Ok, so I had to work on that day too so I couldn’t play too much on ROF, overall description on WvW is

ROF – Saw 3 commanders on 3 different maps, at 4 am, 2 pm on EU timing (different maps). Map was ineffective in communication, no orders being passed around. When someone pointed out the particular commander isn’t good enough, everyone started to flame him, calling him a troll.

Commander responded in all caps, saying he spent plenty of Gs in the war, and players should shut up before complaining.

Underworld – Brave effort with rams and a siege defences, but players equipment looks to be poorer than Gandara. ROF should have no problem fighting them.

Gandara – Formidable as heck. I didn’t scout if they are great trebuchet users, but they have plenty of DPS, saw small squads that run about cutting ROF runners, and uses siege relatively well. They fortify their captured towers with siege defences before attempting to capture another area.

I don’t WvW that much since I’m concentrating on my legendary atm, but hopefully there is some insight from me to the other players in EU.

1) Assign scouts to warn about incoming zerg. Make sure your scouts are fast runners to they won’t die.
2) Fortify your own towers before attacking.
3) When you attack make sure that you succeed in bringing towers down or at least complete an objective. The commander who led in EB attacked Underworld’s area without assigning scouts. When players started to see zergs from Gandara, they panicked and ask for help, ending up in a false alarm. Also, the zerg size was too small to accomplish anything.
4) If an enemy zerg is attacking, quickly reinforce the area, especially if there’s no siege defences. Durios was conquered in 2 mins because the tower was empty with no supplies. The commander should have at least waited till Bravost and Durios are well defended before attempting to attack another location.
5) I meant no insult, and is only my insight. I hope ROF get better.

Thanks for the day trip.

So I just recently transferred from crystal desert to ring of fire (a few hours), going there in hopes of learning some WvW, and then going back tomorrow to report to guild about what I learnt about EU tactics

But ouch!

Gandara was sweeping the entire battlegrounds because there were no people manning the servers, haha. In general I saw quite a number of 80s and their equipment doesn’t appear to be bad either. One of the towers were sieged up well (catapult, 2 ballista, 2 arrow karts.) and their response to fighting back people were pretty quick. Not bad at all, Gandara.

It’s too early to tell what’s how good ROF are, but I’ll be sure to update this post 10 hours later.

For reasons undisclosed, I’m very sad (even depressed over it) over how the precursor market turned out and I’m trying to give away/sell the goods that I have. I tried my very best to diffuse the market, but it was pretty hard to craft precursors to beat the market. But as an individual, I really, really tried my very best to police it.

The only condition that I have is for you to post your /age in-game screenshot. The way how I’m going to pick is to count how many posts are in here and head off to a random number generator.

The prize will be given away 7 days later.

Not sure why you think grinding the same spot over and over again day in and day out for materials to throw into a magic blender hoping it shoots out a precursor is legendary.

Then again, some people actually like fun in their games. Others play korean mmos.

I’m pretty sure the game will add more content in the future. You don’t expect legendary weapons to pop out in a single month.

I have already stated many times that a legendary to me is something that can only be gotten by luck, skill and determination. It is something that cannot be gotten either by one component.

1) Have you gotten all your exotic equipment?
2) Do you have alt characters leveled up to lvl 80?
3) Then people, start gathering, large bones, ancient bones, orichalcum ore, mithril ore, elder wood log and ancient wood log.

Here’s the thing people are missing out. 3 years * 365 days = 1095 tries. If you farm for 1 hour every day in cursed shore, you will get at least enough to produce 4 Carrion Krait Slayers.

Step 1.

15 Large bones, 18 mithril ore, 6 elder wood logs to produce 1 Krait slayer. You can get this by getting the loot.

Step 2.

Sell blue/greens, buy the above mats to produce 3 krait slayers.

Step 3.

Throw 4 rares into forge.

Step 4.

Gather 42 orichalcum ores, 30 wood logs, 5 ectos (salvage rares), 5 ancient bones, and make an exotic every 2-3 days. You get 300 exotics in 3 years, 1000 rares in 3 years.

Step 5.

Hope ANet adjusts the RNG slightly and you can “get” your legendary (FINALLY!).

Some people here keeps thinking that only skilled people should get it, and whine about how others get it in a month (oh come on, legendary should be gotten after 2-3 years). I say Luck, Determination and Skill should be the route to getting a legendary. Stop complaining and whining about how RNG is screwing you up when the game just started (also ANet is already looking into this). It’s not as if getting an EXOTIC equipment is very hard and legendary should be an optional thing.

It’s difficult to see what’s happening in the crafting side, but to test out how bad it was, I threw in approximately 1500 rare GS and still couldn’t get a precursor (even threw in the exotics that I received). Don’t get me wrong, imo precursors should cost 400-500g and I spent only 250g~ on this at one shot, it’s just that the only thing that concern me is the precursors rising up very quickly and I don’t wish to see market manipulation. But even then, given the post forge patch, the well of precursors should dry up soon (despite the ugly profits of some people).

I do agree it’s simply exhausting to do everything in 1 day (I spent 3 hours crafting), but IMO for the people who are going for legendary, you should just try to forge the rares every day to try and get it.

In any case, I did my part and (probably spent 300g on public research) with no avail on getting precursors. My guess is the odds are 1/375-1/500 for rares, 1/50 for exotics, but maybe ANet placed it higher. If this game is really for the casuals, maybe the RNG should be given slightly higher odds for rares/exotics, but otherwise ANet can keep the odds.

Good luck everyone! I won’t be touching the precursor scene anytime soon (I already got 1 earlier).

Go look at Aion if you want an example of what RNG can do to a game.

As I understand it, Aion’s almost everything is RNG. You don’t need RNG to craft yourself an exotic with the exact stats, do you? Right now I’m talking about this single item that’s supposed to be either lucky or unlucky on tries. That’s all.

@LoneWolf you need to stop talking out of your kitten
First of all this is not WoW, EVE, Lineage 2 or whatever other game you decide to bring up and there’s a reason why I’m playing this game and not those.
This game also isn’t real life so I really don’t see why it should simulate getting screwed over.

I’m not interested in punishing anyone, that’s just something you’re assuming again. Although the Godskull method of obtaining precursors was in fact an exploit not some clever use of mechanics.

You say we want to punish others but I just want to know why I am being punished for not getting a precursor early? Am I going to be punished some more if I don’t farm up for it right now?

Even the devs have stated they feel the precursors are getting too expensive. If they say they’re too expensive why can’t we? Clearly something is not working as intended.

And, yes people are screaming over the loss of 100g because it is lost to the most annoying system in existence. No it wasn’t from being backstabbed on the market or exploited by other players. It was from RNG that gave them nothing back. At least in games like WoW, when you were going for a legendary the RNG involved was from raids and with raids even if you fail the RNG from the legendary, chances are you’ll make some kind of profit from gear or something. The RNG from the Mystic forge does nothing but eat your money untill you hit that jackpot.

P.S. If you’re going to make another reply at least respond to what we’re saying not what you assume we want. You can talk to your strawman without posting here.

All day long I’m looking at people who complain and whine over and over while I keep reading on how people managed to get their hands on dusks and dawns with their thrown in weapons post forge patch AND actually make a profit. The amount of whine here is annoying as the babies who will not stop crying.

RNG is not legendary in any way shape or form. RNG is not hard. RNG is not fun. You’re kidding yourself if you actually think it is.

“Stop being a blind fan boy for a moment and realize there are actaully ways they could make to obtain these weapons that would be both fun and hard all the while keeping them unique.”

I will think fun is missing from the legendary, but that’s about it. RNG means luck to me. And if I’m not fated to have it, it simply means that I can’t get it.

I don’t see it as time wasted. This is what lies ahead when you go with a “legendary” item. Even if you are to spend another 150 G on trying to get the precursor, you can’t complain about it (and this is most likely ANet’s true odds to getting a precursor). There’s only one Excalibur, one Fragarach, one single mystic weapon in real history. If you aim to get it in a video game, I expect it to be notoriously kitteny hard where you grind away like a nerd. The fact there’s so much RNG actually appeals to me as a player (I’m probably going to do this for the next 3 years). I don’t wish to see 3 years later where there are 1000 legendary weapon users in lion’s arch.

The only thing that I don’t like is the same stats weapon. I rather they add 1 single damage point to set it apart from the exotics, and a pat on the back that you are finally legendary.
We’ve seen players discussing the topic of crafting legendary precursor weapons and claiming that we’ve made changes to make this more difficult. We’d like to be clear that we did not make any across the board changes to reduce the drop rate, nor was it our intention to significantly increase the difficulty in acquiring these precursor weapons.
We did fix a few bugged recipes that were rewarding Legendary precursors more often than they should have been. These recipes were mostly using Rares in the level 70-75 range and mostly affected the precursors for the greatswords and the dagger. This has had some effect on the drop rate when using lower level rares to attempt to get a precursor but it was never intended for that to be the best way of acquiring these weapons. The recipes for throwing in level 80 exotics have not changed at all.
We have been watching the prices climbing on Legendary precursors and share your concerns about some of them becoming too expensive. We will continue to monitor the situation and will make any adjustments we feel are necessary.
Post the data on the number of players that have made a precursor since the patch***

Of all the Legendary Weapons in the game I’d like to see the data of the number of players who Purchased their Precursor or made it Pre-Patch before the changes. I bet the numbers are astronomically low because all the purchased ones are precursors that were exploited prepatch (wether it was on purpose or by mistake).

Honestly no one should have a Legendary who did not aquire their precursor in the forge post patch imo. Refund them their Materials and if the purchased from the TP refund the purchase cost and tell them to have fun in the forge like everyone else doing it how it’s “Intended”.

You won’t be missed if you quit. Good riddance. In fact I’m glad to be rid of such shallow individuals who quit over a weapon skin. Legendary weapons =/= only thing in Guild Wars 2, and exotics offer the exact same stats as a legendary weapon. I have no clue what you’re complaining about when all these are completely optional.

RNG for precursors is demoralizing and unfair. Can’t believe Anet didn’t learn this lesson from games like Aion, released by NCSOFT, the parent company. Make the Legendaries hard to acquire, in fact very hard, but make the process deterministic. Just look at the damage to “goodwill” toward the game that is done when players grind endlessly for a chance to proc and get nothing. Made worse by the other player who says they “got it on the first try.” And the whole argument that the stats of other less prestigious weapons are just as good is irrelevant — Legendaries are THE thing to acquire in the game. Such a pitiful mistake.

Only nerds get legendaries. That’s really all there is to it.

I think many people are underestimating the price of the precursors. It’s called “LEGENDARY”, not some exotic that should require a fixed recipe. Do I think the market is shocking? Not really. Guessing from Lindsey words, the odds that one should get it from the forge has to be at least 400-500 G budget and above (where you can sell the other exotics and get a refund of 100 G +), and if the precursor’s price goes over 400 G on the market, then the devs will probably increase the odds of getting the weapons.

Legendary is supposed to be a legend, not some common place weapon that you can find on the streets. If you’re fated to have the precursor, you’re given the opportunity to work on it for months to craft it to a legend.

What’s remarkably funny is that you’re 1 month in and wish to get the legendary weapon in another 3 months, instead of 3 years. Sheesh.

You are a LEGEND (in both nerdism and dedication), if you manage to craft it.

See, it’s people like you that really ruin the conversation. Stop assuming how much time and effort we want to put into a legendary. Literally NO ONE said they wanted a legendary in 3 months. This is a thread with hundreds of posts and you still somehow manage to comment about things that do not exist in ANY of them (or anywhere else on the forum for that matter).

This is a thread personally geared towards getting a legendary with a FIXED gold amount between whatever Gs they want it to be, stop pretending like it is not.

The amount of people who lost only 100 g are whining like there’s no future for GW2. If people are screaming bloody murder after 500 g loss after half a year of hard work, I might be inclined to say something about it, but right now everyone seems to lose it or thinks they should be entitled to have a set recipe or have higher odds. GW2’s legendary weapons are probably less of a hassle to get compared to WoW (some people claimed the first legendary came out only after 9 months in wow, and the drops are also abysmal) or Lineage 2, so excuse me when I think that legendary should be harder to get.

OP states that she/he wants more information on getting a legendary item with a breakdown on rares/exotics (what??!), market manipulation, “exploits” (rofl), Alpha testers (lmao) and demands compensation by form of punishment, limitation and information from the devs.

People are constantly testing ANet’s system by trying to get more goodies from the dungeons, finding a way to inflate the market and underselling each other. So are you going to seek punishment for the people who attempted to get more from the dungeons? Let’s have a ban grenade and ban 20,000 players who did that. Or some chili poppers thing I heard about. How about this guy who made the first triforge pendant, posted it on the forums, made a profit of a super cool 180 G, should you ban him too?

Tsk. The users cannot be faulted when it was ANet’s oversight and willing buyers. Grow up. Real life isn’t so easy. You win some, you lose some. If you hate the fact that ANet couldn’t respond in time, then control the market yourself and be a “good player”.

I think if some of you are to try and play Eve Online (notorious for zero dev control towards market issues), you will break your keyboard in frustration after getting backstabbed by anyone.

New Event DR

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LoneWolfie.1852

LoneWolfie.1852

Oh! THOSE!

Ya, I can actually explain that potentially. There were a lot of people doing them with you, correct? The reason might be that you end up accidentally ‘speed running’ them just because of the sheer mass of players hitting the mobs in the camp. Thus you’re doing them faster than ANet expects them to be doable, thus triggering the code.

Because after a certain mass of players, no amount of scaling saves those poor mobs, especially if they aren’t wave events that are on timers. They have the potential to hit DR if people are doing them all in a chained row.

Strill, it’s doing the same event back to back. Did you do those five events in a chain or did you just sit at the camp waiting for the next spawn? If you break up events with other events, it delays DR.

I’m assuming this because I’ve tested it, though not enough to say for 100% sure. If I do the Orr defend the camp events in the last one and just do those ones without anything in between and just wait for the respawn of that single event without moving from the event area, Karma amounts start dropping after the 3rd iteration.

Sounds like karma points in a certain time frame rather than events (although some are hand crafted to stop hot spots botting). In any case based on the rate I’m going at, I’ll get my legendary at least 15-20 days later. I feel like a nerd getting the legendary weapon by farming karma (esp with this karma DR grind), and the people who got them SO FAST, man, do they have a life…? Cough.

My guess is he has full berserker’s gear and he has a full stack of bloodlust (+250 power). With certain builds he can do a number of stacks of Might as he activates poison and signets, and he is able to inflict 5 or 6 stacks of vulnerability. Stealing can do damage as well so he can do something like

Cloak + dagger = 5k damage,

If he has superior rune of air = 2k damage
Backstab = 10 k damage.

Last night i noticed the ram I was using was hitting a tower door for roughly 6k every 5 seconds iirc. Pretty sure the tower door was not upgraded since the tower ownership was back and forth. That comes to roughly 72k per minute. With two rams and about 20 players the wall was breached in approximately 4 minutes.

Obviously, with so many unknowns it is difficult to get a solid estimate but based on that info I’d estimate a basic Tower door has:

72k x 2rams x 4minutes x 1.3 (roughly the ram/player dmg adjustment) = 750k hitpoints

Woah. I was hitting for 8 K! Does that mean high powered characters does more?

This is imho, information that should be kept away from the enemies, or at least allow any user to turn them off if they so desire (especially for commanders).

28 Exotic Greatswords in the Mystic Forge equals....

To celestea, I tried 3 exotics (trash 76-78) + 1 forge crystal, which more or less cost 2.2 G each try. I believe I tried around 30 + times (Don’t worry about my gold for now! I’m wealthy enough to attempt this for the masses as I managed to sell a dusk that I saved till a while ago for quite a bit of money.) and I still have not gotten any precursor yet. The more interesting stuff I got were around 4-7 G (they have a name on them, Jora’s shield or something Deathxxx staff)

I’m currently saving the rest of the money for my legendary dagger, but as soon as that’s done, I’ll be spending the rest of the money for research!

Not rolling back the exploiters gold was a huge mistake,

sad really, recovery of the economy is going to take a while

That’s utter KITTEN. The economy is broke because mats drop are low and mobs drop blue and green equipment. You can never make profits from crafting and even with rolling back the “exploiters” gold, you’re NOT going to fix the economy (because it was already broke from the beginning). How the hell is fixing “rich people” gold going to fix the economy of greens/blues selling at vendor level?

Some of this people, really, have no clue what they are talking about, and they just run their mouth off. Try thinking a little deeper, please!

Sounds like it’s not a great weapon, with no shiny or glowy thing to it. The cost is way too low.

The fastest way I can see is TP market trend and cursed farming. And I don’t think ANet’s going to up the chances just because it’s very popular… it’s meant to be a legendary.

Can we do something like Captcha or something in game to refresh our DR system while curbing the bots?

I think the devs know what’s happening, many lockdowns and what not, but this “discussion” is only going to see results next week or something, where a new patch comes in.

I think the more vocal ones are the people who are willing to spend money on karma boosters and finding out that it’s curbed to bits for ORR farms. I obviously heard stuff about how other MMOs are grindy and things, and I guess ANet is no exception despite the claims.

Jumping puzzles in WvW should be 'neutral' area's

TBH I was hoping jump puzzle is neutral. Sort of like, take a break or something. I’m getting like kind of tired of having to kill people 24/7 in wvw. If only ANet will let have an option of declaring “neutrality” (cannot be attacked, and cannot attack others), that will be great.

If I’m nice and don’t hit them (glass cannon thief), they just take advantage and down me easily. That’s really a pity. As of late, I had to force myself to bring them down first.

The problem with CD is that our presence in WvWvW greatly diminishes in the morning hours, and any gain we make during typical US prime-time hours disappears in the morning. We gave it a good push in the beginning and took the lead briefly and then slipped as we inevitably lagged behind due to morning losses. Last night we made another push and got two orbs, and then lost them in the morning (no surprise). People are not interested in continually dishing out gold and karma to bolster keeps that cannot be defended by our sparsely populated morning crew (no offense to them, they tried). Many people have left to other servers that have 24/7 representation, and, yes, Anet is to blame for this trend (that shouldn’t have been allowed, and hopefully they are seeing the repercussion of that mistake). The same thing happened to us last week, and we simply cannot keep up with constant representation (and lost more people back then, as well). I honestly don’t blame the people who leave; Anet should have had the foresight to anticipate what would happen due to WvWvW population disparity. CD will continue to fall in rank until we can be matched with other servers that share the same issue.

On another note, the game is still young and more people are interested in saving their gold to equip their characters in exquisite gear; a brief upgrade to a keep is not worth the gold when your side is obviously in last place. The exploits, consumable issues, supply dumping (the general supply design is poor and has fundamental flaws), and constant need for individuals (and not the entire server) to pay for keep maintenance with gold (and not a WvWvW only currency), are only some of the problems that need to be addressed before WvWvW really takes off. For now, the winning servers will be the ones that can constantly deploy players 24/7 and are willing to pay the gold to constantly upgrade keeps and buy blueprints. I certainly wouldn’t leave CD and my guild just because we aren’t able to compete in a broken WvWvW environment; there’s always real PvP in sPvP. Hopefully Anet will address the issues plaguing WvWvW soon because it has great potential.

When I come on in during the US morning time, the situation has already gone to south. We (the oceanics) do try to take back keeps/towers during our peak hours, but we can’t man it 24/7 either. So our peak hours are maybe 4-5 in total, and we just get slammed after that.

As for IOJ and ET collusion? IOJ are clearly dumb, because they keep on hitting our supplies all day long at EB (at least during one point), and it ended up impossible to defend our positions. The lack of supplies, lack of man power, lack of people wanting to donate siege weapons, yeah… it wasn’t really possible to defend. So when they said their target was ET all along, they should check themselves and ask if that’s really the case. All they see is some easy supply target (because we are busy defending our keep with every able body), and steal some advantage.

Is CD disorganized? Yup. That’s because we simply don’t have the manpower. No one is spending enough time on the game to learn how WvW works or train up the general population.

@LoneWolfie (sorry would quote, but forum won’t let me)

When I’ve not wanted to bother with Orr, I’ve farmed Harathi, Sparkfly and even Queensdale, event after event after event for hours and still not hit any DRs.

I am not saying this is the same for everyone, but I’ve yet to see a drop in karma – and since the introduction of DR I’ve been specifically looking for it.

You can take a look at this post. I think it’s more to do with doing more than X events in 30 minutes? Something like that.
