has anyone submitted a bug report? If not how can they fix what they do not know about?
Or post on Reddit they respond there instead of here. Makes no sense but I have experienced this personally.
I just wish they would slow down the re-spawn rate. I hate taking something out and I work into an area only to have them re-spawn behind me shortly after I kill them off. Would be nice to go into the Centar camp and actually pick stuff off and try to work the area solo without killing 1 re-spawning 2 going on…..
That would increase the fun factor then let them re-spawn after the camp is cleared. Just my thought!!
I like the HoT maps for the most part (Don’t care at all for Tangled Depths but I guess 3 out of 4 maps liked is a good number) but really dislike the fact they chose to put some Masteries behind mini games. If I wanted to play a mini game I would download it to my phone.
If you are not yet familiar with the Masteries they are additional points you get to gain more high level skills such as Gliding, Mushroom jumping, etc.
Tossing this one in for the thousand and first time…

This would be awesome, most games allow you to pick your server anyway…….. Kinda like GW1 did………………..
Anyone else wonder why we still have achievements tied to winning and losing of events? This occurred doing the Saidra’s Haven event, there were some screaming in chat and whispering others to either win and others to allow it to fail.
Did ArenaNet not learn this creates toxic interactions among players?
I can only say Bad Job on this one ArenaNet….

3 is easy; just place a bid at that price.
You can’t place a bid on Gem store items only Black Lion Trading Post items.
I actually liked the salvageable items from the new maps gotten as event rewards. Why ANet didn’t just fix the salvage rates for kitten leather from those and tone down the hardened leather resources needed to craft things is beyond me.
The fix, in my eyes and with my limited information, was simple; adjust the salvage rates and crafting needs to find a happy medium.
Why do it the easy way? This patch makes me wonder if Colin came back to anet
LOL I made the same comment on day one to my Guildies. Welcome back Colin!!!!
Let me start off by saying that I didn’t get to do much of the Lost Shores story content (too busy getting that backpack) so I really didn’t get to experience Canach’s introduction.
It seemed like for so long, he was all, “Repaying for my sins through subservience,” and “I refuse to live a slave with villainy but a slave for redemption” mumbo jumbo stuff. Now? In this final part of chapter 4 LS3, it’s like every time he has something to say, it’s gotta be full of sass. I really like it, and I’m just wondering what everyone else’s thoughts on this shift of behavior.
Posted on Reddit, Canach’s dialogue(obviously spoilers)
I can’t say I just started liking him I have always loved his dry sense of humor, in fact my Guildies always know when Canach is part of a story I’m gonna say “He is my Favorite Character” lol.
Edit: Typo
Oh I am pretty sure they cause anxiety as well. It was daily camp the other day and I killed this guy taking a camp easy. Like killing a level 40 upscale or something.
After he whispered a lenghty line involving about 10 different kittens and how I ruined his daily.
Stuff like that makes WvW worth playing.
People like you are part of the reason people avoid the Toxic wastelands known as WvW and PvE.
Ummm… Dawdler’s “crime” is that he was actually playing WvW as the mode is intended to be played.
He came across an enemy player trying to capture one of his world’s camps and killed him, defending his world’s camp. Then the person that he killed sent him an abusive whisper.
Nothing Dawdler did was wrong and he continues to get abuse over it.
I can’t (and won’t) try to speak for Lite Ning here, but I will say this…
It wasn’t that Dawdler killed an enemy player in a PvP environment. Defending your servers camp is what you are supposed to do there.
It’s the fact that he, apparently, took obscene joy in crushing someone that clearly wasn’t at his level…
It’s all about that player attitude again.
A chest-thumping sore winner is no better then an angry sore loser
Exactly, thank God someone can read and comprehend all at once.
For me it’s a physical reaction. My body can’t take it with my condition. The last time I had to PvP for my guild (there were only a handful of us on, and we needed this one PvP mission to level up the guild and they begged me to join them) I came away with fast breathing and shaking hands. I thought I was having another crisis.
Years ago I played other games where you shoot each other down in airplanes with no problems. Now, my body rejects it all.
Don’t get old kids!
Glad I’m not the only one >_< When I’m fighting against another player my anxiety causes me to shake and lose focus, and ingame it looks like I’ve no idea what I’m doing. Sometimes it gets so bad I have to turn off the game and do something else. Having to wvw for my gift of battle is pure torture right now…
Just do the non competitive WvW dailies. Takes a bit longer but you will get there without as much anxiety.

Things that need to NOT be on next exp.
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lite Ning Strike.5203
This would be true if the HoT maps are empty. They’re not. I’m on HoT maps almost every day virtually all day. They’re pretty busy most of the time.
The exception is Dragon Stand which is pretty busy when the meta is up.
It’s nice that you know how to taxi. Not everyone will. It’s nice that you looked at a 3rd party timer to know when the optimum times to taxi are. Not everyone will. It’s nice that you can play so much, which allows you to make yourself available at the right times to accommodate your activities to the timers. Not everyone can. It’s nice that you always get into the populated map. Not everyone does. It’s nice that you have a large guild to play with failing everything else. That won’t be true for everyone, either.
The truth is that you have a better experience than some for those reasons. The fact of the matter is that the core game’s maps are friendlier to players who don’t have tons of time, who just want to drop into the game when their lives allow and get some stuff done than the HoT maps. The fact that you have an enjoyable experience does not make it a slam dunk that everyone is going to.
Actually I almost never do metas on HoT maps and I almost never use LFG and they’re still not empty. I meant what I said. HoT maps simply aren’t as empty as many people are making them out to be. The population is simply more spread out.
Sure, when I do a meta, I do look in LFG tool., That’s true. But 90% of the time I’m on HoT maps, I’m just doing events or completion. For example,. I’ve completed VB on over 20 characters and AB on 15 characters. Now I’m doing the same with TD.
I don’t use LFG and there are still plenty of people on those maps.
Now admittedly I do use map chat to tell people I’m about to do a hero point,. but those events are being called out on map chat all the time.
People really do need to start using map chat to get people to come.
If you have a mentor tag, pop it, say the name of the tag and post the nearest landmark to it. If it’s complicated to get to, say something.
Hi I’m about to do the Tengu hero point. It’s north of Eastwatch Waypoint (link) up the jumping mushrooms.
It takes about two minutes to finish that (even though I have soloed it on a necro).
And that’s without using LFG.
I’ll agree that people don’t use map chat. I can wander around a HoT map for an hour or more and see nothing at all in chat. Then again, I can, in a space of a quarter hour be asked to leave a closing map three times. That’s either people taxiing, going to a map they find more fun, or logging off.
It’s like any map with a meta though. You go to the fire ele, if you do the fire ele and stay on the map after everyone’s left, they need to consolidate maps, because all the maps are closing. That’s normal for every zone in this game with a world boss.
Do Teq and stay in Sparkfly and you get the same effect.
Except I see HoT maps closing in the middle of metas, not at the end. I don’t see that in Metrica or Sparkfly. This probably has to do with the length of the disparate content.
Yeah, I see that too…when I’m on a map that isn’t currently working toward the meta. It happens because other players left a non-meta map for a meta map. Big surprise, right?
Not a surprise to me. Maybe to Vayne, who never apparently sees an empty map unless a meta just ended.
I agree with you totally, myself and my entire Guild often see map closings, low population on HoT maps and have to change maps in the Guild Hall. What the heck is this all about?
If you want the Masteries you’ll still have to get them through HoT, they did crank it down slightly last April ( I believe that was the patch) but it still has multiple roaming high level NPC enemies. For what it’s worth I wasn’t a fan of HoT in the beginning and still don’t spend a lot of time there but it is more tolerable from that perspective. I would say give it a try (you already bought so what do you have to lose). I will say I like running Verdant Brink Meta when you find a group and Dragon Stand. They can be a pain with having to use Looking for Group (LFG) but it is what it is.
Big thing I would suggest is don’t stress over getting from point A to B but instead enjoy the ride in between……..
Good luck Jax!!
NOTE: Fixed typo
(edited by Lite Ning Strike.5203)
Its a balance decision to root the player when they use what are supposed to be powerful skills. It currently feels outdated in the game because HoT intoduced a lot of powercreep, and now some of the skills that root you no longer seem as powerful as they used to.
Exactly!!
Of course some of those skills (like abovementioned Hundred Blades and Meteor Shower) would need to get nerfed to compensate.
The end results may be really underwhelming.
Why Meteor shower is easily moved beyond so the damage would still be minimal it would just allow the Ele to keep moving while casting, so I really see no reason to reduce damage.
It is 17 I have 17 currently
i as good as never use Barrage (ranger longbow 5) cos it gets canceled when i move during combat.
So, i dunno, perhaps some of those skills could be altered imo.
Agree and Meteor Shower, they make light and medium armor characters sitting ducks.

Also, I never played GW1 but I thought if your GW1 account is linked with your GW2 account then the login becomes the same as what you use for GW2.
You are correct, my GW1 and GW2 logins are the same……
I wouldn’t be happy with those drops.
nailed it
Prime reason why I don’t buy keys.
I usually go to Target, Best Buy, or Wal-Mart and buy the Gem cards. For some reason when you buy from one of these you don’t pay tax, whereas if you buy online from the Gem store they add tax. I never have been able to understand why…
And then when you have the skin on your back, as well as the actual shield, you draw your weapons and are now holding the shield while still wearing it?
I can see people wanting the option even when they can’t wear shields on their profession, though I personally do not, I like seeing my character’s armor rather than a large disk. But I can also see a lot of potential problems such as the one above, and perhaps in PvP making others think you are using a shield only then you pull out another weapon set entirely.
Actually you could use “if” statements (yes would required coding) so that “if” they are using a 2 handed weapon the Shield displays on the back as a back piece, “if” they are using a single handed weapon but do not have a shield in their off hand the shield displays, “if” they are using one handed weapons and the shield is in the off hand hide when it displays in hand.
Difficult? Maybe, doable Yes…….. Could it be done a different way? Heck I bet so this was just the one option that I am familiar with.
And I do like this idea as well…..
Ice encasement outfit is breathtaking!

It is really an amazing outfit and dyes beautifully.
I’m quite impressed
Insta gem buy for me!
Lol I have to agree, I went ahead and purchased the outfit last night and used my BL Tickets to add some of the Ice Weapons to match!!!
Yeah but in my case, I received some Gem Cards for Christmas. I loaded them into my account and they are all just sitting there. But ArenaNet on the other hand already has the money so they don’t care if I cash them in or not…..
Just because they have an ineffective Winter Holiday sale doesn’t mean they don’t care. They might have misjudged the climate for sales or failed to prepare in time.
Sad but true….. Kinda like the 6 Permanent Copper Salvage kits sitting in my bank, with the shared slots I don’t need them, can’t refund them, can’t sell them, and can’t even give them away………
And that’s been explained multiple times: few companies don’t offer even partial refunds months after a new, better product becomes available.
It really appears to me it is all about the money, they really have no sense of loyalty to their customers. Unfortunately it’s a business first and only……… Sad really sad.
That confused two completely different human “mechanics”:
- ANet is a business. It’s first goal always has to be about making enough money to keep on being a business.
- Loyalty to customers is a separate goal, that sometimes synergizes well with making money…and sometimes doesn’t. Very few businesses can afford to offer loyalty at the expense of otherwise sensible economic choices.
A business loyal to its customers can still make mistakes, can still offer bad or no options.
OK Ill
1 – I was making a statement in regards to there was nothing I wanted or priced as I may want in the trading post but they already have been paid. That’s it No more no less and you cannot argue with that fact.
2 – I have never heard anything about them addressing the issue with the salvage kits, (What did they say since you know it seems) how about putting something on the loading page when I open the game, I don’t have time to read every posting and site here (or more than likely) on Redditt.
3 – You are dead wrong customer loyalty goes hand in hand with business/brand loyalty. If a company stops working for the customer the customer will find someone else who will.
Edit: One other thing make the ability to trade, sell or whatever the multiple items bought from the Gem store optional. Heck I have 16 sets of permanent harvesting tools spread out through 23 characters but I will keep them all, because of the convenience factor. They take 3 slots in the shared inventory, and even though I have bought my max I still have other items I prefer to keep there.
I’ll step back from the podium, its your turn.
(edited by Lite Ning Strike.5203)
I was kind of hoping for more of a turn out this Wintersday sale, but ..its just a festive mini Aurene (Milking it much?) , some items didn’t even make a return. Really hoping next weeks beats out the last two weeks, gemstore wise at least.
Thoughts?
Also Merry Christmas everyone and a happy new year~!
Sales are not the only /fail this year. The ongoing nerf to the gifts hit hard, as did the dramatic drop of the flakes (with some kinds completely fading away).
Seems that all this game is now is an insane grind to get even the smallest of completely underwhelming rewards (unlit, tiny guild hall xmas tree, I am looking at you), and/or a race to do so before they nerf it even worse.
Honestly, it’s pretty much just not worth bothering to play.
I agree with you Spook.5847, the game has become nothing but a grind. Do x number of jumping puzzles, drink x number of drinks…. What happened to the plan of not making you go kill x number of enemies to accomplish something from the original statement made when they were developing GW2?
Remember Colin saying “I swung a sword, I swung a sword again”? Yeah Colin is gone ( (I still say fired but that’s my opinion) they have lost, whether it be by accident or choice, their edge. Everything is now a grind not just some of it.
Sorry for the rant I just hate when I agree to something only to have someone else change the rules after the fact.

And does VB suck too…
Yes, but not as much and for different reasons.
And Vayne, take a step back and listen to yourself for a moment. You’re saying TD is ok once folks have had a couple of training sessions. When training is required for open world PVE you know that the devs got it very, very wrong. I know you love these maps and defend them to the hilt but open your eyes and look around once in a while mate!
Doc you nailed it, I have every other map completed in HoT except TD. I despise this map and its extreme navigation. I for one refuse to do a “training class” for something that is supposed to be a game I play to have fun, not get frustrated. (isn’t that what they created jumping puzzles for, the frustration aspect?)
I run Bitterfrost personally for the loot then anywhere besides TD for fun.
Why Dragon's Stand is permanently empty?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lite Ning Strike.5203
Actually, it is possible to join/rejoin a map if you are late or disconnected. Just join a friend who is on it and try to join tons and tons of times. In the end you are able to join (actually did that 2-3 times, it always worked).
But unfortunately this is a “work-around” for an issue that has been ongoing for over a year.
Why not simply make all way points open (after you discover just like the rest of the map) unless the event is going, then only open the way points that the groups have gotten to and re-opened?
That would allow travel around the map when the events are not going on. Just a thought…
Possible New Class/Special new weapon?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lite Ning Strike.5203
I would be more interested in getting a unique class like the ritualist from guild wars with weapon enchantments and spirits but we would need cantha for that and I guess anet abandoned it from the lore
You could get a type of brawler by adding monk to the game though, which could use fist weapons. But that adds the problem of having to add a new weapon type.
From the lore I’ve read, I thought I remember seeing it on the wiki, ritualists were burned at the stake after the new emperor unified Cantha. So ritualists went the route of dwarves in terms of scarcity.
Well they could bring back the Ritualist (I hope) after all the Mursaat were all gone as well, then along came Lazarus.
Speaking of Gem purchases, anyone know why when you buy Gems from the Black Lion TP they charge tax but I go to my local Target or Best Buy and they don’t charge taxes?
Confirmation for selling ascended stuff
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lite Ning Strike.5203
Ofcourse this happens to people, but there are failsafes already.
Please enlighten me – what failsafe does the game provide which prevents me from accidentally selling an ascended piece of equipment to a regular vendor? Buyback is a useful option if you actually see that you made a mistake but it becomes unavailable the moment you leave the map. What then?
I really do not understand how you can advocate a standpoint that absolutely doesn’t affect you in the slightest way. You say you never make those kind of mistakes, right? Then you are never ever going to see the dialog unless you are purposefully attempting to sell an ascended weapon to a vendor but even if you do decide to do it (although I don’t know why you would ever want to do it) you would be selling one-two weapons at most. How on Earth is that “too much clicking”?
It seems to me that you are basically reacting to a suggestion just for the kick of it not because it actually makes any sense. Either way I have presented my suggestion. It’s up to ANet do decide if it would benefit the players or not.
This could be done rather easy with a simple “if” statement. If it is Legendary or Ascended send the “are you sure” validation option. All others pass through.
How about allowing users to choose the voice for your character during the creation? Choose the voice you want for the Toon, can you image a Norn with a Sylvarin accent? lol
Why can’t I just magically rub Eir back to life, like I do with other players? Is she carrying a do-not-resurrect card?
lol I love this….
Yes Please!!
The use of mini-games , jumping puzzles as Gates to Mastery points , collection items is an absurd idea , and a VERRY irritating practice …what ever happened to good old action-adventure …. WE want to kill the Bad Guys , NOT wasting hours bouncing on mushrooms through checkpoints , or trying to balance on very tiny branch , plank to hopefully jump just right only to fall and try all over again … this type of " Platforming "
is fine for console players , a pain for PC players .. not to mention IT MAKES NO SENSE !!!….. Please Bring GW2 back the Action Adventure MMORPG we love , leave out these kitten annoying platforming mini-games that seam to only act as fillerWhich game are you talking about?
Jumping and traversing the terrain was always part of the game… from day 1.
There are even archievments for doing the jumping puzzles.I think you remember a complete different game
What he is talking about are the in game mini games in HoT. They are not jumping puzzles but instance games you have to score specific points for to earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold Awards. One such is Shooting Gallery. I hate them too so I usually ignore them.
Take care!!
I don’t mind mini games being in the game. I do mind the stand-in for leveling being gated by them. They ought to be rewarding enough with intrinsic rewards that people who like that type of thing feel rewarded for doing them.
This. Mastery points should have never been gated behind those types of games, nor should collections.
So true……
16 maps is a way too small sample. Combine this with the fact that people probably don’t come here to complain about getting more than 4 keys from 16 maps and you see how fruitless it is to discuss drop rates on the forum.
Then don’t discuss it….

I agree with you 100% I hate the chase for Masteries in their current state, it takes the fun out of the game. I also dislike the vertical caves in HoT. A game should not be made so difficult you have to rely on Videos or Manuals to resolve.
And for the stupid mini games they insert and require us to do to obtain Mastery Points in ludicrous. I would prefer the Masteries to all be open world content obtainable and nothing gated behind events.

How do you expect Arenanet to be able to tell what you paid?
Do as they have in the past if you did “X” before the release you get to keep “X” plus another. Anything after the “Update” only gets the new.
I agree with original Poster don’t penalize the players because they decided to change the rules in mid stream “Again”…..
or
Automatically update the new slot to the highest level Enrichment Slot.
Warning, it will depend on how long you’d used the extra items before the shared slots became available, and this much later odds are Support will deem that you got your intended use and benefit out of them and cannot be refunded.
If that be the case I guarantee they will not refund. Would be nice to allow trade in on other comparable priced items. I paid 800 Gems for each. Still use one plus the silver one so I’ve actually purchased 6 total…..
Oh well would be nice if they did do something to help players……
Contact Support and ask.
A lot of people asked when the shared slots first came out and based on posts on the forum responses were pretty random. Some people got refunds, others didn’t (as far as I know no one asked for an exchange). Some were told to buy the slots and/or delete the duplicate items first, others were told they should delete them after or could keep them. Some were told only certain items (mainly the Royal Terrace and Airship pass) could be refunded and others could not.
They may have sorted a consistent response out by now, but you’ll have to ask them to find out what that is.
Awesome definitely worth a try…
Thanks!!
I would like if ArenaNet would allow us to “Trade In” some of the old things we no longer need. I would love to be able to trade the 4 Permanent Copper Salvage kits I have for something else. For now all they do is sit in my bank taking up space. I have 14 shared slots so I really don’t need these now. Just a thought.
I’m not asking for a refund but allow us to trade in, no Gem or Gold transfer just trade.
Thanks!!
I really wouldn’t mind a guaranteed key for each 2 or 3 maps completed. Map completion can bore you to tears when you’ve done it 5+ times already.
Please Anet consider increasing the drop rate of keys for this. It gives a little incentive to push on while doing completion.
LOL I feel your pain, I have 23 toons 16 with Map completion working on #17… I never get Keys or anything worth having in drops..
If you ever do a search on the forums, you will notice countless topics and posts regarding guild hall a few months ago. What you suggested is already suggested and the pros/cons are also discussed in those topics. Do a search on it.
When I do a search for anything guild hall related, the only results that come up are from this thread and one about scribing mats. I’d write that off to how poorly the search function on these forums work, but the point remains.
In either case, just because it has been discussed before, that doesn’t mean some fresh ideas cannot be bought to the table.
I agree with you the forums search engine is bad. The dev too agree with you that the search engine is bad. The mod team too agrees with you that it is bad and even made a pinned thread about it. But, you could use other search engine like google’s.
Do keep in mind that I mentioned “What you suggested is already suggested and the pros/cons are also discussed in those topics.” What being discussed right now is just repeating the same thing what other’s have mentioned months ago, likewise the same arguments rephrased differently.
Also, there were tons of topics and pots about it, however, despite the many posts and arguments, nothing is conclusive and dev did not mention any plans to make any further changes to the costing to accommodate tiny guilds.
I would recommend not reading if there are to many posts of the same nature, then your problem will be resolved entirely.
I love the idea especially the added thought of “As live players join the NPC’s start to disappear” this would make it fun for everyone not just a few that get in at the right time. Set a specific number of live players and when that is obtained the NPC’s are gone.
I liked Old Lions Arch better but would settle for additional Waypoints added to simplify moving around.
I would even settle for being allowed to gift (no money, gold, or gems involved) to another player such as a friend or Guildy. I personally have no plan to move my tools to the shareable slots (got all 11 full already) but I do have like 5 extra copper salvaging tools and it sure would be nice to be able to share with someone!!!
I’m relatively sure there are more PvEer’s in this game than PvPer’s.
And if they made the changes you want, there wouldn’t be more people playing PvE. There’d be far less people playing PvE. That’s my opinion, anyway.
These games don’t get dumbed down because their player base goes down. They get dumbed down because their player base goes up…or they wouldn’t do it.
You may thing everyone wants the same things you want, but I’m relatively certain that’s not the case.
Well stated sir!! 100% agree
Now will my post amount to anything? No after all ArenaNet only reads posts that praise them or if they need to ban someone for calling out the White Knights who think everything is perfect. (Unicorns, Rainbows, and candy corn.) lol
White Knight =/= Anyone that disagrees with you.
There are always people on either side of an issue. Arbitrarily labeling those who you disagree with, and also happen to side with the developer, is wrong and has no revelency to the discussions. It’s the equivalent of the other side labeling those that they disagree with as crybabies who whine just to whine. Both instances of labeling are just as wrong and offer nothing to the discussion other than to create a toxic environment.
No sir White Knight=“Someone who thinks everything ArenaNet does is perfect and blasts anyone who says different”.
No believe it or not I don’t need a fan club I stated my opinion which is mine (how many times do I have to say in my opinion).
I like a lot of things ArenaNet does I just don’t agree with everything they do.
I agree with part of your response no need to label anyone or everyone as this or that just because they don’t share your/my opinion, however you did by assuming I meant anyone that did not agree with me. I referenced no one just made a general comment regarding the White Knights most who are on here and post regularily know who I’m referring too. Only you know if you fall into that category because to be honest I have never read anything you have posted before, at least nothing that left an impression.
I agree with this 100% I have no interest in doing their little side games (I know others like them I just do not) so that means I’m stuck at 110 for my masteries.
Why?
There are 66 Central Tyria points available and 139 Heart of Maguuma points available of which 30 are from Adventures.

So even without a single point from Adventures you aren’t stuck at 110.
No some of the others are gated behind events that I haven’t been fortunate enough to be able to get to. I personally don’t want to have to read Wiki to figure out how to play a game I play for enjoyment.
Having to read long instructions or research videos to complete is not my choice of play. You may enjoy it and I say more power to you, I prefer to be able to get the Masteries through map exploration and not in gated areas.
Is that OK with you? That was my opinion, I didn’t need to have you respond to me directly with your smart butt response.
NOTE: I have 23 Level 80 Toons and 16 have map completion can you match that?
Sounds like mindless slogging through core tyria and its netflixable content has rotted your brain a bit.
LOL…… Bless your heart………… From the Deep South to you!! If you don’t understand Google search Bless your heart.
