Initial thoughts on PvP thief build (cond).

Venoms are useless as usual. The fact that there are minions and illusions on the area makes it completely worthless, unless you’re using it for a single target. Even then, the CD is too long and useless. Unless all of the venoms are 20 seconds, the other utilities such kitten and blinding powder are more useful (restore init/HP/blinds if traited), while venoms does nothing more than its description.

Tried with new steal/daze combination, signet of malice heal, ROI, SR, caltrops

30/0/10/0/30 – Condition/power thief.
10/0/30/0/30 – Higher armor/condition thief.

Basically all the variations simply gets hit hard by necros. Admittedly, I know next to nothing to necro, but I feel there are 3 things that happened.

1) Got hit for 2-3k damage per attack.
2) 3-5 different conditions applied.
3) Got feared quite a number of times.

I had 18k HP, and I was under 7000 hp most of the time whenever I fight a group of 2-3 enemies (necros) for a point cap. SoM does reasonably okay if I can hit all of them, but half the time it doesn’t do anything because I kept getting feared/CC.

The condition build “3” spam doesn’t work well because it lacks CC clearance, has trouble hitting the enemies (esp crippled), and for some reason necros are like some hideous counter to thieves right now. I have been seeing a sudden increase on DPS warriors as well…

Not sure what other professions changes anet did, but Necro is completely out of control. One particular battle had 5 necros/8 players, and they got 500:200 score, with 2 of the necro players getting top scores, while the others placed 4th and 5th.

The DD condition build might work well in WvW though. I can imagine upleveled players coming in to complain (whine) about how D/D thieves are doing crazy amount of damage with xxx amount of evades…

I stopped watching the video as soon as I saw your explanation for pushing the slave driver against the wall. It’s not to make 100b easier it’s to benefit from the full dps of a whirlwind. And it’s better to use focus pull and have everyone already hugging the wall before the fight starts because he can leap on people who aren’t in melee range which can waste a cc and thus have him put defiant and not on a wall for the duration of the fight.

I think you have a problem reading properly… That’s —- > scootabuser’s < —- video, and my current name here is LoneWolfie, completely different letters. My video has not been edited at all.

Before you read the tips, you should read this first to get an overall feel as to who the run works.

My LFG thief video (because I’m the PUG player, and I’m not 100% glass cannon weapon user. – Valkyrie + PVT + 1 or 2 mixed ascended items, sigil of Air and force)

My thief build is 30/30/0/0/10, but 25/30/0/0/10 might be better at extra burst for heartseeker. I used 10% chance to go into quickness trait, but it might better to trait initiative regen from activating signets for extra heartseeker.

It just so happens I met a nice warrior who took out his longbow and cast

Tip 1: Getting 25 stacks of might with Combustive shot

Combine with my thief’s

As well as adding in

You can fill up your stacks of might to 25 at start of gate, slave driver, gate controller and boss.

Tip 2: Shadow shooting your way to the boss

After you’re done with gate controller, stop before the line where cutscene activates, and try to shoot as far as possible (maybe anet one day will nerf it or something? Hope not, I rather like the idea of setting up all the combos right in front of the boss), so that you run directly to the boss. I imagine that players with Teamspeak will inform the thief they are reaching in 2-3 seconds so the thief can stop watching the video and start preparing.

If you watch the video, you can see I was late in stopping the video.

My video runthrough

1) Prepares 25 stacks of might (with warrior’s combustive shot) with signet of inspiration (thereafter SOI) from mesmer at initial gate.
2) My thief attacks left turret, allies attack enemies. (Activates haste, Mug, CnD, Stab, attack, heartseeker below 50% at turret, switch to right turret if enemies are still alive)
3) Warrior prepares combustive shot at slave driver, everyone casts banners, for great justice, and I cast two cluster bombs. (Remember to use on my mark, if you see the video the slave driver didn’t start off with full vulnerability) Casts thieves guild. Heart seeker at 35% hp (cast signet).
4) Complete acolytes as usual.
5) Warrior casts combustive shot, gets a few extra stacks of might, mesmer casts SOI, 25 stacks of might, and warrior leaves a strength of banner before the gate controller.
6) Shadow shot your way through, prepare for boss.
7) Do your rotations, dodge crystals, shockwave (depends on your mesmer skills) and fire AOE (or cleanse it with healing and backstab, for full scholar runes benefit), heartseeker below 25% hp (with signet).

Finally, there are definitely faster runs than this video. This is not a competition, just a demonstration of certain tips.

Opened 10 rich coffers, 300 dragon coffers, and 0 weapon tickets. 3-4 minis, and the rest are candy + misc. I’m really sick of RNG. Why can’t I just get the ticket as per normal (rox shield etc).

If you could buy it straight out for a ton of gems to keep it prestigious, some would feel that is pay to win. Even though it is cosmetic, people would feel that those with much $$ in real life, or tons of gold in game would be the only ones able to get them. By making it a chance, those who are wealthy, those who are not, receive the same chances.

No, that’s not what I think. I think if I can get it as a cosmetic item from gem store, it feels like I’m supporting Anet monthly, instead of a money cash grab with RNG boxes. That’s what I think. I got 1 mini out of 10 rich coffers with some misc food and I was wondering why I supported Anet RNG boxes.

To be honest I have been QQing since the start of union waypoint nerf (found in DE section), but I think this fix is pretty well done. T6 Dust is hopefully going to be cheaper than 5s, which in turn make it sensible to ascend certain t6 mats, while keeping ectoplasm prices in check.

Players can finally breathe with relief for now, until Anet decides to review more T6 loot drop options from the 80s map, including the overall drops of T6 lodestones and kittens stones and shards, etc (which I hope comes from doing DEs)

+1 to colins for taking the users’ feedback.

PS: It’s kind of scary to think what will happen if Anet left this issue alone.

I’m just laughing when Vayne thinks it’s just some people talking, because the way I see it are some in-game traders who bought bulk and started selling recently, and contributed at least 50% of the initial increase of prices. And the prices didn’t go up because everyone was at southsun, it was because anet announced the closure of union waypoint farm, and traders pushing it up.

The minority is king here, and the majority is exploited.

I’m not sure what the TC wants. The first few months of GW2 were trying to find out all sorts of mystic recipes, new content runs, which land spawns what boss, biggest dynamic events people can run…

And it has to dry up one day. Once people learn there are no new content, they are running to the biggest reward, attempting to fill their toons with skins. Content dried up. All the casuals finally left, and what is left are the players you described. What else can I write?

It takes years to create something as big as GW2, and the best I can see, is a new expansion coming out that creates 50% new content that the TC desires. As far I can see, gw2 is young, and there are plenty of things the team is learning (with a lot of interference behind the scene, I’m sure.), but there is no going back to the state when gw2 was released.

Maybe one day their living story will be higher in quality and satisfy more people. Maybe.

I find it hilarious people are posting Economics 101 but forget about economic shortage, it’s fundamental to any in game economy and that’s exactly what people are describing in their posts in here. Taking a course in college doesn’t mean you understand the fundamentals and doesn’t wipe clean the slate of bad decisions we’ve seen in this game and others (remember D3?) over the past year. It also doesn’t change the fact that every time a nerf spot occurs the prices rise even without people being in these forums talking about said item. It doesn’t forgive how they claimed they liked legit farmers on their Reddit message telling people they’d adjust DR so that it wouldn’t affect legit farmers months ago, which still hasn’t happened. It doesn’t change the possibility of there being a Wi Flagged style algorithm bug in the system causing people to not only hit DR faster then others but also have it last long long after they’ve logged out and across multiple characters. There’s a reason why WoW has 8 million players still to this day, carrot on a stick, take that out and people will leave, they learned that early on.

If they had come clean prelaunch in their interviews and been honest with how they really felt about farmers, legit farmers, then they would have lost sales so basically what we’re seeing is an unethical system of advertisement, “play how you want, except in these instances,” we’ll change the entire game after launch so what you experienced at launch won’t be anything near what your friends experience months after your excitement ends. That’s what I’m saying. The problem isn’t just that there aren’t enough farming areas there’s this big hole where a rewards system should be, and the economy is based off the ancient poorly designed system (even then) of the 2004 RNG everything. Limit the resources in this way and people will leave. One can only imagine what will happen when games that don’t lean on a single currency for everything in a game launch this year. I’ll be watching.

There’s another area in SS cove where you can farm sharks, if indeed they nerf that one then my suspicions will be validated.

The problem is YOU think they’re bad decisions. People who think/play like you also think they’re bad decisions, but there are as many people, seemingly anyway, who don’t.

You claim I’m closed-minded and don’t listen to other people. Maybe you should turn your eye inward.

Shortages in the real world occur because real world manufacture takes time and natural resources are limited. In fact, in an online world, there’s no such thing as a shortage, unless the company wants there to be a shortage. If it gets so that there’s not enough, it’s easy enough for the company to add more.

Charged lodestones have always been in short supply. I’m relatively sure that Anet won’t allow that to happen to something like crystalline dust. There are probably tons of people hoarding it now, even more since threads like this have popped up.

We have a certain divide here. You give the picture that crystalline dust rising is the complete fault of players pushing it up, but in reality, it’s the poor handling of anet on crystalline dust supply, where there are

1) Southsun sardine train
2) Plinx, waypoint nerfs, spider hatchlings doesn’t give loot
3) Union waypoint complete removal of loot

It’s like insiders’ trading, where anet tells the TP-traders the removal of union waypoint (by patch notes) means there will be an instant supply disaster and it’s a great time to start buying up all the supply, meanwhile the ones who don’t play the TP wonder what’s going on and has to eat it up at >35 s.

So the minority wins while the majority loses. Whose fault is this? Players or anet who let this disaster happen? How did a shortage really happen anyway?

Please continue to post about something stupid about how “online worlds never having a shortage” when you have been insisting 99% of the population went to southsun cove and not “farming” in CS.

God, I swear I can’t believe how silly you are.

Edit: And when prices of t6 mats started going above 30 silvers, why the hell did Anet make 200% mf in southsun? Finally realising the impact of CS plinx/waypoint nerfs killing the mats supply? You really are oblivious…

I love the fact thakittens now turning into a crusade to shut Vayne up. Something something then they laugh at you something.

As for Anet’s ‘changing’ the loot system, I have an outstanding question as to whether or not the Magic / Gold Find NPCs will make their way across Tyria, but that remains to be seen.

More ancedotal evidence!

Meanwhile, prices have stabilized over the past week and sell listings are still higher than March and early May.

Well you see about that Vayne thing, he does spend all his time in the forums trying to debunk every major complaint out there about anything. He’s pretty much made a name for himself by denying every problem players face and trying to convince the world there’s nothing wrong with anything, the game has no issues according to Vayne.

Except for the RNG boxes that I complain about (fairly often), the personal story ending in a dungeon when the rest of it has been solo, the fact that you see other people in that personal story instead of your own character, the fact that I was more involved in my characters in Guild Wars 1 than here, the fact that there needs to be more build variety (which I have stated)…and probably others I can’t remember off hand.

Maybe it’s just that I disagree with the stuff YOU say that makes you think that I don’t see problems with the game. There are plenty of problems.

They’re just different from yours, because I have a different play style.

if you have different problem then why are you here?
if you have different play style then dont hate on us.
Farming is the main component of MMo except its a CASUAL MMO where grinding isn’t required.
GW can’t be considered casual since as we know, Legendary needs grinding (For most people, unlike vayne).
we are mostly aware that events gives rare and we do events because it gives rare. What if it doesnt give rare? obviously you wont see many players doing the event.
Then is it a farm? Yes Ofc. You are farming rares!
Clearly some people doesn’t like it when they’re less successful than others

First of all, I’m not hating on you. I’m disagreeing with the premise of the thread. I don’t believe there’s a “crisis” involving crystalline dust. Surely I have the right to believe that.

Prices on mats are going to fluctuate and changes are made in MMOs all the time which affect things. The biggest change most recently has been the Southsun event, which has pulled most of the farmers out of Orr.

But I think what will end up happening is that people will see the value of dust and fine ways and places to farm it. It’s self-regulating. The higher the price goes, the more people will go after it.

It may never be as cheap as it was at one point, but I don’t believe the price will keep going up. I believe it will go back down.

That’s why I’m here, in this thread.

The only group/person I can choose to believe in is one who’s either

a) Extremely experienced MMO gamer who made over 10000 g.
b) A real trader IRL
c) One’s who able to pull out real statistics and historical trends.

And of all which has to be tied to the Material Tap (the supply which has been repeatedly nerfed) and Material Sink (the demand), where supply > demand for stability.

The probable biggest demand:

1) Legendary component
2) Charged lodestones ascension
3) WvW usage of Superior hardened stones
4) Misc.

From the way I see it, the “farmers” are waiting to see if anet steps in, and they won’t go back to a dreary place like CS because it’s what they have been doing since start of gw2. I won’t do it, so dust prices going up is just as likely.

One thing that I really dislike is the thumbs up feature on opinions like yours. It might sound logical but there are way more factors in c.dust than you think, and people need to see clearly what’s going on. If anet’s going to increase the C.Dust supply with the next patch, it’s anet’s credit, not yours and not the farmers.

This is how terrifically bad the supply is right now. It’s worse than getting armored scale and blood, and one day the supply will dry up (which is still flooded from the union waypoint’s dust).

Speculation that Anet will do something about it is obviously high enough for people to start selling. It’s a sign that prices have reached the peak and the people who bought early on is starting to sell back (why did you think buy orders went up to 31500 to 40000). Do you really think dust suddenly appeared by magic and started selling by the thousands? Where the heck did the supply come from?

24th – 10000 sell listings, 31500 buy listings
30th – 1500 sell listings, 38000 buy listings

You know, as a moderately successful trader who made over 1000g on the TP, Vayne’s post is what I find to be mostly naive and I feel like I need to shut his comments down, especially when people wants to back him up. While I do think the price is going to fall, it’s because Anet’s about to come and change something to the loot system, and not because there’s a lack of players “farming” in Orr, even though it’s part of the reason.

First of all, I find it highly suspicious that the majority of you really know what’s going on in CS. One of the particular events that I do is escorting the NPC to Temple of Melandru, and for participating two of this, I got about 40 moldy bags in total with 160% MF, none of the bags dropped a single crystalline dust. But I did get around 2 crystalline dusts from mobs for the 2 events, in total of 50-60 minutes excluding waiting time. I didn’t bother to check out my tier 5 dust, but I assume it’s around 10-20.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Heavy_Moldy_Bag/Drop_rate

Now that’s only one source of Crystalline dust, which if you take a look, is only 1.11%. I did not participate in hitting the 3 waypoints, of which spider hatchlings drop nothing, but a few stated they got 1-2 c.dust out of 3 events (poor sample). This is where it gets into the grey area, and what I see as risk assessment (for TP)

It’s either

a) Players can’t give a crap about doing CS anymore, and runs off to more profitable aspects such as dungeons. (dust rises to 45 silvers)
b) Moderate population doing CS, dust remains at the price of 35 silvers – 40 silvers+ (most likely case.)
c) Large population does CS, dust goes down to 30 silvers (very unlikely), read reason below.
d) Everyone farms CS, dust goes back to 25 silvers (extremely unlikely), everyone’s going to be busy with dragon bash event.

All of which is without Anet’s interference (meaning they are doing NOTHING about this even after the incoming’s patch). I participated in a single day of union’s waypoint “farm”, and the amount of c.dust that I think I got was 20~ or so. That’s at least 10 times the rate compared to doing an event in CS, and how effective it was, and directly comparable to how much COF p1 gives out with the occasional rares and mats drop.

Since I don’t have the exact figures, it’s hard to know what exactly supply demand is, but here’s the statistics that’s most likely.

1-3 crystalline dust in 1 hour per player (remember you have DR as well.), so I doubt people are going to want to “farm” in CS.

So in theory, if Anet doesn’t do anything, demand will rise (because players are waiting for Anet to do something/looking forward to patch fix) or continue to wait. In any case, the damage is definitely done. I can hardly see the supply outstripping the demand currently, mainly because another source (union waypoint) has been completely closed.

Edit: Did melandru, waypoint events, grenth at Jade Quarry (I can only imagine the emptiness in other servers and poor loot drops). Did not do Arah, plinx.

Actually I can respond any way I please, particularly when someone says in a post that I don’t know what I’m talking about. That’s the same exact sort of phrase that is the same sort of assuming things. My response to I don’t know what I’m talking about (an assumption at best) is best refuted by saying I do know what I’m talking about.

If you weren’t biased in the first place, you’d have seen it as a response to someone trying to insult, instead of someone talking about facts. But you are biased (not the first time you’ve shown it to me), so I think I should completely discount your opinion.

When you learn to be less biased in your posting, then maybe your opinion will be worth my time to take seriously.

Yes, when you reply in an arrogant manner, it pleases me to refute you in a particularly biased manner (even if the possibility that the prices of crystalline dust will drop is high). Please go ahead and post your opinions that will be completely discounted by me.

I am not sure how many of you have noticed the reason given for the closure of most of the threads has been because they have devolved into the forum version of a sibling fight without offering any real insight or constructive feedback. I urge users of these forums to please try and respond responsibly and with details and supporting evidence, not just conjecture and assumption. OliverT, true arbitrage hardly happens in GW2 TP, the best traders will probably invest in something with minimal risks. Despite how it looks, I have managed to sell a profit with the above example. But the amount of profit is pretty low, and the constant amount of worry is just not worth the trouble compared to running a true COF p1 run.

No, I gave you an example (i.e = In example). I wrote no one is undercutting me, which ultimately qualifies as arbitrage, because nobody’s undercutting me.

Edit: Since you gave the above post. Your definition is wrong, and Orr can’t be as profitable as COF. The reason why the devs can’t flat out give an increase in Orr loot drops, is because WvW has heavy bag of loot as well. This ultimately is another resource that’s added into the TP.

Unless the Orr events itself give out true money, the T6 mats you get can never meet the amount of money from the TP, because there’s only a certain amount of money going into the TP itself. COF is pure money run, where your vendor your things to get gold, while Orr events provide you with material drops. Directly comparing the two in this manner is still wrong.

It’s a long explanation, but materials =/= gold (literally). It’s a trade item, tied to gold.

Yes, even with your reply, that definition of arbitrage is wrong to use here, for COF p1 runs and killing mobs for loot.

In economics and finance, arbitrage /??rb?tr???/ is the practice of taking advantage of a price difference between two or more markets: striking a combination of matching deals that capitalize upon the imbalance, the profit being the difference between the market prices. When used by academics, an arbitrage is a transaction that involves no negative cash flow at any probabilistic or temporal state and a positive cash flow in at least one state; in simple terms, it is the possibility of a risk-free profit at zero cost.

If you’re doing some TP flips, i.e, order 50 common armor at 12 coppers, while selling at a profitable 50 coppers where no other seller is undercutting me, you’re doing arbitrage, if I understand the term correctly.

I don’t get the above post. There is no 2 markets here, and you can’t take advantage on Market A and Market B (because it doesn’t exist). There are two types of revenue assuming you want gold, one by doing COF, one by trading your stuff with the loots you get from killing mobs.

You seem to think that games should just let everyone do whatever they want with no parameters. I don’t know what games you’re used to playing, but they all put measures into place to modulate loot drops. Every one of them. If it’s not a raid lock out, then it’s something else.

In most games everyone doesn’t have their own nodes, so nodes have to reset longer. In the case of farming, there are some people who want prices of stuff to be cheap and some people who don’t want the prices of stuff to be cheap. There have been people speculating and hoarding crystalline dust since before Southsun (one person admitted this openly on the forums) and they’re holding it to sell until the price maxes out.

You personally don’t like that Anet is closing up these holes where people can just farm all day and make a certain amount of money. I personally appreciate that Anet is doing that. Now if they could find a way to stop those who spend all day playing the marketplace.

I’m the reasonable one here. I’m not basing my entire gaming existence on whether or not I can farm X amount of gold or mat per hour. Others are.

Looks who’s assuming things now. I am not advocating Anet to let gamers farm as much as they want, I am merely asking what the devs are going to do about this problem. Every single time you post, you make it seem like anyone who wants the devs to do something about the loot drop appear to be a farmer. What is wrong with you, I need to ask.

This is a legitimate problem of Anet breaking things repeatedly, and hey, what do you know T6 dust is used in every other T6 mats ascension, and a lot more recipes. Sure, they “fixed” armored scales, and then when south sun “200% mf” disappears, am I going to assume that blood and scales are going to go back up to 35 silvers and beyond?

You have been posting, over and over again, verbally vomiting all over the forums, and I really get your point of cause and effect. Your posts are mostly antagonistic, insinuating that other people are wrong and you’re right, with the addition of “Hey, dude, you’re yelling” and “I’m the reasonable one here” (which is a whole lot egoism and arrogance), along with the typical “Others are basing their gaming experience on farming”.

It might not appear to be very obvious to other people, but you’re like a jellyfish. You appear to be harmless and seemingly alright, but whoa, just stop wrapping your tentacles around my post, please! Isn’t it enough that you do damage to other people’s posts?!

Stating the price changed for T6 dust because of Southsun patch is largely erroneous, it is because Lyssa’s union waypoint farm was closed down. This sudden dramatic rise came from May 25th, after it was closed down.

I also must laugh at your poor insight at crystalline dust prices. Do you really have any proof that after southsun cove dies, crystalline dust prices will go back to a normal state? Have you forgotten that Union waypoint is still closed? Even if the players do go back to orr events, I’m not even half convinced that dust will go below 30s.

PS: Do I need crystalline dust? No. I have gotten everything I wanted, but everytime anet breaks something, it’s not okay to just accept it. It’s ridiculous and it’s a poor state for the gamers.

41 silvers. My, my, my. Any devs want to respond. At all?

Comment on what exactly? That the dust is expensive. Last month armored scales were 37 silver. I’m not sure what your point is, or why a dev should comment on this?

I’m tired of your tirade too. What anet devs are doing is a soft control on TP prices. Every single time they change or closed an “exploit” or even something that’s remotely resembling farming, they close it down. This happened to plinx, and the majority of CS waypoint event areas. Then melandru came up with hardly any loot to it, along with Lyssa union waypoint changes. I recall even in the past where there’s a troll spot in frostgorge area being nerfed. Recent changes to skelks too.

This is a huge blanket nerf.

Saying armored scales is 37 silvers in the past is really a stupid thing to say. This is due to Anet’s lack of farming spots, and once the southsun thing is over, and the 200% mf is gone, you can be sure that the price goes up again. And I honestly detest that. WE have a serious lack of areas to get our mats from, and once again I state this, we’re at the beck and call of Anet.

What players should have is a clear place to get their materials from, and not some shoddy excuse where “because botters are detected, we will do a blanket nerf and let players dry in the sun for the next few weeks until we decide a new plan to artificially boost loot drops.”

Do you see where this is going? Or are you still going to insist that events designed by anet, a soft approach to lure you in with 200% mf and then donkeying you up with that stick and carrot approach? Where the stick is a slap on the union butt and the carrot is squeezing everyone into the southsun sardine train.

Dust should not sit at 20-25s, maybe around 5-10s, considering the fact that you need dust to promote everything to t6.

In my imaginary mind, the center of the Legendary Sword Bolt is a bolt of deep dark blue lightning running through it fiercely, instead of just a metal rod in between. The dragons on the sword are alive and spits out lightning from time to time and their eyes glow with streaks of lightning.

Quip is not a clown gun but a devil gun that shoots colorful and powerful explosions with the sound of a sniping rifle, making your enemies tremble with fear each time it fires.

Incinerator leaves smoldering effects on enemies and lights them up with angry black-red flames when you hit them, and your footprints literally lights the floor on fire for a few seconds instead of just leaving it burned.

No?

Well… here’s how anet designed them.

WvW and COF run. Lyssa runes + P/D is pretty horrible in WvW, too weak really.

PS: Just in case you were wondering, the feeling of having 3 legendary weapons isn’t that great (mainly because thief have been getting the nerf stick for ages.) And no, I don’t have the legendary bow.

I’ve been experimenting with Sword / Pistol lately, and I love it! I would really like to see the 15% increase in damage to PW, but until then I use it as a small burst and interrupt – it’s great for stopping an enemy burst! Other than that it’s a bunker build for tPvP, and because of the many evades and blinds I can go full berserker.

To OP: sword lack combo finishers, but the control and AoE damage this set is giving is just amazing. Ripping boons from guardians, interrupting big burst chains with PW and AoE blinding with Black Powder + Dagger storm (and healing with SoM). I just can’t see why I shouldn’t use sword in my main hand

I don’t see how you can “interrupt” big burst chains because it takes 3/4 seconds to even interrupt a chain with S/P. Control for 1 single target with S/D is acceptable and quite powerful against boon users who cannot refresh their boons quickly, but is useless against bunkers because you can’t kill them anyway.

PW is so useless right now it’s not even funny. It costs 5 frigging init without even doing more damage than the auto attack. Anet NERFED PW twice, once with a really stupid 15% damage reduction when quickness was 100% and the fault was with quickness, and again with the 50% quickness reduction (which was ridiculous at first because Haste wakitten with a 100% no endurance regen, ROFL, now it’s slightly better for PvE dungeon runs), probably making it do the same damage as a PVT warrior doing his 100b. Thanks Anet.

You cannot be serious if you think PW is the best set. You must be trolling or blind. I like the part where you blew all your initiative by casting Black field + PW (11 initiative). Any PvP player will jump in joy to see all your init gone and practically committed suicide with your neck in a noose.

Out of all the nerfs done to thief, I think S/P is truly hit with the worst nerfs ever, till the point it’s completely crap in PvP. PvE? Heh. Thank goodness the AI lets you hit them with 100% of the PW damage. (Sarcasm)

Just did this scourgejaw heart mission. You

A) Whip prisoners to make them work harder.
B) Any rebels have to be forced back to work by hitting them.
C) The guards tell them to work or die. (The guards never lose)

Great mission, Anet. Great.

We finished all 3 bosses, got all 3 chests and there is no “bonus content” to speak off, other than the 10-20 mobs around which we don’t want to fight, because they threw 10 bombs on the floor and pretty much instant KO us. I left the instance as I wanted to see what happens if I get another character inside, only to remember I was the instance creator.

The ultimate goal is stop the bosses and we did, so I have no idea what you’re talking about.

Edit since you edited: We killed frost, and… that was it. There’s no final cutscene triggering from the NPC. So we didn’t get any reward.

Path 1

Well, I ran a pug run for this, skipped multiple minor mobs (the riflemen, bombers) and went to the final boss, frost (after killing the initial bosses). After killing him, the NPC didn’t activate. Any insight as to why this happened?

I don’t have any screen shots at the final area, only the one where I forgot I was the instance creator. Will any devs help my group? And while I’m not holding my breath, can we get our Seals of beetletun? I don’t really mind the loss of gold, but one hour of this and we fail to get our seals is really painful.

I find that S/P is severely underwhelming. In the first place, the synergy between S/P is zero.

D/P – Leap combo, heartseeker damage + backstab, utilizes Shadow arts (SA) trait line. Daggers and pistols have several traits option. Typically people would want to have at least quick initiative recovery
D/D – Has huge burst damage, also utilizes the SA line.
S/D – No traits for swords. Offhand dagger is the main reason why you can use the SA line.
S/P – Worst of the lot. Received a 15% nerf in damage way back. Some people claim that auto attack does around the same damage as pistol whip. Blinding field is completely useless since sword has no finisher to speak off. But D/P has leap finisher (stealth after heartseeker), P/P has projectile finisher.

After all the nerfs, FS/LS is the only thing that got buffed, and it has nothing to do with the trait lines. And some people are stating, oh, it’s too powerful, it needs a nerf. People, are you dense in the head?

I think we’re lacking a thief dev. After 8-9 months of no buffs for sword traits (non-existent), there’s still nothing. So does this mean thieves only have daggers and pistols? (bows are way more utility than anything else)

If you think sword thieves need to have traits and especially receive buffs on S/P, please +1 this thread.

Wow, you know jack kitten about thieves outside of Spvp. Obviously, you only play sPvP and do not or rarely play WvW. I can hit for upwards of 6K with LS on my 10/30/30/0/0 or 0/30/30/10/0 build. I have 50% crit chance, 270% crit damage (150% base), and close to 4K attack. 4K crits is the norm and 5+K crits if target is below 50%.

I run HIS for heals and blinding powder so tactical strike is aways available if the situation calls for it. In WvW, there is no build that will win 1v1 against a good S/D thief. The most they can do is run for their life. The closest would be either a trap ranger or phast mesmer, but in WvW, that is almost a none issue since you’re fighting in an open area and not a 600 radius capture point.

Stop speaking as if PvP doesn’t happens outside of Spvp. /shrug

Lmao. I’m sorry, I’m a little too busy with the zerg fest in WvW using D/D + main bow (30/30/0/0/10) or balanced between damage/survival D/D (0/30/30/10/0). Yeah, you can do your 1v1 dances in WvW while I struggle to get points for my server. My goal is to kill someone asap, get points, the end.

Anyway, PvP S/D thief has CnD (50% reduced damage)/Tactical strike duration (1.5 seconds) nerfed. WvW has no nerf to it. When someone says NERF FS/LS, it better not be PvP.

Learn the difference.
