I’ve been running around in Orr all day between breaks in my personal story (in Orr), and have no magic find and always forget to eat food… But we’re running 10% magic bonus in my guild right now – so 10% is all the bonus I have.

But there are 2 exotics in my bags right now that were not there this morning. Plus my crafting mats have been filling up like crazy again, and I’ve vendored a ton of stuff.

/shrug.

Hi. I would like to say I had 1000 hours of gameplay in, and I gotten 2 exotics ever from a mob drop. Likewise, I had 150% mf, and my crafting mats isn’t filling up like crazy. The 2 exotics in your bag may have been map completion. That’s all I’m going to say.

Okay, any excuse for removing loot in CS?

This is ridiculous. The moment you removed Lyssa’s “exploit”, crystalline dust went from 25 silvers to 28 silvers, while incandescent dust went up from 1.5 silvers to 1.9 silvers in just one day. This terrible lootless game. And the best part is you guys changed the loot in CS to give… NOTHING. OMG. Why do you spawn 999 spiderlings in melandru that gives NOTHING???

And your excuse?

There were an excessive number of bots at that location on several servers, so the spawns during the event (only) had their loot reduced. No changes were made to any creature outside the event, including wraiths in other locations. We tried to find the simplest, safest change possible. I hope that answers the question, but I really don’t want to get into a debate about “What is farming?” or “Does farming hurt the economy?” or “Economy? It’s a game, who cares?”

- Jeffrey Vaughn

Yeah it hurts the economy. When NO one goes there to “farm”, the price in mats tend to increase! The best part is, it took you a few moments to completely wipe out the entire loot drops in Lyssa, but any adjustments in Orr?

Erm…. Nope! And quite frankly, I don’t understand why you guys think this is a good policy. You nerfed the farm areas repeatedly, and yet you think to give 200% mf on southsun cove, which everyone goes there now. Is this another debate on economy something?

There has been repeated cries about loot drops, so I’ll stop here. I think I’m not buying any expansions when it comes out, because it’s going to be the same “DR” system.

My sarcasm meter is acting up when Vayne states he got lucky with his hunter precursor. I personally know my guild member who has over 7000 achievement points, but he has no precursor to speak of. His in-game hours is tremendous, doesn’t do cof farming because he’s an ele, and camps the chests every single day with a few dungeons + fotm.

He hasn’t got a precursor yet.

I’m just boggled by how many non-thieves come in here and complain about LS. By the fact that you even ask for a nerf on FS/LS, and claim “4-5k damage” because your enemies/yourself is using a spanking berserker amulet, just makes me want to bang my head.

A) To even hit that high amount of 4-5k damage, you’re basically equipping berserker armor/traiting damage.
B) Spamming that basically means tactical strike is non-functioning.
C) Some builds without boons can’t be beaten with S/D.

To be completely honest, it’s almost impossible to pair S/D with any other weapon builds (swap weapons). If you want condition, you can’t have “4-5k damage”. If you want burst damage from D/D (which heavily relies on SA to work), you can’t spam your inits 33333 from S/D.

So it kitten es me off to see how many “thieves” who doesn’t know what they are talking about. If you’re extremely skilled with the profession, you should already know that superman elementalists/guardians one on one can’t be taken down, and if it’s a group fight, superman elementalist can run away, while guardian holds down the fort for a long enough time.

There’s a HUGE problem with thief pvp. I can’t build any build I want to satisfactorily and reasonably make it work. The only few builds are conditional P/D, Burst D/D, survival P/D.

S/D is imo the worst set that has the most awkward mechanics. It demands initiative, controls only a single target (mostly), and yet is unable to take down the majority of the builds out there 1v1. That nerf in pvp is ridiculous (both tactical strike and Backstab damage), and that so called buff FS/LS remains nothing more than a niche campaign thus far. It does nothing against non-boon users, thank you very much. While I proposed my own buffs, anet better consult a brilliant thief user and ask him what problems S/D has, and not some random guy saying “Oh, FS needs nerfing.”

The funny bit is, when I played Guild Wars 1, the loot was, for the most part, equally unrewarding. I mean you’d do a dungeon and you’d get these yellow drops (which we called gold drops) and they’d be worthless. You could get some coin by selling them as unidentified golds for people who were working on their wisdom title, but basically, they were worthless.

It would get to the point after a while where nothing that dropped really meant anything unless it was a black or white dye….or an ecto if you were in the underworld. Or a lock pick.

Guild Wars 1 wasn’t really a loot based game, and neither is Guild Wars 2.

I very much disagree that GW2 isn’t a loot based game. I don’t know if you noticed but a lot of desirable items require you to get hundreds of very rare items. I have only played GW1 to get the first 6 HoM points, and quite frankly i don’t even care about GW1, so i can’t really share your sentiments.

You don’t acquire best looking items by completing a list of achievements and challenges in a dungeon, or completing a jumping puzzle in a certain amount of time, or reaching a benchmark on your PVP/WvW kills. You get the most desirable items by repeating the same content over and over and over again, until you either get the loot you need or exchange the gold you earned by doing that content, for the items you didn’t loot yourself. This is still called farming, no matter how you look at it. Some people “are having fun” some are not, but this doesn’t mean that this is not farming.

And GW2 needs A LOT of farming, be it for items or gold. In both cases this is loot. Yes it is OPTIONAL. But really whenever someone says “it’s optional” to me it seems like a poor defense to the state of this game.

However, i have always said that this is a necessary evil, since poor rewards make people buy gems and exchange it for gold. The question is, how much are people willing to put up with this. Even if it’s not pay to win, people sense that GW2 is kinda a cash cow, and some people just don’t like that feeling. Way too much importance has been placed on gold.

I got a legendary without farming. It’s not necessary. It’s a state of mind.

I do whatever I feel like doing in the game. If it’s keg brawl then that’s what I do. I don’t make a single gold coin playing keg brawl, I do it for fun.

And I do the other stuff I do for fun also. And I have a legendary weapon, and started my second. It would have taken me another three months if I hadn’t had a precusor drop….so?

If you want it NOW you can grind for it. If you play the game you’ll get it when you get it. Neither way is wrong, but one of us is content.

That’s utter rubbish. You got a legendary without farming? Either you bought mats/precursor when they are cheap, otherwise the entire cost of making a legendary goes up over 1000 G for some of them.

That means you either run over 10+ chested events, farm thousands of cof runs, or stay in southsun cove for 3-4 hours a day (since it’s a limited event). Try telling any wvw players to play one single hour a day that they can get their legendary without farming. And don’t quote that 1/10000 wvw player who managed to get a precursor. That’s like saying anyone WvW player will get his precursor after 10000 days.

Quite frankly, while the dev states there’s no “suspicious” thing going on, I can’t really trust anything what Anet says nowadays…

Once upon a time they stated they had nothing against the farmers, but nerfed plinx, frostgorge troll blood farming spot, grubs.

Once upon a time people went around straits to get karma. Character swapping resets Karma dr. Anet removed that option.

Once upon a time they stated your end game can be done anywhere, but that’s not true, the rewards are trash if it’s not a dungeon or level 80 farming spots.

Once upon a time exotic was the highest tiered gear, then came ascended treadmill, over which I boycotted the game for 2 months, until laurels came out.

Do I think this game is at, its end? Almost. The next thing that’s going to be on Anet’s nerf list is the COF dungeon. Once that happens, the economy is going to get screwed and it’s time to permanently trash can this game. No amount of “living story” will bring players in, because there’s no hard content worth playing for.

I just don’t even understand why it’s necessary to nerf plinx farm, or even have DR getting in after 30 minutes. That’s just disgusting.

First of all that assumption remains an assumption, Anet reverted it for WvW and PvE, it’s unlikely they want to touch it any further. Next is about the venoms. I didn’t really propose a duration increase for venoms, I proposed AOE venoms for a grandmaster trait, which will really make things go wild. AOE basilisk poison? Suddenly basilisk poison doesn’t look so bad at all.

As for traps, I really dislike seeing mechanic changes.

A) It’s difficult to code.
B) People don’t like to learn.
C) Therefore it’s just better to change numbers.

As for SoS signet, didn’t Anet said they want us to be more mobile? I could care less about what other people think, we’re supposed to be the most mobile profession.

As for the other squishy DPS machines, we are squishy. I think we’re the worst off squishy players compared to any of the other professions. We can’t really survive without having stealth, because if we’re caught, we’re dead. Using S/D with evades works better now, but it’s still a really shabby build without much to look forward to.

I also didn’t really propose a buff to DD burst and DP thieves. I made it slightly weaker, in fact. The only game changer I did make is the Assassin’s signet to clear off 5 boons, while the others are misc buffs like headshot/dancing daggers that do slightly more dmg, which should make it up for changing Shadow’s rejuvenation.

For me the biggest issue I see with the thief is the fact that Deception utility skills are clearly much better for the most part than almost all the other utility skills we have.

Made a forum post about some fixes a while ago if you want to read it

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Suggestions-for-Thief-Utility-Skills/first#post2004740

Also would love to see some love to pistol whip, pistol main hand skills (except sneak attack which is fine), pistol/pistol weaponset as a whole, dancing dagger, shortbow auto, and tweaks to steal (possibly adding f2 and f3 as an additional steal but increasing CD of steal?)

Another Boon user? I think we’re unable to kill the boon users like guardians and elementalists already. Add 1 more to thief to the list, and we will hear no end to it. Everyone will QQ and we shall expect to see a nerf cry. Either buff venoms to stronger attrition (add 33% duration to all venoms), or mass crowd control through grandmaster trait. I don’t see why thieves need a boon buff since they’re very strong under stealth already.

And I don’t recall an addition of utilities to any of the other professions… if there is, everyone wants to expect their own profession to have an addition. What’s blaze trap? As for the traps, yes, they need a buff, but your duration suggestion makes it a nerf (45-60 seconds compared to rangers’ traps cooldown).

Shadow of signet already increases the speed by 25% in combat. As explained, I dislike boons on thieves. If anything, it should increase combat speed to 50% speed by 5 seconds. That makes it sound way more attractive.

And no to Assassin signet’s. You won’t believe the amount of QQ we will get if we get an unblockable CnD into backstab, where their evades and blocks are useless.

Even Roll for initiative is a nerf. You’re nerfing it by like 15% or something.

I think overall looking at your list, it’s more of a nerf than anything. Nobody will want to switch to using venoms/traps with a 60 seconds cooldown.

The first priority of the buffs should be, I build any kind of thief I like, and it’s still as powerful as burst DD thief, DP thief in their own ways. Then we can re-tweak even more of the thief lists.

I think the discussion has digressed to a point of “I can do more heartseekers and damage as proof”!

Which is inane. If you compare DPS, don’t compare it with just a terrible insert add extra 10% dps comment. It’s just beyond silly and utterly pointless. You should have written warrior PvE DPS compared to thief’s PVE DPS for me to take you even seriously.

I am not here to write about how I have problems in PvE or WvW or PvP. I’m talking about thief DPS needs to be higher than in general, which I doubt the buffs I’m proposing even does that too much.

First you go from heartseeker do more damage than backstab to, I can heartseeker 10 times in 17 seconds. I frankly don’t care. How old are you? 13? You’re not here to teach me maths, but your arguments are as childish as one of that age (although that might be quite rude to the 13 years olds).

PS: If you want to ask a whirl that uses 130 range, Cyclone Axe, Staggering Blow, Protector’s Strike, Death Blossom. End of line. I’m not going to reply to anymore on whatever you write. Silly troll =/

@lonewolfie
2. ok so you want to nerf thieves regeneration , would be really kitten
if you make comparations with warriors, compare the heal over 30 seconds.
300 healing power warrior : 3 x shouts x 1500 heal *5 ally’s = 4500 heal for 5 ally’s = 22500 heal.
300 healing power on thief : shadow refuge CnD /CnD/blinding powder /Cnd.. etc , considering your opponent don’t dodge, blind you etc.
30 seconds perma stealth x 320 /sec stealthed = 10000 heal
engineirs , rangers , elementalists can get permanent regeneration, if you want i can draw you an picture.
necromancers -wells heal ally’s- AOE
Guardians – dodge heal for x+ 1 *healing power x 5 ally, high regeneration duration etc

3. thieves skill coeficient ratio:
Double Strike (1-1): 0.2775 x2
Wild Strike (1-2) – Lotus Strike (1-3): 0.847
Autoattack chain: 2.249 – 2s – 1.1245
Stealthed – Backstab (front): 1.202 – 0s – N/D
Stealthed – Backstab (back): 2.405 – 0s – N/D
Heartseeker: 1 (>50%)/1.502 (25%-50%)/2.005 (<25%)
Cloak & Dagger: 1.624 – 0.5s
So backstab have 2.4 ratio and heartseeker (under 25% hp) have 2.00 ratio and you want to buff heartseeker, to be more efficient that backstab
4.
because is an imobile skill and you cannot have whirl area
it is an skill that don’t require much brain to land in pve
is spammable

There’s some horrible stuff written here….

A) The entire SA line is very powerful with powerful condition removals, blinds every time you go into stealth. I am not proposing Shadow’s rejuvenation tweak without adding other buffs into it as well. If Anet someday decides to have condition removals every 4 seconds instead, then yes, I want a bigger heal from SR. But right now thieves are still reasonably comfortable with the heals.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, please do not comment on it further.

B) You have a problem calculating. 25% heartseeker with 1 stack of vulnerability does not do more damage than backstabbing. In fact, backstabbing with the high number of stacked vulnerability does more than damage than heartseeker (facepalms).

C) This is the dumbest comment I have ever seen. It’s like saying a Tar elemental, Moa birds, shouldn’t drop a WEAPON or ARMOR in the Anet game. It CANNOT be possible. Right? (facepalms)

Dude, it’s a game. I’m not sure where your mind is running at… but you don’t need to spin around to make it a “whirl”. I think just waving my pistol around like a crazy guy can count as a whirl animation.

PS: Can you go back to your other professions? It’s horrible talking to a player who thinks PVE thief players are happy with all the nerfs because other players whined in PvP or WvW.

As for Mug damage with Boon hate… I’m half on this. You’re making a burst Mug build again, which activates every 45 seconds to 40 seconds

Yep, but a “timed burst”.
Make Mug damage without boons insignificant and make it scale greatly with how many boons the target has.
A s\d could benefit from this timed burst but will have to choose when to land it (strip boons or moar damage?), same as a d\d.
Could actually inject some strategy into certain fights

If it scales with the damage, does this mean the healing scales too?

@ OP
i disagree with everything you ask for :
1.first of all : blinding powder is an utility , and black powder is an weapon skill
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Blinding_Powder
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Black_Powder
i see no reason why would you nerf blinding powder.
2. shadow rejuveration – heal for arround 320 -330 with 300 healing power, if an thief heal 75% hp from this trait and he got 150000 hp , mean that he heal:
15.000 * 0.75 / 320 = 35 seconds in stealth, without take damage meantime, and without reset combat
3. i don’t see any reason for HS boost, specialy in pve
4.. pistol whip – whirl finisher. – no , first of all what would be the whirl area? 130 ?
5. scorpion wire -trick – 20 sec cooldown (trained would be 16)

1) You’re right, I meant black powder.
2) Hi there, you have difficulty in reading the language. I wrote Shadow’s Rejuvenation + Healing ability (hide in shadows in example.) that heals a great amount of HP. Other players are complaining that thieves can reset battles in WvW, and I think that’s true.
3) Are you serious? We were once upon a time doing 66-33%, 33-0% full heartseeker damage! That’s a serious loss of PvE damage. Just think of how a warrior can 100B everything with a buttload of PvE damage with AOE damage! The complaint came from PvP players, no one was saying how badly OP heartseeker is in PvE. It’s a relatively small buff anyway that adds maybe 20-30 damage in PvP melee clashes, while adding slightly more damage to PvE dungeons.
4) I’m not even sure WHY you are questioning a buff to pistol whip. That ability has been nerfed pretty hard. I have no control over the Anet’s mechanics, what range the ability should have should be decided by the devs.
5) If you don’t even have an internal test whether the change is OP, I suggest you stop thinking that’s OP right now. This scorpion wire ability has almost no damage, can be dodged/blocked/obstructed and should definitely be buffed. Just think about how many people can keep a high time vigor build and evade away…

As for backstab damage and the likes, no I don’t want to see it nerfed. The reason why you’re seeing high numbers is because of critical burst. You cannot nerf the base damage. The entire thief community will scream. And you absolutely can’t change the stealth reveal too. Everyone will scream with the rotations.

As for Mug damage with Boon hate… I’m half on this. You’re making a burst Mug build again, which activates every 45 seconds to 40 seconds (usually), which I find it to be bad in both PvP and WvW (oh noez, a thief backstabbed me to death, nerf plz!). I rather it be a boon hate build, clearing them with Assassin’s signet.

The Assassin’s signet should be a killer move, you don’t want it to be an attrition thing. If you’re fighting a non-boon user, that signet isn’t that powerful. On the other hand, boon users are far too strong with 100% uptime, therefore Assassin signet is meant to stop them cold. Since mug has been nerfed, we need another way to bring boon users down.

As for the SR trait, 250 hp heal is to nerf the DP/DD crit build slightly. It gives opponents a little more time to hit their heal button (also makes it harder for thieves to 1 v 2-3 people and still be able to kill someone else), if the thief decides to hide under stealth. On the other hand, if you’re running the apothecary items , one can probably heal 500-600 HP per tick along with reasonable condition damage and good toughness. This suits the condition build and make it a new way thieves can play.

Well, at least I’m hoping to see a new build thieves can play with. I mean, it’s getting stale… it really is.

LoneWolfie.1852

Before I go into the buffs, I want to talk about the nerfs thieves should have. I think the thief gameplay is getting stale, and I want to change things up. Just two only, bear with me.

Nerfs

Black powder

  • I think the blind should trigger every 2 seconds. For an AOE blind, this ability is really powerful, and is pretty much the reason why D/P is considered to be a survival build.

Shadow’s Rejuvenation (nerf/buff)

  • Should be nerfed to 175 (originally 293) + 0.25 (originally 0.1) * healing power (Typically 250 HP per tick heal, in case you were wondering, I think the warrior’s healing signet is actually 200 hp per tick, but since thieves HP, is significantly lower…). I haven’t done an exact calculation here, but I think thieves can use Apothecary items (toughness, healing, condition). P/D users using carrion items will get a nerf on this, while there will be benefits to using healing runes/sigils/armor. S/D users may benefit from a cleric’s build with the other buffs I propose.

Either way, I do think that the idea where a thief heals up to 75% hp+ (or 12000-14000 hp) from healing in stealth + healing ability is indeed too powerful, without even putting heal items on yourself. That’s kind of… lame from a RPG perspective. (Although I have huge, questionable remarks on Elementalist users as well).

Buffs

All poison skills to be single charge through TRAITING (Residual Venom trait – Grandmaster).

  • Basically, each time you swing your weapon, you use your bow to hit an AOE of 5 enemies, it uses ONLY ONE CHARGE. On the other hand, if this is changed, the duration needs to be tweaked. Venom share users WILL NOT be able to use it as charges (but by hits). (PP users will only apply one poison’s duration from one unload.)

It gives a relatively big change to PvP and WvW. Thieves will suddenly find themselves to be able to hamper WvW zerks better and force a new perspective on the game.

Heartseeker inflicts 1 stack of vunerability for 10 seconds when target is below 25% hp.

  • This is meant to be a PvE boost for fighting bosses.

Dancing daggers cost 3 initiative

  • Sure, you nerf the damage, I don’t mind it, but it’s good if you can lower the init cost.

Pistol whip is now a combo finisher – Whirl

  • Again, nerfing the damage without putting back some buffs to it, really hurts the PvE factor. Dungeon thieves may now use other players’ fields to better effects.

Scorpion wire buffed to 20 seconds cooldown

  • Who really uses scorpion wire…? 30 Seconds cooldown, really?

Needle Trap damage increased to 250, inflicts 3 stacks of bleeding. (should do same damage tick as caltrops.)
Tripwire Trap now adds inflicts 3 stacks of confusion. (10 seconds)

  • I have never seen thieves use traps other than ambush trap in PvP. By using traps as a means of holding points in PvP? Hmmm..

Headshot damage increased to 200, inflicts 1 stack of confusion for 5 seconds.

  • I think PP thieves need a buff somewhere….

Body shot – Cast time to 1/4 seconds from 1/2 sec

  • Basically a slight increase to DPS by shooting faster.

Unwind – Cast time 1 1/2 sec from 1 3/4 sec, 10% chance to inflict bleeding

  • Increase in DPS by shooting faster, as well as bleeding damage.

Cluster bomb projectile speed increased by 25%.

  • Increase in DPS by speed increase.

Assassin signet removes 1 buff each time for the next 5 attacks.

  • Boon stripping should be interesting. Since this is supposed to be an Assassin’s Signet, stripping the boons off to get a damage spike will be useful.

Quick pockets trait allow weapon swap to be quicker by 1 second.

  • Minor buff to weapon swapping for initiative gain.

Hard to catch cooldown 45 seconds from 60 seconds.

  • This feels more like a PvE dungeon kind of trait rather than a PvP or WvW build…

Sleight of hand dazes 2.5 seconds.

  • I find it ridiculous that Mug heals 2000 hp and damage 2000 hp, while your Grandmaster trait does 1 second of daze that doesn’t really do anything much.

Ricochet increased to 33%.

  • Overall boost to making PP a very annoying class. P/D gains a buff as well.

Instinctual response 40 seconds cooldown.

  • More likely to be a PvE thing. But even if it’s not, I don’t see why it needs a 60 seconds cooldown, when your Cloaked in Shadow trait is on available on demand.

Slash (2nd normal attack for 1st sword skill) does 2 stacks of vulnerability for 5 seconds.

  • Some minor boost for sword DPS thief.

Final words

Rather than switching up the base damage of the weapon sets, I think the overall traits should be looked at first. Also, I don’t want this to be in the thieves discussion. This thread should primarily be about the buffs you want to have.

I think Tigirius has a pretty close answer for me. Casual players can play the game however they want, be it spending time in WvW (afaik only lgd weapons needs the badges) or just random roaming around everywhere in the GW2 world, and still get the reward. They do it relaxed and unconcerned, not caring about how the other hardcore players who do the most profiting routes 8 hours a day.

How do you define casual?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: LoneWolfie.1852

LoneWolfie.1852

Like playing an hour everyday? Or every week? Or coming in once a month?

I’m probably hitting 1300 hours, but at least 50% of the time is from grinding away for mats (while the next major % is 45% afk). 5% came from doing everything else GW2 has. It’s not too bad, I think. 65 hours for the real content GW2 has.

This is my first MMORPG, and gw2 stated that you can be totally casual at the beginning, and I find myself to be un-casual, as the game progressed. And I’m seriously reflecting what I’m doing.

It’s the ultimate price, and probably the ultimate achievement. But I think any casual player forking out even 200 hours to just camp jormag or the likes probably can’t be counted as a casual player. The average game probably has a life of 20 hours or something. If there are 20 over lgd weapons out there which take close to 1000 hours of just normal camping events, or 200-300 hours of pure COF money runs, and ANet planning to probably add even more legendary weapons out there in the future, I’m starting to wonder if ANet is every going to allow casual players to ever attain a legendary.

It’s just not possible.

Sight-seeing all the map content, playing slowly at a “casual” pace will never be able to achieve a legendary. I mean, “the casual player” just camping a Jormag event every day, maybe getting an average of 1g in total from the chest (exotic/rares averaging out), and then after a final 1000 days later, he gets a legendary. 1000 hours, just camping the same event over and over again while finishing his daily (30 mins daily + 30 mins jormag event, or any other high level 80s event).

I mean, would it really, really kill ANet if mats are cheaper and more available? If the casual player can get a legendary if they spent 200-300 hours in the game doing some relaxed roaming in the higher level maps, it wouldn’t kill the game. Contrary, I think they might feel keen to create another legendary for their alts (although if they did that, their status will change to “gamer”). If the entire process is changed up a bit, where you do a very long chained event where you get your precursor (20 hours hunt time), the entire process that you finally achieve from getting it, would have been sublime.

Right now, the process is arguably a mocking one, where you dump in thousands of weapons into the mystic toilet, and then running the same money farm dungeons or event at CS, for hundreds of hours.

After the bots have been removed, there wasn’t any real loot gain, BUT a plinx nerf on CS. What…? Didn’t ANet wrote about how they aren’t against players from “farming”? Not only did the DR change, but it was seemingly tightened up, while the devs claimed that the DR is handcrafted. Unless their intention was to drive up crystalline dust to 25 silvers and above, while churning out recipes that uses 250 tier 6 mats…

I’m… cynical. I really am. Sometimes I wonder why games are produced. Is it really for the gamers’ benefit or a company that preys on gamers’ money (Dye drop rate nerfs. Speculation: Gem related?)?

First of all, this build actually made me think of wild bill when I wrote this. I spent like 10 hours trying to find a good use for S/D, but Mesmer phantasm builds completely beats it, doesn’t hurt elementalists at all, bunker rangers/guardians arguably laughs it off.

As a comment, Venoms are far too weak to be used in a group setting. If any devs are reading this, I hope you change usage of venoms to be swings and not per unit. I.E, if I use a sword and hit 3 different things, all 3 should get poisoned while ONLY using 1 charge of the poison (except for basilisk).

Whether or not this proves to be OP remains to be seen, but venoms are pretty much worthless, if any mobs or clones that another profession create eats up all the venom. And given how you cannot control the sword swings, it might as well be a gimmicky build.

In this regard, I think WvW team battles will be very interesting if thieves get to contribute in a team battle (just make sure that venom share is balanced by limiting the venom share somehow). PvP teams will see a different kind of playstyle and maybe bring some refreshing change to thieves.

And finally, this build likewise doesn’t beat the above matches mentioned earlier. Can’t even touch them. Out of the games, I lost to every single high skilled players with DPS builds, or just bunker it off. Except warriors… well, I couldn’t find any warriors winning anything at all.

Last thing I want to add is the steal trait… 45 Seconds? Too long… I think this should get to 30 seconds for it to work well.

Weapon sigils -

Force/Hydromancer/Paralyzation/Hydromancer.

Edit: Since wild bill is running the same trait line, you can pick follow his P/D build and fight mesmers (I have not tried it), and it might work well against them. From what I heard, they don’t do well against conditions.

I lost count of how many times I posted about increasing loot drops in general. I suggested having a daily “bag of loot” from any DE you do that drops something and doesn’t make you seem like grinding while you can explore with your characters.

Is there really anything that comes after your personal story and world exploration? It’s your nice “skins” and all that. If Anet’s serious about letting you get your casual legendary in a year, the would up they daily dungeon rewards with an account-daily “bag” that’s relevant to your legendary (mats that’s related to the legendary you want).

Having another precursor hunt is another. Perhaps it’s the truth from one of the legendary grind player that shows off his 8-16 hours a day that finally made the community wake up over how overwhelmingly impossible and legendary as to the difficulty of getting one weapon. I guess I’m going for another long run of not touching GW2, maybe longer if Anet doesn’t fix up things…

Even your ascended equipments takes weeks or at least 20 hours in FOTM. That’s amazing. This topic is demoralizing to say the least…

And there’s one achievement about having 5 legendary something… Rofl. Anet…

LoneWolfie.1852

My views are only on dueling 1v1. TPvP is not my type of fun.

About the recent poison leech buff from anet…

I think it’s impossible to even work properly fighting anything with minions in PvP using a venom build. I wish I can say something nice about the venoms 1v1 without mobs helping them, but it doesn’t work on bunker guardians, elementalists too. I find that mesmer is grossly OP 1v1 and is the worst of the lot.

On mesmers

From my perspective, I have a full PVT, 19000 hp, 2800 armor, and each of the mesmer hits hits nearly 3500 dmg with certain illusions, and others hit with bleed and confusion, along with clones having high HP with signet of illusions (in total, hitting 6000-7000 damage with bleed). All that beats a Necromancer’s minion summon build DPS, along with some hideous blink and invisible usage (giving the illusion of amazing mobility) while letting the clones do the work of DPSing anyone.

I’m evading half of the attacks all the time, but I can’t even get close to surviving that damage. It’s utterly impossible, and in 1 burst brings me down to 50% with the main mesmer hitting with some invulnerable sword whipping.

If people think that mesmer is OP, it is.

IMO, it will make sense if you fight mesmer 2v2 and claim that it’s not OP (since you kill off the illusions easier), but the current state of the game is really not balanced when you fight that profession on a 1v1.

The only thing that beats mesmer outright is running the same, bursty type of damage. That’s the D/P build that gives the same kind of burst damage, and quite frankly I’m tired of burst damage smacking everything down.

(Will edit later on after waking up.)

On Warriors

Sadly thieves S/D stole boons like there’s no tomorrow. I don’t think I saw a warrior ever winning, on anything. Sure, 100b is powerful and all, but that’s only in PvE… Feels like zerk is the only way to go for warrior…

On elementalists

I think it’s the closest you can get as a superman build. It has everything. Damage, boons, high survivability… Killing him is impossible at the very least.

On guardians

S/D is quite powerful against guardians, I think, but I haven’t seen a bunker guardian on 1v1s.

On Rangers

One ranger angrily whispered me stuff after taking him down from an all bunker equipment (so he says).

May I suggest Escalade?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escalade

It’s basically a ladder that allows invaders to climb up the wall and attack within. It’s a siege weapon from the old ages that could be a new tactic for WvW. Personally I find the ranged siege to be immensely boring. Balancing could be something like receiving extra damage while climbing up, easily destroyed, takes 10 seconds for each invader to go up, and requires 350-500 supplies (so that no small PUGs can do sneak attacks, and high supply foils instant mesmer portals.)

How do you KNOW Anet isn’t doing anything about it? That’s my question. Do you work there? Do you talk to devs? Did you ask customer service?

Anet. like every software company, has people working on bugs. Bugs are always prioritized. YOU say it’s a huge problem. But maybe it’s not a huge problem. But there are 10,000 people who can’t use the game, and there are 406 problems causing that. One bug fix won’t work for all of them.

So, stay with me here, if some people had freezed that did get fixed, and I know for a fact they have, then Anet has been working on the problem, and they just didn’t fix specific bugs.

To say they’re not working on it is just inventing something out of frustration.

It’s very obvious I don’t know if they are working on it. They don’t even address the issue at all in the tech forum much! The best part is you talking about “freezing” where the issue I’m talking about is a out of memory crash. Even if there are indeed multiple platforms across that require addressing, they are not releasing any information at all on this issue, despite numerous topic created to ask about the crash.

So I don’t know what to say. You keep on going on about inane things like “How do you know Anet’s not fixing…” where I can never be able to give an affirmation as to whether Anet is doing something to resolve this issue. Here’s someone from the forums posting about this issue.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/FAQ-Frequently-Asked-Questions-Compilation/first#post1095415

This is a compilation of FAQ in the tech support forum. This is a work-in-progress. If you have additional questions with solutions post in this thread and I will incorporate them in the list.

This crash is due to limitations of the Windows 32bit architecture’s . Virtually Window will give applications 2gb and reserve 2gb for it’s kernel. When GW2 starts going past 2gb limit by loading textures etc it will crash. Lowering graphic settings will prolong the time before a crash.

There are three options to fix this.

Wait for Anet to fix their code to work within the limits of 32bit
Upgrade to Windows 64bit
Try /3GB switch workaround method. This has it’s drawback, but for most users it should be fine.

- Source: Kirito

And this information came from a user, not the devs. Inventing something out of frustration? What a joke. Stop making yourself look silly please… All I know is this issue has been going on since launch, and if this problem hasn’t been resolved even till this April (where I last used 32 bits and still crashed), I doubt Anet’s willing to fix this anytime soon.

If the GUI for eyeinfinity takes 5 mins to fix, of course Anet can repair it. Since the memory leak hasn’t been resolved, it will probably take an entire rehaul of the codes.

Also I said huge problem on handling memory codes, not a huge game breaking bug/problem.

LoneWolfie.1852

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here. I’m stating that Anet has a huge problem on handling the memory problem. Many users have to do their own band-aid solution of using a program that allows 32 bit users to have over >3gb usage ram on a single program.

A) Anet didn’t solve it. Since launch.
B) Anet keeps quiet about it. There is no solution, no explanation as to why certain users have this problem.

I can’t explain it any better to you that there are multiple users who experienced this issue, and Anet not doing anything about it. There are certainly a great number of issues users experience, and Anet does help them out within a certain limitation. WvW clearly affected everyone, and it took Anet 6-7 months to finally get to it.

What about this out of memory crash? Anet keeps quiet about it, users have to find their own solutions. Another minor bug with eye-infinity is a priority for the devs to fix? Not at all, and if anything it’s in the low priorities. And since you already know how the scene works, where the left hand does not know what the right hand does, expect Anet not to fix the issue until they truly have nothing better to fix. I don’t need to assume something to know Anet is not going to bother about a problem this “minor”. It’s just the limitations behind everything else.

There’s only one problem with your response to me. Anet has helped a whole lot of people who crash in that time. We’ve seen posts of it before. Two people like that are in my guild. They had crashes and Anet fixed them. What they didn’t fix was YOUR crash.

Are you working with customer service directly?

For every claim that Anet helped them, another user will pop up saying the game has crashed. You can google guild wars 2 32 bit crash. More often than not, it has something to do with insufficient memory and a specific GPU (but I may be wrong.) In my case, I gave up on Anet fixing their memory leaks/usage codings and used win 64 bits with 8 gb ram.

Problem solved. And no, I did not reinstall a fresh new copy. Same PC with multi boot 32 bits and 64 bits, and only 32 bits suffered. In any case, the competence over their codings (unable to increase FPS in large WvW fights, even when I’m running a quad 4400 ghz intel 2500k…) has led me to believe they can’t optimize/fix issues, and if they do manage to solve it, good for us. Otherwise we play by Anet’s rules.

Why so serious?

Here’s an example.

And it’s not just dull games that go unfinished. Critically acclaimed ones do, too. Take last year’s “Red Dead Redemption.” You might think Rockstar’s gritty Western would be played more than others, given the praise it enjoyed, but you’d be wrong.

Only 10% of avid gamers completed the final mission, according to Raptr, which tracks more than 23 million gaming sessions.

Let that sink in for a minute: Of every 10 people who started playing the consensus “Game of the Year,” only one of them finished it.

Let me just put it this way. Casual players hardly finish a game. If you think I was pulling some dictionary term without any number support…

I like how people assume Anet doesn’t care, or won’t do anything. If it’s a problem that just appeared, Anet probably doesn’t know what to do about it yet. Anet does fix bugs and has fixed bugs for many people.

But bugs because the game crashes on “your” machine, or other problems that come with a new patch are new bugs and Anet has to analyze and check into them before they actually can do anything about it.

It’s not like Anet introduced a bug intentionally, so they don’t know where it is or what caused it. You can bet they’ll be working on it, but yeah…sometime bugs take time to track down.

Anyone who’s ever worked in software development will back me up. A hundred coders working on a program make it hard to tell who did what and when.

Sure it sucks, I get that. But saying that they won’t do anything because they haven’t done something less than a day after a bug was reported is just not realistic.

Anet hasn’t spoken a word since the launch, that’s like 8 months and counting. Assuming is hardly a fair word to describe our (the people who crash on win 32 bits) discontent. In the end our fix is buying windows 64 bits? Hah. Good for them if they manage to fix it, but I’m not holding my breath.

Positive compliments:

A) I like the gem skins. Compared to RNG fused chest, I’ll fork out 10 dollars as support for free story content as well.

B) Various changes to PvP which is more positive, I think I see more buffs than nerfs this time.

C) Adjustments to WvW.

D) More polish and fixes.

E) No RNG skin tickets. Oh my god.

Negative criticisms:

A) Crystalline dust still expensive as ever. This mat influences the entire T6 mats upgrade. It is understandable that the T6 mats should drop rarely, but there should be at least a reduction to the upgrading formula of others, I.E, 1 crystalline dust OR 5 crystals (Mystic forge upgrading of crystalline dust VS T6 mats upgrade).

B) DR on lvl 80s map. After 6-7 months, where botters are significantly eliminated, I’m starting to wish that there’s less of a DR.

C) Scaled DE rewards. Exploring the world at level 80 should give lvl 80 DE rewards instead of a cap. This should encourage players to explore the world.

D) Dungeon rewards – FOTM, Arah compared to COF p1 is…

E) Introducing more recipes might be good, especially unused mats.

I rate this patch 8/10. What’s your rating?

People who are vocal about the game actually care about the game; even if their arguments are irrational. Their opinions and feedback matter. Why? *Because casual players don’t care.

Casual players don’t post on forums. Don’t talk with others on voip, don’t type anything in chat, don’t write guides, don’t find exploits, don’t abuse game mechanics, don’t provide feedback and just generally don’t care about pretty much anything.*

If we met face-to-face, I would put you in the hospital for that comment. I am a casual player and I actually care about this game. I want to see this game work so well that every boast that they’ve made towards this game is true and real. One of the factors that help make this game amazing is the community but that is by a long shot because the recent generation of gamers is comprised of alot of Hardcore.

I could say this same comment about these Hardcore gamers because they are the ones who try to convince everyone that MMOs are about PvP more than the main game. They are the ones who only care about THEIR status in the game and will ruin it to fulfill their own agenda. They will step on people just to get better scores.there might be some Hardcore that care but most of Hardcore only care about themselves.

Seems like someone needs an infraction. I suggest you take a trip to the nearest anger management counselor. And the definition of casual, you need to go read it up.
