time to try DS yet but my open world experiences so far have been great. My Guildies and I are already making plans to try the DS Meta this weekend.
I think the idea is because they are account upgrades, and you don’t always know if someone has maxed them out. if they have, then the person has a useless gift that they can’t return, or do anything with.
bag slots are not an account upgrade, but a character one. with the amount of characters that can be created, maxing bag slots across all of them would be a feat in itself, and less likely to happen. plus characters can be deleted, so more openings for bag slots, if that ever happens.
edit: if you want to gift your friend a character slot, you could always send them gold that they can exchange for one.
Is there a limit to character slots? I ask because I have never heard of any limits and I currently have 24 slots with 23 current toons (1 empty atm). Thanks!!
At least publicly, Colin wasn’t fired. There was an statement from himself explaining that. If you don’t want to believe what he said, well, that’s another problem.
Actually not a problem, game is struggling under Colin’s rule, he suddenly says I’m leaving to fulfill my dreams. New man steps in starts addressing age old issues, fixes many in a few months. Listens (obviously) to what the players are saying. Doesn’t implement everything asked for (who could) but makes leaps and bounds.
Do the math and stop being a sheep (lol coin off my signature not being a smart alec)
Ya know, I’m happy for the most part with the patch…but I’m not gonna pat somebody on the back that let their house keep burning while they insisted it was fine.
As far as my reading comprehension skills go, “We are going to fix this and that because it’s not in line with how we envisioned GW2” does not equal “Everything’s fine, guys!”. They very much deserve a pat on the back for recognizing/picking up problems pointed out to them and fixing them, and even fixing some longstanding issues.
The only thing I’m a bit bummed about is that they changed nothing about the ratio of piles of flax seeds to vials of linseed oil. I’m hoping they’ll still change that at some point in the future. Otherwise this patch puts a big smile on my face, a sentiment shared by my guild mates so far (so it’s not just an individual opinion).
They never really acknowledged these problems until recently and only after they saw that HoT was underperforming. I’ll agree this is a good change and I’d come back and play if other games weren’t holding my interest right now, but I’m sticking to what I said. This is the kind of thing they should’ve done or started looking into maybe a month after hot released, he’ll I’ll give them two months even, I’m feeling generous. Not half a year later.
By all means, be happy, but don’t forget we only got this because it started affecting their pocketbooks.
I have to ask if you are playing other games that have your interest so you are not coming back, why do you bother to post? Not being sarcastic or a smart elec but when I lose interest in things I don’t re-vist.
Nah, good question. Thing is I do enjoy and love Gw2 and I wanna get back into it. Just a lot of Anet’s decisions and designs kittened me off and pushed me away from the game. By biggest underlying complaint was that I was not being rewarded for my time playing the game, nor did I feel like I was making any meaningful progress on any of my goals, those being ascended armor and legendaries. Everything I wanted was placed behind a Timegated grind so I just quit.
Gotcha well if you haven’t tried since the update patch I really think they are moving in the right direction. Give it a try (again you may have already) but as for me I was real excited/happy with what I saw in the game in the first 30-45 minutes I jumped back into the map (Auric Basin)…
Take care!!
I think Vayne got his source from the same place people get their numbers for “a majority of people are leaving”, “HoT has disappointed a large portion of the community”, and other post claiming that large portions of the community are disappointed/frustrated with something.
You can’t have it both ways, you know.
But, since you don’t like current opinion on the forums as proof, I can provide reviews, YouTube videos, and other media with our former peers’ reasonings for leaving to play something else if you like?
That said, not too many MMOs go free-to-play when they’re bursting with population, sales and success either.
Just saying.
Oh you mean reviews like this
http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/guild-wars-2-heart-of-thornsor this
http://www.tentonhammer.com/articles/guild-wars-2-reviewor youtube videos like this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u86rFkmmUwkwith all of those links being majority positive with some negative.
I can continue to provide more links but I think this is sufficient. While I more inclined to believe reviews done by big name companies, youtubers mean nothing to me because you can find videos of people either praising or bashing the game, just depends on where you look. As for our “peers” reasons for leaving, well lets just say after the claims were made that Wildstar was going to kill this game, I’ve stopped listening to our “peers” as a form of reasonable opinion. And don’t get me started on our “peers” reading comprehension.
Also many MMOs that go free to play are followed by both an increase and stabilization of the population which is never a bad thing. Even the gw2 pop went up after it went free to play.
Just saying.
Yes, because the game director leaves a very successful game the same year he releases the game’s first expansion because it’s such a success. Not to mention the CEO having to take over and look for a new person to fill the slot in the interim and then announciing the gutting of future legendaries to focus on Living World and the upcoming expansion. All the while people all over the web, in majority, say they are leaving or less than happy with the game.
But nooooo . . . the game is just fine.
Really?
We’re seriously having this discussion? I may not be Sherlock, but I know clues when I see them. I suggest you come out of the sand and do the same.
By the way, repeating my last line, in an attempt to be cute or clever? It doesn’t work. In debating circles, we call that parroting. It means you cannot come up with anything substantial of your own, recognize someone else’s words are better, and then attempt to use it against them in some attempt at one-upmanship.
Most recognize this for what it is: one who uses this tactic ignores the fact that their arguments have been falsified (usually over and over), and hope that their audience is unaware.
Sadly, for you, I am aware.
Might want to brush up on that if you want me to take you seriously . . . which quite frankly hasn’t happened so far.
But in case it’s TLDR, the picture below sums up what I think of your counterpoints so far:
People leave jobs all the time. Look up sea change.
I left a job I was working at for 13 years to write full time. It wasn’t because I couldn’t do the job. It wasn’t because the business was suffering.
It was because I was burned out. Colin wasn’t fired, he left to take a job closer to home. I’m not sure why you think that’s evidence of anything.
Uh Mr Writer you may want to re-vist the “Colin wasn’t fired” statement because you really don’t know. I think he was canned because the game has taken a turn in a different direction.
Notice I said “I think” because I don’t know for sure either but that is my opinion.
Ya know, I’m happy for the most part with the patch…but I’m not gonna pat somebody on the back that let their house keep burning while they insisted it was fine.

I did not put ‘Kitten’ in my post!
LOL you were sensored
I have as well played the game from the very start. Lost money, gained money, I don’t care, but with such major change as to this, I feel robbed. It’s not just a few thousand gold we are talking about here.
I have invested a lot as well, and when they announced they were adjusting me and my entire guild scaled back awaiting the result.
I have an idea if you don’t want the 2 gold delete it or donate it to your guild.
I guess the OP should have started with “Back in the day”………. If you don’t want to use it don’t but please quit whining.
Key word here is Choices……
And I guess that means for those who bought GW2 3-4 years ago should get a refund for the price difference? And those that bought Gem Store items should get a refund when items go on sale? I’m just gonna disagree (not sling insults) with the OP, I see no need to visit this………
I think it is an awesome gesture from ANet. The free shared slot, the teles to a friend, the dyes, the booster. I see this is a way of extending the olive branch and saying we are making a strong effort to mend fences that may have gotten a little worn.
If you don’t want to use the level 80 boost then by all means don’t. I will never understand the crowd that get’s mad because someone doesn’t have to do something the same way they did 4 years ago.
I have 23 Characters, all level 80 and leveled mapping and doing events. 16 have 100% map completion that I did because I wanted to, my choice. I have no issue with someone being given the opportunity to go straight to 80 if they want.
Let me just say Thank You ArenaNet and the Guild Wars 2 team for not only the update but also showing you are again starting to listen to your player base.
And to everyone else have fun I’ll see you in the game!!!!
I swear, people will complain about anything. If it’s not using the official forums enough, then it’s using reddit too much or time zones or someat other malarkey that just sounds really argumentative.
Get some perspective people:
*Yes it sucks that the devs live and work in the US and keep with US time zones for stuff like this but it’s be even more inconvenient to shift sleep schedules and life commitments just so one other time zone can feel included (while excluding other time zones).
*Yeah, it’s a bit annoying that the chat won’t be on the official forums but have you tried having decent chats on this one? It gets messy and clunky and it’s overall slow.
*Why even have these forums? Why not just reddit? Have you seen the complaints? Some people don’t like reddit!
*Yeah, reddit is tough to get used to but when you’re Q&Aing, it’s far more clearer what is being discussed and who is being addressed without all the clunky forum bugs and inefficient tools here. That all said, you’re not the center of the universe. Other people get shafted with any decision or action, just not everyone is going to be that guy that complains about what is essentially how the world works.
(Sorry can’t resist) Says the person complaining about people complaining lol
… every time population seems to go down.
I see it as a good way to get more people back to the game by inviting new people.
What do you think? A good idea or bad idea?
That only works in Sub-based games, not B2P ones. Remember you pay once. Having a sale on that won’t bring anything good.
Might convert several free to play players to buy to play players…
I haven’t made a legendary because the process would make the game feel like work to me. My RL working allows me to afford games, it’s not for creating me more work.
~EW
LOL I love this you my friend deserve a standing ovation!!!!
Hmm. I never use the ‘right-click to sell’ feature; I always open the Trading Post window to sell. Maybe that’s the difference. /shrug
No, unfortunately. I use the trading post window, and I get this all the time.
Me too and it is super annoying.
Am I the only one hoping Fractal Changes either remove completely the Agony mechanic or make Ascended gear less of a grind?
Yeah I have always hated the agony crap myself.
I agree with almost everyone, it is not worth the grind or expense. I prefer playing the game instead of playing the trading post or grinding for specific mats.
This is from someone who started with GW1 played Beta for GW2 and HoT and has 23 level 80 toons and 16 with full map completion.
I play dungeons (have the DM Title from playing not buying paths) Do Fractals a little (personal level 24).
My account has over 4200 hours played last time I looked.
Yes, I do refuse to change my stand because I realize for me, HoT still gives the value for money I spent on it, even if they don’t deliver every bit of content they promised. In fact, I think it delivers more than the $50 I spent on the expansion, so a few undelivered here or there doesn’t matter to me.
I get it matters to others; that’s not my problem here. The egregious part of this thread to me is the insistence on a refund, especially when full refund is being demanded. Also the instance by some that Anet did this because of malicious intent; that’s just stupid.
I must have missed the part where you said you were debating the refund aspect, I was referring to the lack of delivering what they promised.
As for you feeling you got your moneys worth I congratulate you on feeling this way. I feel neither cheated or fulfilled, I’m still waiting to see what the April update brings.
My biggest complaint (like I said Legendary’s are not an issue for me) would be the technical issues. The lost connections constantly with no feedback since HoT released.
I couldn’t say how many lost connections I have had in the middle and towards the end of event (All areas PvP as well as PvE) where the reward was lost. I know its just a few pixels on a screen but there if we are going to refer to that then $50.00 for lost pixels is too much.
I don’t think that’s a valid comparison. Anet did not specify how many Legendaries and when, unlike the car that comes with a 4 Cly when I expected 8
How is it not valid, they delivered a few new legendary’s just not all 16. I think you do understand you just refuse to change your stand, and that is your choice. Be good and have a Great Day!!
If you’re arguing against those who hold that anet was wrong to choose to not deliver what they advertised, then you’re arguing in favor of anet not delivering what they advertise. You are, in essence, arguing in favor of anet not delivering what YOU pay for someday.
Why would you do that?
Because the content is worth paying for. I recognize that I didn’t ONLY pay for one singular feature when I got HoT.
That doesn’t answer the question I asked, but whatever. No, you didn’t pay for one singular feature, you paid for ALL OF IT. Which is precisely what you didn’t get.
Of course it does … it’s content worth paying for. Even if I didn’t get all of it. I don’t worry about counting beans.
I understand your point Obtena but I think what she/he was saying might be better describe by something like “If you bought a car and it and you paid for a high performance V8 engine would you still be happy if it had the standard 4 cylinder on delivery”?
I personally don’t care about them dropping the new Legendaries but others do and their argument is valid.
If valuable loot were to drop more frequently for you, it would in all likelihood have to drop more frequently in general. Such drops would then stop being quite so valuable.
We should remove loot all together, because it’ll eventually lose value.
0.o.
It’s a pretty lame criticism, because other more loot RPGs manage to achieve a higher balance between making the character feel rewarded from loot drops with the inevitability of characters grinding out the system.
But, that balance doesn’t even come close to existing in GW2. They have had the right item at some points with the introduction of standalone armor and weapons.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_named_weapons
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_standalone_armor
But the items on this list are mostly acquired via…
- Gem Store (biggest culprit of them all)
- Previous Living World Seasons (N/A)
- Festival Events (N/A)
- Material Intense Crafting Recipes
- Mystic Forge Recipes (Either Material Intensive or Mystic Coin Intensive)
The remainder that do actually drop are isolated to specific areas and with a very, very very low drop chance. They aren’t part of the universal loot tables.
Just because the game has horizontal progression doesn’t mean that it can’t have rewarding loot. Unique named items and armor with an unique skin can be perceived as valuable for applying an unique look to your character. The cosmetic aspect of the game has always been cited as GW2’s reward system.
However, the aspect that they base their rewards on is also the aspect that they make money on, which is why the ratio of cosmetic skins being produced for the gem store exceeds what is produced in the game.
And loot is in a current state where it’s a bunch of garbage that piles up in your bags to salvage for crafting materials. Crafting materials, mind you, that now lack a lot of value, since they are no longer supporting legendary weapons.
The sad thing is they don’t have to make a ton of new skins if they wanted to overhaul the loot system. They already have a ton of available options in the lists in the two links I have provided that players just don’t get, because of how they have to be acquired.
If you took all the current named weapons and all the old unique armor items from the old Living Season rewards, repurposed them to drop universally, made them account bound so the skins cant be acquired off the trading post and altered their drop rates so it was probable for a player with average magic find to get one once every 3-4 days, you would add an element of looting of “Ahh, that’s cool” that wouldn’t be exhausted quickly just due to the volume of items that already exist.
So many cool weapon skins on that list that either have incredibly low drop rates and are targeted to very specific chests or bags or cost something like 50 mystic coins and 250 of a T6 material to make (which they aren’t that cool to spend that amount on).
Wasted potential.

THIS
SO MUCH THIS!
This poster above nailed it.
Loot has to be rewarding! I don’t feel rewarded grinding a few thousand hours for items that I break and sell the mats worth a few bronze or silver coins.
I feel rewarded when I find drops worth 100s or 1000s of gold! This is where GW2 really disappointed me.
The rewarding loots drop so rarely! You just… don’t get it do you?
In order for something to be worth 100s or 1000s of gold it has to be an extremely rare drop. Otherwise it wouldn’t be worth that price.
It’s simple supply and demand, if the items dropped on a semi-regular basis then they wouldn’t have nearly the value that they do now.
This economics 101.
Actually if a Vendor will pay 100’s or 1000’s for something the value stays high and folks either pay the same value on the TP or it goes to a vendor and out of circulation.
I would like to see the drops increase as well only I would like to see things like Ascended or Legendary items drop randomly, and I don’t mean .0000001 percent chance either.
Give the chance to play for drops to build your characters, is that not a good option for the play as you want? Don’t make folks that hate crafting craft, don’t make folks grind for gold to get upper tier items, just play the game.
Let them drop in any area and for any thing not just Raids, Fractals, Dungeons, or events.
If a vendor pays hundreds or thousands of gold for something that is not rare, that drops frequently, then the supply of gold goes way up and gold loses purchasing power. You und up receiving a thousand gold for your item but that gold may have no more buying power than the silver you used to get.
But add the Ascended and Legendary to drops and this is a mute point regarding economics. So yes items can still be sold and bought but they can also be gotten by a drop. The whole statement was what I was adding not just the gold value.
Ive already read negative feedback about HoT at amazon highliting this as a reason. Colin Has to be grinning.
Why would he be grinning, would you be grinning if you got fired?
You can get the non-shattered Holographic Dragon Wings from Sonder the Seller, but he wants Jorbreakers, which are nearly 2-3g each, since they can only be bought for 1,000 Zhaitaffy, a candy that hasn’t dropped since Dragon Bash. The non-shattered wings can be bought for 140g on the TP, so there’s really no reason to ever use Sonder for them.
Holographic Shattered Dragon Wings, on the other hand, were only ever obtainable from doing Dragon Bash achievements. They can’t be traded.
Gotcha thanks I didn’t know what the difference was (or even that there was a difference).
I think it would be a mistake to put the holographic shattered wings in the gem store. It’s cool if they make gem store items drop in-game for an event, but putting event or achievement items in the gem store has a way of cheapening them. Cue riots.
I’d love to see Dragonbash return, now that we’ve fought Mordremoth. They could have a new set of green wings, and I think that would please a lot of people.
Correct me if I’m wrong but can’t you get the wings from a Vendor for so much candy corn? I have a set in my bank I never used, they really don’t appeal to me that much. I actually had 2 pair and gave one to a friend.

It seems ANET wanted to try to be like other mmo’s with certain things that were done in HoT.
1- Bizarre one way to acquire gear acquisition. Some are achieves, some are raids etc. One things for sure; laurels for loyalty became less interesting to them. There’s no need to force people into the hardest endgame content for things everyone uses. Percentage of people who raid regularly will always be a minority.
2- Mastery….gates behind gates, behind gates. Once again, one path to success for mastery achieves. Not everyone likes your adventures:P. Keep it simple stupid is how gw2 started and it worked for them.
3- Making promises you can’t keep- Legendary’s, new fractals, bug fixes for essential items like LFG taking forever (still have to post twice to get a new description to work in fractals after someone leaves, and usually someone has already joined by that time and have to explain what lv.s are actually being done). but bug fixes have always been an issue for anet though ….I digress.
Since the release of Hot those have been the glaring ones for me anyways. I don’t pvp in this game so I have no Idea what that community thinks.
As a side note: I hope the legendary team wasn’t just pulled simply to work on the next money maker expansion (if they don’t fix issues here first, they’ll just find many people unwilling to even buy it).
Just so this post isn’t all Debbie Downer, I’ll say I think ANET did a superb job on making Hot zone maps fun to explore and I still enjoy the events and meta’s on several of the maps. I think that the concept of mastery’s was and still is a good implementation with perhaps some tweaks needed. This is the most artistically creative mmo I’ve played.
Oh man I was with you there until that last paragraph where you went all “Rainbows, Unicorns and lolipops” on it lol
Mine is in the future, the day our Guild Hall no longer needs the potions for upgrades, then I can quit going over there lol……
DC severly limiting progress in HoT maps

64 client solved most of my dc issues. Knock on wood, have only had a couple dc’s since changing up months ago. And the couple I have had, have been actual server crashes.
Yeah I been running 64 bit client since beta release, I think what I experienced was a glitch or maybe someone working on the server, especially since the friends I was referring to also dropped connection while running the 64 bit client as well.
